A great dog park with trees and hills. Be aware that it is not enclosed and there is access to the street, so if your dog has poor recall, this might not be a good park for you.

At Hermitage Dog Park, where the seasons turn bright,
Colors abound in the soft morning light.
The trees and the flowers, they dazzle and sway,
While dogs chase the ducks in a reckless display.
It’s a beautiful scene, the air fresh and clean,
But not all the owners are part of the dream.
One-quarter don’t care, just chatting away,
While their dogs run wild, causing some dismay.
Yet still, it’s a gem, this park by the creek,
Where beauty and chaos meet every week.
Dogs, ducks, and nature, a charming array,
Despite those few owners, it’s a great place to stay.

Lots of garbage around (many transients). And the gate was broken so my dog almost ran off. It's meh.

The trail is lined with lush green trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
That day, there were some people riding mountain bikes or walking their dogs, and the dogs were very friendly.
We even came across a woodpecker along the trail. It was the first time I had seen one in person, not just on the internet or in books.
However, there are steep slopes and some muddy areas, so people should be careful.

Many good people and cutest dogs ever visit this doggie park. Highly recommend

It's a good park for Dogs to play as there are plenty of potential play buddies and good equipment for performance training. Not so much of a spot for long walks.

Beware! Our dog was attacked by an aggressive Pitbull and received extensive injuries the owner did nothing and since have found out the same dog has attacked others. This dog is a regular to the park. Please be aware of the white pittbull with grey spots

Beautiful park. Lots of dogs and owners waking and running around. If you're not comfortable with all sizes of dogs please do not visit. We had a large dog jump out and rush at us randomly from behind some bushes. It scared me and my kids a lot, but was not harmful. It was a dog having fun. It was still startling for us. So you need to be super comfortable understanding dog and dog owner behavior and allowing for surprises to happen. We stopped at a picnic table off the main trail to eat lunch and had a few dogs come up and surround us for a food handout. Again, not aggressive behaviour but when it's dogs you aren't familiar with you need to feel confident in how to behave and react. Fun place to visit and walk on a nice day. Makes you feel like you're not in the city anymore. It's a nice break.

I like that there’s the fenced in section for small dogs for my little guy. He has small dog syndrome and will get himself hurt by challenging the bigger dogs.

Nice park

My favorite dog park in the city.

Nice hills and trees to roam. Just wish it was fenced off to the roads.

I went there with my dog the first time yesterday. Yes it's right beside the road, there is grass on the right side (the off-leash area), and the left side you can park for 2 hours (nice houses). You can walk a bit forward and find the stairs (Hawrelak rail), which has amazingly many off-leash trails but no map. After going down the 177 stairs (I counted, may have error), if you go straight ahead you can reach the river. Then you can go left for many more water entry point for your dog. The other side of the river (the boat launch) has more dogs but this side not so much. Also good for biking. I think there are more entries to the trail other than the staircase, but I'll find out next time. The stairs are great exercise to strengthen my dog's hindleg as do mine.

Awesome park. Tons of different areas to walk in. Trees, field and open paths along the river. Big enough to spend an hour or two just walking. My dogs love it.

Nice fenced-in area. Not like the bigger parks but has a few things for the dogs to learn on.

I like the park but it is small and depending on what time of day you go your experience can vary. I like looking lunch time. A lot of the residents nearby come home to walk their dogs. Very friendly and safe then.

I really enjoy this dog park. It feels like you aren’t even in the city. However today July 3, there were 2 lingering coyotes on the path, right along the exit/entrance with the big rocks. We noticed them on our way back to the car and my dogs chased them away into the trees. By the time we got to the car, the coyotes were back at the rocks again. They are preying in the area. Stay safe.

Grand Trunk Park, where open spaces and convenient proximity to the Leisure Centre create a delightful recreational experience. This park boasts expansive fields perfect for soccer, football, and two baseball diamonds, ensuring that sports enthusiasts have plenty of room to play. While there may be some ongoing construction in the vicinity, fear not, as you can easily find parking options near the leisure centre or the adjacent (fenced) dog park. For those who enjoy the company of furry friends, the picturesque scenery of the dog park provides an excellent backdrop for leisurely strolls with your canine companions.
Note of Caution: Homeless Campers
While Grand Trunk Park offers a wonderful recreational experience, it's important to be aware of the presence of homeless individuals camping in the vicinity. As with any public space, it's advisable to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings. If you encounter someone who may be in need of assistance, it's always good to approach the situation with empathy and compassion, but remember to prioritize your safety and the well-being of those around you while enjoying the park.
It's also important to note that there are two distinct parks within the Grand Trunk area. Many previous reviews may refer to the Grand Trunk Dog Park, located just across the road. If you're searching for a wide open space specifically designed for our four-legged friends, this is the place to be. The dog park features a securely fenced area that allows dogs to roam freely, with a separate, enclosed section for smaller pups. Picnic tables are available for visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings, although it's worth mentioning that there may be an abundance of dog waste in the area. To help maintain cleanliness, several bag dispensers and garbage cans are conveniently placed throughout the park. Don't forget to bring water for your furry companions, as well as yourself, as the park offers some shade to escape the sun's rays. Remember, if you find yourself within the confines of a fence, you're in the right spot.
Whether you're seeking an active sports experience or a tranquil outing with your dogs, Grand Trunk Park provides the ideal setting for both. Enjoy the open fields, take advantage of the amenities, and revel in the beauty of this diverse recreational haven.

Amazing space to play with dogs

The trail is lovely to walk around, but the dog park is horrible. There is just pebbles (too hot in the sun) and no wood chips for the dogs to run on. As well there is no trees in the park and it is all sun (no shade). There is no water for the dogs to drink from. There is no large rocks the dogs can run around or jump over. Plus the rocks can be used seating for the owners as well. This place is not inviting at all. I hope this park can get a revamped soon.

Pretty nice park, resurfaced paths are less bumpy and there's kind of an inner loop made of gravel around the lake.
The two wooden platforms are good to take a rest and enjoy the waterfowl.

This place is amazing it has all of the aspect of nature any one is looking for!! And the off leash area is amazing!!!

(May 3/24) Came here with my e-scooter & must say the south side of this ravine is amazingly beautiful. Got to take some beautiful pictures, got to explore other great trails as well as see some people walking their dogs. Can’t wait to go back there again

I bring my dog here a few times a week and he absolutely loves it. The people who come here are friendly and so far everyone I've come across has had well behaved and friendly dogs. It's fenced in which is really great. There is also a separate fenced in area for people to work on recall or other training with their dogs without the worry of them taking off. There are water dishes around the park that get filled up for the pups. Also some benches and picnic tables.

Other dogs are very friendly, basically an off leash park as one arrives, hilly and lots of squirrels with giant old trees

Not very long but it's totally caged in and that just let's the dogs run wild wich is a good way to get them tired

Great long space for pups to run and decently lite for later in evening or winter. There are intro gates at severely entry points and a few garbages. Parking is not really great as I couldn't locate any real designated parking but there is a long alley way and businesses on other side to park at. Very low traffic when we went

Big Doggie Park. Lots of room, would be better if they had a few more trees and add obstacle courses on both sides for the dogs. I would then give it five stars!

The happiest place in all of Winnipeg! Saw this one retriever today, who managed to find not one, but two big sticks! Talk about an overachiever!

I must have taken my dog 5 days a week for the last 13 years so far. I mix it up with Warden Woods or Ashbridges Bay. We don't go in the dog areas; he's not that kind of dog.
Taylor Creek is our staple and he lives for it.

The place is good enough for a 15-20mins stop. To stretch out

Awesome place little disappointed in dog owners for not cleaning up their dogs business, I had one of the largest if not the largest dog there 2 days in a row and had no issue cleaning after my dog! Should have surveillance and charge people $200 for their lack of respect for the rest of us! Us the fine $$ to help support the city's dog pound!

Awesome 👌 great time with family and friends, and of course our lovely Milo

Nice community park with large off-leash area for dogs. Off-leash area is open, and fenced only on one side (by the train tracks). Plenty of mature trees in the park for shelter from the sun on hot days.
Love bringing my dog here for playing fetch!
Love bringing my dog here for playing fetch!

Best small dog park I have been to. The park is huge and fenced. Lots of dogs come here which is perfect for my puppy to socialize and play with other dogs.

Fantastic walking trails available for off-leash walking with your dog. Off from the main paved trail are numerous dirt paths that lead to the river for your dog to splash in.

An absolute puppy paradise. Beautiful off-leash park for dogs (and their people) to have a fun adventure. I started coming here this summer and I just love the mix of scenery: huge open fields, a forest with tons of little trails to explore, and of course the Red River, which borders much of the park. Almost all people and dogs I have met have been really nice and overall the park is really clean. I find the amount of fencing is perfectly adequate to contain my dog who does not stray that far from me. (For those with dogs who wander, just note that there are some minor gaps where your dog could get out of the park if they really wanted to.) There is also a very big puppy play pen, but it's tucked in the middle of the forest, not by the entrance. Some of the forest trails get a bit mucky after rain, so I'd recommend boots. Also not a bad idea to bring a towel in the summer in case your dog runs down to the river.

This place is best for cycling but not for a picnic for a long time. There is no washroom nearby. It's a long walk if you wanna go. Either way, it's all around green natural beauty trail.

Great mountain biking trails

Hermitage is a great place to be, if you want to go for a walk or just go hang out. There are 4 different ponds, you can walk around, just come find your favorite. There's plenty of bar-b-q areas and places to sit... including restrooms! It's well worth getting away from the daily grind! By the way there is also a huge off leash area, that could use a few benchs, but the dogs are happy 😊 either way! Enjoy!

I go here on a daily basis with my best friend. She has the freedom to run around and many friends to play with depending on the time we go. The morning sunrises are beautiful with a light mist over the field. The field is well cared for and always groomed with water and waste baskets in three locations. Hope to see you there!

One of the last fenced dog parks in the city. A former golf course, this dog park is a good option when it's not too cold and windy. On windy days during the winter this place is unpleasant. Lots of parking at the Safeway across the street. No facilities of any kind beyond garbage cans and a couple of old picnic tables.

Best place to feel nature. spent time with family, friends or alone in nature.
There is one duck pond as well where you can feed birds.
There is one duck pond as well where you can feed birds.

A spacious dog park with a water fountain for humans and dogs. However, it is not fenced in. If your dog/puppy is easily distracted, beware that there can be lots of people using the park and that there's a GO train track nearby.

Lots of friendly dogs , beautiful trails. Maintenance is awesome. Enjoy it every time I’m here.

Maple Grove Park - Large Park just off the south Perimeter Highway adjacent to the Red River. Several amenities including a decent size off-leash dog park, football fields, boat launch, frisbee and rugby fields. Fairly clean, tidy, and easy to get to by vehicle. Parking can be limited on weekends due to football games and high volume of users at the dog park. Recommend visit.

Super Park zum spatzieren gehen, nicht so zugewachsen wie es auf den Bildern scheint.

Great location. I ride my bike through here, and I'm less than 10 minutes from the river valley.

This is one of the nicer off leash parks in the area. Its newer and has some trees and rocks with open space to play and walk around. However like many other dog parks around the area it is'nt fully fenced. The side along the pathway is but the side leading out to the buisnesses and roads is not. There also are'nt any gates leading in or out.

Small-ish dog park with just one enclosure, so be watchful of the pups as there isn't a whole lot of space for dogs to seclude themselves. No water fountain is available in the park so be prepared to bring water if needed. Plenty of parking is available curbside or across the street.

Great dog park

This is a nice walk in the middle of the city. The off leash area is not fully fenced, not a problem for most just something to be aware of. There are trees around the border and enough room for them to play fetch or play with other dogs. The other side is backed onto an alley with houses, so not alot of traffic but some.

great space for the dog babies to run around off leash. there's a dog water fountain and plenty of shade

Great place for a solo walk, even better with a dog. All the dogs I saw here seemed really happy.

First dog park my puppy has ever been to and we loved it. The dogs we met were so nice! I wish they would fix one of the gates though.

Lots of space for dogs to run around and play, good behaviour is a must but all dogs we encountered were very pleasant. Great dog park! 👍

This is one of the most popular, clean, and spacious dog park in Winnipeg. They recently built a gate at the front entrance to make it even better for those puppies who like to run away. If you like to go to dog parks where you want to see other dogs - this is the one to go to. If you want to see less dogs I would recommend Kilcona park which is about the same size but with the layout of the park you are less likely to run into herd of dogs.

It's a wonderful local trail for a short walk or a longer loop through East York. Also great tobogganing nearby

Lovely space for dogs and kids. Fenced play park with climbing frames, slides, sand pit and swings for the little ones (tends to be 3-5 year olds) and massive space for dogs with peaks and valleys for them to run up and down. Lots of trees including one with a resident raccoon.

Wonderful park, easily the best on the area. Big rolling hills, thick grass and huge trees. If you have a dog that loves to run they will get a huge kick out of the hills, as opposed to the usual flat, woodchip wasteland that most dog parks in Toronto are. No real fences, so /please/ properly recall train before letting your dog off leash. Kids and teens have an unfortunate tendency to barrel through the dog park on bicycles, so be careful and keep your eyes out for potential accidents and reactivity moments.

I and the dogs really enjoyed the trails through Mill Ck ravine. Lots of areas for the dogs to get in the creek. The bridges are great along the trail. There were plenty of garbage cans so no excuses for not picking up after your dog. Some well placed benches allow for breaks if needed. The shade provided by the trees was very nice as the day started to heat up! Lots of access points and different size loops so you can walk as little or as long as you want. Be mindful of other users and only have your dogs off leash in designated areas. I love this area. Well done YEG!!

Wow ! What a treat it was to be immersed in nature right in the middle of an Edmonton neighbourhood ! This is a fantastic off leash area with some challenging terrain for a senior dog and her senior owner, too !

The trail here is really nice! But don’t come here for the dog park. It’s small. There’s no shade. There’s no water dispenser for the dogs. It’s concrete and rocks. There are so many other better dog parks (fenced photo is dog park - other photos is the trail which is the only reason to come here)

Always great owners at the park.
Safe, secure, and well kept!
Safe, secure, and well kept!

Great off leash area for dog 🐕 owners. I have been to a few of the off leash areas around Edmonton and this the best. Lots of open spaces and trails. Lots of dog owners live in Clareview just to have access to the off leash areas close by. If you’ve got a dog this is the place to let it loose. There is access to washroom facilities close by at Heritage Park.

Not a park. Small area right off a busy road. No proper parking. Wouldn't recommend

We could not open or close the gate to this park but it is usually a great spot with a small dog area and a separate larger dog area.

Great area and very nice dog park. Quiet and great views as I was passing by coming up out of Taylor Park and Creek

Great place for your dogs to run around. Walk ways and gates appear to be well maintained. Friendly group of regulars.

My dogs love this place so much . Wide area to play.

This park is amazing. My huskies love to run and this is the best park for them to really feel free.
Note: Someone asked me for a doggy poop bag so I dont believe they have them readily available like they do at a few other, smaller parks.

Take my dog here every weekend. This is our favourite dog park. There is an open area when you enter the park and the trail leads in to a small forest (which can get little bushy and shrubby in summer). Behind the forest, there is another open field. The park is heavily trafficked during weekends which is great if you want your dog to socialize as there is a lot interactions.

Good size park. Mostly sand/gravel with lots of trees. Permanent water dishes are a plus. Added bonus: you can park on the road right in front of the park!

If you ever visit that area don’t miss the dog park.

Definitely not the best dog park around. Not horrible but not much grass and and some concrete hole in the middle that are probably meant for water bowls but are a safety hazard.

My dog Stella's favorite place!, nearly fenced in on all corners, just a few spots you need to watch, generally the folks who attend this park are nice with well behaved dogs, I've never had any problems. Best dog park in the city bar none!

This is our favorite off-leash park and it got better over the summer! They've added washrooms, a water fountain for humans and one for dogs. This is a very busy park but it' really clean. Owners are very good at picking up after their pets. There are some beatiful walking trails and a path that leads to the river. Definately worth going to!

Fantastic place to bring your dogs to run and play. There is ample parking in the gravel lot, or park on the street. As with any other dog park, you will find most dog owners very friendly. There are some that still don't pick up after their dog, so watch your step. Also there are a few picnic tables if you want to watch your pooch run around and play.

Some parents like to bring their children here and not supervise them, the kids run around dogs chase them and the kids cry. PSA this is the dog park not a child park, that one is conveniently located 100 meters away.
This dog park has a fence so your dogs can free roam in safety, as long as no children are on the loose.
Plenty of dogs, owners are pretty good about picking up their dogs pool, and asking for permission before giving out snacks.

Love this dog park! Nice and new! Great set up! Easy to get to. Also nice to have agility set up! Plus it has a lot of space if you want to play with your dog sort of alone. Also has a little smaller area for those smaller or more agility bound dogs! Love it!!

Photos of a smoky day. This dog park is lovely. Fully fenced. Huge. Nice treed areas. People pick up after their dogs reasonably. Very nice.

Great dog park for bigger dogs. Wish it was better lit at night though

So sooo much fun! Beautiful walking trail..amazing walk for off leash although I would not let my dogs off if they didn’t have reliable recall! There are a couple garbage cans scattered around..personally I think they need more! All the people on the trail are lovely and any dogs we’ve come across have been great as well. We keep one of our boys leashed because he’s a flight risk..he still has an awesome time! We’ve gone in the summer and winter and would recommend this place year round!!

Always friendly people! Great little park to circle! (Beware puddles 💀)

My dog is named Frobisher. The park is on Frobisher. She thinks of it as her own.

We love coming to the Hawrelak off leash side, prior to crossing the pedestrian bridge towards Laurier Park. It's quieter than the Laurier Park but a very well travelled multi-use trail with many interwoven pathways to take. The riverside pathways become very slippery with precipitation as the path is dirt/mud, but the main wider pathway stays relatively more dry as there is tree coverage. Always a beautiful view when walking in the River Valley, but autumn is our favorite season to travel the trails

Hawrelak is an absolutely stunning park. In the winter they have an ice castle and you can go skating on the pond. While in the summer they often have live music events in the amphitheatre. It's a lovely place to wander - lots of birds and picnic tables.

Gorgeous trail with multiple access points.
Picknick and play areas. Paved cycling trail and unpaved single tracks. Perfect for families, children and strollers.

Great shady and grass covered park to wear out your furry friends. 🐶
A water tap would be nice, but you can also jump in the creek just outside the fenced park.

I love this off leash park. Improving annually with pĺanting more trees, adding more beautiful donated benches, bags available allover if needed, well maintained & friendly people & beautiful dogs of all ages & breeds. There is also a Fantastic Maple Grove Dog Park Association of wonderful volunteers!

One of the best fenced dog parks in Edmonton area. There is even a part for smaller (or shy) dogs. There's all kinds of agility training features, there's benches and cleaning stations with poopie bags. Wonderful place to take your pup! June of 2018 - there's some development being done so check before to make it's not closed.

Best dog park in town. Connected to walking trails, & pretty river ( for a quick dip and a sip for the mutts, also great to wash down a dirty dog). Mostly great owners, can get quite windy.

Nice dog park - decent size and good fence. It's got trees in it, but is still very exposed to the wind. No lights at night, or water available

So grateful for this treed, wide open space! Our dog loved running around freely. There's a very thoughtful tennis ball sharing net, a leash-on/leash-off area AND a separate dog run. That last feature is so key if your dog for some reason has a tough time fitting in with the other pooches because he can still have a safe off-leash space.
