Exceeded my expectations! Champagne on arrival, lovely spacious rooms and a mini fridge full of snacks 😃 I don’t think I’ve stayed somewhere before where there was a coffee machine and milk frother in my room.

Breakfast was delicious! There were so many options but the cooked breakfast was indescribably good!

There only reason I didn’t give 5 stars for the room was just tiny things like a hole in my towel and our mirror was broken at the bottom. Otherwise very good place, I would come again

This is a wonderful hotel centrally located in Edinburgh. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and entire location were well kept. Breakfast was included, and was very good. Plus, there was champagne upon arrival and every morning with breakfast!

Well wonderful place inside. however the service…we ask twice for desert menu , after we got we waited another 30 min for the waiter, so we decided to leave it.
Also they limit you to the time as they very busy but the staff is very slow.. not sure why they charge service charge…
Very disappointed as if you charge high price for the food and drinks you expecting to be treated in a better way.
Sea bass 26 pounds and extremely salty chickpea the offer with a steak is good!
Large mussels is a joke 15£ for a tiny portion.
That’s what I mean for a posh and fine dining I don’t mind to pay if the whole experience is worth it.

Wonderful architectural interior and Christmas decor. Food was OK but considering the price they charged, my expectations were towards a proper cafe/restaurant (food and service) rather than a casual cafe type. I ordered artisan bread (from the nibbles section) and sea bass (from the mains section) for lunch. I did not expect to have 6 pieces of triangular bread, all toasted, on a plate served as a "starter". I could not finish all the bread, dry and tasteless, and stopped eating at some point. Then one server needed to confirm I had finished with the "starter" before they asked the kitchen to prepare the mains, while I did not see the bread as a standalone "starter". Anyway, not the usual lunch restaurant I expect with this price tag. The menu seemed to present a normal cafe supported by a proper hot kitchen, which turned out to be misleading in some ways.

It has the most beautiful interior and the food was insanely good. It is not cheap, but you wouldn't expect it from a place like this anyways.
Everything was perfect!

Absolutely stunning place to have a coffee, eat some lunch and catch up. Especially before train journey as its very close. Felt bit uncomfortable at the beginning as I only had few drinks - coffee and Pepsi but after husband joined me we got few more drinks and lunch didn't feel as uncomfortable. Had trouble catching staffs eye to get served. After getting first drink. Trying to order lunch was difficult for this reason. But food was lovely.

Went there with big group of friends (13). Food was nice and the building is lovely and stunning. However, the service was terrible. Took them very long to get our drinks order and then it took them a while to deliver them. Second round of drinks was worse, ordered a flat white and I'm sure it took them over 20 mins. Not sure if I'd go back if I'm honest. Took them a long time to deliver drinks, plates, food every time we asked for something and the place was not fully booked.

This is a fantastic hotel and we loved our 2 night stay. We had the most basic room and it was spacious, with lots of storage and 2 chairs and a little table. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect and the breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay at this hotel again! :)

Very nice venue with a terrace over city views, lovely food and friendly service. We enjoyed a Champagne brunch and everything was delicious. The background music was great!

The hotel is located very centrally just next to the Weaverley train station. Room was very cozy and comfortable. My room view was excellence. Minibar items already included in the price, which is a good surprise.

The breakfast was delicious with good selection of hot dishes from the menu. A glass of champagne is also included.

We were seated in the bar area which was fine as we didn’t book.

I ordered a Rum & Raisin cocktail (my fav so I know what to expect) what I received was a warm shot of rum in a glass that had just been rinsed with water. I had to put ice cubes from my water into the cocktail but it still was not drinkable for a £13.50 cocktail I was very disappointed . I’ll share two pictures one is of the Grand Cafe £13.50 cocktail and one is of a different restaurant at £11 I’ll let you decided which one should have been of high value. Extremely poor.

Our olives were given to another table, the waiter apologised and we watch our fellow diners gobble up our olives whilst we waited for ours to arrive.

We had to ask for more drinks, we had to ask for condiments, we had to ask for the bill, we waited with coats and hats on for the bill, I then had to stand up to draw attention that I wanted to pay the £95 bill that was not worth that price at all and pay £8.70 service charge….. what service? The restaurant was not busy.

We eat in some very nice restaurants being foodies and Grand Cafe disappointed in every way possible.

The atmosphere was the only saviour with the lovely piano and singing.

The staff were polite and friendly but at £95 for two mains, two drinks and some olives I would at least expect to be asked if I wanted any condiments with my main, any more drinks? Dessert menu? Was everything ok with the cocktail seeing as it hadn’t been touch. Nope nothing.

My family and I (8 of us) had an exceptional lunch in a private room here. Everyone loved the food so much, and the atmosphere was completely cozy and inviting. Probably the most memorable part though was Paul's hospitality and warmth. I would definitely recommend coming here!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this lovely Hotel - the rooms are comfortable, clean, quiet and trendy in a super location… 🏨
On checking out we unfortunately left our travel documents in the room safety box. However, the front desk efficiently coordinated with our hotel concierge in London, to have the documents available to be picked up, which were then safely couriered to us within 48 hours…

Have always valued the Sunday roast but on this occasion it was just OK; meat was not hot enough, gravy seemed to have meat juices in it which is always good but included too much of the fat which affected the taste and it was not as nice. As for the horseradish cream not strong enough, it was more like clotted cream for a scone; and for its price was disappointing. The service, though, was excellent and highly knowledgeable waiter plus the choice of gins and was also excellent. People around us not having the roast were raving positively about the food.

This place didn’t disappoint! We wanted a little extra for Friday night dinner on our trip to Edinburgh. We got a little extra; the place was gorgeous, classic French interior and waiters in white shirts. Staff was very welcoming and attentive, the food was sublime, and a small, but high standard wine selection. If you want to experience some classic, high standard French food in the chill and welcoming Scottish atmosphere— go to Brasserie Prince!

Food was very tasty. It’s recommended to get one mezze, one main and one side per person. My husband and I did one mezze, two mains and two sides and it was plenty of food. The lamb adana and sweet potato were our favorites. I would skip the cauliflower. The baba was very good. Service was friendly and the space was beautiful.

We stayed here 1 night at the hotel, the room is clean and modern. I loved the shampoo and conditioner they provided, water pressure in the shower was great! They allowed us to drop off luggage a few hours before check in time, and brought them to the room for us once the room was ready. Super friendly staff. There were a couple minor issues with the room, but the staff we spoke with was extremely professional and helpful. We felt completely safe walking around the area at night, there are some wonderful restaurants nearby, within walking distance to almost everything. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Went for a meal on Saturday 14 October 2023. Excellent meal and really good service from the staff. Only gripe we had was that Edinburgh in October is a very cold city and the outside door to the restaurant was left open making it quite cold when eating your meal. No heating that we could see. We were not the only two not happy with the cold atmosphere. One man said he could do with a blanket over his knees. We would certainly go back but it would have to be in warmer weather. Another door blocking out the cold would be ideal.

Excellent food and very good service with a couple of negative points.

We really liked the salmon and the mussels, as well as the endive salad and the fries. The desserts were very good too.

4 stars instead of 5 for only two reasons:
- the salmon supposedly came with truffles but there wasn't a hint of truffle taste
- a 10% tip was automatically and discreetly added to the bill - I understand it's common here, but the way it was so discreet just really bothered me, especially for us tourists who are not used to this custom

Went for a birthday meal with my family, our server was very attentive and friendly, I received a free glass of prosecco for it being my birthday. Food was really good, as well as the drinks! Overall experience was very nice!

Great location - right next to train station and old town. Good breakfast, both continental and table service. Dinner menu is very limited. Roomy bath room was truly 'roomy'! Some plumbing issues: sinks did not drain well and filled quickly. Also, the shower door was deficient and soaked the floor simply showering.

Gem in Edinburgh! Amazing mix of tradition and elegance. Relaxing and friendly environment. The food was delicious. Really a must!

Quaint little restaurant with lot’s of charm in ‘diagon Alley’ (aka Victoria St) food has lots of influence from French, Scottish, Vietnamese and North African, emphasis being on French. Quality and execution just manages to get there with great calamari dish, haggis balls and a very tasty bouillabaisse- fish of the day accompaniments was below par. Service was fast and cheerful. An above the average quality for a picpoul and other tempting wine offerings. Recommended

A great city centre located hotel with helpful friendly staff. We didn't have dinner as we had booked elsewhere. Good rooms with everything you need. No lift if climbing stairs is an issue....

Did have Breakfast which was first class.

Let me start with the positives,

1. Atmosphere (4/5)

Their interior design is gorgeous—I absolutely love their upholstered couches/seats, those were my favorite part. I also love the high-ceiling, mezzanine design and the marble columns, that always makes a room feels grand a spacious. The wood paneling and lights are also beautiful.

1.2 Tableware (3/5)
Thats’s where I have to subtract a star from the atmosphere. For a supposedly fancy place, their tea set was disappointing. The tea cup was an €8 illy cup with its red square logo on it (aren’t they a coffee company?). And the wrong filter was used for the teapot, so that the lid wasn’t properly closed. And the teapot was absolutely sizzling all over when it came up, including the handle, I almost burned myself (wish the waiter could have warned me.) And instead of a proper cloth napkin, we only got a paper napkin (which i used to help me pour my tea.)

Also, their glass cup looked cloudy (I’m sure it was just old with stains and not dirty—still, one would expect better from a place that looks like this. See the picture attached.)

The faucet at the bathroom was also unfortunately one of those that tries to boil you alive and whose temperature can’t be changed. I do appreciate the proper hand towels though.

1.3 Music I hope the soundtrack could have been more “posh”, to match the decor, or at least better than what they played.

Friendly. And my food and tea came very quick. They did kind of seem to forget about me after the beginning though. I’m waiting for someone to come by so I can ask for my bill as I’m writing this. (Update: I guess they thought I already paid a deposit when I booked my afternoon tea. However, I actually just walked in. Maybe that’s why no one came to give me my bill.)

(Incidentally, while this is not very food-critic of me, their male staff members were all so hot for no reason.)

The €32.95* we paid we more for the ambiance, I suppose. It was pretty standard afternoon tea stuff: finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet and savory stuff. I did, however, very much enjoyed their mushroom tart (at least that’s what I think it was.) The sweet treats were not bad but not remarkable as well. The scones weren’t obviously warm/freshly baked when they came out. While they did rise nicely and is crunchy/crumbly on the outside, the inside felt a little too dense.

*for some reason, I thought the afternoon tea was €60 while I was waiting for my bill, which made my review a little more critical. Turned out it was half the price, which makes it all very reasonable. It’s not a bad deal to enjoy a fancy environment like this with a this price tag.

An absolutely delightful little eatery. Went in during the rain to catch up with a friend from abroad. The resteraunt was cosy and well kept. The staff were so kind and friendly, and the food was delicious. Portion sizes were great for the price and the wine selection was fantastic.

Lovely hotel and staff. Good food and drink especially with the 5pm deal. Only reason not 5 star was the absence of a lift - lot of stairs, especially as we were on the top floor (wife has had a hip replacement!). Just 10 rooms so need to book as soon as you can. Close to bars with live music.

The food was good, but terrible service. Seemed like the waitress was preoccupied with some personal/workplace issues. Though we agreed to dine in the waiting area, she didn't take us to the regular dining area even when the tables became available, and instead gave it to people who came in after us. Many of the items on the menu were not available.

I am only reviewing breakfast offerings. Overall, a good selection of breakfast items. It has a hot section with sausages, baked beans, eggs, and many of the standard British breakfast offerings. It also has a cold section with breads, cereal, bakery, and juices. I also took a look at the dinner menu and it looked good as well. Maybe next time.

A little cramped. Tables for 4 were small. Lobster and scallops were good. Portions are not large but that's OK. Service good and prices reasonable to slightly high.

Our brunch stop at Rabble was a wonderful experience. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the menu offered a great variety of choices. The atmosphere was nice and casual, making it a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing meal. We'll definitely be returning!

Was there on a Wednesday night for my father's birthday so a small family meal it was! Ambiance was relaxed, service speed and efficiency was as best as it could be with 3 staff serving what was 4 tables including ours to about 15 tables in 30mins after oir arrival!

Approachable staff that was attentive but not over the top.

Food was all very good. I've not been much of a seafood fan but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can see Cadiz being a very busy place as there was a back section with what seemed like 40 other small tables...come on the quiter days and you'll have a fabulous time!

Great cocktails! I tried the mojito and daiquiri and they were delicious. I went on a weekend and it was busy so I recommend booking in advance. The atmosphere was lively with good music and good service. The dinner was not the best but the large potions make it a decent purchase if you need a bite.

It is the most fantastic restaurant in Edinburgh.
From the moment you arrive,you are greeted with lovely friendly staff. The waiter/waitress runs through the menu and makes suggestions, and offers advice on ordering dishes. They do say not to order more than three each,which you'd think was crazy, but it's so true! The flavours, the textures, and the visual display of the food will blow your mind.

This could have been a good experience. Good location, nice decor, food was good. Service was dreadful. A £45 of Chablis came barely chilled. The wait for drinks and water was very long, they were not organised on glasses, ice nor drinks stocked in the fridge for service. I suspect they survive on tourists coming once and never again. Really disappointing experience

Quality-price SUPER. They are super quick. The food is really good Italian. The waiter was wonderful. Its perfect to enjoy a nice dinner looking to the the Edinburgh buildings with all the lights.

This was our first stay at Market Street, and it surpassed expectations. I thought it was excellent value for money, and would have no hesitation in recommending.

- Nice design throughout, including the bedroom.
- Welcome touches such as a small glass of champagne on arrival, free snacks in the room and free minibar.
- Extremely comfortable beds.
- Outstanding breakfast.
We asked for a room at the back of the hotel, to avoid any noise from the main road and station. We therefore had no view to speak of, but complete peace and quiet, which is what we were after! I can't comment on how noisy the other rooms are (or are not).

We came here for lunch and I chose off the set menu. All three courses I had were delicious. The prawns could of had a little more flavour but the haddock was incredible with a very light and crispy batter. The cheesecake was delicious and felt very light to eat despite it being quite substantial. The services was great and would definitely recommended to anyone looking for good seafood in Edinburgh.

Absolutely loved this hotel from the rooftop check-in with complementary champagne to the included mini fridge bar and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the room layout and views. The location to the city is perfect for walking anywhere you want to get to. I will be back, this hotel is worth the stay.

The seafood here was amazing and matched with a great glass of wine. The place is cozy, so make reservations. The service experience was great with attention to all its guests with detailed information on food and suggestions on matching wine.

Great location for town centre accessible by bus.Great service,nothing too much trouble. Breakfast great with excellent choice from buffet. However found it surprising that such a large hotel/chain can run out of vegetarian sausages and pastries. Found bathroom particularly small in our twin room.

Absolute pleasure dining here. Great service, delicious food. I felt so calm and relaxed. Paul and other servers were lovely. The cod, oysters, and apple tarte were my favorites.

We had dinner at The Grain Store in August 2023, it was absolutely incredible! The owner, Paul, was very friendly and took care of us all night. The food was excellent from starters to mains to desserts. Service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere and location can't be topped. We will definitely return, and 100% recommend to others.

Great fun, buzzing atmosphere, excellent service, wonderful fish dishes. Superb wines. Highly recommend. 👍😁

Despite the server being a bit indifferent, our seafood platter was absolutely fabulous. Calamari fork tender, shrimps, prawns and scallops cooked perfectly. The huge pot of mussels was in a beautiful creamy broth with just the right amount of crusty bread. The waiter said they get fresh mussels delivered direct from the sea every morning. I believe it! Because the outdoor tables are on the sidewalk of hill, beware of all the sauces running downhill into your lap!

The food and service are 5 stars! The best brasserie in Edinburgh. Thanks John and Calder.

Dinner was Amazing! Love the space, love that you can’t find it! Oysters w mignonette, artisan bread a shot of gazpacho Hake and Mussels in a dreamy sauce. Just wonderful.

Beautifully decorated restaurant with tasty food. It’s not the usual sort of food I eat but it was good to try new things. That’s why the 4 for food. I know a lot of people who love it!

The service was very quick and we were well attended to.

There were a lot of things on the menu I had never heard of before so it might be helpful to have a little dictionary down the side 😂

This place is smaller in size, but absolutely worth it! They're known for their seafood and they delivered on it! I have sea bass gnocchi and it was chefs kiss delicious! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone at our table enjoyed everything that was brought out. Highly recommend!

The portions are quite mega which is great if you’re heading there after a healthy gym session! The food lacks a bit of finesse but priced ok and I really appreciate how open they were to substitutions on the Scottish breakfast. Rolls were so huge you could use them as a pillow. Brilliant decor and diner theme. Recommend a visit!

The BEST food I have had in such a long time.
Booked this place on a whim after searching restaurants for a while & fancying something different.
My boyfriend has a nut allergy & they asked about dietary requirements straight away- they brought over an allergy menu & can a just certain dishes to remove any nuts, amazing service!!
We had 7 dishes between two of us: two grills, then the rest sides/snacks/mezze and it was the perfect amount.
We also ordered extra pitta to soak up all the sauces as it was that good.
Cocktails are amazing too, highly recommend.
Staff were sooo attentive and lovely, would absolutely return here every time I visit Edinburgh!

Love this restaurant/hotel. Staff are excellent ,so friendly and helpful. We stayed overnight. Room was nice. Good coffee machine and Smeg fridge. Room was very clean...fan in place as was hot.
Only downside to this lovely central hotel was noise when Council emptying bins at 5.15am went on for ages. This is outwith the hotel's control sadly.
I would definitely return to this lovely place but not necessarily to stay over.

Went for a breakfast on a Friday, I have only been for drinks in the evening so didn't know what to expect.

First of all they offer a gluten free full breakfast (not for me) which was a big plus.

It wasn't very busy, clean and has the diner vibe you'd expect.

Service was fast, didn't want too long for the food.

Portion size was great, the gluten free option didn't come with black pudding/haggis and just came with two extra hash browns instead.

The only downside with the food was the sausages, both sausages had inedible bits of what seemed like bone.

Both ordered a flat white which was surprisingly nice but don't expect black medicine coffee quality.

Surprisingly pricey however coming in at ~£36 for two breakfasts and two coffees. Quality and environment was there but I probably wouldn't go again due to price.

I had the cod and blackened sweet potato. Great flavours. Really nice. Just wasn't enough. Others with me ordered shoulder of lamb. Looked nice. Didn't look like a shoulder of lamb though. Looked like some meat from a shoulder of lamb just not the full shoulder. Again tasted great but wasn't enough. I think the idea is to order your main and a selection of sides. I think if I go again I'll order more. Make no mistake though the food tasted amazing

I had an amazing experience at The City Cafe in Edinburgh. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great meal in Edinburgh!

We did go here for some Breakfast and after that we came back for lunch. Both of the times it was a very good experience, the staff is very friendly and the quality of food is Good! Portions are big, so take in mind that if you just want a snack take a look at the small snack part at the menu.

The restaurant is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The pea soup was delicious and the bacon butter was sublime. I tasted my companion's pork ribs, which were very tender. There was too much BBQ sauce for me and it was a little too sweet for my taste, but the person who actually ordered it loved them. My risotto tasted lovely and left me wanting more. Let's say it left room for a dessert, as well as my starter. The food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen, but the waiting staff were really friendly and helpful.

Came with a group so we didn't pick our own rooms. Our room was ok, beds were comfortable and the room was pretty clean. Housekeeping left our window open one day which was a little disturbing. The food was alright. Dinner was generally better than breakfast in my opinion. The location is very convenient for the bus though since it's right next to the zoo.

Lebanese or Middle East cuisine place at the end of George street, BABA welcomes guests to try its photogenic dishes. There is a starter, mezze dishes but I only tried their grilling dishes
Lamb Adana is like a sausage style with enjoyable spiciness but the scent of lamb is pretty strong for me, the cod & charcoal grilled celeriac is alright but all the dishes can be little mushy. I prefer more complex textures in this dish.

The most recommended dish is a Duke of Berkshire pork neck. The pork is very tender and juicy with pesto-like sauce and the sweetness from pineapple. This is a wow for me.

The decoration is stylish and the staffs are very friendly with service minds.

Recommended to visit if you are strolling around George street or princes street.

Both the server and the manager provided amazing customer service, and prepared customised cocktails for the party based on our individual preferences!

I was very hesitant to leave for my train and wanted to stay for another few more drinks so I booked in for another time!

Great staff, lovely decor, and perfect atmosphere / sound level to talk in a large group 😁 had a delicious assortment of espresso martinis in different flavours. Very accommodating and friendly staff and delicious drinks! Thank you for a lovely night

Pros:
Good location for the zoo and public transport to the city. Restaurant recently refitted, clean, and the food was adequate and reasonably priced. Breakfast selection is very good. Staff all friendly and helpful. Basic cleanliness in the room was ok - clean bedding, clean towels, toilet and sink clean also. The view of the hills from the room was stunning.

Cons:
Corridors need redecorating and some carpets were stained.
Rooms cleanliness was lacking attention to detail as was some of the general maintenance. We had to move room as the first had no working air con, shower wasn’t working properly, black mould in shower area, broken bed legs. The team were very helpful and understanding and moved us to another room without issue.

Second room was better but unfortunately still had some issues. We decided not to report this to the staff as we had no desire to move rooms again. Air con was working but the vents were dusty, carpets had stains and hair, walls scuffed/marked, dirty water in kettle, mould in bathroom around bath/shower area, toilet flush broken, headboard dirty, windows dirty inside and out, furniture tired and marked, tv not much use as it’s locked down the a hotel interface and only 10 channels worked. No plug sockets next to bed and limited sockets in the room, shower didn’t keep consistent temp (although it was an improvement on the first room).
Restaurant, whilst nice and modern and clean, lacks atmosphere and is huge open plan making it very noisy.

Back stairs exit to main road smells damp, some stained carpets, dirty windows

Further Update:
The General Manager has been in contact with me and has shared that the rooms will start a refurbishment program this coming October (2023). They also stated they plan to deal with the cleanliness and general repairs we reported. With that, I've increased my scoring for service as the GM has reassured me that our complaint has been taken seriously and a partial refund has been offered.

Great service, atmosphere and a knowledgeable sommelier who had tons of patience to help us choose the wine. The burrata dish was below average. The muscles - in a classic sauce - were delicious.

Food was delicious, and chocolate mousse was not great. Bread was fantastic. Interesting ideas with the rib steak - showcasing two different cuts on one dish.

Perfect! Great flavours, lovely staff, fair prices. This was highly recommended to us by our hotel and it did not disappoint. The lamb shoulder were very tender. The chicken wings are the right amount of spicy and the bread and humus is a big hit!

One of the best seafood meal we have had so far in Edinburgh. We ordered the seafood platter, as recommended by the manager, together with half a dozen of oysters, and we enjoyed everything there.

A whole lobster, two grilled king prawns, a couple of mussel pots with different sauces and two pieces of scallops were included in the seafood platter. They were all fresh and tasty. The lobster was pleasantly firm in texture and well-grilled with garlic butter; both of the mussel pots were great, flavourful sauces which didn’t overshadow the freshness of mussels themselves.

The oysters came before the platter and they were of good quality as well, smelled fresh, subtly briny, smooth and soft in texture. Loved the desserts and I recommend the Seville pudding which was complimented by a nice orange marmalade and vanilla custard. Great sherry we had with the desserts, and the staff was so kind to, apart from the one we ordered, offer a sample of the other two on the menu for us to taste.

A really enjoyable meal and all the staff were really friendly.

Called in for my birthday lunch with my wife. I had a steak and sweet and my wife had the 2 course lunch menu. Fabulous food, in fact one of the best meals we’ve had for a long long time. Really nice staff who took time to chat and brought me out a macaroon with a candle in it which I thought a lovely touch. More expensive than our usual price bracket but for a special occasion I’d recommend it.

Fantastic! We stayed around the corner and went out exploring. Seeing this menu from the street, it looked amazing. We waited a little bit before we got a table, having a drink while waiting. Once we got seated, we were treated to an amazing dinner! The Ox cheeks were out of this world! Great wine selections and fantastic apps. The atmosphere was excellent, and the artwork, lighting, and music were pleasant. Thank you for a fantastic meal and for providing a great experience!

Pleasant evening. Several things not on the menu on a Wednesday night. Tables were free at 8.30 and no walk ins were turned away- NONE. Having said that, the food was cooked to a decent standard and service was included at 10%. When the cheese board ran out of oat cakes, they were replenished and in good spirit. So I would definitely return.

Alway get a craving for great quality seafood and this place did not disappoint. I had half dozen oysters followed by lobster Thermidor and my friend had scallops and mussels polished off with a lovely glass of Sauvignon. Everything prepared to perfection. Very good value for money

Our first night in Edinburgh and our hotel suggested here. Short walk they were able to fit us in. The meal was delicious. Our server was very attentive and nothing but a blur.

A delightful stay at Holiday Inn Edinburgh. Member staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the double bed was comfy. Very happy to see a bathtub in the washroom and Starbucks coffee was served at the hotel’s restaurant. Breakfast buffet was great too. Highly recommended!

Wir haben uns von der ersten Sekunde an sehr willkommen gefühlt. Dazu schafft es die Atmosphäre im Restaurant, dass man unglaublich schnell runter fahren kann und den Trubel auf den Straßen vergisst.

Alle drei Gänge waren exzellent und während unseres Besuchs gab es immer wieder kurze nette Gespräche mit den Mitarbeitern des Restaurants.

I don’t really like afternoon tea so thought we would try out the new, champagne lunch.
Two options, a glass of champagne or a half bottle. First served a fruit, pastry and granola platter, then a choice of main. I had eggs florentine which were the best I’ve had.
We went for the one glass of champagne option which was £25 per head for the champagne, platter and main. Excellent value will for what you got, will definitely go back. Staff very attentive, friendly and warm.

Lovely location just outside the city centre.
Bus stop just outside the hotel so easy to travel in and out city.
We chose this hotel as was by the zoo and it is literally next door to the zoo so amazing if your wanting to visit.

The hotel was clean and the rooms are of good size,the beds are a little hard but comfy.
We had breakfast and it was so lovely with lots of options to choose from.
Also had dinner and it was lovely too!

If we come back to Edinburgh we would stay here again and bring swimwear to use the other facilities.

Great diner serving good food. Service was great as well. We enjoyed the Veggie Full Scottish Breakfast including the Veggie Haggis 😋

Nicely located at Hunter Square just at a stone's throw from Royal Mile.

Two stars is for the service, sadly to say food is terrible here. I’m very disappointed! Lobster is small and not fresh, haddock is fishy as well. We ordered medium cooked rib eye steak, but what we got is very well done and dry steak. It definitely not worth this price. Not recommended I’m afraid.

I had an excellent dinner at Maison Bleue tonight. Not only great food and very friendly service, but they inprovised admirably when I wanted a “whisky flight” instead of a dessert, something they normally don’t do. And last but not least: the woman recommended another establishment nearby that would be better at that than they are. I think that is a sign of honest business.

Restaurant in a historic place with authentic atmosphere.

The food is fresh, tasty and in good portions. The lunch have a good choice of food plates but not excessive. Proof of quality.

The service is really great, the waiters are there for you and give good advices.

Really a must do if you want some scottish quality food experience.

And a good place to accommodate groups.

Lovely Sunday lunch with good selection of food from the various self-service buffet stations. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Food was good quality with plentiful options for each course. A bit of a queue to get in, although this appeared to be down to a private event in one of the other conference rooms which seemed to delay opening.

Just a quiet beverage in between shopping .

All I can say is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
from arrival, the staff were very polite and welcoming. Showed us to our table and had water straight away . The menu is very classy,with a good range of dishes to suit. Not over comicated either.
The cocktails are delicious, and the food was out of this world.
Quite a laid back restaurant, but the feel and surroundings are classic and regal. You really do want to dress up for a meal here. It's quite special.

We were here after being given a meal for two gift experience for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Although the restaurant was quiet, the atmosphere felt great and the music was perfect, making the restaurant somewhere we would certainly return to.

Portion sizes were very generous and almost too much, which is always a pleasant surprise at a restaurant of this stature.

We opted for the white wine included in the experience, and although it was the cheapest on the menu, we would happily drink it again.

The service from all the waiting staff was brilliant and there was never a moment when we were uncomfortably waiting for anything.

I usually love city cafe but last night I was really disappointed with the service. Food was smashing as always couldn't fault it! But none of the staff checked back and because we were in a corner the 2 times we needed drinks over and above what we initially ordered we had to go up and ask. The table next to the door had to do the same and weren't impressed either. Other than that it was grand.

On Easter Monday, I am having 4 course lunch in here. It was so nice. All staffs were also very good.

I wrote the comments very late. On 10th May, I was invited by my wife for my birthday dinner in this restaurant. All staffs were very kind. Here was very comfortable restaurant. Ordered meals were also very good. At last, they prepared the complimentary happy birthday plate for me. It was so nice. Looking forward to visiting again our wedding anniversary! Thank you!

The restaurant is very good. I had a Sunday lunch and there was a String quartet Viper Swing. The food is on buffet, but so delicious and good variety of choices. The stafs is so good like invisible, but everwhere you need them with a smile. If you want to feel different for your Sunday lunch, come here, pleasure will be all yours.

Great place for a relaxed drink and a light meal.
The decor of the place and modern and well lit compared to many hotel bars, and the staff is superb, very observant and professional!
For food we had the vagan mezze board and the smoked salmon. The food was very good and really tasty.
Overall a good choice.

Both the buffet and a'la carte breakfast dishes were alrighty, not spectacular, but perfectly adequate; what wasn't great is the the waiting staff - regardless of whether this was an early visit on a weekday whilst only two or three tables were occupied by patrons, or when the place was buzzing with guests over the weekend - you could count on them remaining uninterested and plain incompetent.

Returned again for the first time in a few years. Lovely food and wine. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant tasting menu made from Scottish produce and accompanied with a matched Scottish drinks package. Food was well presented and full of flavour. Lovely friendly knowledgeable staff. I would strongly recommend and definitely will go back.
