What a hidden gem in Wicker Park! YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS PLACE! The food was so bomb: Kashke Bademjan (Persian Mashed Eggplants), Zereshk Polo Morgh (Barberry Rice with Chicken), Lamb Kabob Plate, Persian Yogurt (with mint), Persian tea, and Persian ice cream! We emptied every single item! Also, we were fully immersed in its culturally rich atmosphere. It has a family-like vibe and it's beautifully decorated with lots of Persian arts and crafts. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. Price is awesome! Wow! REAL cool and unique restaurant!!

If you love ethnic food or want to go on a food adventure, this is a must-visit joint. We will be back again!

Lamb chenjeh was good, but the Koobideh not! The restaurant owner was very polite and friendly, brought us Tahdig and didn’t charge. The tea kettle was so big enough for you to have bunch of teas after your meal while talking 😄 and it was not pricey which was impressive for me. He is very hospitable. I just wish there were played happy persian musics as well as the sad ones.

Food was Delicious! The lamb was fantastically cooked and tasted amazing. Barg (thin marinated ribeye steak) was tender and flavorful. Shrimp were delicately charred. Persian salad reminded me of cucumber salad a bit, little strong on the onion, it was an experience. The environment was well. The staff was attentive even the manager came by and spoke with us and refilled our drinks.
We came from out of town for a event and couldn't ever remember trying Persian food before. Glad this was my first experience with it.

Great persian food and amazing hospitality from a very kind crew. The owner seems to check in with everyone to guarantee their satisfaction. For examples, he offerd tahdig and tea to compliment our great meal and experience. I really liked their Barg kabab.

The staff at Caspian are exceptionally warm and friendly, and many of their dish flavors are wonderful and distinct. The prices are a little high, but reasonable overall. I came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends, and the staff were kind, inviting, and offered to store the cake in the fridge for us. While it was pretty empty on a Tuesday night, the interior is beautifully and intricately decorated, making for a very homey and comfortable atmosphere. My group of 7 shared everything family-style.

For appetizers, we got the Fried Calamari and Kookoo Sabzi, and also got complimentary pita bread though it was a bit too dry and lacking flavor. The calamari was decent, though a bit too soggy and not crispy enough, and the Kookoo Sabzi had a spongey texture and mild taste.

For entrees, we tried the following (**= especially recommend):

- Kabob Platter for Two**: The grilled meats on this platter were absolutely delicious— exceptionally tender, juicy; rich and robust in flavor.

- Vegetarian Combo: I liked their hummus and baba ganoush; the flavors are strong and earthy.

- Zereshk Polo with Chicken**: The chicken was again cooked excellently: it was juicy, tender, and very flavorful in the sauce.

- Dizi Stew: A multi-stepped, resourceful dish with many components— our server showed us how to make / grind up the stew to both eat and drink. The flavors were rich and earthy, though the price was a little steep for the portion size.

We also tried the Dough yogurt drink, which is definitely more of an acquired taste, as it’s very sour, but quite good. Many thanks to the wonderful staff for their attentiveness and hospitality, and for making my birthday dinner feel fun and special! I’ll definitely be back in the future, especially for their richly flavored grilled meat dishes, which took the prize for me as some of the highlights of the meal.

It is a great place to share Persian food with your friends and families. Highly recommend their kebobs. They are very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Satisfied with everything we ordered.

It's just an awesome, cozy place in Wicker Park on Ashland Ave. The atmosphere is full of ambiance and decor from the old country. There is a nice stocked bar with seating as you enter, and you cascade down the steps into the dining area.

The owner, Mazoud, is really nice and laid back. He prepares fresh and authentic dishes with eloquence and meticulous precision. There is a lamb dish that he prepares at the table for you. Every bite is succulent and delicious. He really loves and cares about his patrons, and of course his restaurant, and especially the food. He can recommend and point you in the right palatable direction.

Definitely recommend trying Persian here if you haven't or have before. Nice experience. You won't be disappointed!
