Prague is a marvellous city, though with slightly too many tattoo and massage parlours catering to stag parties, but what it could really use is some sandblasting. Every statue and monument is caked in black soot - London used to look like this in the 1970s. If the Prague authorities just scrubbed the place up a bit it would look as beautiful as Paris, and be a huge plus for tourism... Not that Prague needs more tourists!

This statue was in Prague Old Town Square, but it wasn't easy to see due to the Christmas market and the crowds of people. However, the atmosphere and smells of the market were brilliant.
The statue of Charles IV at the old town end of Charles Bridge. A nice historical monument. It is not very big or important when compared to the other things in Prague but nice to see.
I recommend visiting this place. It was less crowded than the Astronomical Clock Tower. Although there wasn't much to see, I think it's a nice spot if the weather is good.
Really great experience for £6.50 admission fee. Can get right up to the top and walk around and see Prague in all its glory!

Really nice view of prague. The stairway is really narrow and longer than you think,but the view made it worth it.

No worries on weekdays. You can enter at any time due to the schedule. Or just walk around and enjoy the scenery.
Belle tour, les marches sont étroites, attention. La vie est haut est jolie mais sans plus. 380KC pour 2, 15€ à peu près.
Such an underrated spot! The ticket booth is located on the sidewalk on the north side of the tower. They also offer tickets bundled for other historical attractions around town. Cash and card is accepted. There are two floor of the tower and then the roof terrace and attic. Your ticket will be checked in the first floor. The staircase leading up is barely wide enough for people to pass so be careful. There are exhibits on each floor, but you're probably going up for the view at the top. Go at sunset for the best views! Tripods aren't allowed, but you're able to rest a camera on the ledges at each window. It's probably the best view in the city.

Would recommend booking tickets in advance as we went in the morning and the first availability was for 12:30pm. It is a guided tour which talks you through the history. You cannot enter the library, you can only stand at the door and take a picture. You then make your way to the top of the tower for the viewpoint. Tour took around an hour from start to finish and began promptly.
We visited the Old Town Hall on March 27. On Mondays it is open later than the other days. You have the choice of a guided tour or a visit at your own pace.
On top of the building you have a nice view over the city. It's up to you whether you pay for the elevator or take the stairs.

This was one of the first towers we visited during our stay in Prague. There's a very steep set of stairs to the first floor and most of the history of the tower is here too, along with a knowledgeable guide. The view isn't the best in the city since it is surrounded by quite tall buildings but it's a good place to visit with some interesting history.
Museum multimedia life in the times of Charles iv and animated Prague etching from 1600’s. We worth a browse. Heavy on church construction but still contains many fascinating insights.

Din't do my homework before going in,i was hoping to walk around the library,but only got chance to obseve it from special area,still worth it.Tours are guised,so i recommend to buy ticket online,i had to buy tour in Chech language,becouse for the next english one i had to wait for 2 hours,some narrow staircases,so few older people,could't reach the top,so before going you should estimate your chances.
This is a hidden gem for those who interested in learning about Prague and Charles IV. It closes every Monday. The front door might be closed and doesn’t seem welcoming just open the door yourself. There are not many people at all during my visit, but it’s very a nice museum to visit with using techs and interactive approach, I love the staffs here they are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
A stunning library, really worth seeing.
You have to go on a tour to see it, there’s no other way.
If you have vertigo, it’s challenging. There are small spiral staircases to take you to the 2nd floor- to see the library, and then wooden straight staircases as you start to go up into the tower. I made it up to the first one of these, to see the meridian line, but chose not to go further.
The tour guide (in English) was excellent, she was so knowledgeable, and generous with time, making sure everyone had had enough time to see the library before going on.
Even without the view from the top of the tower it was well worth the money.

I loved climbing up the stairs of the building and the tower seeing all the amazing paintings and interims design. And the view from the top was beautiful! If you’re in Prague you definitely have to check this out. A little pricey, but at least that means it doesn’t get too swamped.
Very nice and calm museum, a bit hidden away which is why I guess it isn't packed. They make good use of relatively new technologies to display the past. The exhibition about Charles IV had some very well done videos and there were two city models where they used a laser projector to step by step explain how the city of Prague grew during the middle ages, which was very cool!
Worth to visit. Especially with morning discount. Great view from the tower. Library is wow, but you are not allowed to enter inside it, only to watch from the door corner
One of the best museum in Prague. It's really cheap in comparison at how much you can see. Perfect for families: children's activities are many and various.

I loved this place at least going up the tower where you can have 360 view of the city and also at the square. There is a ticket for the exhibits and the tower.

Beautiful views! Nice landings in between stairs to get a little break with some nice pieces to look at.
The stairs are very steep so be careful. I wish they had better signage/or more employees as when I went people went into wrong stairwells going up/down leading to panic as people tried to get around one another in the steep narrow stairwells - one person nearly fell! So be careful - but the views are worth it!

Extensive museum in restored medieval houses near the Tyn Church. Great introduction to life in the reigh of Charles IV & medieval Prague. Very inventive graphics & videos with artefacts & information in Czech & English 🇨🇿
Great views here at the New Town end of the King Charles bridge. Excellent meeting place too. We did a Charles Bridge and Prague Castle tour from here.
Excellent food, good location
A lovely clock from the outside, but I would definitely recommend buying tickets for the tour inside and to go up the tower: the view is gorgeous. The tour includes access to view the mechanism inside of the clock as well as the underground rooms beneath the town hall and is well worth the money. When ascending the tower you can pay extra to take the lift, but I wouldn't bother as there is a spiral ramp as opposed to stairs which isn't particularly challenging or lengthy to climb. You can buy tickets on the third floor but may need to come back another day for your tour, as they book up quite quickly.
Beautiful design of the clock, make sure to go inside the building , and clock chimes every 5 minute before an hour . if you're inside you can watch the characters taking their turn to move . It does cost some money and a pamphlet is recommended so you know what is going on in each room for its history . Make sure to visit the tower as you get a good view of the town square even prague itself

The view is breathtaking on top of the tower! The ancient library was gorgeous! But it will be closed starting Jan 1 2023 permanently! Hopefully it will reopen to public one day again in the future!
We bought tickets to go up the tower and to take a guided tour through the town hall buildings and basements. We weren't originally planning on the tour but we're SO glad we did. The view from the tower was great, and the information during the tour helped us better understand and appreciate the architecture in the city! Highly recommend.

Michal), alla quale era annessa. All’inizio del XV secolo si trovava qui una cappella con la volta reticolata gotica, nella cui parte superiore fu rinvenuta una pittura murale dell’inizio del XV secolo raffigurante S. Procopio (sv. Prokop), S. Adalberto e S. Vito (sv. Vojtěch a sv. Vít), la quale fu rimossa, restaurata da František Sequens e conservata nel Museo della Città di Praga (Muzeum hl. m. Prahy). Nel 1594 c’erano già testimonianze di una casa più grande che sorgeva nello stesso luogo, nota dal 1684 come Casa all’Angelo e, dal 1726, come Casa all’Angelo Nero. Nella prima metà del XVIII secolo fu radicalmente rimaneggiata in stile barocco. A questa casa a due piani fu aggiunto il piano mansarda nel 1887. Sul lato sinistro della casa si trovava una viuzza che portava alla chiesa di S. Michele. Dopo l’abolizione della chiesa durante il periodo di Giuseppe II, la viuzza fu chiusa. Worthwhile to pay a visit as to see one of ancient libraries in Europe and also get to a tower top for bird eye views on Prague surrounding. It’s not cheap but acceptable. Problem was, as it says the guide tour has max 25 people but today we ended up having a late guide as well as having more than 40 people in the batch that made the quality of tour not as ideal. Also the reception was rude and impatient, not what it supposed to be as an important spot in this tourist city.

As two archeologists we loved every minute of it and learned so much.
If you are looking for a place to learn about the history of Prague with great visual models and archeological artifacts and wonderful multimedia map of Prague this is the place!
And the staff are very kind and willing to help.

When we found out that the secret activity was to see the library everybody got excited. We came a bit earlier than excepted and we thought we would be able to adjust the time when we came, however, we got a strict reply that we need to wait. The wait was not that long, and in matter of minutes it was hour turn. To get up to the library, you have to go up the stairs that does in circular formation. At one point I felt dizzy and it was a long way (ps. There is an elevator that goes up to the library)
Our guide was you gr in his early 20ish and he was brilliant he interacted with the group, but then again we were only 7 people so not your normal group.
It was great to see the library and it gives me the Harry Potter vibe as the room is semi dark, and you are surrendered by ancient books. The room only light was the electric light rather then natural daylight. The library reminds me of the beauty and the beast movie, the part Bella was shown the castle library .
You were not allowed to touch, you were not allowed to take a pic with a flash, and along with us came 2 ladies acted like Marshall. They would tell you off if you deviated from the set of rules etc. And would raise their voice borderline screaming no you cabt do that.
It was a pleasure to get the opportunity to see the library, the "ladies" put a damper on the excitement; perhaps killed it.
After the library, we went further up to the astronomy tower, more steps, one steeper than the other and up we go. Before arriving to the top, you passes two chambers each with their function, before continuing to the top.
When you finally arrive at the final chamber the top floor, regardless where you stood you would get a 360 view of the city.

Fantastic room. Reminds me of Harry potter's magic school. It's only one room and we are not allowed to enter it. You can look and take photos at the door. only allowed to visit it with a guide with a group of people. You can get the top of the building and overlooking the city.
You will never look at Charles square the same way. I’ve found the museum very interesting and very engaging. Not at all a series of boring artefacts, but a lot of videos, models and projection, or a mix of the three. The name of the museum is confusing though as the main museum of the city of Prague is in Florenc and closed temporarily.

A historical landmark!
This monument stands in tribute to the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV. Created for the 500th anniversary of the founding year of Charles University, this Neo-Gothic sculpture has a tower acting as a pedestal topped with a sculpture of the smiling Charles wearing his imperial regalia. Around the tower, below the emperor are four allegorical sculptures representing I think the four original faculties of the university, theological, medical, legal and philosophical.
Worth a look if near Charles Bridge, it’s right next to it. Very popular gathering point for tours and people sitting, so it takes a bit of patience to get a clear photo.

Nice place to wonder around and enjoy some time
Originally, the house of the Golden (black) angel was built in the Gothic style, later rebuilt in early Baroque style and around 1720 in the top Baroque style. In the eighties of the 19th century it was raised by one floor. The bay (former chapel) has a Gothic vault from 15th century. Cellars have preserved it´s Gothic character, on the ground floor there are the top baroque vaults. The statue of St. Florián by I. F. Platzer from 1760 is placed at the corner. After the lost battle of Bílá hora, the "winter king" Frederick Falcký stayed in this house overnight.
