So SLOW. They usually only have 1 worker up at the front, maybe 2. That makes a line of only 4 people take anywhere from 10-25 minutes.

If I could give 0 stars I would. 4 months later and the system is still down 😂 and when you go in it’s just “the system is down we can’t do anything” NO ATTEMPT to even try and help. Just shut the place down already.

The last time I called the guy that respond me was very rude, unprofessional, I called because there’s a specific letter that the caregiver keep sending it back to the sender, just because she said she keep confusing me with the people that used to live before in my apartment which is so annoying because I have almost 2 years in here and I never have issue she always leaves everything but not that letter, this is gonna be the 3rd time, every time I called these people never want to resolve the issue and I am tired of it because it’s been over 3 months already now I will have to wait until the sender gets the letter and wait another 2-3 weeks more to get to me. They need to fired these people at the post office, they seem to not want to help people.

This branch posted a sign on the inside door saying that it would close 15 min early for several days arbitrarily, obviously in violation of USPS’s operation hour policy. I lived here for less than 2 years and have seen them done so at least twice. When they do so, they would reject all customers who arrived on a weekday between 4:45 to 5pm. This branch definitely needs discipline from their superior office.

Horrible customer service. The woman at the desk working Monday afternoon refused to tape my box shut and now I have ship an open box across the country. What a monster

The lady working there this Saturday morning is THE worst. Awful customer service. She made a ridiculous scene to make a point about people not preparing packages at home before coming to the post office after all I asked her for is a piece of tape THAT SHE WAS ALREADY USING IN FRONT OF ME. She told me I’d have to buy my own tape after just spending $8 to return something. This is so outdated considering UPS, Amazon, etc don’t require wasteful pre packing. Besides the unnecessary dispute over a piece of tape, her attitude was uncalled for.

If I could give this location ZERO stars I would. The system is ALWAYS DOWN. Useless to even be open. Stop going here and let it close down. Takoma location is always so much better, the workers there are also very kind and helpful.

How to Turn a Quasi-Federal Agency into Something Else: these ladies refuse to refill the USPS Priority Mail boxes and tell customers they do not have any supplies and if you want a box you have to pay for their shipping boxes. Never seen this tactic before. I've been there six times in two months and the boxes are always missing and they give the same spiel to others. Shameful.

I had an incredible experience with this post office last weekend that I want to share. I had called the customer line because a package's tracking information had been marked as delivered the day before, but they the status reverted to distribution center that morning. I was told that it is a system issue that packages get marked as delivered and the current status was correct, but she was unable to tell me why it was sitting at the distribution center (Takoma Park post office) and not out for delivery, so she put in a claim ticket. About 15 minutes later I got a call on my cell phone and it was the supervisor at that location, Ms. Foxx, asking if I had received my package. I told her that I had not and then she had Ms. Lee check in the packages on site and they located my package. This was 4:45 p.m. on a Saturday, so it was apparent it wasn't being delivered that day and it was a gift for father's day the next day. I asked if I could pick it up and was told that I could, if I got there in the next 15 minutes before they locked the back loading door and left. I made it and they both helped me load the large, heavy box into my car and absolutely made my day/week/year. The company that I purchased the gift from through Amazon had decided to ship via the slowest and cheapest means, so I couldn't blame the postal service for the package having not arrived, but the level of customer service to call me directly and then help find a solution was beyond my wildest expectations. Please do give the overworked staff at this location a break when you are frustrated with the long lines, as my experience there has been that they are always professional and do their job very well, even when they don't have a second to catch their breath in between customers.

The BEST post office I’ve ever been to. The team there is EXCEPTIONAL. They are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. Feels like a neighborhood place. I always look forward to my visits there. Shout out to Mayra for the great service as always.

I’d like to sent my best gratitude to Mira/Mayra (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) at this location. She was an absolute gem who looked out for my lost item and cared enough to actually help me out. I have not met an employee like her at USPS, and while I don’t want working with lost items to become their extra burden/job, I’d love for people like her to get recognized for these types of behavior. I thank you so much Mira/Mayra!

If I could give zero stars I would. The most horrible post off I have ever experienced. They lose tour mail and won't care one bit. Lost my certified mail. This is crazy!

It's not great, but it's not awful either. Likely the same story for all USPS store out there. I usually come in to drop off a package or a letter and get out within 10 mins. Sometimes I have to wait but it's not long. The employees don't seem like they want to be there, but at least they do their jobs.

Have been to this location a couple of time before and have always had some kind of issue with the customer service. Today the woman at the front really outdid herself by being racist. She was ringing up a gentlemen that did not speak english and she was extremely rude to him and made racist remarks. She told him to press no on the keypad and when she realized he did not speak english she very rudely said "no english" the gentlemen said no english and she laughed and rolled her eyes at him then proceeded to say to make passive aggressive comments while trying to "help" him. I'm sure this isn't the first or last time something like this has happened. I was not able to get her name but she wears glasses, has gray hair and had her hair in a updo

This post office is hit or miss. It’s literally across from my house and I hate going there. If that lady from India is there because she is one of the rudest person she never wants to help you and likes to talk loud and make you feel like an idiot.
This is the second time I came to do a passport and she returns me because she already had enough people and she does not put under consideration that we having to leave work and take the kid out of school to come do this. We were there at 9:10 for God sake.

They don't have a machine that will weigh your mail and dispense postage at this location, so you have to wait in line no matter what. Always only one person working the counter, so very slow and inefficient. And bring your own pen- they don't have any. This location is stuck in the 1970's.

Omg what is that? Have no boxes system does not work, manager or supervisor is not right here🤦♂️😂 how?

Took me over an hour to drop off a single package when I had only one person in front of me upon arrival. The male attendant had no sense of urgency and labeled my international package incorrectly several times. He refused to fix a wrong address and reassured me it will get there. At this point I gave up and left. Never going to use USPS for international shipping again. I had to audit the contact and delivery to ensure he wrote it down correctly. Never experienced such poor service at a USPS office. Huge line of people cause the guy moved at such a snails pace.

Lee Jane is RUDE & Nasty. & so is the other girl that was working with her on Wednesday afternoon 1/31/24. No one greeted me when I walked in just gave me a crazy look. She has no customer service skills. & proceeds to go back & forth with customers. Do better. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. She should be fired. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

This branch of USPS has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. If you have any questions or uncertainties, expect to be scolded and dismissed. I would recommend going to any other local branches.

9 am went there, the staff was like doing mumble rap i couldn't understand him 80%, and he acted so inpatiently. I was like..it was 9 am in the morning, you just started working! I can't imagine how customers will be abused mentally if it is 4 pm

I don’t know where to start my review!! This is the best usps that I’ve never been to!!! I was just shocked from the moment I walked in and the friendly atmosphere I felt!! I feel so stupid not getting the wonderful ladies names but I was so stressed over the paperwork I had to send that I totally forgot to ask about their names!! They really made a huge impression on me!! Thank you so so much!!! Thank you for all your help and patience!! 🙏❤️

Ebony and Mayra are the Queens of this Post Office! They are always kind, patient, and happy to see me whenever I walk in to this post office! I have been to several post offices in DC and this is by far the best one! Just to let everyone know, they actually close at 5pm and open from Monday to Friday!

I dropped a package off and asked for a receipt and was told they don’t provide receipt for packages, which is a lie since I always get receipts with no issues. It has been 4 days since I dropped it off and it was never scanned or shipped. Usps says they can’t help me since it was never scanned. The drop off window was not working so I had to meet her at the side door and I’m assuming she was too lazy to walk over to the computer to give me a receipt. Looks like the employee stole my package.

There is no post office in the DC area that is friendly, fast, and reliable…you only get to pick 1 or two of those features.
Honestly the reason this post office is a decent one is because of the easy to access parking lot.
It is one of the slowest stores though - so be prepared to wait. The staff is usually friendly or they just look like they’re exhausted and don’t have as much patience. It’s rare to see more than one person working the counter - hence why they’re slow and could possibly be a bit irritated.
I personally ALWAYS get a receipt for everything - even dropping off a pre paid package. Over the last couple of years I’ve had quite a few stamped letters lost, and a few packages (that I didn’t get receipts for).
This post office is usually pretty clean though.
It’s also next to a coffee shop so you can reward yourself for the long wait to get that one stamp.

This is a great post office. There are several other branches closer to my home, but I go out of my way to come to this one because the staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you to Ebony in particular!
Note that the google maps location and time info is wrong — they’re at 1750 Penn (not 1700), and are open regular 9-5 hours.

Amy was amazing. We didn’t have a passport appointment but came in as soon as the place opened and after hearing my story and my stress, she decided to see me right then and there because appointments didn’t start until 10 AM. She was a lifesaver and very patient with me and my mother and relieved a lot of stress.

I don't know why this location has such bad reviews. Every time I've gone to this location the postal workers are friendly and always address people as miss/ma'am/sir, and say please, thank you, and you're welcome.
The negative reviews probably have more to do with the people posting them than the employees. On my most recent visit, the 3 people in front of me were a mess. One was at the counter with an item they wanted to send, with no packaging and no address label or anything, just the item. The next one had a package they wanted to send to another country but they didn't have a customs slip filled out. The last one was frantically trying to pack her stuff into a box and tape/label it while trying to make sure she kept her place in line ahead of me (she must've be in a real hurry, since I was the only person behind her).
People would probably have better things to say about this location if they arrived prepared. It's really easy to find the answers to all kinds of USPS related questions on their website before heading in.

Not giving only one star, because one day there was a very helpful lady who worked there. The Next week, I told the lady I had had a stressful year with several moves and she just busted out laughing. I said that I haven’t received any guidance on how to get my mail to the right place and she said with an attitude “well they don’t know because they see all these addresses listed”

Arrived on time for our appointments to have passport applications done. Amy helped us through the process, explaining why she needed additional ID, all the fees, etc. She was very nice and professional, and definitely knew what she was doing. Highly recommend this post office for passport processing.

Closed for lunch for over an hour. Does not pick up phone number that's posted. About 10+ people on line. I think this station needs to hire more people.

Can’t recommend this location enough! After some very poor experiences at other DC locations, walking into this post office is like a breath of fresh air. Mayra and two other ladies (who’s names I unfortunately did not catch) are so personable and kind. Their positivity made for a unexpectedly enjoyable visit.
TLDR: Great attitudes, very knowledgeable, pleasant atmosphere, quick service, fantastic attention to detail.
Interacting with the right (or wrong) person in any situation can completely make or break your experience. A person can either unlock all of the right doors for you and solve your problem quickly and efficiently, or slam shut the doors (and windows and blinds for good measure) and steer you in the completely wrong direction, wasting more of your time, energy, and money. Which person would you pick?
I was in a unique situation needing to open a PO Box in a different state, and had been rudely dismissed at other locations that it was not possible and I would need to fly to the location to submit my ID verification in-person. This is clearly not an easy or accessible solution for the average person, especially when the USPS website states that ID verification CAN be completed remotely.
These three ladies were the only ones who 1) had knowledge of the correct procedures and 2) went above and beyond to help me submit my forms through both fax AND mail to make sure the out-of-state location would have all the necessary information, as that location was also incredibly unhelpful and impossible to reach on the phone.
I went to these ladies twice in one day as the other locations (that I made the mistake of visiting) gave me false information and refused to even try to help me. The ladies at this location continued to work with me even after their store closed.
They tried to call the out-of-state location for over an hour (unsuccessful) and also noticed that one of my documents would expire soon, and had me send them an extra document to use as a backup to avoid any further potential delays. They also expedited the shipping of my documents as my situation was time-sensitive and needed a quick turnaround.
Employees at other locations would not even blink an eye or lift a finger to help someone to this extent, even though this is when people need the advice and expertise of the postal workers the most, as we do not have the same access to USPS knowledge and resources.
Post office heaven actually exists, and it’s at this DC location.
If you wish to have a postal experience where you won’t be rushed or dismissed, where the fax/scanners/printers actually work, where the lines are short and move quickly, and where the employees have a complete understanding of USPS systems and processes and are more than willing to help you navigate them, this location should be your first, and final, destination.
Thank you again to these three ladies, I quite literally couldn’t have done any of this without y’all!

The amount of mail that I have never received over the last few months is outrageous. Packages are marked delivered, but the postal worker was not even at my home (I work from home and I have a Ring camera). I’ve called, submitted claims to get some sort of compensation for lost packages, but they either do nothing or outright close the ticket. I’m at a loss for what to do. I’m so frustrated and I have lost so much money, gifts, etc because the packages never arrive. PLEASE be more mindful of where you are delivering people’s mail.

Got my passport renewed today and the staff was great. Ms. Hye Yon was very kind and helpful!

Just got my passport processed by Nathan, I was in and out in 7 minutes. He was incredibly thorough and efficient. Quick and easy, great experience!

The store is clean and the staff is friendly. The service is fast here.

I recently had a phone call with one of the ladies who work at this post office. I was inquiring about my intercepted package that was being held for
pickup. Right as the phone call began, the lady on the phone was extremely rude and offensive, with a condescending tone and attitude. I understand it is a stressful time for everyone, especially those working at USPS due to the volume of packages they have, but that is no excuse to be so hurtful and harsh to a customer who is simply worried about their package and wanting to ensure it is not lost. She blatantly told me it is not possible to pick up packages from the post office, which confused me further as my whole purpose in intercepting a package was for it to be held for pickup. She was of absolutely no help. I tried my best to be nice and understanding, but unfortunately her attitude has led me to leave this review since I would hate for anyone else to be met with such unprofessional behavior.

After reading the reviews, we were hesitant to use this branch, but couldn’t get a passport appointment anywhere else for today. Super pleased. There were four people working and all were super friendly people. Since we were there for about 20 minutes, we saw dozens of interactions, all were friendly and helpful. Great post office!

Pleasant feel to a room post office with a stocked postal store. Nice conversation with clerk who sold me stamps. Noted photo of namesake Preston King, World War II hero. This could be a community center, like Post Offices of yore.

This post office is great .I live in Falls Church City . I have chosen to come here since the FC post office staff area so rude, nasty and disrespectful. This Washington St post office has always been extremely helpful, courteous, and even staying open in the evening if the line is long (may not let people in if the doors are close). You want rudeness? Go to Falls Church, Broad Street location .As far as the carriors are concerned, you get good and bad all over the country. Not just Northern Virginia.

The post office itself is fine, employees are helpful and proper most of the time. I have no problem with them at all.
My main complaint is one of the USPS carriers. S/he didn't even ring the door bell when I was waiting at home all day for my international package, and it does not even require a signature. So this lazy ass carrier decided to dropped all the mails and delivery notice paper which marked "No Authorized Recipient Available".
S/he also ignored the fact that we have 3 cars parked right in front of the house lol.
So it was clear that s/he didn't want to drop off my package from the beginning. Basically it's a "F-u, I'm lazy af.. you can come pick up the package yourself".
Oh, also that brainless USPS carrier gave me delivery notice paper with the wrong USPS office address (It says Annandale branch, instead of this one in Arlington).
It's a shame that some of those Arlington USPS carriers couldn't even do their job properly and decided to be super lazy about it.

Sometimes it's crowded, and sometimes the stock of stuff--envelopes, mailing boxes etc is low but in general service is quite good. We recently got passport photos/applications processed there and it was great. Home delivery has been mostly excellent for us in 17 years of living nearby

Original review:
Liza who works at the desk is always so great with her service and accommodating. Great that this is my local Post Office.
Update 07/08/22:
I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Liza again, I'm happy she's still here years later.
I think the issues with this place is that people forget the USPS employees are people as well - countless times when I have had to drop a package off to send off, people are so unjustly rude. I understand impatience but audibly complaining isn't going to make the service any faster.

When I need to mail a package to a shady state from a Post Office I can trust, I use this location. Judy and the staff are so nice and honest. I feel like family.

I've used this Post Office for years and always found it pleasant. Yes it is crowded at certain times but the wait is never too bad and the employees have always been helpful and pleasant. My household delivery is another thing. For the past 6 months it has been terrible -- misdelivered mail and sometimes mine never gets here.

I actually had a fantastic experience at a post office. It was spacious and very clean. There was a person walking around who's sole job was to make sure I knew what forms I needed and gave me all the options for mailing. She even offered to get me a pen, since they don't have them out.
The clerk took care of me quickly and made sure to ask for ID since my credit card wasn't signed. Was in and out very quickly.
