My favourite museum in Montevideo.

The permanent exhibition has work from some of the most celebrate Uruguayan artists - Torres-Garcia, Blanes, Viera. The temporary exhibition spaces are updated regularly and are almosy always thought-provoking and worth visiting.

Furthermore, the size of the Museum is perfect. One can spend 1-2 hours and enjoy everything it has to offer.

The museum has a nice garden out the front, with a small cafe with good coffee. A nice spot to find some shade or meet friends.
There is a lot of space in the museum. Two floors . There is an elevator. I really liked the exhibition of paintings and expositions. Very polite staff. Entrance fee is 200 pesos. Payment is cashless, you need to scan the code to pay
Free entry. Very friendly and welcoming. Lockers for bags and belongings. A mixture of original and replica exhibits from different ages. Information in Spanish.

Very nice square
Beautiful art gallery divided in two levels. There's a lot of security and you can hand over your jacket and bag. When I was there, they also had an exhibition about the war between Israel and Palestina. Very touching.
Highly suggest going!

Montevideo Pop Up
Pleasant. Minimal.
Convoluted system for buying tickets with QR code, passport numbers or proof of ID, and creation of an account!! Eventually I just gave up and the security guy told me to just go in, which was lucky because I was going to leave.

Lovely space, with a range of styles, but its a short visit. Couldnt spend 40 minutes there
The Parque de Villa Biarritz is the primary civic space for the Villa Biarritz neighborhood and is also readily accessible on foot from the contiguous areas of Pocitos and Punta Carretas. The park is enclosed primarily by apartment buildings (some with small ground floor businesses). On Tuesdays and Saturdays from about 9am-2pm the Féria de Villa Biarritz is open for business in the park: Tuesdays primarily for the farmer’s market and Saturdays the full Féria (including clothing, mates, house plants, gift items, food truck, etc.) The park is also home to the Bigua, a major recreational venue for children and families, with recently expanded facilities (requires membership). A fence-enclosed playground for toddlers/young children is open to the public and very much used year round. The Park has a wonderful variety of trees and birds — absent are pigeons (thanks to the city’s introduction of a few hawks who keep them away). This is a wonderful community asset that is both open and safe. Other than the Féria on Saturday, the Park does not get much tourist traffic.
A very simple rectangular floor plate with a mezzanine level, plus ancillary spaces that accommodate both the permanent collection and special exhibits. The important thing is one can easily view the artwork with proper illumination. The museum grounds are beautiful and tranquil. A coffee pavilion (operated by The Lab) offers excellent coffee and bakery items, with ample outdoor seating in the museum garden. Almost handicapped accessible — the exterior ramps do not provide flawless access for wheelchairs; but once inside everything is good.

Nice place, but you have to be careful. There are a few unwanted people there. Stay away from them.

This museum is a gem and an interesting look at the creative process. Figari, a writer and lawyer, started his painting career at the age of 60! It was fascinating to read about his son's role in his life; the son died so young and was himself a gifted artist. I loved the display of old paint tubes. When I visited, the second floor was devoted to the winner of a prize named after Figari. I liked her work a lot, which included not only paintings and drawings but also multimedia work and even illustrations for book and album covers: a unique window into Uruguay's rich culture. The staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Also, admittance to the museum is free.
Cool but not very impressive. The coffee, in front, is a beatiful place to visit :) ☕️
A great little museum with lots of artifacts, original and not. Very friendly reception and free entrance to all.

Precioso museo.
Beautiful sculpture garden with a cafe right out front of the building.

The collection ranges from sculptures, to paintings and video installations.

Each section of the museum was incredibly well curated with themes and media.
Great mix of classic works and contemporary.

I noticed a new exhibition was being installed when I visited and that tells me they rotate their exhibitions greatly leaving the visitor/ viewer with something new to come back and experience.

Highly recommended on a nice day and even a rainy one . :)
The best place in Montevideo
Centrally located and FREE for everybody. Lots of artifacts although some aren't original. Somehow that doesn't detract from the pleasure and you can learn from them too. Lift or stairs to and from lower ground floors. WCs. Information desk with a warm welcome from the staff. Thank you.

Visita privada

A 5 floor museum with some Spanish and English descriptions (museum had wifi to use a translation app, if needed).

Awed by some of his ceramic and cardboard relief pieces. Glad to learn more about this artist, his influences and his developed style.

Price is 220 pesos per person.

To bad from the graffiti on it, but you also have small park to sit down a bid. Nice green trees around .

One of my favorite ferias in Montevideo on Saturdays with lots of selection of produce, cheeses, food and crafts. A much more relaxed place than Tristan Narvaja.
Much bigger and more complete than we expected, definitely worth a visit!

A nice square downtown with a lot of trees and movement, surrounded by places to eat, the Craftsman’s Market, and big space enough to have a nice walk.

People all around and she’s sitting here and watch the city move.

A small but fantastic museum. It is full of treasures from an Egyptian mummy to many pre-colonial items. Well-organised by geo-regions. You won’t mind the replicas as they were done extremely professionally. Plus the museum is free to the public and the reception lady was amazingly welcoming.

Huge, pretty rugged place so dogs and kids can both run wild
It was a fantastic visit, yes, there are some reproductions, but it’s precious anyway and it’s all in the same place. There are some real things too, very interesting, about the people that were here in this county before the Europeans arrived, it is a beautiful place to visit if you are visiting the city, there are so many things to see, and it’s free, so you don’t need to worry about it.

The park is locatec at Punta Carretas neighborhood..
Yesterday was clean and enjoyable.
On saturdays is common a fair over it.
Doesn't have games for childs, it is all green, and a place for talk with friends, and rest after a running.
Grass is cut often.
Great place to stop by and have a relaxing moment in the forest.

Usually a home for the Saturday ferias, this park is located near Pocitos. Had been here for the Montevideo Pop Up Fair. There were so many stalls and music shows, put up for the people to enjoy a bright and sunny day.
We tried the beer at the OPB. The shawarma from Solger shawarma was the best.
If don't walk through the rambla, you did not visit Montevideo.

Probably Montevideo's prettiest park and certainly the nicest on the eastern end of town. Much nicer than Parque Roosevelt! It can be sketchy is some areas, but is not dangerous (in my experience) - few places in MVD are! There is a lovely lake, lots of open space, and at least one playground for kids. Very pleasant setting for a weekend picnic or outdoors kids' birthday party. A gem in the Carrasco area, for sure. It's also a fantastic place to take a walk with a dog, if you need somewhere to let them off leash!

Nowadays the park is accesible.
Lake is clean and you can see several ducks over the ribera
There is a place owned by the Municipal structure called Cedel, where some entrepreneurs and other persons can place their activities.
Also basic courses are provided there.
Only con there's no control with some vehicles that uses it as a highway, and don't respect the riders or persons that walk over it.

Love this place! There's a bus stop in this area plus if you need to connect a public wifi the signal is good on this part of Montevideo centro. 😊
Fantastic! Small but comprehensive, it was well done and free. Yes, many pieces are replicas but on the whole it’s a wonderful collection. Very glad we went.

One of my favorite painters. Something very unique and challenging you feel when getting in touch with his art. Beautiful gallery and excellent staff! Highly recommend!
Beautiful as part of Montevideo’s heritage, it numbers bus stops, restaurants, crafts fair, live shows and restrooms. May a bit dark at night, being in need of some cleaning. Nice place to meet, specially during afternoons.
A beautiful place of contemporary art and modern architecture. Thoughtfully planned, spacious exhibition of paintings, installations, projections and sculptures. There is no English tour guide available however the entry and locker are free. The museum is relatively small compared to other capitals but intimate and will take you about 60-90 minutes to explore depending on your lust of interpretation. CCTV was in operation everywhere and guards were standing at every corner of the exhibition which was kind of odd. There's an inviting yet pricey café at the entrance waiting for you after the visit. Can recommend to dip into Uruguayan perspective on modern art!

This is a truly great museum--the art of Gurvich is impressive in its variety and quality, and really well displayed in a building that was devised for the very purpose. There is also an extra display on the top couple floors that rotates I believe. Highly recommended for any 20th century art lovers.

Wonderful, amazing and magic place. Perfectly designed for understanding Figari's work and contributions to American culture.
Well worth a visit. This is full of statues and artwork of ancient Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia and pre-colonial central/south America. It is one of the only places open on a Sunday in the city.
