Very imposing and intricately carved
Situata lungo la strada che portava a Napoli, era utilizzata già durante i primi secoli di vita di Pompei. Gli edifici funerari oggi visibili sono databili a partire dal I secolo a.C. Le tombe monumentali illustrano le tipologie funerarie più diffuse dell’epoca. Tra queste, spiccano due tombe costituite da un sedile semicircolare in tufo, chiamato schola, dedicate dall’assemblea della città a cittadini illustri e meritevoli1. Una di queste conserva l’iscrizione a grandi lettere del proprietario della tomba, la sacerdotessa pubblica Mamia.

La statua é posta in un angolo luminoso della passeggiata del Pincio. Opera dello scultore Dazzi, é stata ivi collocata nella prima metà del '900, dopo la fine della Grande Guerra. Ritrae Enrico Toti che, ormai ferito a morte, scaglia la sua gruccia contro il nemico in un ultimo disperato tentativo di resistenza, senza darsi per vinto. Al di là della storia del Toti, che si può facilmente approfondire, mi voglio soffermare sul significato del personaggio qui rappresentato. Quando tutto sembra perduto, quando non sembra esserci speranza e si é da soli ad affrontare le avversità più tremende, l'unica azione valida, coraggiosa e sensata é quella di non arrendersi e continuare a combattere strenuamente. Non é possibile sapere come finirà, se si concluderà con una disfatta oppure se con tenacia riusciremo a risolvere la situazione, ma almeno, alla fine, potremo valorosamente affermare di averci provato con tutti noi stessi. Coraggio e forza!
La mia recente visita alla basilica di Traiano è stata un'esperienza davvero meravigliosa. Questa imponente basilica, un tempo la più grande di Roma, è situata nell'incantevole cornice del Foro Traiano ed è stata dedicata alla famiglia di Traiano. Nonostante non sia riuscito a visitarla internamente questa volta, ho fatto una promessa a me stesso di farlo nella prossima visita. L'architettura maestosa e la storia che avvolge questa basilica mi hanno affascinato, e non vedo l'ora di esplorarla più a fondo per scoprire tutti i suoi segreti e la sua bellezza.
Spanish steps are one of the most famous stairs in the world, so you definitely can't miss them while in Rome. In front of the steps is Rome's luxury street (street full of luxury brand stores). This monument wasn't as crowded as one would have expected, you may be even able to take a photo without people everywhere around you (this won't happen at other Rome's monuments). Keep in mind that it's prohibited to sit on the stairs.
I thought this was interesting and neat to see! I got the combo tickets that bundled the leaning tower tickets and a bunch of other attractions here. The inside of this building was quite impressive, and there was a lot of impressive stone work, and wall paintings. Great to walk through, but I recommend budling this with the leaning tower!
Just walk in and enjoy the view. We had no line or so whatever and took our time inspecting this price of art. Would recommend a little bit of research beforehand for getting a better understanding of the overall approach of Michelangelo.

it wasn’t super crowded when I visited it last Thursday at 9:00 am. it was so beautiful and we took so many pictures. the fountain had roses thrown in it, not a very polite behavior of whoever threw them, but honestly it made it more aesthetic lol.

This is very detailed. Easy to see and I suggest spending some time looking at the detail.
Nice place, not exactly the stairs but whole place. You can see lots of nice buildings. There is also Subway on the top of the stairs and you can use elevator.
The only one was disadvantage was so many people everywhere but it was not that horrible.

A nice view of the Piazza, and the building at the top of the stairs. I would recommend driving early (if you want privacy), or during sunset (great view from the top).
Be careful about sitting around the stairs, there are police that patrol and tell people to get off.

The Spanish steps is close to the fountain trevi, so we headed here to take some photos. Photos can’t do this place justice, it’s something in the air that makes this place stand out. Imagine this, as you walk along the stone path in Rome, you come to see a gigantic stepped piazza, and a lot of locals and foreigners all decided to hang around the steps to enjoy a good day. I guess that pretty much sums up my experience here in the Spanish steps, definitely pay this place a visit, preferably in the evening when the city wakes up.

A masterwork from the mind of Michelangelo. The work depicts the moment Moses descends the mountain where god imparts the second set of commandments on the stone tablets. The tension and the passions are captured within the stone in a way that transcends the medium. Two examples of religious devotion accompany Moses, being represented by two women; the left woman being the contemplative life and the right being the life of pious action. If you're insterested in art or specifically in Michelangelo, this work is not to be missed.
Incredible building. The space has to be experienced. Like other Roman structures in the city it has been preserved by virtue of becoming a church. There are snippets of the Roman construction in amongst the ecclesiastical opulence and not much information about the pagan heritage of the building is freely available. We did not get audio guides however.
The website did not work and getting advance tickets at the admission price of 5.5 euros was impossible. We paid double but had to pick up tickets from the piazza Navona or wait in a long queue in the sun.

The statue of Marcus Aurelius on horseback is a Roman statue on Capitoline Hill. It is made of bronze. The original is in the museum. The copy has been standing here for over 40 years.
This was also a brilliant sight. There was a long long queue for entry and somehow it seems that the queue for the on-spot ticket moved rather faster than the queue for the online ticket.However once inside it was a sight to behold. You would be seeing the ‘gods rays’ and it would be a sight to behold
So much history. Worth the wait. Check out the drain holes near the center, the building never flooded even in heavy rain. Absolute marvel. Get there early
The Column of Aurelius stands on the Piazza Colonna in Rome, The column with a spiral relief was built to honor the victories of the emperor Marcus Aurelius. Extraordinary. It's a shame you can't see the relief up close.
Beautiful. Very busy but well controlled queues even though long. TOP TIP: buy tickets in advance and to do this subscribe to Pantheon official website and buy tickets directly from them. It's so much cheaper and you can pick your own time slot. My husband and I arrived at the Pantheon then walked the short distance to Piazza Navona Square and sat in one of the many cafes and then purchased our tickets. We enjoyed the whole atmosphere and even got to hear the bells Chime at 12 noon. We then made our way to the Pantheon for our 1-130pm time slot, walking straight in !!! Its beautiful and very calm inside where you can take in the breathtaking paintings and statues and sheer size of it. Amazing place.
Well, it's 5€ each to get in, so we went in as we thought it was cheap. It's an impressive building and nice to look at, but unless you're really interested in the history, then there isn't much to do. We spent about 5/10 minutes in there.

Great statue of a man of even greater spirit. I appreciate this statue to honor Marcus Aurelius and his deeds - not least of which is writing of the greatest books known to man, his Meditations.

Visited in January this year but went during the evening and there was a service going on inside so couldn't get in.
Visited again in April during the morning and got entry. As of 03/07/23 there is a €5 euro entry fee. You get given a handheld device for the audio guided tour and there are 16 points. You can explore each part in order.

Thrilling to see this much talked about statue of Moses by Michelangelo. Michelangelo's misinterpertation of the Hebrew word for "aura" resulted in the infamous horns :(
They now charge you €5 compared to free of charge earlier and it's a huge queue, so would recommend booking in advance. The architecture is amazing and the monument is worth visiting. It's one of the oldest and still intact structures

This often overlooked Michelangelo sculpture is magnificent. You can easily get up to the railing for a closer look. Don’t forget to see Peter’s chains from his imprisonment in Jerusalem
Beautiful church! The sculpture is so detailed. It is amazing to just pause and look at.
Wish there was a plaque or something interpreting what some of the carvings meant. Was neat to see, but cars were parked all around and police station near, so not as scenic. Still, I'm glad we found it and I saw it.

Beautiful grand hall full of big paintings and the chains of Petrus under the altare. The painting of the ceiling is massive and very colourful. The Statue of Mode from Michelangelo is now over 500years old and still looks stunning! IT pictures the Moment where He came down from the mountain of Sinai with the 10 commandments and sees the pilgrims honouring a golden Statue.
We came upon this place by chance. It was one of our best surprise in Rome. The painting and sculptures were beautiful and the energy of the place was one of calm, peace and relaxation. It is close to the collossium not too far a walk. If enter via Cavour there are many steps to climb so be mindful.

Less well known than some of the more popular sites in Rome but no less impressive, Mose Di Michaelangelo is an exquisite monument featuring the sculpture of Moses as imagined with "horns". It's not very crowded so it'll definitely let you take the time to appreciate the artistry.
Standing tall in the Piazza del Campidoglio, this equestrian statue depicts the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius who ruled from 161 to 180 AD. He was the last emperor of the Pax Romana.
Striking how this city was constructed. Sewage drainage, structures in tact for over 2000 years, many frescos still visible. The ash preserved a large portion of Pompeii. Traveler Note: not for the weaker ankles. Wear hiking boots w rubber soles if your ankles are weak. Majority of this site is walking on rounded stones. See pics.

Goethe has been impressed by Italy and Rome in particular , the influence of his stay here had significantly influenced his writing and life. I am glad to see that he is remembered through this statue
I’m a huge Goethe fan, so for me personally this was amazing to see. If you’re lucky you can park right in front of the statue.

Il soldato italiano, nudo come si conviene agli eroi, già colpito a morte, scaglia verso il nemico la gruccia.
I Romani, che non perdono occasione di sbeffeggiare tutti, hanno visto in quel gesto la volontà di Enrico Toti di abbattere con il lancio della sua stampella uno strano marchingegno ubicato a poca distanza. Si tratta di un orologio assai curioso che, come per magia, non ha bisogno di essere caricato: è un orologio ad acqua.
I Romani, che non perdono occasione di sbeffeggiare tutti, hanno visto in quel gesto la volontà di Enrico Toti di abbattere con il lancio della sua stampella uno strano marchingegno ubicato a poca distanza. Si tratta di un orologio assai curioso che, come per magia, non ha bisogno di essere caricato: è un orologio ad acqua.
Questa statua in bronzo raffigurante uno degli eroi della Grande Guerra è posizionata in uno dei punti più belli e visibili del Giardino del Pincio. Realizzata dallo scultore dell'epoca Arturo Dazzi e posata in questa posizione nella prima metà del 'Novecento, pochi anni dopo la fine della guerra è arrivata a noi mantenendo ancora intatto il suo fascino e il suo significato.

I found this amazing monument of Wolfgang Goethe near Casa del Cinema. Thanks to Google map and Google local guide. When I walked toward to Casa del Cinema, I saw the name of Goethe in the smartphone google map and realized the monument of him. It's a beautiful statue. Even I came from the Casa di Goethe Museum near Piazza del Popolo. Lucky day.

Wunderschöne Statue von Goethe, die wir auf den Weg nach Villa Borghese gefunden haben. Sieht echt toll aus.
Achtung! Nicht verwechseln mit dem Nationalmuseum nahe der Piazza Republica! Die Front am Corso Vitt. Emanuele II. folgt dem ehemaligen Verlauf des Domitian-Stadions und wurde nach 6 eng stehenden dorischen Säulen vor der Front benannt. Hier hatten übrigens 2 Deutsche in der Renaissance die 1. Druckerei in Italien. Heute nicht zugänglich.
Un incredibile statua di un bersaglieri romano sul punto di morte, dove come suo ultimo atto lancia una parte dell' arma contro il nemico durante la prima guerra mondiale. Un monumento che fa pensare ed ammirare il coraggio di un grande italiano.

This private palazzo contains a church, declared to be one and not a chapel by papal decree in 1839. It's dedicated to St Philip Neri, and is open to the public on only one day a year -on 16 March. Allegedly the saint had a brief conversation with a dead son of the family, whose body had been laid out in this room on this date in 1583.

It was alreet
