I initially chose this place for its central location, close to transportation, school, and office. However, after reading reviews, I was surprised by the poor management. In person, the front desk guy was extremely rude and disrespectful on both occasions I visited. It's disappointing to see such behavior in customer service. If you dislike the role, it's better to find another job. I hope the management improves in the future.For now I found other locations best managed highly suggest to read reviews before your get in contact.

Lydian is the worst complex i have ever lived in and I hope the absolute worst of them and Holland Partners (their property management company). I lived there for just under a year and the elevators broke down all the time with little to no notice. The entire time i lived there the garage door was broken so they had a “security guard” watch from their car who was either asleep or just watching football on their phone. The only time i ever saw them stock towels or clean amenity rooms or fix the coffee machine was before a showing (you’ll never get use those.) Oh and the hidden fees were my favorite feature. Because the dog run needed to be cleaned or there was too much trash (keep in mind the complex was half empty), we ALL were getting $150 charges added to our rent for clean up (WE DONT HAVE A DOG). This is in addition to the fees we already paid for trash and cleaning.
By the main reason i beg you to stay away from Lydian is because they are shady and terrible people work there. We moved out early, paid our $18,000 lease break and then for the next 6 months called me every week to demand payment. However, i took screenshots of my payment and send them numerous emails, but they lost the payment and were quite sure that i needed to pay again. So i sent them bank statements proving the payment posted and gave them their verification number. They never stopped calling. When i threatened legal action they sent a collection agency. I sent the agency my documents and they backed off, just to be sent another agency again. So we called Lydian to have them try help us. But they weren’t taking our calls so we called from my wife’s number and then they picked up. But still wouldn’t help us resolve the issue with Holland partners. The last agency finally helped us have Holland partners leave us alone. Lydian & Holland partners are the worst.

Firstly, I want to start off with the positives: for a large apartment complex, the property managed to stay relatively clean and tidy. I’ve toured several apartments, and most of them don’t pay closed attention to cleanliness in the shared space and hallway. Gym is very big with plenty of equipments. Amber, the housekeeping lady, and Jose the maintenance assistant are the only friendly and helpful employee there. Amber is always available to help with a smile. The housekeeping lady is diligent with keeping the complex extremely clean. Jose is sweet and has an amazing memory, I don’t know how he keeps track of all the maintenance requests even when they’re not requested through the portal. Besides them, everyone else is standoffish and rude. Especially Tyra. I still remember the one time I walked to the front lobby during opening hours between 10-10:15AM. I had no idea the staff were in a meeting since they sitting outside the office. She shot me a look and coldly told me to come back in 20 minutes. Diego (the front desk employee) makes me feel unwelcome whenever I ask him for help on small things. My apartment faces the courtyard, it’s quiet sometimes. For the most part, I would hear the train, loud car noises especially during Friday nights when there are sideshows, and random helicopter sounds or sirens. The utilities charges (especially for trash) are questionable. They kept getting more and more expensive. And I’m not sure why there were two charges for trash. Towards the end of my lease, Lydian charged me for a full month of rent even though I’m moving out mid November. They then proceeded to withhold the overpaid amount and said they will credit it back to me after move out statements are finalized. I have a feeling they’ve been doing this to other tenants. They charged me for cleaning and repairs even though I handed over my keys leaving the apartment completely empty and clean. I would’ve understood if they charged me for trashing the place, but i didn’t. Isn’t it the property’s responsibility to make the apartment ready for the new tenant? I’ve rented at 3 different places before Lydian and has never seen this type of shady operation. I also always get my security deposit 💯 back. One of the previous tenants also told me that he turned in his keys 2 days early. Lydian credited him the 2 days of rent and proceeded to charge him for “breaking the lease” because he moved it early. He even paid for the full month of rent prior to moving out. The fine ended up being greater than the credit…
TLDR: run farrr away from Lydian if you don’t want to deal with shady business.

Had a great tour with Amber. She really listened to my criteria and chose units that could best accommodate them. The details she described about the building made it feel really special and unique. I especially love the persisting theme of music in the different aspects of the Lydian. Ultimately went with another home but thanks to Amber's kindness and attention to detail, the Lydian definitely was toward the top of my list.

I wish I would have read these reviews before moving in here. I moved in Oct 24th 2023!!! yes not even a month ago. When I toured I was just given the key and told to make it quick because they were closing in 15 minutes. I didn't think nothing of it at the time, I had really liked the square footage and was excited. Diego was super nice at first then became cold once I signed my lease. There was two months free so when I paid the move in fees I paid Oct and Deposit thinking Nov was free and it wasn't. That wasn't explained to me. I never was even given a tour of the property, and when I asked about the amenities the vibes were crazy. Then the unit I rented is right next to the bus stop and it feels like the bus is in the room, I asked why that wasn't disclosed to me and was thinking to move to a different unit but was told by the MANAGER basically if I dont like it I can move out. Then when they were making another key for my kids I went down there and approached the desk with the leasing agents and manager. The manager looks at me rudely and says "give us one minute" they talk about some to do's for 10 minutes while I am standing there and then she says how can I help you? I just needed to pick up keys and she goes in the back grabs them and hands them to me. (where's the client services?) On top of the unprofessionalism and rudeness the keys didn't work. I am working on finding another home as we speak. To think I have been wanting to move here since August then I had to wait because my daughter's medical condition held up our move....to move in and be treated horrible. The whole staff in the front are rude, mean, unwelcoming, unprofessional. The only person who has been nice to me is the maintenance man.
I needed to move to Oakland because I need to be close to children's hospital, the elevator, my parking and the space in the unit are amazing with my daughters equipment. I am very sad we have to find somewhere else. Holland Partners needs to fire the whole front office staff.

So update... I didn't end up finding another 3 bedroom around so I ended up staying hoping they will get better.
NOPE NOTHINGS BETTER and the manager Tyra sucks!!!!

Absolutely inept and unprofessional management, both on-site and corporate management. The building is cheaply made and they have serious issues with marijuana smoke. The entire place constantly reeks of marijuana smoke and management says they can't do anything about it, though the lease says Lydian is a smoke free community. Stay away. Lydian and Holland Group only care to rip you off.

The building and price point for the apartment we decided to rent was enough value for us. We recently signed a lease and have some time to figure out what it will be like to actually live here. Some of the customer service antics were questionable but understand how different management companies operate. Once we secured the apartment the response to the application was quick and they were able to up our move in date as needed which we're thankful for.
