Great place with a very beautiful fountain, really impressive, especially looks great at night

It's a really pretty fountain and far enough away from the city center that it wasn't crowded.

Love this fountain place just located in front of city Cathedral. Fountain is with souls of water which I like so I meditate myself by spending some time there. These fountains surrounded by small rocks under the trees.

Beautiful and majestic fountain, must visit. But no much tourists are in that place amazingly.
Beautiful monument with magnificent stone architecture.
including two humanbeing giving water jars while riding a bull and horse.

Like all stone fountains In Munich, a new architectural fountain built in 20th century with 4 women holding the 4 corners of life. full of meaning and great place to relax on a summer afternoon.

Another one of Munich's stunning detailed sculptures/fountains. It was the only fountain we saw during our visit in February, the rest are boarded up to protect them through the winter months.

a very relaxing place where mushrooms made of stone are built in an artificial pool with many stones places to sit under the trees just in front Frauenkirche.
very pleasant place to bring your children where they can play on the mushrooms and feel the cool water.
Just next to this place a bronze map of the Munich center very well designed.

A stone fountain with 3 young fishermen spraying the water and holding fiches. a great place with clear blue water to take a picture in Marienplatz.

Crowded on the day of visit. weather was really nice and streets were clean.
The building around this area is very historical and dated back centuries however preservation and maintenance is really excellent.
A good place for photo op or selfie.
will go again if opportunity permits.

The fountain is located in Marienplatz close to the information center. It can be easy to miss if it's really busy.
The fountain does look quite interesting with people holding buckets around the side and a single fish on the top of the fountain. The buckets all have water trickling from them. The sides of the fountain has carvings on it. It was an interesting looking fountain.

Quite an interesting looking fountain close the gate by Karlsplatz. You will most likely pass it if you head towards Marienplatz from Karlsplatz.
The two different coloured statues make it look interesting and it does have a bit of water below.

Very calm place right next to a park. I've seen people sitting next to it and study and read. Even though I don't know much about the story/history behind it, these statues and the fountain is very attractive. It's worth to pay a visit and spend some time there if you visit Munich.

Was walking along Tal towards Isar Gate when I came across this little fountain. At the centre of the fountain is a sculpture of Mercury, classically dressed in a round hat, traveler's cloak and winged temples. The water in this fountain is actually drinkable, which was especially refreshing as the fountain in set amongst the shade of trees.

The Wasserpilz Brunnen is a cute and creatively designed fountain located on the forecourt of the Frauenkirche. The whole structure looks a little like a mini amphitheatre with the seating formed of around the central fountain containing mushroom sculptures providing the outlet for the water.

A cool place to sit and watch the world go by.

Located on Neuhauserstrasse, just after entering the street from Karlstor is this cute little fountain. The centrepiece of the fountain is a sculpture of a Satyr (or possibly Dionysius) and boy. The water sprouts from the satyr's mouth as if spitting at the little boy. Very cute and worth a detour if in the area

This Fischbrunnen is a fountain in the middle of Marienplatz called the Fish Fountain because of the sculpture of a fish atop a central column. The fish alludes to the past when the Marienplatz served as a market place and the fishmongers used to hang their still living goods in baskets in the fresh fountain water. Around the column is three young butchers apprentices pouring water into the basin of the fountain.

There's a tradition that on Ash Wednesday, the mayor and chamberlain of Munich will wash an empty wallet in the fountain to ensure that the city funds will be replenished again next year.

Located at the western end of Maximiliansplatz is this landmark fountain of the city. This beautiful, monumental fountain was built to commemorate the construction of Munich's water supply system and named for the House of Wittelsbach, who ruled over Bavaria for more than seven centuries.

The centrepiece of the fountain is two central bowls, arrange with the smaller over the larger where the water cascades from a central bowl into a large bowl below. The central fountain is flanked by two marble statues, of a man and a woman, both riding seahorses. Allegorical figures representing the benefits and destructive natures of water.

Kein Trinkwasser. Kinder planschen gerne auf der Fläche; Kreisrund.
Ein einfacher kleiner Brunnen, nicht besonderes.

The Wittelsbacher Brunnen is a monumental, two level fountain situated at the southeast end of Maximillianplatz where the square meets Lenbachplatz. This is a large scale fountain that is impressive to see while sightseeing in Munich.

Originally built between 1893-1895 by German sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand. Here you will see a centre chalice shaped fountain which water gushing from its top and spilling into a basin. From this top level basin, water then spills into a much larger ground level basin below, through fish sculptures embedded into the fountain wall. The wall is adorned with interesting engravings. You will also see two large allegorical figures situated upon the wall, flanking the centre basin and providing compositional balance to the fountain.

Note: You can walk behind the fountain when entering Maximilianplatz and see the top level basin, centre fountain and two allegorical sculptures from behind and more closely.

In the end, this was one of the best fountains we found during our recent visit to Munich. It is one of the first that we would seek to return to see again next time we are in the city.

The Water Mushroom Fountain (Wasserpilz Brunnen) is one of the more creative and enjoyable fountain structures around the Old City of Munich. It is situated just in front of the historic Frauenkirche along Augustinerstrasse.

What you find here is a circular impression into the ground at small platz in front of the church. The impression is lined with various shaped stone slabs which create a great number of sitting places for those seeking a rest here. Amongst the stone slabs there are two water spouts gushing out water which streams down to a fountain pool at the bottom of the impression.

In the pool, there are numerous mushroom shaped sculptures for which the fountain takes its name. The mushrooms have tiny spouts adding more water to the pool. Note, the fountain is also surrounded by tall trees, providing much shade for visitors during summer months.

In the end, I really like Wasserpilz Brunnen. It is a creative design, child-friendly and quite interesting to see and experience. Have a look-see before or after your visit to Frauenkirche.

There are many small fountains in the Old Town of Munich including Merkurbrunnen (Mercury Fountain) along Tai Street.

What you see here is basically a replica sculpture of the Roman god of mythology and religion Mercury which is housed at the Bargello Museum in Florence, Italy. The sculpture depicts Mercury in a classical pose. The statue is placed upon a small pedestal with four spouts emptying water into a small circular well.

In the end, this is an interesting fountain monument in Munich, particular if you enjoy Greek and Roman history and mythology. Have a quick look if you find yourself walking along Tal street.

Brunnenbuberl (fountain boy) is a small fountain that is interesting to see when walking along Neuhauser Straße in the Old Town. You'll find the fountain along a building corner just near Karlstor. This is one of quite a few interesting and quirky fountains situated around the Old Town.

Here you will see a bronze sculpture of a nude boy, covering his eyes as a Satyr above him spits water at him. The water spills into a basin pool below. Brunnenbuberl is a curious and perhaps provocative composition. Have a quick look and then carry on with other intended sightseeing in the area.

Good with different restaurants
