Some amazing view points!
Since when it became McGill’s private property? We drove all the way down just to realize that we had to buy tickets from website and it is all sold out! We have come here a couple of times before Covid and were never asked to buy tickets in advance. Quel dommage
Beautiful hike through a wooded area to the falls and then the suspension bridge.
Serene , amazing staff , if you are a nature lover , the trails are worth it.

Steeper hike with terrific views of Finlayson Arm. Highlight: lots of Arbutus and Manzanita’s.
Very beautiful place, a paradise for dogs.

Long but really breathtaking.
mont saint Hilaire is amazing, especially at this time of the year. access fees are well used and the place is well maintained. having such a nice spot so close to Montreal is amazing. highly recommend going during the week as else it gets crowded. they rent crampons if you forget yours, as did my friend. you can even get a hot chocolate when the hike is over.

Awesome hike. Took us just under 2 hrs round trip from Emma Dickson trailhead. We took the western most route along the ridge and had great views to the south and Saanich inlet.

Well marked trail(s) to Holmes Peak, a very nice lookout at the peak.
Beautiful area. Bring your camera.
We did a full loop from MB trailhead to Timberman trail sign (just off the road) as photos depict. First half of the trail to the Bight isn’t hard but occasional rocks and tree roots growing above ground. Visible path and signage every now and then. Chunk of time spent at the Bight admiring the scenery and marine habits and species.

Be warned, second half of the trail is hard. Start just by the bight, along the trail there are steps on steeper inclines and railings to assist the climb. Unfortunately there is suppose to be a waterfall but it got dried out by July 4th, 2023. Will need to return later in the year to see it. We exited at the sign Timberman Trail which next to it is the parking lot where we initially parked and started on the trail.

There is a washroom by the parking lot.

Reaching such a breathtaking view with a 25-30 minute climb is truly an incredible experience. As you ascend to the summit, you'll discover a swing waiting for you. Imagine swaying back and forth against a backdrop of stunning scenery. It's a moment to simply savor and enjoy.

Embarking on a journey that takes no more than half an hour, you'll find yourself immersed in the wonders of nature. Each step along the way unveils new sights, sounds, and sensations, building anticipation for what awaits at the top. The path you traverse might be challenging at times, but the reward at the end is more than worth it.
Easy and short trail, yet very beautiful and a surprising view at its end.

Great place to hike
Up the falls and gold mine loop was fun
It took about an hour to climb the Scarf Hill and climb to the Stewart Mountain summit. A course that is not too difficult to go with children. The top view is so-so.

The first Nations trail that goes around the perimeter of this small lake, I would say is probably my favourite nature trail that I’ve ever walked on :-) I really liked the floating trail part too.

I visited the park on a couple of occasions. It was a lovely experience where the trail goes along the Humber River. There are multiple spots along it, where you can just sit and relax beside the river. Good for cycling too. Was an enjoyable experience.
Everything about this park was awesome!

First nation trial was awesome. Many small deers in this place, but they didnt eat the carrots. You can feed the fish in the lake. The fish food dispenser machine accepts only 25 cent coins. The walk around the lake was awesome and colourful. You will find information about totem and their cultural information.

I think many people missed this place because you need to take a left turn from the main route and there were no sign boards which specifies this is the route to spot-4. Almost all the cars on my front did not take left to this spot and went straight.
It’s ok. Good for rollers and cyclists, not a lot to see there

Waugh Creek Falls is a lovely little area with lots of green and a trail nearby with a viewpoint. Current this is as far on the Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park as you can walk, and the next part of the trail is blocked off. The falls are also kept blocked off from people walking to it, so the viewpoint allows for a nice sight from afar.
This is a nice trail that connects to lots of other trails in the Goldstream Provincial Park.

The maps around the park and at the visitor’s Centre say that there is parking here, but there is none nearby. We ended up parking at the Prospector’s Trail Parking Area after trying to navigate traffic in the area.
From Andrew Hamilton Gault: the mountain of St. Hilaire is my most treasured possession, and in offering it to McGill it is with the hope that its beauties and amenities may be preserved for all time to come, not only in the immediate interests of the university itself, but, through its corridors of learning, as a great heritage for the benefit and enjoyment of the youth of Canada. wow! who knew you could own a mountain!? 🤷🏽‍♂️😂 anywho, it’s a great collection of trails!

Our route along the Holmes peak trail reached the Jocelyn Hill. This is a mountain and forest trail with about four view points. Each of them offers stunning views of the Saanich Bay valley with forested mountains. Such a landscape can surely be called a fjord.
The flora of these places seemed very unusual to me. Douglas fir🌲 with raised branches, hemlock with an egg-shaped crown, intricate red arbutus trunks, ubiquitous broom bushes with yellow flowers - all this caused a feeling of something natural and beautiful, but at the same time unfamiliar.
The difficult path was at the very ascent to Jocelyn Hill, rocky and steep. But it was worth it!!! The view is simply mind-blowing!!! Towering mountains covered with dense vegetation right out of the water and a bald eagle🦅 hovering above them. And this view belonged only to us, not a single human being was around.
During our week-long stay in Victoria, we explored many hiking trails. But this one seemed to me the best mountain route because of the balance of the trail length, its complexity and views beauty.
I want to note one more thing, that when in the ascent direction it took us 2 hours to get to the Jocelyn top, and in the opposite direction it took 1 hour. I think we accelerated due to the fact that we were descending⛷️, not climbing; because we no longer went to the view points and therefore chose a shorter route; well, the third, no less important, since going back we didn't get lost (which happened repeatedly during the ascent).
If you are full of energy and crave beautiful views, then I sincerely recommend you to walk along the Holmes peak trail.
9$ per person of age 18 and plus. Less than 18 years the entry is free.
You have good parking place.
A beautiful lake on top of the mountain.
Not many people and less crowded.
Amazing hike! The Summit hike is a bit more experienced hike but the hike to Mckenzie Bight itself is spectacular. Fairly easy trail for pedestrians and cyclists with an amazing view

What a great trail with spectacular views. Hard to believe this trail and others like it are minutes away from Victoria. Highly recommend it for anyone just starting out on hiking or for those who want a short adventure full of beautiful trees and flowers like the fairy slipper aka lady slippers.

Part of Parc Omega

Super nice Trail around the lake with some very nice totems and accompanying information.

We have walked it many many times and will continue to do so when we visit Parc Omega.
Had a lovely hike to the summit of mount work. I was surprised to find the parking lot full on a Tuesday, thankfully I was able to park long the road.
Amazing fun easily accessible
Very beautiful view, long distance hiking, make sure to bring water with you, also some light snacks if you want to make a little stops for break. I really enjoyed the hiking. The view is amazing from the top of the mountain.
I recommend it so much for people who loves hiking and able to walk long distance.

A nice little beauty spot. Not particularly impressive when the meltwater isn't running, but a nice bookend to the hike to the location from Sooke Hills Wilderness.
That view - damn
I really enjoyed this trail through mossy old forest, along creeks , water falls and then end up by the ocean. Not for out of shape people as it is all downhill and then back up again.
If you head to the Stewart Mountain trailhead at the end of Stewart Mountain Road you are in for a treat. Park on the side of the road and be prepared for a great outing with multiple trails. You are actually able to connect to Mt Work on Minnis Road and even all the way south to Thetis Lake. But for this outing to get to Stewart Mtn Summit head past the gate and follow the gravel road for a while looking out for a trail sign on the left that points you up hill to the right and that’s the turn for the summit.

If you get up to the Summit then enjoy the panoramic views from the bluffs and carry on down the other side on the main trail and finish up connecting with the Scafe hill loop.

Because there are so many trails it is helpful to have a good sense of direction and a gps track. The Scafe Hill loop trail can be followed to bring you back out to where you parked.
This place isn't for a leisure walk, it even has a sign posted letting you know you might be getting in a little over your head with this one. Not recommended for people with bad knees or a heart condition just for the sheer walk down then back up again. The view at the bottom reminded me of Lake Louise in Alberta. What a gorgeous view, was so glad I didn't give up and pack it in. Definitely feeling it the next day kinda vibes. I had my knees taped and used walking poles for added stability. Bring water and some snacks because you're gonna want to take it all in. Definitely coming back here again and highly recommended as well.
Stunning hike and views. We did the 3.4km return with 3 kids, took some motivation to get back up the ascent to the car park.
Can get crowded in the evenings. But its peaceful at other times.
My friends and I were there September 14th. We started our journey from Esther Lorrie Park. There are fields of Canada Goldenrods along the trail. It's a good season to watch them.
Not my favourite but quite nice for park in the city. Only 30 mins drive from Toronto you should arrive at the parking lot on the east side of Albion Rd. Some of the pictures are misleading as I don't find those places during my visit. I have gone on both side of the park and follow the trail to the very end. The creek are dirty as there's homeless camp nearby. The trail is also busy with cyclists that won't slow down. Always focus on your surroundings if you don't want to get hit by them. Bring your dog but always put them on leash as there are other wild animals in this park. Washroom can be found on the entrance near the playground but no water fountain at all.
Amazing view of the ocean and walking through an amazing forest. It might be a bit steep at times for those with reduced mobility, but overall isn't too demanding.
Had never heard of the trail but gave it a shot during some snowy weather. Turns out that probably wasnt the best idea but it was still a beautiful trail we enjoyed the way down. Very quiet area and an excellent part of the coast line. Will return for sure snow free.

A lovely walk through the forest. The path is easy to follow and suitable for hikers, runners, bikers and those with jogging strollers. The waterfalls themselves are a lovely checkpoint giving you a good point to turn back to where you started or the option of continuing further.

Good waterfall after the rains. While the access path is very well laid out and well maintained, parts if it are very steep. Worth the 2km walk.
This is a beautiful place for people who love nature, scenic trails, for hiking or walking. You can sit by the river banks in the summer for some peace and quiet
Waugh Creek Falls are very beautiful with the wonderful sound of rushing water particularly during the Spring.
