Located On The Corner Of Elgin Street And Albert Street Outside The National Arts Centre In Downtown Ottawa. They Play His Soundtracks By The Statue. Oscar Peterson Was A Canadian Musical Genius. He Ranks As One Of The World’s Greatest Jazz Virtuosos, And Continues To Influence Generations Of Musicians Everywhere.
This is probably one of my top five favourite statues in Ottawa. Not only do I really love the lifelike rendition, I also enjoy the musical soundtrack that is embedded in this sculpture, which makes this work sparkle. A wonderful addition to downtown Ottawa.
As a fan of Oscar Peterson I had to see this statue. It is well done, and just over the sound of traffic, you can hear some music.
I love how not only have they captured his likeness in bronze and included his instrument and a plaque, they’ve also included non stop audio of his songs!

I love a little break here listening to Peterson …… above the status, there is a 24/7 stereo playing his compositions and music. It’s relaxing just to feel the vibrant piano keys in an open space.
