A Disheartening Experience with Dr. Anwar

I am writing to share a deeply disappointing experience my wife had at Island Medical Centre (where all patients of Wood Wharf Health Centre are sent), particularly with Dr. Anwar. I hope this review serves as a caution to others considering this practice for their healthcare needs.

My wife went to the surgery seeking help and reassurance, but from the outset, Dr. Anwar's attitude was anything but supportive. His demeanor was glib, flippant, and condescending, making her feel not only uncomfortable but also disrespected. As a patient, she expected empathy and understanding, but Dr. Anwar's approach was dismissive and cold.

When my wife asked Dr. Anwar to follow up on overdue test results, his response was shocking. He bluntly refused, saying, "I’m not a phone book" and "that’s a job for receptionists." This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. A doctor's primary duty is to their patients, and this includes ensuring timely follow-up on important medical information. Dr. Anwar's refusal to take responsibility was not only frustrating but also worrisome for my wife's health.

What was most disheartening was Dr. Anwar's complete lack of concern for my wife's well-being. Not once did he ask how she was feeling or show any interest in her condition. This absence of basic human decency and compassion is alarming. A patient should never feel like a burden or an inconvenience to their doctor.

The entire experience here has left us questioning the quality of care provided. The unprofessional and uncaring attitude exhibited by Dr. Anwar is a significant issue that needs to be addressed. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and empathy, and it is clear that Dr. Anwar failed to meet these basic standards.

In conclusion, my wife's visit was a distressing and unsatisfactory experience. Dr. Anwar's unprofessionalism and lack of empathy are serious concerns. I strongly urge potential patients to reconsider their options and seek medical care from a practice that prioritises patient well-being and professionalism. We will be following this up with a formal complaint.

Online booking system doesn’t work, the verification number has not arrived last 7 days and even the registration took nearly 2 months.
My biggest concern is the practice is capable of offering almost none. Each time I was asked to go to emergency room, although it is not emergency. Even a simple procedure I used to get it done in another GP they asked me to go to A&E, rather than advising me to change the practice.
Fantastic location but it only is paid to exist.

Avoid Dr Ekaterina Korneeva at this practice. She falsified my medical records and is under investigation. She makes statements about patients that are untrue and is unprofessional.

There are a number of doctors at the practice that I feel are ignorant and have a negative attitude and behaviour. There have been occasions were I felt uncomfortable during my appointments with doctors at this practice.

When you raise a complaint to the practice about there quality of care and services they don't take this well and make you feel like your creating an issue. As a medical practice when patients raise a concern it should be taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.

The only good thing about this medical practice is they have some polite receptionist working there.

The GP did not fully listen to my concerns. They consider the BNF the only source of truth. If that website doesn't say something, then it means nothing else is possible and it's all covered by that particular website. Very closed minded. Doctors have no mind of their own to actually listen and think using their medical expertise because they are trapped in the guideline websites they all follow. Something is wrong with my health and what they do is tell me to wait 2-3 weeks and take ibuprofen rather than take the time to listen and do the tests to figure out what's wrong with me. They just leave me with no answers. Looking at his notes on my NHS app after the appointment, he asked me where I was treated before (another country), asked me twice to confirm it and then still wrote a whole different country, which only tells you the level of attentiveness and care he was capable of offering.

This gp has the most horrible and unprofessional staff I have ever witnessed .I have come multiple times for help and I had the worst experience ,any questions/enquiries that i would ask them they would look at me and laugh as it some joke.
A gp is met to be a safe place for everyone but unfortunately this was not the case with this gp I would advise anyone not to attend this practice honestly it is the worst.
{I feel like they acted like this in two reason either was black or muslimsor even both } !
