This museum was worth the trip! There was so much to see and take in and everything was very well preserved. The outside had many statues of Alamo figures and different elements that told the story of the Alamo. The larger building housed all the artifacts and is over 2 floors. So much to see! The narration of the event by Phil Collins was definitely one of the highlights. The full scale model was a nice addition to his narration.
Parking is only about a block away and the museum is right in downtown San Antonio. It’s definitely busy down there but the museum is definitely immersive so it’s not a distraction!

The Alamo was a great experience, as well as being free to the public. The staff were friendly and polite and answered all my questions. The tour had plenty to see. For those who aren't familiar with The Alamo there are plenty of informational posts to help you reimagine what happened here.

It's definitely one of the most interesting places to visit, and for those who are into history and seeing it up close first hand, then a must to see.
It's beautiful displays a lot of Texas revolution history.
The gift shop is big and full of nice merchandises.

Iconic landmark in San Antonio that I stop by any time I'm in the downtown area. They are making some changes to the Plaza that look nice too. The older I get, the more I respect the care given to the downtown San Antonio area. I was born and raised in SA and worked downtown for 10+ years but have now lived out of state for about 15 years....

What a great feeling and atmosphere. The history behind those walls is so intriguing. If you've never been, it's definitely worth it. The only thing that takes away from it is the city around it. Once inside, you quickly forget about that, though. Phil Collins narrates the entire battle over a replica of the fort. Each individual wall has lights that shine on it to let you know what happens in that area and where the heroes fighting that day likely died. I would recommend going to the collections center first to hear that. That way, when you come out, you can go to those spots knowing that.

Great source of historical information! We really enjoyed our visit to the Alamo. We did the self-guided tour. They offer guided tours and you can walk around the outside and go into the church (Alamo) for free. You have to pay if you want to go into the exhibit building. The collection in there was very interesting. Seeing a letter that Davy Crockett wrote was awesome!

Great place to visit and its a free. Please read and watch movies before you arrive. I wish they could operate two shifts for opening after hours to accommodate the late comers after convention or people trying to avoid hot weather. The weather is too hot and the gift shop closes too early. Recommend go there for the early morning scene when the weather is cooler, but you can only see from the outside.
