To Maridaki

Great Seafood restaurant off the beaten path. Extremely fresh seafood. They have frozen and fresh seafood options to pick from. You usually pay 1 EUR extra for the fresh option. Remembwr to go early for the fresh catch of the day as they sell out fast. The food is on an extreme high level. And very affordable. Highly recommend the appetizer plate as it comes with a ton of seafood.

Came here for lunch, and got the
- second class fish
- squid ink taglioni
- fried squid (calamari)

Overall I enjoyed this place decently, but wouldn’t say it’s the best food i’ve experienced so far. 3.5/5, and it is value for $. more details below

second class fish: would only recommend if you’re comfortable eating fish w a lot of bones. not suitable for children, and it was a bit fishy :( the peppers that came with it was good though!

taglioni: generous portion with squid and it was pretty yummy. Good for sharing for 2-3pax (depending on your appetite)

calamari: good portion and batter was okay but it wasn’t outstanding in particular

special shout-out to the semolina on the house because that was soooo good! we demolished it haha. service was lovely too

the toilet was especially clean and nice!

It seems like I've rated a lot of five stars. However, every experience is based on others, recommendations, and just happenstance. This was a recommendation by locals, we met by having great conversations. It was very good, full of flavor and cooked to perfection, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I can not say enough. We had the 300 grm Catch of the Day, I can't tell you the last time we had fish this good..

This restaurant is amazing. I went around 6:30pm which is early for locals so I didn't have to wait at all. As a solo traveller I was so glad to see some other solo diners, and didn't feel out of place and felt very welcome to stay as long as I wanted even as it got busier later.

The food is incredible. I had the mussels and sea bream (which was a fish of the day) and both were so fresh and cooked to perfection. They were cooked simply, so they brought out the flavour of the fish. They also gave me a desert and raki on the house which was such a nice gesture.

The service was great, the food came really fast and the waiters were so friendly and attentive without being pushy. Even the cats were friendly!

I would recommend this place to everyone in Chania.

Came here twice for dinner and I’m sorry to say I have mixed feelings. I would give it 3.5 half stars if I could.

First day was great, we the grilled cuttlefish and seafood omelette (tasty but also not a difficult dish to make). Second day we had the anchovy spaghetti (which was over cooked and not very tasty), and fish soup (also below average). You can tell from the pictures. It was quite disappointing as we had a good experience just the day before. The mushroom starter was nice though.

So it’s a little bit of a hit or miss, I’m afraid. Service can be slow as they are often packed and seem understaffed. However I have to say their prices are fair and reasonable especially compared to some other places along the port.

Our favourite meal of Chania. Small authentic Greek seafood restaurant. We waited about 10 min for a table but came a bit “early” (7:30pm). We got the fish soup, fish of the day, fried calamari (delicious), and wine (4 euro for 500mL). Was not expensive at all.

Highly recommend.

Friendly service, fair prices. You usually have to wait for a table, but it's worth the wait! :) All dishes are delicious! We dined here four times during our one week stay. We were treated to dessert and Raki after our meal.
