Definitely worthy of its Top 50 in the World 2023 award! We had the Maido Experience and it was an amazing blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Worth every penny!
Excellent food, service, ambience, drinks, and presentation of food. We booked a reservation 2+ months in advance and there was already a lot of unavailability, so plan accordingly (3-4 months or more ahead if possible). We went with the a la carte menu and our family of 5 ordered appetizers to share, a main course, 3 desserts to share and one drink each and it came out to about 1200 soles (not including tip). We really enjoyed our experience, and I thought the ribs were delicious (the sauce on them was amazing). The desserts were also particularly amazing, especially the cacao mousse. Highly recommended!

Maido, Lima’s best Nikkei restaurant, was definitely on my shortlist for my Lima’s foodie visit. Apparently, it wasn’t only on mine 🥹
It was pretty hard to find a spot for their Maido experience, some $350 tasting experience. Nevertheless, I found one that fell on my last night in Lima. 👍
As ta raveler’s life have it I was running late and by the time I made it to Maido it was 1 1/2 h late…. 🤷♂️
Well they didn’t kick me out, they set me at the bar. A bar that was pretty much empty. The service was still implacable and I was able to see the fish and the “fishing”…
At that point, I decided to go à la carte with the full encouragement of my lovely server.
We cherry-picked the items, I had a great meal and actually had to cancel the last item as I was too full.
At the end of this delight, I got the bill… $90. 😳
I had an an absolutely memorable diner, at the world’s 6th best restaurant, for less then a $100❗
I guess I will not have to hitchhike back to New York after all. 😊

Foodies must see place in Lima. Delicious sushi, amazing flavor combinations and spot on service. The recommendations of the waiter were perfect!
Truly a unique and dazzling experience. The flavor combinations, textures, and visuals are unlike anything I've ever experienced. The service was impeccable; the staff really knew how to take care of you. They also did an excellent job at explaining the courses and how to consume them. It's a hefty price tag, but in the context of being a lifetime experience it is 100% worth it.
Totally disappointed!
1. We didn’t know you could order individual meals from the menu. Many parties were ordering meals at different times, so it was very chaotic.
2. It was extremely loud! The music was random and out of place.
3. The service was not extraordinary, with only 3/4 waiters for the entire place.
4. The food was okay.
I wouldn't have minded if this wasn't the #6 best restaurant in the world, and we hadn't paid 875PEN per person.

Went for the Nikkei experience and it’s the best nikkei I’ve had. It is considered the best Japanese Restaurant according to the Top 50 World Restaurants list. I would disagree with that BUT don’t underestimate the quality of Maido. Going in we were welcomed with a loud warm “welcome” in Japanese, which already made me feel like I was in my Japan home.
There is an a la carte menu but went for the experience since we wanted to try a bit of everything. There were some courses better than others but overall it was an amazing balance. It might not look a lot but it will satisfy you fully. The drinks were towards the stronger side even when we chose the sweeter ones, but still very tasty.
One small complaint I would have would be the staff could often be cold, especially the one who served us. I accepted since the courses were going well and I was in a good mood too. But they should be a bit more aware of it, especially if I am paying that price and always planning to tip.
The environment was cozy and not loud at all. Very casual and great for a date night or even for a casual lunch. Stop by if you are in Lima looking for a Nikkei restaurant.
