Nurse Caitlin was by far the worst nurse I'd ever encountered
The WORST ER experience ever! Over 7 hours just to get into a room and then it was “double booked” by accident and had to wait another 30-40 minutes. Rude check in staff. Once in a room I waited another 2 hours just to see a doctor. The nurse was so rude and unhelpful. I had to holler out to someone in the hallway just to reach my call button. I was moved again and finally got a nurse that was kind and capable. All of the doctors told me something different. No one was on the same page, and I left with nothing they promised. What a joke. Everything about my over 24 hour stay was horrible and added to my stress and impacted my health. I’ll go to St Joe’s from now on where care is much better.
We went to uga as a referral from our vet, we aren’t local. Went in for a specialist visit, thought it would be more of a check up. They ended up keeping our dog the night and did a procedure the next day. There was no fluid in his lungs before his procedure, we got a call that he was in critical care because there was now fluid in his lungs. We had to put him down after they put him on oxygen and he couldn’t breathe on his own. We now have an astronomical bill to pay for them killing our baby boy, he was only 5. We are more than heartbroken. I do not believe they did their best, something happened in between him being fine and coming home the next day, to him never coming home.
I graduated from UGA Veterinary College in 1975. It was the most wonderful experience of my life. I practiced with dogs and cats for 42 years before retirement. I miss practice so much.
Thank you, UGA
My sweet baby Ziva fell ill with Pyometra. I took her to UGA on her vets recommendation. They took SUCH GREAT care of her from the minute we walked in til the minute we walked out. The doctors that cared for her were so loving, kind and they cared thru all my tears. She is home now and it wouldn't have been possible without UGA.
Watt else can i say except they hav helped me so much this past year. The staff Is amazing & kind for anything yu need..
If you’re in pain, go ANYWHERE but UofM ER. They won’t treat you for pain unless your bone is protruding through your skin. And they might not even do that.
Ama,ing facilities and top notch doctors/nurses/staff. We were there for. Very scary issue but the staff from front desk to specialists all treated us with respect and compassion
When almost everyone else is closed for Labor Day, they were here working hard. I got in, my cat was seen immediately (it was an emergency) and everyone was very kind, caring and compassionate.

My cat wouldn’t urinate, which can be quickly fatal, and they took her in as soon I got there and started checking her out. She ended up being fine thankfully, but had it been a real emergency, I could tell she was in great hands.

So thankful for them doing what they do.
I watched my baby deteriorate before my eyes. I begged them on the phone to give any sort of advice to keep him alive until the morning, because they didnt have anyone available to treat him. 24 hours service does not mean all animals. The woman i spoke to was so cruel. She does not have an ounce of humanity in her heart, for animals or humans. She would not even provide numbers for other clinics, she suggested i google them. I spent hours trying to look up other clinics while googling cpr/resuscitation for my baby. All the clinics I called directed me back to this one. I cannot speak for everyone, but there is one bad person working there who had a 6/22/22 shift at 12:30 in the morning. She seemed like she didnt feel like working, and that is not an employee that should be working a shift at a 24 hour emergency clinic.
Very bad emergencies, they have no mercy, they treat patients like animals, you must do something. The thing is it is not permissible for people of old age to seek help, nor to anyone who comes to him. I fainted. They left me and did not help me
I cannot say enough good things about the cardiology department. Dr. Toborowski and the vet student, Alissa, who cared for my dog were extremely thorough, professional, and compassionate. Although they are very busy, I truly felt that my pup received the very best care and was their utmost priority. I had lots of questions and they were very patient in answering everything, and have called to keep a check on him. So so thankful that we were able to get in to see them. Well worth the drive and the expensive prices (but that is to be expected with a specialist). I will say that I was not as pleased with the emergency department, the receptionists were not very friendly or caring. But Dr. Toborowski is top notch and truly cares about what he does.
I called about my parakeet that had been in a tussle with a cat. She seemed fine and I couldn’t see any injuries, but it’s standard practice to still administer antibiotics even if there are no injuries seen, because the tiniest scratch from a cat can kill a bird due to the bacteria they carry. I explained this to the person who picked up the phone, and was told that even if I brought her the 3 1/2 hours up there, if they didn’t see a wound, they wouldn’t give me the antibiotics (which by the way I could easily buy online without a prescription, I just didn’t have time to wait for it to be delivered). Then I was told it would be $240 JUST TO EXAMINE HER. That is absolutely outrageous, especially for a clinic that uses students. And there would be additional fees for any tests she might need. I had just told this person exactly what I needed, exactly what the issue was. There was nothing she needed to be tested for. I’m glad I decided not to go here, because based on my experience and other reviews I’ve read, they probably would have kept suggesting expensive, useless tests, and when I said I couldn’t afford it, I would be told to put her down. It’s sad that this is the only place in Georgia that has an avian vet available after normal hours.
This is a beautiful building with plenty of seating for students. The library is a perfect study area with assistance available if needed.
Everything about this place feels cold. Don’t bring your pet here if you’re short on funds. We took our cat to another vet after paying nearly $300 here for various tests and vaccines. Out of curiosity, we had our other vet quote the same procedures - they were 1/4 the cost! They said UGA is way over charging.

I would assume that a teaching hospital would be better on the wallet but it’s NOT and they will not help you or make recommendations if you can’t pay everything they ask. The girl that called me to explain things about my pet knew very little and could not answer my questions, just tried to get me to pay more and more.

I received an email about 2 days after the visit detailing issues with my pet. It was comprehensive, but again, cold. Empathy doesn’t appear to exist here in any way. My other vet takes the time to explain things to your face and speaks with you like a human being!!

I’m giving 2 stars, because we were given some recommendations about treatment and a lot of food for our cat. But for the price we paid, I don’t feel that it was worth it at all.

Based on my experience...I will avoid from now on!
The College of Pharmacy has a nice little library/study room for those who look for different places to work in the campus. It is quite and comfortable. You can find a little coffee/ice cream place right across the building, which is also nice to spend some time in good weather. Also, the Trial Gardens, which is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the campus, is also right next to the college of pharmacy.
I couldn't be happier with my experience on Tuesday morning. I was in the ER all day and the doctors, nurses, technicians and registrar, etc. truly went above to make me feel like I was being cared for and they went the extra yard to make sure my bases were covered. I left feeling much better late that evening and I have a referral for a specialist. The ER department had someone call me the following day to set up an appointment with the specialist. I'm glad I drove the hour for the treatment at UofM!!
PH for life
Doctors are great and knowledgeable. Easy to make appointments online and are accommodating if you are sick and need to make an appointment within 24 hours.
Showed up in extreme pain. Was having tonic spasms (total body) every 5 minutes. They looked at the MRIs of my thoracic and brain from previous hospitals. Based on those, they told me I had a functional disorder and should see a psychiatrist. I thought UM would help me. The next dr I saw out of Providence looked at my symptoms and knew within minutes the problem was in my cervical spine. I had 3 lesions. Was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. I am wondering why UM would not investigate my whole central nervous system. How exactly would a psychiatrist help me with Transverse Myelitis? I would stay away from UM for neurological issues. A disappointing waste of time. BTW, I hold 2 UM degrees.
