Great place to rent a bike for your time in Ottawa. The owner, Harry, was always very nice and helpful, as was his associate, Sasha. Their location is also really unique and interesting. If you need a bike in Ottawa, look no further. They offer great value and service.

Very helpful! Came in with a flat and they were able to hook me up. I also asked if they could raise my handlebars and they did so easy peasy. It ended up that I needed a new tire (after getting 2 flats in 2 days) and they kept my bike safe until the tire came. In. Reasonably priced, and great service as soon as you walk in the door. Thank you!!

We recently had the pleasure of taking a guided bicycle tour with RentABike in Ottawa, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! Our tour guide, Art, was nothing short of amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and humble, making the tour enjoyable and informative for everyone in our group.

Art led us through the heart of Ottawa, showing us key landmarks such as Rideau Hall, the office and residence of the Governor General, the Prime Minister’s residence, various embassies and ambassadors' residences, and so much more. His insights into each location added a rich historical context that we would have otherwise missed.

The scenic views of the city, including Rideau Falls and the Ottawa River, were breathtaking. One of the highlights was a refreshing swim in the Ottawa River after a few hours of biking. The facilities at the swimming spot were exceptionally clean and well-maintained, providing a perfect way to relax and cool off.

All the staff at RentABike went above and beyond to ensure a smooth experience. They helped us check out our bikes, provided a place to change clothes if needed, kept our belongings safe until we returned, and even gave us free water bottles. They were all so enthusiastic, adventurous, and friendly, making them a joy to interact with.

This was hands down the best bicycle guided tour we have ever had. We highly recommend RentABike in Ottawa, especially if you can have Art as your guide. He truly made the experience special and memorable.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I first visited RentABike over 20 years ago in Aug 2003, when fresh out of university and visiting my hometown, we decided to ride up to the Champlain Lookout in Gatineau Park. Harry was there at the time to help us get set up on nice high end road bikes - we had such a blast, we came back a second time and rented a tandem for some fun times along the Ottawa Parkway. Fast forward to July 2024; now married with young kids and visiting my mom in Kanata for a few weeks, we needed bikes for a long term rental to allow the kids to attend a Pedalheads camp (and to let us get out and explore the great road !) When I learned that RentABike was still around, there was no hesitation on who we would rent our bikes from, even with the trek downtown from Kanata. To my surprise, Harry was still there! The RentABike staff were amazing in dialing in the fit for our rental bikes, ensuring a perfect fit for our boys on their mountain bikes, and the gravel bikes my wife and I were given were superb. The bikes were all well maintained and performed as expected on the road and on the trails; the long term rental proceeded without a hitch. All in all, I can't thank everyone at RentABike enough for the excellent service, experience, and memories they've made possible for my family - and that's over a 20 year gap! I can only hope that RentABike will still be there for us when we next visit Ottawa. Thanks again!

I’ve come in a few times over the past few months for service on my bike after a friend recommended them. The staff are all friendly and professional. What I really appreciate though is how direct and clear they are when providing cost/time estimates for repairs. Truly some of the best people in the city when it comes to customer service.

My husband and I rented carbon fiber bikes to go up to the Champlain lookout in Gatineau. The staff were friendly and adjusted our seat posts. They had helmets on site. Really convenient location!

Bought my first e-bike and couldn’t be happier with the service, price and experience, thanks Chris! The bike, Giant Roam E+, rides great with or without the motor assist. After a long ride, with home up hill, it was delightful to put the bike in auto mode and have some help. The various modes provide options to suit the level of assist you want and the motor is responsive and very quiet.

I always have a great experience with Urbane, especially as someone who is still new to bikes & biking. The staff are so friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable, and there's zero attitude. Shout out to Jamie for taking over an hour with me to find the perfect bike this summer and Samantha for getting it sized up and ready to go!

I asked for a safety check on my bike after i rebuilt it upon moving to Toronto. They not only did a very thorough safety check but they also called and gave me a list of things that were wrong with the bike that needed to be fixed or taken care of. They gave me a list of things that they already did, as well as recommendations on what parts to replace. They also sent me a detailed report of everything they checked by email. I got very professional service for what I considered to be a reasonable price for safety. I couldn't afford to make every change that they recommended, so they told me things in order of highest priority to get fixed, so that I could ride safely.

I have only been using Urbane Cyclist for about a year, mostly for repair and maintenance. While I have found all the staff to be friendly and helpful (I can't count the number of times I've been ignored by staff in other bike shops in the city), I've found the mechanics to exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. All repairs etc. have been fixed correctly the first time (in my experience, this is often not the case). Further, they do an excellent job in explaining what needs to be done and how much it will cost. They also contact you before repairing any unforeseen issues which involve additional parts/costs. All around, really excellent service.

This store is a bikes’ gem on Queen West. I’m a loyal customer! I’m a fan of Giant so I always get my bikes from them. Also, their customer service is top notch, super friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. I’m super excited to get my first road bike from them and can’t wait to use it this summer. Thanks to Chris and Gaspard for helping me! I definitely recommend and will be certainly be coming back for all my cycling related needs.

I would 100% recommend this bike shop! It was my first time buying a proper bike & I had no expert knowledge walking into the shop… However, Gasper helped me for more than 2 hours & was very patient while explaining any questions I had (10/10 customer service). Overall the store has a variety of different bikes for beginners or advanced bikers.

Excellent service ! Easy to rent. We had visions of going out for the whole day but did the canal to the lake and back and that was enough. They equip you with a lock and you pay when you return so you don’t need to fuss about your time. Seats are a little hard so be prepared. If you are not a regular cyclist maybe they offer a more comfortable seat option. I didn’t ask.

This is my favorite bike store in the city! I go there regularly, both for tune-ups and to buy parts/gear, and it's always a wonderful experience! Staff are always super friendly & approachable, and I never feel talked down to (as I have in some other bike shops). I've gotten 2 bikes tuned up there a handful of times, and the mechanics doing the work are always super transparent about cost, as well as what they feel is necessary to repair versus what is an optional upgrade. Can't recommend the shop enough & I love being able to support a co-op!

Came in to the store with a specific bike in mind (escape 2) after weeks of research, but I left with a different bike altogether (roam 2). So happy I went in with an open mind, because I have zero regrets with the decision! Thanks so much to Chris for helping me out and setting me up with my sweet new ride :) ... Found what we needed but the guy that was working upstairs shoes near football gear has quite a bit of tude. Tuesday right before closing. If you don't know how to talk to people considering you work in cust service, then perhaps don't work in cust. Service.

was a very comfortable bike to ride but after owning it for 10 months and five of those months being parked for winter break still never work from day one correctly. As I pick my bike up, there was oil and grit all over gears and chain. the whole side was scratched up. from being in their warehouse. The shifter was hard to shift from first into third after switching it back down to second the shifter broke gamed left me in low gear. very poor service/quality I will never purchase another bike here again thank I learn their customer service and their quality before I upgraded to an electric bike. Take detailed pics of ur bike if ur like me and keeper it good. I see if I was jamming in bike racks. But if it's on bike rack I use kick stan and 90 percent time bike was sitting in my living room. I had one ding that bugged me. Know looks like someone used a cheese grater to side of it.

I have been taking my bikes to Urbane for over ten years. The staff are knowledgeable and give practical advice about repairs, taking into account your budget and needs, and taking the time to explain things if you need it. The place aways feel calm and welcoming, and I appreciate that there are always women and gender-diverse people working the floor.

I had not good service in the store. I bought my first road bike from the store, and the seller recommended me some accessories. I trusted him and bought all the stuff he recommended. Two things shows that the seller is unprofessional and his actions are only to maximize the profit without any consideration of the client: 1 The pedal costs me 168 bucks, but it is almost useless as the cleat is for the mountain bike. 2 The bike comes with the bottle cages, but he asked me to buy two. Fortunately, the other staff corrected this.

Armstrong was of tremendous help with finding me the right hockey equipment today. He's patient and knowledgeable. This location is a bit out of the way for me, but I would definitely come back for the friendly staff. Thanks again Armstrong!

I came to Sports Experts last week to buy a winter jacket a guy named Sandro was very insightful about winter jackets and he helped me get the jacket that I wanted and for the right price. He gave a terrific and overall compete tour of the jackets and i’m very thankful for his service. He’s such a terrific employee.

As a client i’ve never felt more rejected, disrespected and insulted ever in my whole life. Yes this sport expert is absolutely huge. But my personal experience makes this store seem unbearable. I want to publicly denounce the « indian » Manager named Armstrong as the worst worker to exist in the whole carrefour. Having anger issues, disgusting expressions, and a bratty attitude. He expressed insults loudly to my father and we were left speechless. I honestly don’t understand how upper management keeps workers this way. This shows how careless they are regarding customer service. It also shows laziness on the hiring team. I honestly would suggest to not go to this specific sport expert as he, Armstrong, completely destroys the reputation it had.

Placed an order, with Express Shipping that I paid $22.00 for, emailed 2 days later to find out where my order was and was told they aren't in stock. Never got a call or email then while on hold with the store, looking for my order I get an email refund - beyond Poor! And to blame your website guy - come on! I would have ordered elsewhere if you didn't have express shipping so I will have a sad 10 yr old from Christmas!

Amazing staff. Bought some slides 2 months ago and they wore out. Needed to buy new ones. I showed Armstrong the manager. He said it wasn’t normal and wanted to exchange them. I didn’t have receipt. Armstrong took the time to look at his system, find transaction and exchange them for me. A great manager and a great human. Kudos to SE for hiring such great staff.

Rented a higher end road bike and all I had to bring was my kit and shoes. Everything else was provided for a reasonable price.

Answered emailed questions quickly and bike was ready when I arrived. Bike was in great condition and Harry himself helped me out.

You know I have come across a lot of bike shops in this city. Many of them good Many of them bad. Owen who was my service adviser communicated with me throughout the pandemic With precision. I would recommend this bike shop to any person I Had one of the best experiences When I finally took my bike in I had a wheelset built and Replaced every single component that required and clearly stated what was needed and was not needed to be done. They now own my business and I would recommend the shop to any person. One of the best shops in the city in my opinion. Thanks Urbane cycle. My bike has never worked this good. The best customer service I have ever received at a bike shop. Extremely knowledgeable And they actually care that's what makes this shop one of the best.

You want to really make sure your ski boots are getting fitted properly. You definitely want the folks that fit and sell you your ski boots stand by their service and product after you've left the shop. That's why I always go to Austrian ski shop. Real pros. Great service. Passionate too.

Regrettably we experienced a team that didn't feel very keen to help. We were asked a couple of questions about skill level and ski type, we replied, the assistant pointed at some skis, shared no further info and walked off. We expected him to return to help (we indicated we didn't have much experience, none of the items had price markings either) but he and all the staff seemed now somehow otherwise distracted. It was a strange experience. Like feeling invisible. Generally in Montreal small independent stores have a team overflowing with enthusiasm to help you choose and sell you shoes, skis etc. Not here, but perhaps it was just a bad day for the team or they were feeling nervous about Omicron.

Myself and a friend of mine were in need of new ski boots and had little luck finding what we needed in Ottawa. We travelled to Montreal and had the Boutique de Ski Austrian on our list and couldn't have had a better experience. Marc was our boot fitter and he listened to our concerns and thoughts and offered suggestions that resulted in two skiers who are excited to hit the snow with new boots. He was patient, friendly and the environment was great. Paul was always there to offer his suggestions also and treated us so well.
I can't recommend this ski shop more for their service and dedication to have clients leave happy. Thank you Marc and Paul so much!

Very good service. Super friendly atmosphere, except when the high school kids come in and keep talking to the owner about a bunch of random nonsense. You can tell that there's only so much anyone can listen to a bunch of pimply faced teenagers.
That being said, the ski selection is very selective and I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. As an intermediate-expert though, the gear is up to par and the advice is beyond reproach.
