They don't get no stars. Very unprofessional. Not reliable. Scam artists.

I went in a Doe Fund Shelter RWA in Brooklyn 15 years ago. I'll never forget how good I was treated. Like a human being. They had professional chefs cooking the food our body needed to get to work and they keep us busy. Borden Ave shelter on the other hand has nothing, they let us rot eating the cheapest TV dinners with no seasoning, only salt and pepper. Men would leave and go live in the street with the military training they had. Imagine that? We had to use skills learned in Basic Combat Training just to survive a veterans shelter.

How can anyone get upset at an organization that helps the homeless, has cap and gown graduations with men and women wearing suits surrounded by people wearing suits. What other homeless organization does that? It's not Bellvue, I'll tell you that for sure. Look at all these brothers with caps and gowns and suits. How can someone hate on that?

This charity is a scam. The motto is “ready willing and able.” It should be “ready willing and able to sit on a park bench.” I used to think it was a great idea to get jobs for the homeless. I gave them thousands of dollars over the years until I recently moved to the neighborhood where their clients hang out. The Doe Fund gives their clients a large garbage pail, a broom and sets of royal blue clothes.

There is a small park near where I live where I’ll often see groups of them hanging out. When I pointed out all of the leaves on the ground for them to sweep up the response I got was if we clean it up the leaves keep falling. Recently on the block of “their” park a car ran into the windows of a Capital One bank. Glass Has been all over the sidewalk for a couple of weeks None of them did a thing.

Give your money to a legitimate organization that helps the homeless, not this group.

The Doe Fund provides a wonderful, serious, and comprehensive opportunity to re-focus and re-direct one’s life. They offer incredible resources in terms of psychosocial support and are truly committed to the multifaceted growth of its clients.

Working collaboratively with Chris Luggiero has been quick and effective. Great Company with a strong mission statement and values. I would highly recommend working with them and will continue to do so in the future.

Doe Fund is a good idea. But they don't answer their phones, and they don't respond to messages. (I left five messages at different times asking for more of those little cards they print, that we can give out to homeless men.) So I'm guessing they're very poorly staffed. As to how much they do, all I can say is I haven't seen the "men in blue" on the streets lately. Charity Navigator does not review them, so I have no idea how they spend their money.
