This is the spot to be, so nice and relaxing. I picked a super windy day to go and it was still amazing. Definitely worth seeing

Quiet park right next to the oldest continuously active Catholic parish in colonial America. Neat place.

Have visited a few times as an Amateur Radio Operator doing something called "Park's On The Air". This is Where you go to a State or Federal park, setup a small portable ham radio station, and make at least 10 contacts with people around the country and the world with a small radio and small antenna. The park rangers have never troubled me or my fellow amateur radio friends, except once when one decided to use a tree for an antenna support which is not allowed according to the Ranger. This particular Ranger was pretty rude about it as well, but haven't encountered anymore like that yet. It's a big spacious park, but they have limited parking. During the weekends in the summer the park fills quickly and the Rangers block the entrance road. They let cars in as cars leave, but that doesn't happen much. People usually stay for several hours at a time.
Lookup "TheTypicalHam" for more on Amateur Radio.

Nice not busy beach . Couldn’t get in the water it was filled with jellyfish! The jellyfish where clear so I didn’t know what it was till I came a across the hundreds of snot looking blobs in the sand . Honestly would not return.

Such a cute beach in St. Mary's County. We went mid day during the week, so it wasn't busy, but everyone says weekends get crazy busy.

This place was crowded when I visited on a warm spring day. People come here to swim fish and walk around. I came to explore and there is an abundance of animals here to see. Be aware of water snakes (harmless) and other critters. Also if you have the time leave this place better than you found it. I recommend brining a bag to fill with trash that either people have left behind or washed in with the tide. Everyone can do there part. This place is beatiful and deserving of some of your time to keep it that way.

This is a small, yet beautiful, state park. It has quite a bit of beach recreation area tucked away and can provide a wonderful getaway or family day! The hours of operation during the winter months are 8AM TO SUNSET and change to 7AM TO SUNSET in springtime and summertime. SUNSET IS A SPECIFIC TIME, and can be found by doing a simple google search of Leonardtown sunset and the specific day of the visit. This park has a beach parking lot which only holds about 30 cars when parked neatly. During the summer months and holiday weekends the park FILLS TO CAPACITY so if you are planning a trip here keep that in mind and be prepared. I would recommend trying to arrive before 9AM. The weekdays are usually much calmer but anything can happen. The park offers only one port-o-potty at the beach lot so keep that in mind when planning a visit. The beach parking area of Newtowne Neck State Park closes 15-20 minutes before sunset and the beach closing time will be displayed by the billboard at the beach parking area. This time changes with the variation in sunset times so keep this in mind. The park also offers a kayak launch lot to access Breton Bays wonderful scenery. The Kayak launch lot closes promptly at SUNSET. There is no overnight parking in this lot so if you put in here(with a Kayak) plan on being back and ready to leave the lot by sunset. This park is a wonderful way to relax in the natural beauty of Southern Maryland and great way to escape for a little beach-time!
