It's a good bridge that keeps the trains dry as they go across the river. I often sit in the park and try to use my mind to make the trains go backwards. It worked the one time but the guy on the train yelled at me so I had to stop.

I love watching Canada Pacific here, especially when it's 146, 147, 148, 149, 444, 445. 242, 243, J42, J17, J21, 540, 541, 576, 577, 644, 645, 340, 341, 342, 343, 345, 346, 348, 349, 350

Very cool railroad bridge to take pictures of, but it is to be respected as it's still very much an active train bridge.

As I write this the bridge is labelled the "Great Northern Bridge." This is completely wrong, it is the Soo Line bridge, now operated by Canadian Pacific. It was never a Great Northern bridge. It is a great historical piece of Minneapolis history, a city all too happy to destroy its historic roadway bridges.

This bridge was originally constructed in 1905 and is the main line crossing of the Mississippi River for the Canadian Pacific Railway transcontinental (Soo Line Railroad) line.
