Bad experience at the ED.
Presentation with my daughter suffering pain and illness at approximately 9pm. Main existing diagnosis hodgkin's lymphoma/chemotherapy. She was given a triage caterory 2 card from Peter Mac for any such reason that she had to present to ED anywhere.

Waited a short time on triaging and was taken in for an ECG. Sent back to the dirty, cold, extremely uncomfortable waiting room. ECG results were given pretty quickly and cleared of any heart problems.
Waiting for hours and hours.... Daughter's pain level was high. I approached the head triage nurse several times as a concerned mother. The nurse was blunt in her retorts. The second time, she responded and very rudely said ..."What do you want me to do about it? She has had an ECG and has been triaged!"

Place wasn't overly busy late into the night. One waiting patient had an earache and was attended, and there were many other examples.

A disgusting ED and as bad as the nursing triage staff on that night. Security there all the time, obviously, to keep people in line.
She was seen eventually at about 4.30 a.m., with only 2 or 3 people left in the waiting room.

It didn't take the ED Dr long after bloods taken to have her admitted to the RWH and was there for 2 nights and then transferred to Peter Mac's where she spent another 3 nights.
My point. How dare they make an already very sick, very susceptible girl sit and lay around a filthy, germ ridden ED and obviously in so much pain that she couldn't sit but had to lay on filthy hard plastic chairs while watching others get seen, treated and leave.
Such an unpleasant experience and not able as a parent to do anything due to the threat of security. It felt like we were in a different country.
Totally shocked by the lack of empathy for a cancer patient and their total disregard of her category 2 status.
It's probably not usual to review a hospital but it is what it is

I had an eye injury with blurred vision and severe pain, yet I waited 4 hours in the emergency room with no help. While others with similar injuries received proper care, when I asked how much longer do I have to wait I been waiting from 2 am to 6 am the Asian male doctor was extremely rude. He told me that “people can be waiting for 7-8 hours and they will see me immediately if heart stopped.”

I understand emergency department can be extremely busy I really appreciate all the hard work you guys do. But the attitude from that doctor was completely unacceptable need some serious improvement

If you’re a single white female don’t go!
Using a fake name. But the hospital will know who I am and my contact details and leave an actual message with a return phone number that they will answer and not go to voicemail if they care about patients and what has happened to me.
Went to Royal Melbourne emergency yesterday afternoon. Picture 1 servre rash all over me caused by my tooth where burning pain has spread to my jaw, neck, eye, ear and head. Was advised prior to come in immediately and for MaxFax to be contacted as the tooth needs to be removed urgently. I had not ate in 2 days. Palexia not stopping pain. Pregnant nurse triaged me. I advised her my right eye sight is going. And advised her about paging MaxFax. The Asian doctor looked at me like I was trash told me he won’t do that and he doesn’t care about the rash or pain or me having trouble with my vision. Every Arab and Asian he immediately put through and helped. If there going out for smokes there not having a heart attack like he stated they where having when I advised him things are getting worse. I even gave the number of my dentist and he refused to call I pleaded to make that page he refused. I used the bathroom. I found myself on the floor outside of the bathroom. I learnt the patients that are white and waiting advised them. I had to go back in the bathroom to spit out further tooth that had broken and had sharp pain near my breast as their is no mirror I couldn’t see my injuries. I pleaded I’ve been injured and more tooth has broken out. No wheelchair, no one checking my injuries was told to keep waiting. In unbearable pain I again pleaded with the doctor who told me his the head of emergency (are you kidding me) that I have injuries, lost a piece of my tooth when I collapsed, the pain on my right side is out of control. He berated me for having allergies and said he won’t look at my injuries in the collapse as if happened whilst he was on break. Finally agreed to contact max fax this is hours later and they where happy to see me and questioned why wherent they immediately contacted. He said he will not allow me to see them. I begged to speak to another doctor to him and the nurses and all refused stating no one is higher than him. I left crying and injured and in pain whilst the doctor and nurses stared at me for over 20 minutes. Obviously not busy.
I called today. Was advised minutes after I left they called me which is a joke. I asked why didn’t anyone call my mobile and was told that’s up to the head doctor so he refused to call me knowing I’m still at the hospital and apparently only after I left their sight I was called into being seen. Doesn’t make sense?
I told Peter and others I’m scared, I’m in pain and when I found a mirror I saw the horrific injuries that now I can’t lift my left arm properly (picture 2) and that picture doesn’t show how truly horrific the injury is. No one tried to help me after telling them what happened. No care for my well being. Afraid to reach out for help after such a horrific experience by those that should care and get off their butts and do their job. No contact from the hospital to help me get treatment and ensure they make me well and safe at Royal Melbourne like we all should be.
I worked for the emergency services for years if I did that I would be fired.
They don’t care. They care for those are not citizens for the cash and racism and sexism is shocking.
Wish I could leave a 0 star rating.
I’m crying. No one should go through this.
To all white women going alone please go somewhere else. Don’t have this happen to you. I’m horrified what has become of this hospital and the complete lack of care to all patients.

The ED was absolutely filthy, and the staff did not know how to dress a PICC line that they left bleeding for almost 5 hours. Cancer patient was sent home still bleeding.

Staff do come equipped with sympathy. In spite of a long wait time, I have been treated very well mentally. Many new and effective medicines were given to me, which work kinda well!

I was initially trying to avoid going to the ED because of the presumptions that I had in my mind, but couldn't find a GP at that hour and ended up having to go here. By far a much better experience than many private clinics that I've been too.
I appreciate the friendly and patient personnel, nurses, and doctors here. Dr Sha visited me and I could not be more grateful!
Clean modern environment too.
