Great service, the host was warm and welcoming, my server Nabil was top notch. I came in for a croque madame at lunchtime and it did not disappoint! The fresh bread basket was delicious (try the cranberry nut bread with the house made butter...omg). Topped it off with coffee and profiteroles ❤️ An absolutely lovely experience!
Woke up to a sore throat and the chicken veg soup was the perfect solve. 4.999999 stars. Just .000001 off from a full 5 because the soup cup fell out fell right through the bottom of the paper takeout bag. Thankfully the soup cup is very sturdy and the impact with the sidewalk didnt blow to cap off, just very light leakage and it was still hot when i got back to my office. I def recommend communicating to guests that the bags just don't stand up to the steam and to hold from the bottom.

Simple and small place, but nice people and excellent tasty breakfast options. I will return next Monday.
There are not too many variations of sandwiches. The coffee was very good. The cost for small coffee with caramel 7.68$ is way too high compared to its taste.

Perfect place to pick up some higher quality baked goods for breakfast. Everything we tried was amazing and clearly freshly prepared. It makes the Panera down the street seem like a halfway house. My wife absolutely loved this bakery and we will definitely eat here again when we’re back in town.
Good food fast! They’re food was very satisfying and they were quick with the drinks. From the back of the line to having our full order in about 3 minutes during lunchtime rush. If you’re in the area and looking for a quick bite I’d definitely stop by here
I held a party last week at La Tomate for my staff and it was a lovely experience. The food was wonderful--the sea scallops and the lamb chops were a few of our favorites--however even better than that was the kind, attentive service and the view out onto Connecticut Avenue. The owner and her team went above and beyond to make it a smooth, enjoyable evening and we truly appreciate it. We will certainly plan to hold future celebrations at La Tomate.
Really solid local cafe. Reminds me of old school hole in the wall spots that are becoming rarer with the rise of chain coffee shops. Everything bagel w/ bacon, egg, and cheese was fresh. Will definitely come back
We love this place, food is truly amazing and price is reasonable. Service is always impeccable and we always love returning. It is very busy inside and we had dinner outside and their sitting outside on the side street is perfect and much more quiet.
The staff is awesome. Today, Jamaal, Ashley, and Tyrone gave me the best service. This place is awesome and huge on service. Tyrone makes the best chicken salad sandwich in the DMV.
Menu items are great. Nice selection of drinks. Service is generally quick. Although an open grill diner, food orders are not customizable. That prevents the 5-star rating.
Visited Le Diplomate on a weekend trip and had the most amazing experience! We intended on just stopping in for a quick dessert but were so pleased with the whole experience. Our server (whose name I can’t remember!) was so personable, and funny while also being professional and attentive. We were served immediately with bread (which was delicious) and water for the table. I ordered an espresso martini which was delicious! Tasted like liquid dark chocolate! We decided to order some appetizers and went with the ricotta ravioli and the macaroni, which were both unbelievable. For dessert we ordered the profiteroles which were amazing but the star of the show was the passionfruit tart. I generally don’t like fruit tarts all that much but this was legitimately magical. It was so good we ordered a second and probably would’ve ordered more if we weren’t so full. Besides the food, the ambiance was so lovely. Feels like an authentic french restaurant. Lively atmosphere, busy and bustling in the best way! It was a little bit out of our typical restaurant budget but we all agreed that it was more than worth it and I absolutely would come back. It was the best part of our whole trip.

Great value for money! Having spent 5 days in DC, we found this place on our last day. We had the pancakes, blueberry muffin, chocolate shake and a cappuccino all for less than $20! The pancakes were freshly made and delicious as was the shake. The restaurant itself was a little strange as it used to be a buffet style but now it has 2 counters at the back where they will make food and coffee fresh. Would recommend a visit.
Took my family here to celebrate my wife’s promotion. The food is good, the atmosphere is great. Our server Christopher is awesome. Very professional and attentive. Knows the menu well. Gave good advice on the menu.

Good cheap breakfast. The homefri3s were a little soggy .but basically, it was the best value for DC standards.
This is one of the few places that outlived the COVID lock downs and full telework that hit DC in 2020. They provide fresh cut meats (as in cut right in front of you) when you order turkey and other sandwiches. Please try their Korean beef wrap with spicy mayo, you'll love it! The place does fill up quickly for lunch, and the line can be long but worth every penny. Their bread is baked in house, and so are their cookies! I do suggest take out though...their ventilation system is not enough to handle the cooking and you will leave there smelling like food. Otherwise, great sandwiches!
Had the ham and cheese croissant and the passion fruit tart. Awesome flaky croissant, came with a really good small side salad. The tart was very creamy and tons of passion fruit flavor. Nice seating area inside, had really great service as well.
Really nice location with the fountains and the park around. Also opened a bit longer in the afternoon compared to other cafés around.

The cappuccinos were good but unfortunately way too hot and you only get them in a To-Go-Cup. The cake was average and you get it in a plastic box with a plastic spoon.

Went here on Friday and today. Friday was to-go (fast service in a completely fully place). Food was great. Sunday we decided to sit down and eat. Service was a little slow but the food was great.
Came here on a Monday afternoon and got seated immediately. The bread was slightly burned but the parts around were delicious. The charcuterie was good, but a little salty. The shrimp from the salad (and the buttery sauce) was the highlight of the meal. It was one of the dishes the waiter recommended and we would as well. The steak was cooked exactly to the right temperature, and dipped in the butter sauce from the shrimp salad was a great combo. The waiters were walking around often to see what we needed, so service was great. Definitely recommend a stop!
My dish, Cavatelli, Ricotta, Salsiccia E Broccoli, was wonderful and recommended to me by the staff. I had not been to this restaurant for many years and I was happy that the food and service was still exceptional! I will visit them again soon!
The owner of this restaurant is so kind. Service is extremely fast, we got our food in less than 3 minutes. That’s record time ;) Amazing french toast and hash-browns which taste delicious and like homemade comfort food. I Highly recommend all DC tourists to support this local restaurant.

I had an excellent meal at La Tomate! A friend and I shared the arancini, which was delicious, and both got pasta dishes. My cacio e pepe was superb - perfectly al dente pasta and super flavorful (the poached egg on top was an excellent touch). Presentation was beautiful and was backed up with flavor. Strong negronis and a decent selection of wines. Definitely recommend if looking for an Italian bite around Dupont!
Great food, drinks, and view on the rooftop bar. I had the meatballs, branzino, and lemon drop, both mock and alcohol infused. The only downfall, not of the restaurant's doing, was the over the top price for parking in the garage.
Disappointing evening. While the restaurant itself was attractive, the acoustics were terrible. We frequently misunderstood or did not hear what our waiter said as it was very noisy even though the space was only about a third full. We practically had to shout across the table to be heard.

Because of the good reviews and the location - we chose this restaurant. Unfortunately, it turned out as a big disappointment. The service was okay. The waiter seemed to be in a bad mood and was not charming at all. The biggest disappointment was the food. The portions are really small (as you can see in the picture/24$) and all three of us agreed: it was tasteless. In my opinion, the only great thing was the Prosecco which was fantastic! All over: I would not recommend the restaurant.

I've been coming here for years. While I miss having their buffet, pre-COVID, I think their grab-n-go Korean bowls are delicious and I'm super happy with the extended Korean food offering. Always delicious and staff are very friendly!
Post-Covid, they no longer have a salad bar or open buffet. Go to the back of the cafe to order food from the grill. Breakfast, sandwiches, & fries are great. We got cheeseburger and chicken tenders one day and the kids were happy. There is also a coffee area in the back.

This was a great place to rest and re-energize after a busy walking day in DC. The coffee was delicious and the atmosphere and views were amazing. The location is phenomenal and super convenient regardless of what you're viewing in DC.
The food itself is a little lacking. It's not bad, but it definitely feels like museum quality food. However, the location itself, the overall feel inside, and service, make this a perfect stop. Especially on hot summer days, this cafe feels like an oasis.

Me and my family saw this cafe while walking around Washington DC and decided to stop to rest and get a snack. We got into the line and waited to order our food. After waiting in the line for quite a bit, we got to the register and we were informed that only two things (out of the whole menu) were remaining. We would have really appreciated knowing that before waiting in line. Then, it took around 10 to 15 minutes to get two slices of cake and a pepsi. If this was not enough, we were ask, in a very unkind way, to eat outside instead of inside, since the cafe was closing. I really don’t recommend this place.
5 slices of bacon for one order....more than generous portions....friendly staff.
Service was just average, the pastries were pretty mid. Not impressed whatsoever, order a flat white and tasted burnt.
The staff was rude, I couldn't immediately understand the payment system, I asked twice where to sign after payment, he looked silently and then chose the size of the tip for himself, and did everything silently, it's unacceptable. He saw that we were tourists. If you're annoyed by your work and you can't work as people, find another job. People go to you in the morning for breakfast, it's disgusting to start the day like this.
Staff is always the best, great beer selection, and sammies! Awesome neighborhood spot with tons of yummy local stuff.

A fairly priced eatery near several federal buildings.
The food was very good and price wise, It was also very reasonable. The restaurant had a very nice clear view to some of the sculptures outside. Or you can eat outside. The food itself is a little deceiving. It looks like it’s going to be just pretty basic, but it’s was actually very flavorful.
Loved this!! Such a cute place and tucked into the sculpture garden. We had lunch here and it was a nice rest before we continued on our tour of the mall and museums. I had been dying for some Espresso and this Cafe delivered. Also couldn't recommend more for anyone to try the lemon tarragon chicken salad sandwich.
We ordered two flat bread pizzas a tuna wrap and roast beef sandwich. The regular cheese pizza was not too good. The california pizza was good. The roast beef sandwich and tuna wrap was ok. Hiwever, we had pla piece of wood chip come out of the wrap. We asked for a new one and the counter lady thought that it was part of the tuna! We did get a replacement but it was not a pleasant experience.

I have been wanting to try this place for the past 10 years and I kept forgetting to go when I was actually hungry. I digress, they held our table even though we were over 20 minutes late. The place is fine and they're clearly understaffed but the good was good! We got the Bolognese, cacio pepi, added chicken and, the cheese plate. They're not the best Italian I've had but they're good. Give them a try, especially the cacio pepi.

Baaad choice with this restaurant. We we're wondering why all restaurants are busy and this was almost empty. Our server looks like he's high on something. Slow. He gave us the wrong info about the time between brunch and diner. He said till 4. And was till 3. Instead of taking care customer he was having a good time and chatting with almost sleeping employees behind the bar. Drinks was terrible. Espresso martiny was sooo sweet and strong. And it looks like a shot instead of a drink. Beer was flat and tasted bad. We didn't get bread like others. Food wasn't bad, but calamary what we ordered wasn't crispy. Bu chewi and very siesoning and salty. Dip sause was terrible. Chicken wasn't that bad, but mine was cold. And for 32$, it should be at least a little warm. Picture below. Other food was ok. Anyway. For the price we paid we didn't get service quality and food quality. Terrible service. Food is below average. Definitely not recommended. Next time, we would rather wait in line to different restaurants.
Fabulous corner French style coffee shop. Stylish decor without blaring music for a change. I ordered an almond croissant and a latte. Both items were excellent. The service was fast and friendly. I would return on a future trip to DC!
A restaurant with a french name that serves only italian food, serving italian food that wasn’t done properly in anyway. Didn’t enjoy and it the dishes that I ordered. The bread was under fermented and under baked, the salmon and the soup weren’t seasoned and the Tiramisu was plain.
We had the egg sandwich and Korean bbq beef wrap, and they are so goooodddd!!!! The food might look simple but they are super fresh and delicious , especially our bbq beef was made-to-order! There are many options for topping, cheese and bread to choose from, and the counter ladies were very friendly and give us great recommendations! The way the sandwich was wrapped also make it very easy to eat, without making a mess. So glad we found this hole-in-a-wall place when walking around town.

Once we were finally seated, it took ANOTHER 15 min before we were even given water, let alone our order taken. I called to make sure their 1/2 off pasta Wednesday I’ve read so much about was occurring before coming. Was then informed after ALL our waiting that it has ended.
The food was such - disappointment. The portions were so small, we had to get additional food on the way home. Let alone, it not being great and super expensive for the size.
You would think they would try to make up this terrible experience…. They did nothing. I cannot recommend enough going to a different restaurant on the wharf. I live a 10 min walk away and have gone to almost all restaurants. Literally ANYWHERE else is better. If you want a nice Italian spot, go to Osteria Morini I’m Navy Yard where I had the best spaghetti of my life and it’s just as pretty instead.

Found this restaurant on a week long trip to DC. We came here for breakfast 4 of the 7 days. The food is amazing and cooked fresh. I loved the fresh fruit and bacon, egg, and cheese sandwhiches. It is not overpriced either, much cheaper than most places, especially for the quality. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place!
I had heard of a hole in the wall restaurant that shaved the meat when you ordered and had a hard time believing the deliciousness and portions. The kid I took even complained about "too much meat" but I think he's out of his mind. This should ve the place you should grab a quick bite if ever you are in the area.
We came for the half off pasta night on Wednesday and for the price it's honestly not bad! We had a res for 4 people and they seated us inside. There is an offer for a 1/2 carafe for $26 as well. It may be even better to try and go Wednesdays from 5-7pm to get both the half off pasta dishes and happy hour drink prices.

Officina at the Wharf is a nice place to dine if you want to have a relatively higher end dining experience. We were sat at terrace which was very nice as it was close to water. Staff were quite friendly. We went there on Wednesday when they have certain menu items for half price. 3 out of 5 people including myself were quite happy with the food and taste👌. The size of the dish may seem small at the first glance but after eating I understood that the portion was just right. Drink on the other hand were a bit pricy. Overall great experience.
As a St Louis native, I love good Italian food and it’s always interesting to visit other cities to see where they set the bar. La Tomate does an all around good job and the food was very good. The decor was nice but not noteworthy. Service was great. Would be happy to go back, but will keep looking for the noteworthy Italian place in DC.

And the Giardino salad was pretty good as well. I really would give this a 3.5 if I could apply half points…. What are you all thinking with the $15 deposit per person too, I get it that you want people to show up and all but no other restaurant does that. I will ding you for that and for food that is good not great!
Stopped for breakfast while on vacation in DC. Staff was friendly, restaurant was clean. We just ordered simple breakfast sandwiches, but they were prepared fast and tasted great. They do have an extensive menu and pricing for the area was very competitive. Wish I would have found it the first day and not on our last day.
Went here recently and they only served turkey and ham sandwiches. They didn’t serve the grilled sandwiches, salad, or any of the sides. Their fridge was warm and they had no napkins. I was very disappointed by my service as the wait staff was also very unpleasant.
Excellent value for the money:) moist juicy cheese burger, very crunchy hot fries, and drink (shake or soft drink) no strawberry so I just got a coke all for $12. Lunch time special. This is not the kind of meal you try to finish in one sitting especially if you are headed back to work. Eat half and save half for later. You'll be glad you did.
We enjoyed the setting, with good views of the street. Ordered a sandwich on their housemate bread and enjoyed it very much. Radishes were not fresh at all, but it was not the season, I guess. Service was very slow and I just chased the guy down to just pay.
What a great brunch location. Had the please of taking my family here for brunch. Had the BEST server, “Tyeesha” who greeted us like we were family. Gave us a run down of the menu, along with helping us with our picky 12 year old son. Had a great meal, pleasant environment and would tell anyone looking for a fresh, organic meal at a very reasonable price, please check out this restaurant.
We really enjoyed our meal here! It’s such a cute and calm vibe, and the service was good! The food we thought was a bit over priced, but everything tasted good so we weren’t upset about it:) the pastries tho were DELICIOUS! We ate the quiche Lorraine, the chicken soup, the fruit tart, and the passion fruit tart!

The avocado bacon egg sandwich was okay, the egg was fried in too much oil for my preference. An egg should not be dripping oil that much. But it wasn't bad.

First time coming here. Below are my first impression:

- I finally ordered their specialty New Yorker sandwich. It is has great flavour with toasted bread. I ate it ALL instead of saving the other half sandwich for later.

The office crew might have tried everything on the menu here already, and there's not a bad option we've found :) plus I like to peruse the take-away beer selections. Wines are just as fun to explore, though I haven't taken a bottle from here yet. Prices are a bit higher than other options around, but very healthy and portions are satisfying.
Breakfast here was quick, tasty and very reasonably priced. The people behind the counter were polite and patient as we figured out what we wanted and asked for extra options. We got the pancakes and some bagels, and the bagel was perfect! Pancakes were really fluffy and stacked. The coffee had been on too long, but honestly we were happy with our meal.
I had a great experience at Paul Franklin. I was extremely excited about the diverse options of sandwiches, salads, pastries and more. I went on a double date there which was great. They have plenty of seating and space to get work done if you’re looking to study.
I really like there egg and cheese on croissant but the price increased each I purchased the same items. That's not a good business practice. When I inquired, the gentleman became very defensive. I have decided to take my business elsewhere because of ethical concerns.
A hidden gem! Great food, good prices, and plenty of variety. I found this place by accident and I'm happy I did! I cannot recommend this spot enough 👌🏾
Not sure what was going on but there were barely no food nor drinks available at all, trashbags in corners and all chairs upside down on the tables. And this was on friday morning at 9am.
The food here is good. The restaurant itself is a little strange to navigate, I guess it used to be kind of a buffet-type restaurant but now it’s just a sandwich counter and a coffee counter. But the sandwiches were made with care and the coffee was tasty, so I certainly recommend! Just don’t expect a fancy experience.
Came in half hour after lunch menu started; didn't have hot drinks, didn't have salads. However, the turkey sandwich was delicious and the place is very clean.
I've patronized this restaurant for lunch and dinner many times, but recently I tried their endless Italian brunch and it was awesome. Their dining ambiance was comfortable and relaxing. The service was excellent and the owner is such a lovely woman (also black woman owned business). If you love fine upscale dining and Italian food this is the place. Their charcuterie and meats are high quality and great tasting. The desserts are phenomenal. I look forward to coming back to dine again soon.
Went for coffee before a show in the neighborhood. SOOPER nice people working there. Pretty decent beer selection, too, with a lot of local brews. Definitely recommend.
Love, love, love this place. Is it a little pricey? Yes. But this is DC and the quality is fantastic!! Seriously…best almond croissant I’ve ever had. The sandwiches rival what I ate when I lived in Germany and the coffee is very good. There’s also seating available both inside and outside. I would go here every day if I could! It’s probably for the best that I don’t live nearby but I wish I did!
They definitely did ask what I wanted on my sandwich. The plac was not very busy at 12:30 pm. Pictures of a steak and cheese (spicy) and a gyro. A very good sandwich.

Solid spot to drop in for a sandwich and a coffee, breeze through for snacks, or putz around for scanning their vast beer and wine selection depending on your mood. Items are well priced and the staff is super friendly. The cafe does offer vegetarian and vegan sandwich options. The chai tasted strange.

Somehow my sandwiches at home never turn out as well as the ones from Oxford Cafe. Lucky i get to eat there when i come in to the office on occasion. And the owners are absolute angels - some of the kindest people i've met.

Friendly and fast, no idea how the sandwiches are made so well so quickly by just one person. Plus they have cut fruit and hard boiled eggs in the mornings.
I like their meat portions on our meal. They are generally generous with it. The location is great from my workplace. The guy at the registrar is generally cool and friendly. There's long line sometimes during the peak lunch hours but that's normal for any place. The employees sometimes could be difficult to understand due to the language barrier but overall a great Cafe for brunch and lunch.

This little place has everything you need! Hot food, cold drinks, coffee, Wi-Fi, dog friendly, indoor and outdoor seating! I ordered a bacon and cheddar breakfast sandwich and it was ahhhhhmazing! Probably the best bacon I've ever had on a breakfast sandwich ever! Then i saw this massive chocolate chip cookie - and it too was soooo good! The little market has everything you need in case you forgot something or something comes up.
This place is convenient for a quick sandwich with freshly carved turkey. I've been coming here for years. Lately, however, the quality has been significantly slipping in terms of sandwich assembly and service. It's rather disappointing.
2023 Update: as nearby cafes and breakfast places have closed down during COVID, Atrium has let its breakfasts slip. Order an egg sandwich w meat or cheese, it'll be mushy by the time you reach your office, as if the bread were steamed. Ask for the bread toasted on the side instead, get a $3 surcharge for 'not ordering a sandwich' despite all ingredients and prep time being the same. This place tries to nickel and time you at every opportunity. Walk a short distance and find something better. Picture is when a $6.00 sandwich becomes a $9 charge (same price as a breakfast platter or omelette minus any of the vegetables or sides).

There was a line and it moved fast and people kept coming. Typically a good sign and proved true for this cafe. Got a great breakfast and then some sandwiches for the rest of my crew that chose to sleep in.
