Hawthorn School

I have been associated with Hawthorn for more than ten years now and I am impressed by the school's commitment to growth as a community. Students and staff come and go but the spirit remains and seems to permeate the classrooms and activities in a perennial fashion. It is a positive spirit that is open to improvement and open to all kinds of people.

I love this school.

It has become a family with friends for life and endless wholesome activities and events. It' s my 2nd home.

This year, marks our 12th year.

Both my daughters attend Hawthorn School for Girls, and I am grateful for this special learning environment. Student centred learning, along with authentic character development, has allowed both my girls to make positive relationships and build their self esteem . This remarkable school supports each student through kindness, understanding and community. The teachers , staff and administration are generous and dedicated people who focus on learning, family and conviction.

I am so happy I found this school. I was looking for a preschool for my son and stumbled upon Hawthorn after weeks of touring other schools. From the moment I walked through the doors, all the staff and teachers made us feel welcomed. Everyone was so friendly and kind. My son immediately fell in love with the teacher and school.

Fast forward, a few years later, I enrolled my daughter into preschool and she quickly developed her vocabulary, social skills and never cried when I dropped her off. There was no question in my mind she would continue with Hawthorn and is currently attending kindergarten and loves her teachers and all her friends at school.

My biggest fear as a mom/parent of a daughter is all the social media, bullying, and negative messaging sent out to young woman today. I am so relieved she will be attending this school, as along with their strong academics, they really instil positive self esteem, virtues, values and confidence within the girls to handle these life stressors appropriately. We could not be happier with Hawthorn and blessed to be within this community.

Our son joined Hawthorn’s daycare when he was 2 and he’s almost 4 now. I must say that his time there has really helped him develop academic and social skills. He’s loved his teachers and staff since day 1. Coming from being home with mom, teachers and staff have been extremely warm and caring in making every transition a breeze for him; even a simple switch from toddler to Pre-school. I highly recommend the daycare to parents looking for a structured and academic-oriented option.

My years at Hawthorn were transformational in so many ways. It was here I truly found the love of learning. School wasn't just about memorization and marks - it was a place of discussion, reflection, and making connections. The teachers, students and staff created an environment where every student felt safe, loved and confident. There were so many opportunities to participate in sports and extracurricular activities so each girl was not only intelligent but also well-rounded.

My daughter started at Hawthorn this year and already loves it there. I couldn't be happier for her. I am so grateful that our family will once again be involved in the school and reap its beautiful blessings.

Hawthorn is a wonderful school and daycare, the teachers, ECEs and all the staff are amazing, kind and loving and they truly strive to make sure every aspect of the school is taken are of for the well being of the students; a thorough academic curriculum, healthy meals, clean, well maintained facilities, and the list goes on. We have nothing but great comments about Hawthorn and highly recommend it both as a daycare and as a school.
