Great collection of paintings, weapons, and other artifacts. Audiotour was very good and easy to use. The ship is very kid friendly. Would be great for groups. Cafe is also very reasonably.

Amazing experience for adults or children. Super interesting stories, great temporary exhibitons and the chance to see the royal boat and visit the real replica of the Amsterdam boat which sank a long time ago in Texel. I can’t recommend more :)

Very interesting place, 3 floor.
Beautiful hall with panoramic roof .
Cute cafe in the hall of the building.
A lot of things about ships and boats from hundreds of years.
And of course, a separate place of art is the big old boat outside of the building..
My recommendations to visit 👍

Among the most beautiful buildings in Amsterdam is certainly The National Maritime Museum, near the Nemo Museum. A beautiful ship is anchored in front of the museum. Just like the building itself, which is very beautiful, the ship is also a real work of art. During the time we were in Amsterdam, records for visitors to this museum were falling.

The building and location of the museum are stunning. Architecturally wise I really enjoyed the museum, the inside court is beautiful with the dome.
However the exhibitions are quite small, we visited maybe 4 small rooms that were very nice and interesting but not enough… the cost of the ticket is 17,5 EUR, I would have expect to see more rooms with far more information. It’s a pity and we were disappointed.
You can visit the big ship outside which is one of the best part for me, however there was no audio for adults available. We had higher expectations for this museum, I would suggest checking website to see what is currently displayed and asking for directions to find the rooms size the building is huge a with many stair cases but the directions of the visits is not very well explained.
Library and shop are very nice.
I would recommend to get a discount card that includes this museum and visiting on a sunny day as they have a beautiful outside deck with long chairs to have a nice break after the visit.

It is a fantastic museum and a fine example of maritime heritage preservation. I suggest this museum on a rainy day as it's mostly indoors and takes several hours.

The outdoor ship is great to explore and gives a glimpse of life back then. The indoor exhibits are detailed, well-kept, and informative. I especially like the 'curiosity' section. You can get a free audio guide.

The building itself is cool to explore, and there is a nice cafe, locker, and toilets.

If I remember entry, it was around 10 euros.
Love this place... if you are a fan of nautical stuff plan at least 4... preferably 6 hours for the visit. Cool thing is that your ticket is valid for a whole day - they issue an entry bracelet and visitors can leave the museum to have some food and come back. Highly reccomend.
