Incredible market, very well organised and it offers a wide selection of things to buy. There are also some snacks you can buy for 2-6€ in order to try out products before you splash the cash. The market might be open until the evening, but if you want the full experience you should go before 13-14 o’clock because by 16 the fish shops are already closed even on weekdays.
Go to market for fresh fish, meats and vegetables. It’s a bit pricier but excellent quality. I love taking visitors here—Boqueria is too turística—and more representative of an open market I think.
Not so much a market as a collection of couple of dozen stalls each specializing in certain type of gastronomy, with delicious foods that you can try on the spot. Very crowded but if you are a little patient you can always find some space at the tables to taste taste the food. While being a majour tourist attraction, the crowd seemed to be surprisingly local
What a fun place to visit! It was crowded at 4pm but nobody seemed to notice as I think it gets more so later in the evening. Don't miss coming here! One of our tour guides told us this place has 4 Michelin star chefs. Wow! We thought we ordered the chicken croquettes but we really ordered ? fried pork belly so we ended up with both because they looked so good. I loved the pork belly with the lemon mayo drizzle from the chicken. The servers are super nice and so accommodating for us that don't speak Espanol. I'll be heading back today to try the seafood options that were plentiful.

The juices were very fresh and nice! İt's a nice place to try seafood tapas and also meat. Wouldn't recommend vegan meat as the ones they sell there didn't taste very good.
We walked down from Park Guella and wandered into this awesome market. It was different than that tourist market on Las Rambles, but was awesome. If I lived here, I would visit it every day. Super fresh seafood, meat, fruit and veggies. Worth a visit!
Yes, I know this is a tourist trap, but I loved it! It is the largest outdoor market I’ve ever been to. So much stimuli and beautiful food. From the meat stands to the fruit stands, to the fish stands, to spice stands, to candy stands and bars for meals, it’s amazing to see. Definitely worth a trip!
San Miguel Market was bustling with people, even in the late afternoon. To be honest, I didn't like it as much, but I can't deny that it's a good experience and great for having a quick bite of various small dishes. Despite my personal preference, I appreciated the opportunity to try different foods in one place.

This is definitely a must visit in Madrid, however I wouldn’t plan around it. You can get in and out fairly quickly and try a bunch of different things. Make sure you come with an appetite as there is many things to try and they’re very affordable. The best thing we had was the calamari and shrimp!

Really great place to try out a lot of different tapas. We went on a Saturday morning and it was really crowded but still manageable.
Our favorite thing we ate were the taco bowls, all of them had great flavors. My favorite was the shrimp with egg one.
Definitely recommend to everyone coming to visit Madrid!
Very nice and berry busy market. You can eat and drink here but if you are not hungry it is nice to walk through the market. We bought some fruit, 2 apples and 2 oranges and had to pay six euros. That is very expensive.
This place is so unique and fun, definitely very crowded with tourists but I think it was worth it. Trying local food will always be worth it in my book, there are so many different stalls with SO MANY choices from seafood, fried food, desserts, juices, meat and cheeses ect. Bring an empty stomach because you're going to want to try everything!
Cool market to visit. It is VERY crowded with little space to move and 5-6 rows of stalls with meats, snacks/tapas, fruit juice, and more. Definitely worth a walk through if you don’t mind the rush of people and having to push through a bit. We really enjoyed the fresh fruit juices!

Huge tourist trap, but worth a look. Lots of the same things at various stalls. So much juice, so much cured meat. It all looks cool, but after a while, it starts to seem really repetitive.

This isn't really a market for buying local produce, although you can and people do. If you're looking for where locals go, this isn't it.

Everything is quite expensive so don't expect cheap eats. However, you can get some excellent seafood from some of the spots inside. Sad to see the xuxo place gone.

Absolutely packed with tourists on their phones, but it seems that at least you can move around for the most part.

I recommend the egg stall. There are emu eggs!
Great market - lots of fresh produce, meats, seafood & fish; not many "snacks" to eat right away though
This place is an enjoyable spot to explore, offering a wide variety of fresh products and multiple cuisines.

However, if you have dietary restrictions (Halal in my case), the choices are somewhat limited 🙁
I, for instance, dislike fish, and the majority of offerings were centered around fresh fish and cooked dishes 🍤

On a positive note, I did try a Dragon fruit and coconut juice, which was decent 🥤

As a tourist, it's certainly worth a visit, but don't feel too disappointed if you skip it, and don't invest too much time here.

The fruit market/ stand here is an absolute treasure trove of freshness. I can’t emphasize enough how remarkably fresh the fruits are here; it’s a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality. During our visit, we opted for two freshly squeezed juices and two medium-sized fruit bowls. These bowls were generously filled with a tantalizing mix of grapes, mangoes, pineapples, grapefruit, and kiwis. Each bite was like a burst of revitalizing energy, making us feel like we were floating on cloud nine.

Adding to the charm of our visit was the exceptional customer service. The staff was not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our experience was delightful. Their warmth and helpfulness elevated our visit to the fruit market.

In a nutshell, the fruit market is a must-visit for fruit enthusiasts. The freshness and variety of fruits available are a true treat for your taste buds. Combine that with the outstanding customer service, and you’ve got a winning formula for a memorable and invigorating experience. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore this wonderful place!
this was my favorite mercado in madrid for food. there were soo many tapas options starting at 1 euro making it super easy/fun to try a bunch of different things. warning that it is pretty chaotic inside - filled with both locals and tourists.
As a tourist, this was a wonderful market to explore. Good mix of fresh produce, packed ham and sausages and even clothing which opens a bit later. Do consider grabbing a nice beer from the tap while savouring a pastry or two. Well laid out and architecturally beautiful to just gaze at the ceiling.

Went there about 30 min before closing so most of the booths were closed. What was open, the workers were friendly. The meat shop had a lot of selection. We were a bit hesitant buying anything as we weren’t sure what was good. Although everything looked good!
A bit quieter than Las Ramlas which is in part it's charm

Astounding structure. Loads of choice of places to eat and drink. Lovely little cafes and great surroundings.
Great market!! It's not huge, but the selection is very good quality. There are bunch of tapas shops, and some other local vendors, mainly food related. The tapas that I got were very good and fresh. It was busy though. And they serve alcohol, and there's some seating inside the market. Great place overall and I'd definitely recommend it.
Beautiful place! With a fantastic facade, combining ancient and contemporary architecture. The interior follows the same lineage, with a solid and simple construction. Without being a huge market, it holds varied offers. Inside, for a moment, it seems to transport us to a railway station from other times, with its pillars and metallic arches. A place to visit

Famous market - go in the 1st part of the day
I advise you to go there in morning or day - it’s not so busy inside. On this part of the day you can enjoy many shopping corners and to have a brunch in one of the small restaurants inside the market without crowds.
Prices are higher comparing to other places in the city.

Very important that nowadays this supermarket is on restoration!
That place is really good, if you want to meet a lot of different new people and try a lot of different food - there’s the spot you need to dive in!!!
Meat, sushi, fish, cheese, olives, sandwiches, seafood etc. any best type of drinks!
The variety of the food is enormous!
Same with drinks!
There can be some trouble with finding a spot to sit or stand, but it flows quickly, so you just need to wait a couple of minutes..
Prices are good and affordable a bit higher than middle prices, but remember: you pay for feelings and company, and it is definitely worth it!
Best market that I've ever visited, period. All the favourite local dishes are here. Also a dream for foodies/chefs! I highly recommend the seafood (oysters and if you've never had it before, try the sea urchins).
The most tourist friendly of the Mercados. High quality products at an equally high price. Great food and variety but budget for around 20-40 euros per person, without drinks.
Beautyful place where to have desajuno, al muerzo, brunch, lunch, dinner and appetizers and etc etc plus beers&beers 😝
One of the best markets I have ever been too. So many options of fresh produce & dining options. We tried so much food because it all looked so delicious. I recommend going on an empty stomach. The vendors were also very welcoming.
The best food market in Europe lived up to the hype! So many different food stalls with everything from baked goods to fruit to cheese, cured meats and seafood. Many spots to dine-in as well (mainly bar seating).

Love love love this place! Make sure you go hungry. Nearly all vendors we purchased from had the card option with the US dollar amount showing. Try everything ! There was nowhere to sit down so be prepared to take your food and go or snack walking around. It was very crowded on a Wednesday afternoon at the end of August.
Really nice architecture, with a variety of local food and crafts. Near the Valencia cathedral. It is worth a visit and you can pay by card as well.
Nice market. Quite crowded sometimes and honestly a lot of stuff is too overpriced. 17€ for a tiny portion of deep fried squid and not even freshly fried. I think you can find better food at a better price point. But if you want the market experience, go for it.
I'll be honest here. I don't like the smell of fresh fish, and I know I'm not alone. Yes, it is a terrific place in terms of concept, but as a local, I would not frequently visit it. It's also pretty packed. Regardless of that, you can find a variety of fish, cold cut meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, and sweets shops, among other things. There are also some places that serve food. However, we haven't bought or tried any food here.
Market for tourists. Nice shop shelves, but nothing unique in products or attractive packaging. Not a big offer of products, you can buy the same in any grocery
Was quaint and had local produce. Was a bit quiet but most likely because it was midday and peak summer.
Bought some very nice fresh cherries and figs for €5.
There were a few boards with historical information about the bombings of Barcelona between 1936-1939 which was interesting to learn about.
If you have never been, you should experience the many interesting restaurants inside this incredible Valencian Art Nouveau building located in the city center of Valencia - a beautiful place in a fabulous city!!

Great market in Madrid with lots of great food especially from PAN.
A Chic Gastro-Labyrinth in the Heart of Madrid

The Mercado de San Miguel is a gastronome's paradise - an intricate labyrinth where every turn delights your senses. From the moment you step into its realm, k{you are wrapped in an exciting and exhilarating atmosphere, tantalizing your palate with a myriad of tastes waiting to be explored.

This isn't just a market - it's an experience. Exquisite tapas, world-class wines, artisan cheeses, and exotic foods, it's all here in a perfect blend of modern gastronomy and traditional charm. Each stall is a new adventure, each flavor a novel tale to unfold.

The chic surroundings offer an air of sophistication, making it more than just a place to shop for food. It's a place to relax, converse, and soak in the vibrant culture. Whether you're here for a quick bite or a leisurely evening, the relaxed ambiance and constant buzz ensure a time that's as enjoyable as it is memorable.

In the cutthroat world of culinary exploration, Mercado de San Miguel stands as an oasis. It's a testament to the power of food as a universal language, a melting pot of tastes and cultures. Chic, relaxed, and full of gastronomic delights, it's a must-visit for any discerning palate.
One of my favorite markets anywhere. The variety of food and desserts is expansive. You can try a little bit of everything, or a lot of one. The vendors serve a wide variety of visually enticing gastronomical delights. It’s almost a shame to eat the artistically presented treats, but one must do his/her duty. You can also wash down your lunch with a glass of grape or a pint of beer. It gets very crowded at lunch so keep a close eye on the tables for a spot.
A typical market that gets one extra star in my book because its so much less crowded with the scourge of tourists. Lots of food stalls offering all manner of produce. Place looks clean and well organized, there are food counters inside and a couple of restaurants just on the outside of the marketplace.
Nice market with lots of shops
Food variety is a lot, you can find everything, seafood, vegetables and fruits, meat and products and lots and lots. Place you must go and see
Quiet market in Madrid with a few good spots to grab a drink and/or beer and to buy meat/produce.

My favourite place to visit in Madrid! So many delicious food vendors selling the most beautiful and tasty tapas! So much variety and selection. Quite a bit busier than when we last visited 10 years ago, but the quality has stayed the same. A bit on the pricey side but everything is so filling you will likely only be able to try a few things.
One of the best experiences you could have in Spain. It’s a market with a ton of different food options. From fresh fruit juices to Iberian ham and all the way to chocolate strawberries. Every option you could imagine. Delicious food and really friendly merchants. Would definitely recommend heading here for lunch and come hungry!
Culinary Delight! A food lover's paradise! The market offers a wide variety of fresh and high-quality culinary treasures. From tapas to international delights, every bite is bursting with flavor. The communal ambiance adds to the experience, making it a must-visit spot for locals and travelers alike.
I came here just to check it out!, there are many local produces, like veggies, fruits, dried meat staff and seafood.
An absolute must. Everything I ate was amazing. The whole vibes is amazing. Hard to find a place to actually eat you're probably gonna be standing shoulder to shoulder with a stranger. But we made some new friends that way. Will be going back.

Nice place to get some shade, cool down, grab a drink and refresh yourself after exploring the city on a hot day. There are cafe type areas upstairs. Downstairs will be the restaurant type area as well as a deli.

The art nouveau exterior is definitely unique and strikes some resemblance to the North Train station — they were probably built in the same era. Do grab a horxata or a cafe cortado while taking your break in this lovely edifice.
Awesome delicious local market in Barcelona! Xarcuteria Carlos I Montse inside has delicious fresh jamon iberico and serrano! I brought them back in the Philippines and my siblings loved them! Best ever!
Great experience and fantastic food.
Vibrant atmosphere

A fun place to meander through the stalls! The market is filled with tons of options for fruit, fish, meats, if you think of it, they probably sell it. Surrounding the markets are a few cafes to sit down in as well. The chocolate covered strawberries were delicious! Perfect travel snack while you continue your shopping! 😂🍓🍫🛍️
Great place to walk, clean, fresh food and you can eat here. Tables to share or restaurants inside the market. Beautiful market.

Nice small/medium size open air market stretching through a few streets.
Although its quite accessible, prices are still affordable.
Veggies, fruits, plants, beans, pickles, clothes.. you'll find it.
Will go back for sure.
Fantastic food market. Delicious fresh fruit cups available, as well as other tasty delights.
Not a market if you're looking for clothes It's really a fruit and veg market with a few clothes and haberdashery stalls
No haggling 😂
The food was good and seemed much better than the normal tourist trap food throughout the city.

We sat at the bar which was enjoyable. The bartender helped us pick some good tapas and entree options. The best part was just how open and friendly the people work here were.

We would honestly rate the food as good but the people as very excellent!
This is a great location to watch the world pass by, far enough from the beach to avoid the glut of tourists and with a great atmosphere of local Barcelonan life. Cheaper cervesa than being actually on the beach which is a big plus. Also if too late to visit the larger supermarkets the market has everything you need to buy.
Great "locals" market near the arc de triumph. Not a huge place but had everything you need for a day or a week. Fresh fruits ,meats, cheeses, breads and so on . We had tapas at Cafe Joan. Everything was great and full of flavor. Two of us ate nicely for less than 25$. Definitely recommend trying it out.

I liked it.

One can sit down inside and have a coffee and there are a couple of popular restaurants near the entrance.

HIGH quality, although I still can't find a fresh banana in Madrid. Seems odd, there were plenty in Barcelona.

Fresh fish and shellfish, certain food accompaniments, a couple of smallish fruit and vegetable retailers.

Not a large market, but in a rather unique location. My first time there yesterday, and will go back each of my remaining days here

We were there around lunchtime and some shops were not open. You'll find fresh produce from seafood and meat to bread and spices. It is not as busy as Mercado de la Boqueria and a great place to buy quality cheese and jamon to take home. But there are not many places to get the food to eat at the market.

Mercat de Colón is one of our favorite places in Valencia. It is a great place to relax, have a bite, or and enjoy a drink with family and friends. We often stroll past on our way to the city center and pop in for a little treat.

The contemporary market is worth the visit and explore around for some food and drinks. Nice open space and well looked after.

Free public toilets too on the ground floor.
Super interesting, clean and impressive market boasting brilliant local produce. Great lil restaurant in centre, we copied the locals and had amazing sliced jamón with Bruschetta accompanied with superb Spanish beer! Great way to start the day! Also has great coffee and fresh OJ. Bought some lovely silk scarves too for only 9 euros! Staff were so friendly and professional, must visit if in the area!

Amazing market in the Sant Antoni neighborhood.
The variety of shops and even a Lidl inside make it the best location for all your grocery shopping needs.

Highly recommend it!
Lively market offering meats, fishes and fresh vegetables
Still authentic and very popular with the local population
Better to visit early in the morning
Several excellent bars and restaurants within
Brilliant market located in the heart of Barcelona! You can purchase all of your organic fruits and vegetables as well as fresh seafood and meat. Everything looks so tasty, as you can see from the pictures. There is so much choice you will easily be able to spend a couple of hours wondering around here. There are also some stalls around the outside of the market selling clothes and other useful items. I noticed that there was a couple of restaurants inside and a bar too. Worth a visit!

A lot of meat, meat and more meat. Some have produce. This is a great, historical market for locally-owned businesses. I found it to be impressive for the Spanish pig legs as it first I didn’t realize they were pig legs and thought it was of another animal. The employees at the market are very hard-working and make a living off of the commodities and products they sell.

Such a lovely place to wander around and look at/enjoy the beautiful food. Everything we bought here tasted absolutely amazing and the vendors were friendly and patient with our lack of language ability! We found ourselves passing through multiple times just to enjoy the vibe.
Oh that was wonderful time with my friend during Chile festival time.
Great people, great food, great atmosphere.
Could be more place to seat as that was getting crowded very quickly.
We did enjoyed
The best looking and most comfortable market I have ever seen. They have all sort of items. Pity no halal meat products unless I didn’t open my eyes wide enough. Regardless, this kind of places in Barcelona makes Barcelona the European city for me.

Very colorful indoor market. During the rush hours hard to find a place to sit and eat due to the very small restaurant and bars and the waiting line looking for seat.
Variety of flowers, very cheap actually, mercat opens on Saturday only I think
Plenty of eating and drinking shops with a variety of cuisine. We were a little worried when we got there since the market looked dead but we were there too early. By 8pm the place was hopping on a Friday night. Can recommend.
This mercado is very nicely sourced. All are farm raised ingredients and they have freshly made food offerings. The vegetables and fruit are quite large and organic. The meats are well-packaged and beautifully displayed. #1 rated tortilla de patatas in Spain is at Casa de Dani, but try all other foods as well. They have a variety of ethnic restaurants including Mexican, Italian, Argentine, Mediterranean, and others. It is in the middle of the Salamanca district, surrounded by luxury retail stores, and it is a 10 minute walk to Retiro Park. A quick stop for a bite to eat here makes for a nice addition to any trip.
Award winning market for the original design and improved building looks, you can still see and appreciate the old arquitecture from the X century, great for buying your groceries, bread, cheese, fresh fish etc, with many restaurants and bars, I'm sorry to say but I prefer doing my shopping in this market then in the super famous la Boqueria.
Bought sandals, shoes, slippers for my son and lots of fruits and vegetables. They were really fresh and everything smelled so good. I will definitely make this one of my frequent stops
Nice place to walk around. Lots of food options, cooked and uncooked.

Great place for locals for grocery. Fresh food. Fish, meat and vegetables. We bought 3 fuet sausages for only 4 euro, very long sausages. Not a small cone for 8 euro like in the boqueria. Non touristic but still it offers a few places where to eat, sitting in thee terrace or take away food. Ready to be eaten at home. The square is lovely, with benches and playground. Plus 2 Ping pong tables.

After an afternoon of shopping nearby. We wanted some apps and beverages. Came across this little market. We went into Parilla Argentina. They had blood sausage, so ya boi had to go in.

Very cool little market with variety of restaurants and a butcher shop!

Go here!
Cool place to look around or to do weekend shopping.
All you need is there - high-quality meat, an amazing variety of seafood and shellfish, home-made bread, vegs and fruits. The stuff in the pictures was bought at the Mercat de la Llibertat
Must visit especially stand with olives at the end of the street. Decicious olives in good price!
Good selection and reasonable prices. Cheese place at the entry by the supermarket is top dollar and very friendly.

Wanted to get bread crumbs to make fried aubergine but the store does not sell bread crumbs. Migas de pan. Now you know.
For us, my wife and I, this is the only place to buy fresh fruit and veg. Some of these stall holders are themselves growers and many of them are at Benalua twice weekly, Thursday and Saturday mornings. In addition you will find other traders selling their wares, as in any other market setting.
Our favourite weekly fruit and veg shopping experience. No supermarket does produce as fresh and well priced as these guys. Still as good post Covid as pre Covid.
Small market with fresh products. Not so crowded like La Bouqeria. Very authentic. Wonderful experience of a local way to spend time and do shopping. Tasty and traditional tapas based on a fresh seafood. Must try with a “copa de cava”😁
I tried many foods and tapas here. Great place for food on the go, right next to the main pedestrian street going down to the sea coast.
