Reasonably priced and very informative

A lot of stairs to climb but plenty to stop and look at on the way to the observation deck. The views are epic. Great story to tell. This is a global icon. Must see.

The view alone is worth the money!
To enter the museum, you must begin walking across the bridge (take elevator from Rocks area) toward North Sydney on the East (closer to Opera House) side of the bridge and the door will be in the pylon.
They also stay open later in August so you can watch the sunset.

This is a hidden gem and should be on everyone's list when visiting Sydney (as long as they can navigate stairs; there is no elevator). Located inside the pylon (those 2 giant brown towers that are on each end of the bridge) closest to Circular Quay, this small museum has some photos and descriptions of the history of the Harbour Bridge, as well as 8 short videos (each 60 seconds or less). The real star though is the view and it is well worth the entry fee of $24.95 AUD (less for children 12 and under, and students).
The entrance to this museum is not well-marked; it is a 5 minute walk along the Harbour Bridge from The Rocks. At the first pylon, there is a door, a small sign and some stairs. Go in and start walking. By the time you make it to the actual entrance of the museum, you have already covered about 1/3 of the 200ish stairs to get to the top. This is where you pay your fee. There is also a small gift shop and toilets. Keep walking up the stairs, and you will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views of Sydney.
On the way down, stop to look at the displays and take 7 minutes to watch the videos.
If you are intrigued by the idea of the Harbour Bridge Climb but you don't want to pay the $ or you are nervous about doing it, we highly recommend trying the Pylon Museum instead. It's not the same experience, but you will get some incredible views of the beautiful city of Sydney! (If you are planning to do the Bridge Climb, there is an option to add the Pylon Museum. We recommend visiting the Pylon Museum in addition to doing the Bridge Climb, as you can stay as long as you want, and you will have your own camera so you can take as many photos as you want. No cameras of any kind are allowed on the Harbour Bridge Climb.)
Next time you visit Sydney (or if you're a local and you haven't been), be sure to add the Pylon Museum to your "must see" list!

FANTASTIC VIEW , inspirational museum, must do

Great views up here, one of the best places to see the harbour. It's a journey to get up there but it's all worth it.

Great view
