Value for money, ordered two fat koek and burgers and a kiddies meal on a budget. Frugality is closet thing to wealth. We both enjoyed the mean and had leftovers for later and my son enjoyed the nuggets
One of the best burgers I've had in years. And not greasy as a person might expect with a vetkoek as the bun. Well worth it.
I ordered and paid for 12 plain vetkoeke. The lady said it will take 10min. So I waited in the car for about 12min. Went in and got the 12 plain vetkoek packed in brown paper inside a plastic bag...then...at home about 15km away we heated up some currymince and start cutting open the vetkoek...very close to raw inside, we put it in the microwave to at least heatup and try to get it less raw... Then the taste...oh no...its tasteless...dead...no salt...does not even smell good....the worst vetkoek i have ever tasted. All 10 left went into the bin. Could have rather bought vetkoek from the church bazaar...
Small vetkoekies I bought on Sunday 09 June just after 9:00 was not fried through. The middle section was not cooked and it was very heavy. BUT we love the vetkoeke, so I will be back another day.
We went there to buy fat cakes but was refused service, we wanted to buy 60 small fat cakes but they said they can't make it, they claimed that it is too much. When my brother called to complain to the manager she put the phone down in his ear. This is not the first time we had problems with this particular shop.
I won't recommend this take out at all.

Eventually spoke to what I presume is one of the owners, with her still going off. It is disappointing to see that her bad manners doesn't bother him at all.
This establishment is certainly not worth it .

The worst, arrogant and rude staff member that I have encountered at a take away outlet.
On 22 November 2023 at 11:48 I placed an order for two jumbo russians and a mince curry vetkoek.
The woman came from the kitchen and brought my food to the woman that took my order at the till. I asked her if it was order number 46 and the woman from the till said yes. I asked her if she was sure that it was jumbo russians and not the extra large russians. The woman from the till looked at the woman from the kitchen and laughed sarcasticly. I asked her why she laughed because I was only asking her whether she was sure that it was the jumbo russians and why she was lauging. She ignored me. I then asked her for the managers number. She said she does not have it but I must come back later because he will be there. I asked her the name of the manager and she said arrogantly that it is Johnny. I again asked her why she laughed and she said she knows how to check the food. I asked her what her name is and she hesitated to give it. She then mummbled something which I could not hear. I took out my phone and said I want to take a picture of her in order to show her manager which staff member was the one that was so rude to me. She then ran to the kitchen and refused to come out. I told her that she messed with the wrong person because I will be reporting her behaviour. The lady from the kitchen then started to apologise and I told her that the lady from the till must apologise because she was the one who was rude. The lady from the kitchen called the lady from the till and I asked her to apologise. She refused and started to raise her voice so much so that the two men that was sitting at the table heard her raising het voice. I decided to take my food and to leave because she was making a scene.
She did not want to apologise even after a gave her the chance to do so. She just became more rude and aggressive.
She needs to go for a course in client service because this is not the proper manner to treat any client.
Even the men sitting at the table shook their heads in disbelieve.
I will never support this outlet again and I will make sure that all my friends and family knows about my horrible experience at Fat Cake City in Hertzog street.
Good food does not help when the personnel are extremely rude and arrogant.
