Nice young lady named Candy helped us out in custom frames helped us. Took a little too long, but I think she was new to the store and her great attitude more than made up for it. Cut glass for frames is too high.
Went in the Micheals at uptown yesterday and the staff I interacted with was extremely rude before I could even say a word, her facial expressions, her body language was all very disgusting. Her name is Terri Lynn and her attitude is awful, people like that should not be working customer service let alone put in a manager position. The way she even addressed other customers before me was so unhelpful and just rude. There are reviews about staff being rude to people and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is her because I have been there many times and was never met with such attitude as one she displayed yesterday, other staff were helpful and polite. I am hoping Terri Lynn gets some type of training on customer service and an awareness of the job she has chosen to do because she may be letting that manager position get to her head and just there acting ridiculous.
Michael's is one of the bigger arts and crafts shops around here. While their prices aren't exactly cheap, their discount and sale events make it worth a visit! With a membership I got rewards plus 40% off my item during one of their sales. The store is very clean and organized, with staff walking around and ready to help customers. You can also order online for pickup, delivery or walk in store to see what's available, as some items aren't shown online.

So impressed! My online order of a single frame and mat arrived today and was so beautifully packed, it could have survived any natural disaster you can imagine. The packer was so thorough! Starting with corner protectors, then a foam sheet, followed by mini-bubble wrap followed by extra-tough mega-gigantic bubble wrap, all packed in a sturdy cardboard box. Now that is service! You can bet I am hanging onto the box and packing materials so the next time I have to send a fragile package, I am good to go. Awesome job, Michaels!

Art newb. Popped in this shop for a couple of drawing supplies and was pleasamtly surprised by the selection. Everything is well organized and shopkeepers were quite helpful in narrowimg down my selection. I'll be back - and definitely recommend.

Nice layout makes it easy to locate what you're looking for. Staff is helpful. Some items are a little on the pricey side but they do have good sales. This store is fully accessible and the aisles have lots of room for maneuvering strollers, wheelchairs and walkers.
We love this shop for art supplies and they do a great job with framing as well. I even recommended them to the company I work for, for award letter framing.Great!
I have been getting my paintings custom framed with all the hardware on the back of my chosen frame at Uptown for years. I knew it needed brackets in this case. Normally they do great work there. I am truly disappointed in the workmanship I am seeing from them now. It should not look like this. When you work so hard on a painting you expect some level of professional work from the framer. It is not. I am no longer going to go to this location as the customer service has gone down hill.
One picture is how it should be done. The other pictures is what was done. The canvas is the same size but in different frames. It costs over 30 dollars plus the cost of the frame to get this done. Not happy.

Heather and Amber are both amazing, creative talents. They both provide a welcoming environment for their students. I am a retired person who went from drawing stick people to creating art that I now hang on our family’s walls. Heather’s talents also transfer into her knowing just the right frame to enhance art pieces. I cannot say enough of what a wonderful place this is for all who gather there to cultivate their artistry and who want to find a place to feel comfortable.

Adorable shop. The owner is extremely nice and friendly, prices are very fair, great selection of products (including one I was not able to locate at Michael's as they carry nothing of the type) and the store so well organized that you can tell they have a passion for art. Would much rather support this store than a chain like Micheals.

Customer service could improve. I had gone to see a cashier by the name of Norma and I did not have my receipts. She had rolled her eyes and sighed. That was very bad customer service. I have returned many items to Michael’s and never got this type of reply. If you don’t want to be there then don’t work.

It was my first time at this store today and it had a great selection (and the biggest canvases I could find anywhere). The man who helped me went above and beyond when my lack of planning meant my new xxl canvas would not fit in my SUV…he didn’t hesitate to help me secure it to my cars roof rack with the utmost care. The Courtyard at the MacLaren is such a beautiful place to host your wedding ceremony! The natural lighting coming in paired with the way you can set it up is great! The staff at the Mac is also amazing and provided perfect service at the wedding I officiated for Joyful Receptions this summer!
In a pinch, they have all the basics, but they've downsized to 1 floor instead of 2, so they didn't have what I wanted the last 2 times I was there.
I wanted to create a custom gallery wall in my home, and after doing research I came across Creative Palette. I gave Heather a call and she was very pleasant and professional. I enjoyed my experience working with her. It was truly a collaborative effort! She listened to my requirements and helped me select great frames to display my family pictures. Lots of products but barely any staff so difficult to find things unless you're intending to spend a few hours browsing. Think I'll probably use Amazon for things I know I want to buy as it feels like the chaos of Canadian Tire only they just sell uncompetitively priced crafts.

The store is a Michaels, generally well stocked. Staff are helpful, but the queue at checkout is almost always too long, but not excessively, they have it timed just awkwardly.

I had a very special graphite drawing of my late pup commissioned and it deserved to go in a great frame. After researching online, I liked what I read about the Creative Palette and so I called Heather. After a short conversation and in our appointment, I knew I wanted Heather to do the framing and that she would take care of my art and it was safe in her hands. Her art experience gives her a unique edge on getting just the right shade of mat and frame so that the picture remains the focus. I am thrilled with the result! I've been going to this DeSerres with my mom for the past 10 years and the team here is amazing - super friendly, knowledgeable for any art project we've been doing. I tried to apply for a job posted on their website, sent an email with resume and cover letter, went in person also and left a resume. I also called their hiring department and left a message and after 3 months no one even returned my phone call. Their employee at the front desk told me the job posting has been there for more than a year. Maybe they should remove it so people don't waste their time applying or showing up in person. If a manager had at least responded to my messages that would've been respectful considering this isn't a regular grocery store or coffee shop.

Sign clearly states something is on sale but when it's rung up the sales associate says only the ones with the pink labels are actually on sale. I asked if it the sign says that, and she confirmed, so I took another look and it doenst say the pink labels. Not the first time they have mis-signed or mislead me. They do have good products but they are over priced and rely on sales, I just wish I had an idea what was actually on sale. It was a summer Ashland stem, just wasn't a pink label.
We were married here in July 2023. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and doesn't need much in terms of decor. We had a blast! I highly recommend a wedding coordinator because the MacLaren is not a full-service wedding venue; you need to be on top of the planning and coordination yourself, and logistically there are a lot of moving parts on the wedding day. We hired Shannon Hirlehey of All Things Love Events and she was excellent. We were totally able to relax and enjoy the day since everything was under control. I highly recommend getting married at the MacLaren!

We checked this small studio out on a Saturday morning. The ladies at the front desk were super friendly and helpful. If you live in the area it is well worth the visit. There was a juried art show for grade 12 students of simcoe County. The participants art work was awesome and interesting. Thank you for a fine visit and your welcoming staff.
I usually orders at Erin Mills location, but since we had plans of going to Etobicoke area, I chose the Etobicoke location for pickup. I ordered vinyls online and picked the items in store. But disappointed to received a “returned” vinyl. The plastic cover is already ripped open and it was just sealed with a tape. I wonder if they will be happy if the same incident happened to them. It was a very frustrating experience! This will be my first & last time to order with Etobicoke location.
The whole framing department stocks narrow profile ready made frames. This is an issue if you wanted to add a custom matte. Thus forcing you to have it customed framed.
This location tends to be better stocked then other DeSerres locations. There are better art supply stores in the area however. But if you need a specific brand carried by DeSerres or more crafty supplies it's a good store, and staff is more friendly than average.
A great place for art supplies. So many varieties, and the shop is just across the street car 510 station " Spadina Ave at Richmond St West". Because i kept following the google map which was showing me Camden St but it wasn't there.
Wonderful place to buy items for arts and crafts. I went for a sketchbook, but bought a lot more. There was a discount on acrylic and min additional, there is also a clearance section. I bought very cute table easel for my future works.

This location has sales going on! The student card allows you to have an additional discount on select items. Customer service is fantastic. I received helpful advice on selecting paints and return was no problem within thirdly days for unused products.

I’m writing this review as a warning to others not to trust this company with with your art. We have had absolutely horrendous service that resulted in hundreds of dollars of our art work being destroyed. Below are the details of the multiple mistakes and the refusal of this company to take any responsibility for their role in it.
A family member used this service to send our art across the country for Christmas. She was surprised it hadn’t gotten here before Christmas, and when she followed the owner told her he had forgot about the pieces and would quickly put them together. This meant the pieces were late and did not arrive in time for Christmas.
When receiving the packages it was very clear the job was completed quickly and with very little regard with the monetary and sentimental value these pieces hold. We had a original pencil drawing that was supposed to be placed in wax paper as to not be damaged, it was not and instead placed in plastic with an incredible amount of tape that made it difficult to unwrap with ripping it. The pieces of cardboard used to go around the art were clearly ripped from a shipping box that was previously used. Which of course, would have impacted the strength and integrity it. On one side, two flaps of a box were taped together which created a natural place for the art to bend when handled or held which of course it did. The package was wrapped in paper, but had no indication/stickers/markings to handle with care or not to bend. Both lack of proper packaging and lack of signs were what ultimately cased our art to be damaged when in transit.
When we contacted the owner, he immediately became defensive. Insisting he packaged things from the rooms and that using ripped shipping boxes was the “industry standard”. Anyone who has purchased art, would obviously know that is not the cause and it was insulting to say the least. He blamed Canada post, although there was no way they could have known how delicate the package was with no labels.
We then found out he had not insurance this package adequately, which meant insurance only covered 1/6 of the cost of the art that was lost. When I asked for a refund for poor services he refused. When I asked for reimbursement for our pieces since his poor work caused the damage, he refused.
Not only have we lost 100s of dollars, but this company also refused to acknowledge their role in it which has been even more infuriating. Do not trust this company with anything of value, and find someone who will value your pieces as much as you do.

Quite busy, but great store with a good selection of products, no matter the art/craft/hobby. The Christmas shopping rush is in full swing, so it was busy. But there were lots of friendly staff walking around to see to customer needs.
A very beautiful discovery. It was claimed! We could admire the works of art, I was dazzled by the colours, the different types of techniques, some paintings gave the possibility to imagine multitudes of scenarios and in each of them I could feel certain emotions that emanated. It is said that beauty is relative, but personally I loved it and beauty was present in every work.

It's always an amazing place to visit and I usually have the gallery to myself new highlights every few months. This visit they gave free tea and Art exhibition books that are perfect for a coffee table.
Rod (the owner) and he's super capable team are seriously good with framing all my art works. And if needed (I've asked), he is very good at suggesting what would look nice. Most important: the amount of years of experience to frame paintings is impressive. He's so respectful !

My 11 yr old daughter absolutely loves these classes. Heather and her associates are wonderful to the children, keeping them inspired and happy. My child's demeanour actually changes while attending - after the class she is calm, contented, and quite obviously 'in the zone'. I am grateful that my girl has such a positive experience to look forward to each week.
I do acrylic painting. I could not find nothing useful for my art here. But I bought stylish Italian rolling bag, my wife loves it to go shopping. Prices are $$$.

I went to the Creative Palette in hopes that my special piece I painted on canvas could be framed. I knew little about this process and hoped I would get direction and assistance. Heather did not disappoint. Heather new exactly what would compliment my painting and I felt comfortable leaving my special piece with her knowing she would take very good care of it.
The price was on point and would absolutely support local than the chain stores, especially with my special piece.

This framing shop is an institution in the Exchange District. The owner always has perfect suggestions for framing. I have NEVER been disappointed with finished products and have had many items framed here over the years. I am missing the First Friday evenings to see new art pieces on display.
I had my wedding photo framed at Wallack Galleries and it was by far the best service and selection in town! Morgan has great taste and attention to detail you can only get from this gallery. I highly recommend visiting the Vancouver Fine Art Gallery! A stunning collection. Janice McLean was my favourite local artist featuring beautiful Italian sceneries and a striking figurative piece. The gallery also exhibits some original pieces of Frida Kahlo which was a wonderful surprise as well as an original photograph of Marilyn Monroe! Dror the gallery owner was so inviting and knowledgable about the pieces. Truly a great experience!

Love Wallack’s! The staff are incredible knowledgeable about art and truly care about selecting and producing the right frames to house it in. My grandparents used Wallack’s way back in the day, I’ve got tons of their framed artwork on the wall with the Wallack’s sticker to prove it! One of the last great Ottawa institutions!
My daughter and I have been attending art classes with Heather at the Creative Palette for two years now. We find Heather to be an encouraging and helpful instructor. She has a lovely teaching style that encourages individual expression, while offering technical instruction. The projects are creative and beautiful. The environment is comfortable and welcoming.

They are very friendly and do a great job enhancing cherished pieces. A little pricey but worth the cost if there is something really special needing to get framed.

Such an amazing place. The quality of the exhibits is usually amazing. I enjoy that the curator has a modern, somewhat-conceptual lean. It's a great place for a coffee after you check out the gallery, or just as a break from the downtown area.
