A special hideaway for lovers of poetry. Incredible collection, with large-windowed reading space. A great respite from the fast pace of city life for times when you need some quite, contemplative space.

I've always loved this special library and center that serves our community of poets, educators, and the reading public. I'm relieved and delighted that it recently reopened. Clean, well-organized, quiet, well-lit, and so comfortable. Friendly, welcoming staff. Go to read, study, write, and just soak up the atmosphere! New York City needs more jewels like this!

A fantastic, one-of-a-kind poetry library, with a larger poetry selection than any other library in the country. It's also just a beautiful, peaceful space to read and do work. A hidden gem in NYC.

Very special place! Overlooking the water and reading poetry here became a little tradition and treat for me when I worked by WTC. It’s tucked away like a whimsical safe haven amongst the hustle and bustle. I miss those sunny, literary days at Poets House.

When I stumbled upon this tranquil oasis around 12 years ago I thought I died and went to literary bliss!…I am a New Yorker and to have found this peaceful retreat within one of my most places in NYC called Battery Park City, was just serious icing on the cake.
The Poets House is a wonderful place to sit, relax and feast your read. You can use this place to quietly meditate with your thoughts and write as well.I highly recommend this paradise because the view of the Hudson River and the surrounding park area is worth the visit!

A welcoming, and well-welcomed reprieve from this chaotic city. I love this neighborhood as well: The esplanade, the parks, the Hudson floating toward the ocean. Here, you get great views of all of that. Just a beautiful, airy space inside. Shelves of poetry from all periods. I just love it. They offer events, classes, and even what looks like a fellowship. They could easily charge a small entrance fee or membership only to access this space, but it's open to anyone who respects the space and possibly writing, and poetry, too.

Perfect place to do thinking work, reading and writing upstairs. Peaceful and airy, lots of natural light. Lots of tables and comfy seating. Overlooks a park and the Hudson River. A Le Pain Quotidian is just around the corner to grab coffee and water to bring with you. Excellent poetry collection and events as well as workshops. Has a great children's library downstairs. Also has a cart at the entrance where you can buy poetry books for good prices.
