I walked in here in the middle of a busy morning and these folks made my day! Truly so friendly and upbeat, it would’ve been impossible to leave here in a bad mood. Also had a great selection of snacks, and the coffee was on point.

Union Kitchen, just so you know, your matcha is sweetened. I love being told it was unsweetened, spending $8.00, just to throw it away. Also, get 2% milk. Not that I will be back.

This is a gem. Service is impeccable and always comes with a smile. Great team and great food! It should be the Cheers Kitchen because everyone knows you and your sandwich name!

I want to like this place but it's kind of absurd how much they mark up grocery items. Buying a single bottle of beer there is bar prices minus the service. A pint of Ben and Jerry's is about $10.

And it kinda irks me for about the past 2ish years they've had a price posted for a product that haven't actually carried in a very long time. A 21 oz Sapporo listed at 4.99, a reasonable price. Today I bought an 11 oz asahi stuck in that slot thinking it would at least be somewhat similar in price. Nope, 5.50 for half the quantity. Update your price stickers! Any other grocery store would do that weekly or more, not let it be flat out false for 2 years. What are you doing with all this markup if you can't even be bothered to keep your items marked properly? Feels intentionally deceptive after all this time.

First-Time Experience!! Everything about my experience was perfect. It's super eclectic! I love the healthy snacks, views, and people! Customer service was outstanding, too! I was so hungry, so I went with the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich. I replaced the onions with cucumbers. Let me just say: This sandwich is so yummy! I love the fresh baked goods, as well.

The staff were generous and kind. I will definitely be going back.

Thank You to Lorenzo and Tyrone! Just look at the details of this delicious veggie bagel authentically crafted by the Lorenzo Da Vinci.

Tyrone is also genuine and has great positive energy as well. He literally turned my frown upside down. That's a real skill.

I appreciate the love when I walk in and always find myself laughing when I leave. Thank You for always shining bright like a diamond and blessing us with both of your presence. Real Angels in this place!

Starting out as a food incubator for local makers out of Ivy City, Union Kitchen now runs six small grocery stores across the area. The Eckington location is the newest one, which opened on October 19, 2021. Here's what you should know:

1) Products: Many of the its products are from local makers from D.C., Virginia, Maryland and a few other nearby states. However, you can still find goods from big brands as displayed in their candy bar selection (Snickers, Mars, etc.). They have a long row of wines, a fridge full of beer, cider, etc. and lots of ice cream in the back. For most munchies, it has it all!

2) Cafe: There's a cafe inside that brews Compass Coffee (a local brand) and breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their sausage and egg sandwich is very flavorful and filling.

3) Space: It's laid out well and has an industrial feel to it. There's a mural inside from a local artist.

4) Parking: In the mornings, there's usually paid parking spots open out front or just down the road. I've never had a problem finding a spot!
