If you spend a total of 4 years at jmu… you will spend over 2k alone on parking… excluding the parking tickets you will get at least once with your time here. Paying for a parking ticket takes seconds and appealing can take up to half an hour. There is no mercy or grace. On top of everything, good luck finding parking. College is the only business in the world that flat out scams you in front of your face, and you can’t do anything about it.
Most useless, unreasonable, and negative department at JMU. 300 dollar parking permit gives you access to 1 lot within a mile of any quad classes.
Front desk and staff is rude and they don't really help you.
They make me physically upset. I pay for parking, but because I'm paying even more for on campus living and inedible food, I don't get to park where I want on campus. Only in rESidEnT LoTs. In addition to the overkill of allotment to faculty parking. If only the busses weren't terrible and actually reliable to getting me there on time.
Got a ticket after leaving my car in the R1 lot where it says commuter parking 3pm friday to 7am monday. Got a ticket 9:23am Monday which sure is my fault, except I was puking my guts out due to everyone on my floor getting a stomach bug. I was told if I park there again as a freshman they’ll give me a ticket EVEN DURING COMMUTER PARKING DAYS.
Absolute worst parking experience I've ever had in my entire life. The JMU parking services is predatory. $160 for a residential parking pass? Only to not be able to use it anywhere on campus unless I want to walk 20 minutes? It's absolutely disgusting.
The insurance is in network, however, the dumb insurance has a referral (25 miles restriction). And I have to make a call or email to SHS, they never pick up my call and the email address does not work anytime. Terrible customer service and experience
Extremely strict parking restrictions. I paid for a spot with my own money that was provided by park mobile. It was set for about 45 minutes, however I was running about 5 minutes late. I get to my car and see that they gave me a ticket for being 5 minutes over my scheduled time?! I was the only car parked there and there were about 8 open spaces next to me. JMUs parking services know that they can do this primarily because these students will pay. I tried to get my citation appealed but they denied it.

After all, the “P” in JMU stands for parking.
Only ever had great experiences here. Everyone was kind, courteous, and patient with me. Top notch care and advice from my RN, John. Took his time to speak with me about any and all concerns, walked with me when handing me off to testing or referrals, and even followed up with links for more information on some of my questions. Highly recommend!
Receptionists are rude and they never have appointments. When you do get appointments the doctors/nurses are not comprehensive. I had a virus (tested negative for covid) but they wouldn’t do any further tests and told me to go home and treat over the counter which already hadn’t been working for me. On another occasion I had a gynecological issue and they kept directing me to a telehealth nurse and I had to beg to be seen in person. It’s a shame that students have to pay so much money for terrible health care services.

Bruh. I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds. JMU's parking services are ridiculously predatory and they just want to shake students down for money. They denied my appeal for an unreasonable ticket- I was forced to park in a commuter lot since the resident lots were full and I had to get to class. Why do residents have such little parking compared to staff and commuters when we pay the most for our permits? In conclusion: >:(

Since a collection of brilliant individuals at James Madison University decided I only need 53 seconds to get from my online class at home to my on campus class with no bus routes scheduled, I appreciate being charged $100 to park in an empty parking lot for 50 minutes. The part I am especially enthused by is the charge of $100. It is reasonable to expect a charge of 25, maybe even 50 dollars from a college student paying $20,000 annually to this school. $100, however, makes it clear that the true goal of parking services has nothing to do with allowing fair parking regulation. This creates a beautifully artistic allusion to how awful this school is in all other respects.
It was a fine experience. Check in was quick and no-contact, staff was friendly and helpful. Overall I would highly recommend if you are a student or staff member. I would just check to see if they take your insurance first before arriving.
I love SHS, aside from corona, they’re always so helpful, warm, & sensitive to student issues. also as a student (and previously living w my parents and having minimal experiences being an adult) there are no co-pays and they’re pretty understanding.
I was in the office of a dermatologist I've seen for a long time, waiting to be called in by the nurse. The doctor was in-network. I ultimately had to cancel my appointment because I had to drive 25 miles back into the city to get a referral (in person) from the SHS office (they wouldn't let me do it over the phone). How does this help the customer!?!?! If I had known I had to do this every time I would have gotten different insurance. Pushed out my appointment by 2 months to remove some possibly cancerous moles. Exactly what I want from my insurance provider /sarcasm.
There is a cool little museum at GW. There was interesting Japanese art on display.

The elevators are small and slow. Other than that, each classroom is small in size and have comfortable chairs.
I appreciate your university & I want to have correspondence with you
Course offerings are very good; faculty and staff are very good; and general vibe is very good.
Excellent faculty. Outstanding and very practical subjects. As a graduate of SIS: five stars!

I was in SPA but love the SIS course offerings and the new building is a modern marvel and is finally disability accessible
