First of all don't think because you buy timed tickets it will benefit you. It won't. Secondly, I have been to some amazing museums around the world but this was disorganised, underwhelming and just not fun. Staff were the least friendly of all museums which is funny because I found it the least impressive. No photos can be taken so you can't save any memories therefore.... as soon as you leave you pretty much forget what you saw. Not as much a museum as a.... hyperbolic gallery for rooms.... and rooms... and rooms.
Very disappointing: there was a long queue at the entrance and not much to see when you finally get inside. Also in the pictures with water, it looks way better than it actually is. There are many better things to do in Madrid so, especially if you will have only a short stay in the city, skip this place.
NOT WORTH IT, even if the entrance is free.
Plan on spending the entire day in this museum. Amazing collection of artwork in every room. I would recommend checking off each room on the map as you meander through all three floors of exhibits so you don’t miss anything. Photography is not aloud inside but there are plenty of books available in the store full of brilliant color pictures with descriptions and history.
One of the biggest museums of art I saw.
Take your time if you enjoy paintings, because there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of them!
I recommend it. Its free at the last 2 hours of the day, but prepare yourself to wait.
Beautifully laid out museum with so much to see. We were surprised to stumble upon a Picasso out of nowhere. Remember: you are NOT allowed to take photos of the artwork.

Also, they were running a combo deal: 24€ for general admission and a Prado book. It was a great buy! General admission is normally 15€ and the book retailed at the gift shop for 24€ alone.
Allí doy clases de teatro. Me encanta ése centro.
I think i must have been super lucky as I walked in with no queue which was about 3pm but when I walked out the queue to get in was very long.. I took the audio guide option but they do free guided tours so perhaps research what times these are on before you go.. I think it would be more interesting to have a guide to put everything into context. Photos not allowed inside which of course is a shame but there are lots of great paintings , many of them on religious themes ..

The temple is set high up on a hill and therefore the views from here are great, especially of the Palace. There was a long queue to enter intro the temple and I understand that although it is free to get in, the visit is timed to 15 mins and they only let a certain amount of people in at the same time .. Would defiantly recommend to visit the Temple. You are not allowed to walk around the various parts however as there are Securtiy to ward you off but you can walk around it and view From all angles

Was very nice, located in a park, you can walk the grounds but only a couple of people at a time, there was a line when I went. It didn’t take too long. Was in very nice condition, area was nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful; would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

Excellent zoo in Madrid where the animals are very well taken care of. You can interact with them a little on certain areas of the park. I found it to be really entertaining! You can easily spend 6 hours there! You can get in the pool with sea lions! We did it and it was a great experience! I suggest looking for discounted tickets online before paying full price. They are normally available. Parking is excellent and as soon as you arrive the ambient music is peaceful and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting it whether you are an adult or you have children.
The museum is fantastic. We didn’t take a lot of photos inside - the ones online are much better anyway - but it’s worth the time. Tip: allow PLENTY of time if you want to see it all. We spent three hours and didn’t even see half of it. Lovely place.
What an impressive museum. If you're into knowing some stuff about some things that happened at some time; look no further. Super in depth look at the prehistoric period was my personal favourite but all the exhibitions were fantastic, and had an English option which was incredibly helpful for me. Best archaeological museum in madrid I've ever been to.
MAN is easily my favourite museum in Madrid! I'm totally impressed by their extensive antique collections. Definitely worth spending an afternoon here while visiting the Salamanca district.
No photos of art allowed here. I got to see works from Raphael and other Spanish greats. During this time, there was a burst from Picasso also on display. THOUSANDS of paintings to browse! I definitely recommend to get skip the line tickets unless you don’t mind hours of waiting outside. I got the tickets from the official website but needed to download Headout app to use. Very User friendly app. The audio guide isn’t a great experience but works.

It was a beautiful to see the structure. You need tickets to go see inside the tomb. There was slight queue. But No one is not allowed to step foot into an enclaving there. The surrounding park is well shaded with trees. Perfect for an evening stroll, sitting or walk with your pet. I enjoyed listening not a talented trumpeter perform while sitting on one of the benches
Incredible. A must Go in Madrid. Took my ticket for free at the balcony as soon as I came in. The museum os very diverse and organized. One could easily leave at least 1,5h in order to have a complete experience.
Along with El Prado, maybe the best museum in Spain! Very interesting and big and only 3 euros! I'd recommend at least 3 hours to visit it without rushing through.

Nice, even interesting, but not stunning.
You can go there, if you have time, as it is located 5 minutes from Plaza Espana and 10-15 from the Royal Palace that you would probably visit.
Its park is nice as well with a beautiful view on the landscape and the Royal Palace.

My visit to the Temple of Debod was truly captivating. Depending on the time of day, there might be a small queue to enter, but the experience is well worth any wait. The temple's beauty and historical significance left me in awe.

The ancient Egyptian architecture transported me to a different era. The intricate carvings and well-preserved structure were a testament to the craftsmanship of that time. It's incredible to think that this temple has found a new home in the heart of Madrid.

The surroundings, with the serene reflecting pool and lush greenery, added to the enchantment. It's a perfect spot to take in the breathtaking views of the city, especially during sunset.

The informative plaques around the temple provided valuable insights into its history and how it came to be in Madrid. This added depth to the experience and made me appreciate the cultural exchange that brought the temple here.

If you have an interest in history, architecture, or simply want a peaceful place to relax, the Temple of Debod is a must-visit. It's a unique gem in the heart of Madrid, offering a glimpse into both Egyptian and Spanish history.
Absolutely, totally YES to go there! Very cheap entry, very helpful and nice, interested staff at the ticket caja. Spent here 2+ hours even though I am not a total archaeology enthusiast. The building itself is noteworthy and pretty. It has, literally, oceans of items of many kinds. Some are truly unexpected and astonished. You can also get a leaflet with about 10 most-suggested artifacts to see. There are also interactive areas, and nice maps and cinema-like elements. The tiny park by the building offers a great rest and picnic place.
great and enormous art collection. one of the best museums in the world. i recommend having the tickets bought to enter without lines. the visit time is minimum 2/3 hours. important: no photos allowed inside the museum
Beautiful place of Madrid

Very nice park with amazing views over the city and the Egyptian temple.

Great for a stroll during the day or sunset. Or even at night. Free of charge.

Didnt go into the temple but it looks better from afar but the views in the park are incredible.

Some cafes close by. Also connecting to another area that is worth exploring.

Big park with many different areas, we and children like it, animals are in good conditions, comfortable zones and routes. Quite cheap parking with many parking slots (there are two ground levels, be aware).
Molto bella
Ended up being my favourite part of Madrid.

• Price - decided to go during the free visiting hours @6:30pm; @6pm huge line - but moved fast, and by 6:40 no longer a line. After visiting - would have happily paid the €15
• Quality - astounding. Many thought- & emotional-provoking pieces (Aesop fable interpretations, the six-year girl presented that Spanish court commissioned 2x paintings, the birth of the Milky Way). I missed the Mona Lisa (draft!) but saw so many other brilliant pieces.
• Timing - could have easily spent 3 hrs. Ended having to leave at 8pm (a bell was rung & we were all ushered out; a shame as I wished I could have visited the museum store)

No photos allowed - I wish I could have shared some!

Would definitely go back.
Ticket office and real entrance are different. So I recommend you buy tickets in advance. Then you don’t need to wait in the ticket queue. There are many Francisco Goya’s work. Audio guide is €5. It was super helpful. They suggested 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours and fully tour courses. I really enjoyed it.!
One more thing, y can't take pictures in there.
Good for Goats!
Not too crowded, ac, lots to see, put aside 3+hours to really enjoy it. $15/adult non resident, half.off i believe for filks over 65 and kids under (12?) are free. The Cafe was reasonably priced for a Museum and tasty. Tickets were cool, they had pictures of parts of the artwork on them. :3 The Real Botanical Gardens are free before 13h (1pm) on Tuesdays.

I loved this visit. I think I enjoyed it more than my family because I have been learning about the subjects of the paintings and sculptures. It was an amazing experience! Definitely recommend if you like history
5 floors starting in prehistory right up to modern times explaining different cultures and displaying amazingly preserved artifacts from the Iberian peninsula. The building itself is a beautiful artifact worth seeing and the price for admission was negligible. You'll be hard pressed to find a more interesting 4 or 5 hours for similar costs.
Some very nice pieces and explanations. 2nd floor was closed due to extreme heat, so not sure what is up there. Entrance is behind the National Library and only 3 euros. For that price it's hard to complain. Not the best museum in the world, but good value for the price and worth a visit if in the area.

Lots of animals, nice recreation of environments. Many pingüinos and birds. Only couple of batter flies visible. Bit smaller than Madrid zoo but still Worth visiting!
Had a wonderful time at Prado Museum. Everything is orderly, we entered on time. Recommend purchasing tickets online for seamless experience. The museum itself is extremely well-maintained. It felt great walking the tall halls and admiring art across hundreds of years. My absolute favourite piece was the Garden of Earthly Delights. Mesmerized by it.
Take the public bus service from central Madrid, it leaves you at the gates! Your was in Spanish so we just nodded along but a lovely way to spend a few hours. A walk further on to Franco’s final resting place, we didn’t bother. Lovely little village.
Archaeological museums are my favorite type of museums and I learned SO much from this one. I went by myself around 2pm on a weekday and had most of the exhibits to myself. I could certainly take my time without feeling rushed! Compared to other popular museums around Madrid that are packed and hard to move through, this was a delightful surprise. AND significantly cheaper.

I spent over 3 hours here. I was hooked on the displays and so engaged with the timelines and artifacts presented. The museum itself is organized and easy to follow.

The 3rd level was closed when I visited but I knew this ahead of time when reading reviews. They did not disclose this when I purchased my ticket though so this could be a disappointment to some.

Easy to find, kind staff, excellent museum.

You've gotta check out this awesome local park that's got a real Egyptian temple right in Spain! How cool is that? The Egyptian government gifted it to the Spanish folks, making it one unique spot. The atmosphere is totally easy-going and pleasant, and both locals and tourists love to kick back and enjoy the breathtaking sunset in this magical setting. It's a must-visit place that's bound to leave you in awe!

1. The only other museum to be able to see the Mona Lisa in public (the other one is the Louvre at Paris). Enough reasons to just pay a visit

2. It's astound the minds the number of artwork and the priceless values just within touching distance (not that I am encouraging you to touch) but the close proximity of the art

3. This museum really puts a stamp that Madrid is one of the top arts centres in Europe

4. Good place to spend a hot summer afternoon for a couple of hours (away from the general heat)

5. It's even busy on a weekday afternoon (maybe because it's a summer holiday?)

Tip
1. The cafeteria at the lower ground is much better than the small cafe on the ground floor
2. Pictures not allowed. You will be reminded nicely by the curators on this
3. Children below 18 years old get in for free. Remember to bring an ID or image of ID to proof the age.
Disappointing to witness how Spain continues to attempt to ignore great chunks of its history. The Palace was the residency of the dictator Franco and his family for 35 years. However, this was barely mentioned in the guided visit. I first visited the Palace more than 20 years ago and the tour then focused more on the daily activities of the Franco Family as well as its former role as Palace to the Spanish Royal Family in the time of the Austrias and Bourbons, and its current role as an official residence for visitors of state. The past is the past, it should never be rewritten just because it doesn't align with the ideals of any political party who happen to be in power.
The Palace has unfortunately lost a part of its past which right or wrong happened, and needs to told and remembered for what it was.
Great big museum in the heart of Madrid, perfect for anyone who seriously loves a bunch of pottery, like so much pottery you begin to never want to look at a pottery again. There are still some really interesting artefacts including mummies and Roman swords but it is very pottery heavy! Would recommend to anyone looking to escape the Madrid heat in the middle of the day, don’t bother with the Canary island exhibition though its a bit dull

Wonderful animal exhibits! The Penguin experience is amazing and definitely worth doing- friendly and very knowledgeable staff eager to answer questions about the animals.
Bonito para passear
Very large and modern museum with many sections. I enjoyed their multimedia approach, they had videos, things to touch, and tons of graphics. The upper two floors were closed for us, but I had already spent 4hrs. I like museums and I could spend 2 days here.

Of course it’s football, (soccer).
Not a Real Madrid fan, but the atmosphere was fully indulgent, nevertheless.

Like him or not, the palace has its place in recent history as the home of Spain's last dictator...that on top of the building's time as a royal household. It's only a short drive/bus ride from Madrid, but cut off by forest-covered hills it feels like a hundred miles away from the bustle of the city.

Faunia is a family zoo experience, without the larger animals you would typically find at the zoo.
For my visit there were 2 shows: seals and birds of prey, both were nice, but quite short, though there were 2 slots each.
Otherwise, there is a mix of outdoor and indoor enclosures to view, much appreciated in the late August heat!
For the outdoor animals, most were hiding in the shade (don't blame them...). For the indoor spaces, there was a 50/50 mix of whether they were visible.
I brought my own snacks, but there seemed to be plenty of places to stop and eat, though some were not open, I guess based on the number of visitors.
Definitely book in advance. A week ahead will get you tickets around 18euro instead of 25euro online on the day or 29euro at the gate.
Overall, I spent probably 5-6hrs, taking my time with photos and revisiting a couple of enclosures.

A really great day out for family visits. The routes have many indoor animal exhibits in case of rain, and lots of places to sit down and have a drink or snack. Restrooms are always within a short walk, which helps a lot with a toddler. They have a great area for bringing your own picnic with a huge play park for kids to run around and climb. There’s all kinds of animal interactions available for kids 5+, but smaller ones can enjoy the seals show. We had a really great time!

We went during the week in March and almost had the place to ourselves; there were maybe 3-4 families there in total.

One more thing: I don’t have a zoom lens,so the photos you see how they appear at eye level. The lemur was really sitting on the path and let us get close to him. (Hold onto small kids!)

Good place to be visited with children, however one can notice it's age at some places ... We went there at the opening time and we until abot 2 p.m. couldn't buy anything to drink or eat. Everything was closed and you can only count on the machines with drinks and snacks than. But you have to have coins.
Toilets so so...Animals in good condition yet not free...

Lesser known and visited palace in Madrid, it has a fabulous collection of tapestries by Goya, Valasquez, and others. Best collection of tapestries I have ever seen in one place. The rooms are also exquisitely decorated, with special chandeliers in some rooms that incorporate other decor features in the room. No photos permitted inside, but allowed in the gardens. Highly recommended.

Home of the Casa de América, this palace shows beautiful decorations but the most notable about this place it’s the legend about the child ghost of the first marquis.
Today you can visit the palace in groups guided by 4 hosts, each one with his peculiar personality will tell you a bit of the history and the legend.
I thoroughly enjoyed this visit. The palace is rich in history dating back to the 1400's. Free visits are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 17:00-20:00. Entrance is €9 on all other days. Consult the webpage for special prices for pensioners, children, large families and people with disabilities.
Great visit to Royal Palace El Pardo. Too bad you can't take photos inside it, only the yard. It was a bit shoking the fact it was also dictator Franco's residence and now it is used for foreign Heads of State on state visits to Spain.

This attractive palace with its fascinating history is a living museum and home to the Casa de America (the cultural & business centre of the Americas).

If you do not attend one of the events here, the only way to visit it is by guided tour on Saturdays & Sundays. The tour lasts around 50 minutes and is bi-lingual if there are non-Spanish speakers. Worth booking in advance.

It's an interesting insight into 19th Century Spanish aristocracy
