The place is small and busy so there's a 60min time limit . The staff is polite, and they always make sure to fill your water. The ramen broth and the noodles are really good. We got the red miso and Assari light shoyu (tastes kinda like Filipino sopas). We also got the chicken karaage don and Cha Shu don (pork belly rice similar to Filipino sisig but soft instead of crispy). I like the mango pudding but my sis finds it a little sour. I also enjoyed the sesame ice cream. The hot plum ginger wine tastes like beer/ginger ale thats warm. We parked on Bellevue Ave btw.
Delicious food! My husband and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get a table. We both enjoyed the dumplings and ramen. The deep fried dumplings are unlike any dumpling I’ve had before, loved how crispy and flavourful they were! The ramen was also very good. I had the vegetarian miso tan tan and added shiitake mushrooms, highly recommend. It’s great they provide options to customize/add items to suit your taste. My only criticism is that the fried tofu was 1 small piece, another piece would make it better. Overall, it was a generous serving.

Very easy to order, and very good sushi here! They have good deals :) However, if you are looking to dine in, there are only two tables! I thought it was more of a restaurant but you are still able to dine in here if you come a bit more early when there are spots!
The mini menu is good for people who doesn’t want a big portion size. They have different items on sale each day. Ordered take out.

Overall had a good experience here and I wouldn't mind returning. Friendly service and food is good. However, it is definitely not my top choice in terms of flavour or value for money.

Maybee it was a bad day. Maybe.

My friend and I were craving noodles, and Misoya was just a walk down the street, so we set our destination here.
See, I’m Japanese, so I know about Misoya. I know it’s a really big chain in Japan. But, through the excitement of its authenticity, I forgot that in the end, it is a chain.
Therefore, the quality isn’t high by any means, it might actually be low. Not BAD like I wouldn’t eat it- I literally ate ramen with extra noodles.

The quality was good, the taste was something that you wouldn’t find in most Ramen places in Toronto, and then that, since you know it’s from Japan. But I think it was slightly bit overcooked, because the noodles were slightly too, voluminous if that makes sense.

I think what broke did you for me was the bamboo shoots. I really like bamboo shoots. I was even planning to get extra, but I’m glad I didn’t, because it tasted… Almost expired. Now I don’t know what expired bamboo shoots taste like, but this isn’t what bamboo shoots taste like. It was oddly bitter and sour at the same time, and I was disappointed, even though it’s a small part of the Ramen, and it might seem petty.

The broth was pretty good, it was a little bit on the thicker side, not just oil, but the literal thickness. We did go in towards the end of the day, so maybe that’s why the quality was like this.

The service was nice though, this is nothing against the servers, or the people of the place, it’s just an unfortunate coincidence with the food.

It was definitely way too hot when we came in, but we cooled down through our time there.

As for price, definitely on the higher side, even for Toronto. I’ve definitely seen higher prices for Ramen in the GTA, but their quality matched their prices a little bit better than this place does.

I’d love to come in and try again, because I trust that it was just a coincidence and an unfortunate mishap that the quality wasn’t upheld.

P.S their gyoza was very Japanese and very good! This one I like!
Thank you for having me! :D

Came here to celebrate my birthday and check another highly rated ramen joint off my list!

Our server for the evening was someone who was in training! They were very thorough and made sure they got our order correct before leaving.

We were sat fairly quickly for a group of three, the restaurant was clean and inviting.

We ordered their Karaage, Hell Red Yuzu Shio Ramen (scotch bonnet pepper) which was limited to an October only special, and the Spicy White Sesame Shio Ramen.

The Karaage was portioned well, lots of flavour and absolutely delicious!

Both soups were incredibly flavourful and packed a punch. While completely unique to one another they both shone in their own way. Spice wasn’t overpowering and blended well with the broth. The yuzu really made a difference in the featured ramen!

The seasoned egg was perfectly cooked with a delicious jammy centre, and the pork was cooked to perfection; not overly fatty.

The servers worked as a team and made it a wonderful night. Definitely coming back!

I went there with my two friends. The space inside we're quite big and the servers were super kind! The shio ramen was really soft and mild! It was kinda sweet but taste really mild and nice 👍Also, I had shoyu ramen. Which was my personal favorite. The meaty broth was my style😆

As always exceptional! I love sitting at the kitchen bar and watch chefs make dishes. Friendly chefs. Super nice and friendly waiter stuff. Great food. Everything is as always very fresh. Super fresh sashimi. Everyone must try roll with candy pop. I find mushroom pizza taste better then fish. I’m very sad that you took miso soup off the menu, I though it was the best one in Toronto. Great deserts. And my favourite lychee martini!

Great little ramen spot. Best ramen I have ever eaten so far. Staff was nice and seating took a while due to how crowded it was. I had the Hell Ramen and it was even better looking than the picture. It was really great! I liked the spice level a lot. Just make sure to ask for water, since it seems if they are busy it's hard to keep track of who needs a refill. I also tried the shio ramen and it was really well flavored. The eggs were top notch by the way and I recommend getting an extra egg on the side.

Authentic opened from Japan. I have been to the original shop in Japan. This overseas franchise in Toronto is not bad. Taste is basically 85% of original. However, the wait time is too long. The customer and food flow is not working smoothly. Some tables/seats occupied by people for too long. This is a ramen restaurant and not fine dining. Also, allowing reservations have killed a lot of business. I see many empty seats but customers quieing outside or turned away because of the wait time. Also, should narrow down on the menu...should not serve dessert...waste of time. Overall can try

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akira Back and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance was inviting and the staff was incredibly welcoming.
Every dish I tried was an absolute delight. The sushi rolls were beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The Yellowtail Serrano roll was a standout with its perfect balance of spicy and tangy notes. Overall, I highly recommend dining at Akira Back. Whether you're a fan of Japanese or Korean cuisine, or simply looking for a unique culinary adventure, this restaurant will not disappoint.

Love this place. The atmosphere is the best, so chilled, loud, and fun. Especially the sake bomb, makes me miss home whenever we go drinking. Everyone should try the sake bomb here for the experience.
Foods taste excellent too. Prices are reasonable. Portions could be bigger, or maybe b/c I was hungry? Lol. Service is fast and pleasant.
We brought our friends visiting from out of town here and we had a blast. When others visit, we'll bring them here again, so much fun.

This is one of my favourite place to eat. Very appreciated how late night this place opens til. This is a very special place. They are doing something very different for late night food in Toronto.

The service here is very hospitable and welcoming. Shout out to Tata the server, very kind, attentive and a great server. I will be back!

Great value for the money. Rolls were decent. Thin rice layer, big, quality ingredients. A little heavy on the tempura flakes. I would avoid the scallop handroll. It was pretty greasy. Overall, good experience.

The food came out very fast and tasted great. We ordered okonomiyaki, takoyaki, JFC aka karaage, salmon tataki, Tokyo fries, and sizzling beef short ribs. The karaage was very fatty in a good way and the okonomiyaki tasted just like Japan. Salmon tataki was also high quality. Overall very good and we were in and out within 45 minutes.

Really, really good ramen, and decent price too. This place has a lot of hype, and it's definitely warranted, however that leads to long waiting times as they don't take reservations. The place is also pretty small, and gets busy so be prepared to squeeze.

Near the entrance of the Bisha hotel. Very aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. I found the portion sizes to be quite small, and the prices on the higher side. The food was decent but didn't have any standout dishes that impressed me. They have availability of a private room for bookings, which can be great for parties. We tried the mushroom pizza, opting for a half-and-half combination with tuna. Service was friendly. I probably wouldn’t go back again just cause I was still hungry after spending $180 per person after tip

We had a simple but delicious dinner here. We ordered the AB Wagyu Tacos (with savoury bulgogi sauce and tomato ponzu), King Crab Fried Rice (Alaskan king crab with xo sauce and vegetable mix) and Akira’s Signature Futomaki Rolls (with maguro, shrimp, salmon, egg castella and fried tofu). The food tasted amazing! The place look elegant with a lively atmosphere and the staffs were very friendly. We will definitely come back for more!

The broth is unbelievably delicious and the noodles are just perfect, they are elastic and don’t stick to your teeth.

Only reason for 4 star is the lack of veggie and only two thin slices of pork.

Service is incredible. The waiters are very friendly; from the moment I entered they guided to my seat, asked how my day was, just felt very genuine and at home — a rarity nowadays.

I was in at around 1, wasn’t crowded; just a very nice, chill, calm environment. Highly recommend trying it out.

Ps. They also have a pretty neat beer selection.

This is a great izakaya that actually has main menu options for reasonable sizes for the price (for a bar/izakaya) and all the food tastes really good.

The atmosphere is very lively and the servers are all super energetic and kind. Definitely recommend asking for a sake bomb!
Based on the recommendations from my closest friends we were looking forward to visiting this restaurant. To my surprise the staff was not at all friendly, no "hello" or smile, they actually looked angry and made us felt like we shouldn't be there. We ordered the family meal and pieces of chicken, octopus balls, french fries and potato patties were fried well - light and crispy. Unfortunately, except for the french fries, everything was quite bland. The taste just didn't capture what we experienced in Japan and other parts of Asia. Overall, the biggest disappointment was really the service and the attitude by the staff. It was pretty bad and we couldn't help but wonder: Did we go to the wrong restaurant? Were they having a bad day? Are they working under oppressive conditions?

Spectacular place. The atmosphere is gorgeous, I sat at the bar and enjoyed excellent, attentive, friendly, and personal service. The food is absolutely delicious. The sushi roll was very good, not a showstopper, but the chicken dish and mushroom dish, both mains, could not have been more rewarding. And then they even toasted me some brioche at the end so I could finish the incredible sauce left behind after I finished the mushrooms. Drinks, fantastic. Will be back, 1000%.
It's a take out place rather than a restaurant. Friend staff but lacked in English. It was my first visit and had some questions on menu and I had to guess what the server was saying. Got the family combo, I had better karaage but the rest of the food was great. (love the sauce that came with) For a take out place, I thought it was lil over priced. I'd check them out again if I'm near the neighbourhood.
Great food and drinks value for an affordable price. Really enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend the charsiu rice and agedashi tofu!

We were very excited to try this place as the menu looked very exciting. Unfortunately we found the food to be good but a little underwhelming. We really liked the Hotate Wasabi (scallop dish) and the fried salmon collar special, both very strong dishes. The Kobe Sushi was good but not a stand out. The Ramen Poutine had very good gravy and when you had the pork, pickled ginger, cheese and fries in one bite, it was delicious. Unfortunately you could only have that bite approximately 3 times since there were only three pieces of pork on the dish. (Suggestion: add cut up pork belly to the dish so that you can have all the flavors in more bites). The Grilled Oyster special was good, but it was overly dry and really lacked acid. I added some of the sauce from the Salmon Cheek and it helped a bit, but would have loved more sauce to soak up with the bread. The last dish was the Udon Pepperoncino which unfortunately was lacking acid and the kick of ‘pepperoncino’ we expected, so it felt flat and heavy. That dish could be killer with a little more balance and spice. Even though I was disappointed in some of the dishes, I felt the concepts were very strong, so I’d return to see if this was just a one-off issue. Great staff and a fun, intimate environment - oh and the beer was delicious as well.

I like that this a local ramen spot and I do prefer to support local small businesses but unfortunately, I found the ramen here not as good as the big chains from Japan (konjiki, ikkousha) and Canada (santouka, sansotei). The broth was a bit bland. When we ordered the spicy one, we were warned that it was extremely spicy. But we found it to be a medium spice at best. Also, the spicy ramen broth was not very flavourful, it seemed to just focus on spice. The service was excellent and the noodles were good but I left a little disappointed since I've heard great things about this place.

Quality of food: 5/5 - delicious good food, must try the yuugi sushi.  The smoked seafood they add on the torched salmon keeps you wanting more.
Cleanliness: 5/5 - clean restaurant, not too loud for an izakaya
Service: 5/5 - great service, food came to our table quickly
Value for money: 4/5 - can be a bit expensive but worth coming for special occasions
Recommendation:  5/5 - worth a detour from your trip to visit this restaurant.  Must try to yuugi Sushi and the scallops. Wagyu sushi is also very tasty.  We love coming here for special occasions and a welcoming atmosphere.

Glad to see that Nami continues on! For many years, this was the place that my husband and I would go to when we got paid. While the faces and menu have changed, it still remains a great spot for sushi and robata.
I’m obsessed with this place. The karaage pieces are big and crispy but not at all dry. The purple rice is sticky and delicious. The only thing I could ask for would be more sauce/flavour options, but honestly the chicken is so good by itself with how they season it that I get why they don’t have more sauces. 10/10 would recommend

Highlights: The high seating patio has a lovely mellow vibe. The wagyu sushi was really good. The lemon pepper edamame was super addicting. Half price tebasaki wings were delicious (with the purchase of any drink). Wonderful service!! Lowlights: Would have liked for the gyoza to have been warmer/hotter. Wish we didn’t order the cold shredded chicken salad and ordered something else as it was very underwhelming. Cocktails were too sweet.

Came with family for dinner. A smaller but cozy place, had a small line up due to the anniversary sales they had going on which were really great. Tried the Golden Kome ramen with some added extras and it was fantastic. Nice flavours in the broth, lots of noodles and meat; a good amount of food. Finished off with mochi ice cream and it was really enjoyable, flavours and consistency really good. Servers were really friendly and attentive, will be back again!
The value for money here is through the roof. Everything on their menu is very reasonably priced and the food is quite good. I used to come to the Grange to get fast food when I worked in the area but didn't try this restaurant until last week. Staff here are also very friendly and appear to know a lot of customers coming in which really gives it a nice local vibe.
The dollar goes far here! The value alone is worth it. The food is very good considering the price. I wouldn't come here expecting the best dishes in the world but instead I'd come here for a satisfying meal.

I came here to celebrate my wife's birthday with family. I am stuck on how to review this one. I wish we could do halves but I guess I will round it to a 5 star. I will say that staff, ambience and decor are all spot on. We had the private booth in the back, a nice touch of traditional Japanese flooring but with the "comical" bottomed out seating so you do not have to sit cross legged. What I am hung up on is the food and its value. I know sushi is a huge market, and there are levels of quality you expect for certain establishments. For a very upscale restaurant, I was expecting a little more. I hate to compare restaurants, but I just find the portions here are something left to be desired. For the value you get from the orders, you just do not get enough. The quality of fish is good, some exquisite, but some other orders are why add this to your menu at all? An example is the spicy salmon, it just looks pretty similar to what you get at other spots but it might be more expensive with no real reasoning other than the spot you are in. It is a bit unfortunate, but otherwise everything else was fairly stellar. Though the complimentary ice cream was also nothing spectacular. It is a good unique spot for some dishes but not all.
Great tasting food and value! We got the hormone yakisoba, negitama gyudon, and yakionigiri. Only downside is that there wasn't much filling in the onigiri.

Everything was about $17. They seem super busy during lunch hour so it's probably best to get there early before the rush.

I was highly recommended to check this place out. We are so glad we did. Everything we ordered was unique, delectable and refined. I loved that they had non-alcoholic drinks on their drinks menu, as a non-drinker it was pleasant to see they accommodated for that. The menu was also written extremely well, you didn't have excessive, fancy verbiage. The atmosphere was upscale but comfortable. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly and professional. I could go on and on. Highly recommend!

One of the best Izakaya i’ve ever been to. I arrived at around 11 PM and it was still bustling with customers. The dishes were all amazing, and the service, particularly from Yuko, was exceptionally nice. I’ll definitely come back here, the place is perfect for enjoying myself or hanging out with friends.

Very average. The food was nothing impressive, not very tasty either. Very basic. The server checked up on us frequently so that was nice but as I said average. Good place if you want a quick ramen for lunch but I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a ramen experience.
I had the OG Chicken Meal for lunch, which was great! Service was also friendly. You’ll likely have to eat outside as spacing inside is very limited. I wish there was better seating for outside especially in hotter weather (an umbrella would help).
Came here for their summerlicious menu. Food was decent but for the price, expected slightly more. Presentation was great and ingredients seemed fresh, but just didn’t hit the spot. Maybe pricing is more of the issue.

For the appetizer (Hassun), seemed like they tried to cram a tasting menu into a single dish and so lacked the punch to bring any one component home. The wagyu was well cooked and flavourful but maybe could have used a few more veggies to accompany it. The onion that came with the wagyu was so pungent it tasted stronger than eating a raw onion (perhaps it was just this particular onion that came with my steak or perhaps other people would have like this). Tried a few sakes and their house Caraffe sake was actually quite nice.

The ambiance is great and service was outstanding!

Honestly the food was delicious and the quality of fish for sashimi and sushi is premium. However the agedashi tofu was disappointing and the sauce was rather bland. Wagyu steak was very good and well prepared, our only complaint was the slowness of the service, the absence of the server, the unclarity of the menu, we couldn't do any omakase courses because it was summerlicious but were only told after we had ordered, indications on their website are also unclear. Place is a bit overpriced if I had to be transparent.

The ambience of the place is okay but they had no AC and instead had to use fans. It definitely lowers the upscale of a sushi restaurant. I suggest you choose to sit in a booth V the main area because that area feels more like a cafeteria.

Another downside is how my Sake was poured. Usually sake are served in a shot glass filled up to the very top. This is the first Japanese restaurant where my sake glass was not fully filled. For 33$ the shot glass I expected better.

It’s a typical ramen restaurant. The food taste good, but there is nothing special. The atmosphere is okay as well as the service. Personally prefer some other ramen restaurants over this, but it was pretty okay. If I was in the area and needed food now I would consider coming back here

Great spot in the Baldwin Village for date night! They have a really nice patio as well. They also have specials for different types of dishes and cocktails throughout the summer.

Try their Omurice and Tonkatsu before it's gone!
Great for light dinner...we could've easily eaten more if we were hungrier. But we were perfectly served.

Loved the imported sashimi and the lobster sashimi too. Chicken Namban hit the spot. Fun atmosphere with a young attentive staff. $3 Soju shots? There's a catch - gotta cheer with the staff and the rest of the crowd. But hey, why not...I won't forget eating there now!

An unreal dining experience with a beautiful ambiance & unmatched service. Came here for a birthday dinner and was immediately impressed by the lovely staircase that takes you to the dining area. The servers were so lovely and we were immediately seated & had our orders taken. They were incredibly accommodating with allergies and dietary restrictions for my friends. Our favourites from the meal itself were the cucumber salad and the Brother from Another Mother roll. The other items we ordered were okay but not outstanding. I also wished they had explicitly stated the charge for water as we ended up unintentionally spending $42 on it.
A great little spot to grab a quick bite!

Manpuku is a simple, easy spot to grab a snack or smaller meal, with quick service and staple japanese eats. We got the clam takoyaki, udon, and hayakshi rice. The udon and takoyaki were good, however the rice was just okay. I am really happy with the value here, with our bill coming to only 24$.

Overall, a big recommend for its category of cheap eats!

I had the Tonkotsu Black. Portion size was great and the ramen was prepared well. I liked the broth, noodles, egg and bean sprout in my ramen. However, I like ramen at other ramen shops in Toronto more. 😅 The taste is good but not great, imo. I would come back to try other ramen bowls or other dishes/appetizers though 😊 Worth a try!

What a fantastic find with friends! Especially after returning from some delicious experiences of ramen in Japan this place made me feel very fulfilled eating back in Canada. Wonderful choice of their Black Garlic Ramen and some very good appetizers of takoyaki and chicken karaage.
I love Kinka Izakaya! Hubby and I had been to the Montreal location before so when we were visiting Toronto for the weekend, and I saw they had a location there, I made us a reservation. Our resso was for 8 pm on a Saturday night and it was packed. Looks like a popular spot for bachelorette parties because we saw a few there.

We ordered the oyster kakimayo, sashimi platter, carbonara udon, and curry cheese bibimbap. The oyster kakimayo is a fave. We ordered this in Montreal and I liked it there too. It’s cheesy and garlicky - what’s not to love? The sashimi was good too but pretty standard. My favorite piece was the ebi. The udon was great. It comes with a perfectly poached egg that you mix in with the noodles. Bibimbap was fine - nothing special. It probably could have used more cheese but I don’t think it’s something you couldn’t make at home with those Japanese curry blocks.

I wish they had a location in NYC. The prices are also very reasonable for an izakaya so you get a good bang for your buck. Guess I’ll just have to visit again the next time I’m in Canada.
this place has a very comfortable and home-y atmosphere inside. the food is really cheap and great for what you pay. service was both friendly and really quick too. i came on a saturday with my friends and it was pretty busy but found a seat quicky.

It was ok, nothing mind blowing. I had the tan tan and the broth was amazing but my partner had the curry ramen and it was ok, tasted like curry but not spicy at all felt like it was missing something. For some reason almost ever dish came with ground pork which I hate so I asked my server if I could get rid of the ground pork and get a second slice of pork instead which she said was fine but when the bill came they ended up charging me 3.50$ for the extra slice and took away the ground pork which I thought was kind of cheap of them.. they also wouldn’t let my partner sub the bamboo shoots for an equal value veggie without up charging him. they did take 20% off of our meal which they seemed to be doing to everyone I’m not sure why. The pork and the chicken in our ramen seemed dry like it had been sitting out for a long time before. The serving size was good I was very full after. Overall probably won’t go back but wasn’t awful.
3.4/5

The food is decent but way overpriced. The dine-in menu is different from the takeout menu, and the prices seemed abnormally high for the serving sizes. You can, however, expect authentic Japanese food of a certain quality here.

The Tempura and Karaage were hot and crispy and quite tasty. We ordered the sushi rolls and Tataki to be shared amongst us and these were good choices as well. The Warayaki Oysters were the only thing we weren’t a fan of as they were a bit fishy.

Although the restaurant was quite empty when we visited, our server was absent. We had to waive him down multiple times for water as he seemed overwhelmed serving other tables.

Overall, not the best experience despite the polite staff. I was a bit disappointed as we expected better.

It was my first time at this restaurant, it has an amazing welcoming atmosphere and presence. The staff are great at recommending food items on the menu, the service is also great! There’s indoor and outdoor dining; all dishes were delicious! It’s recommended to try multiple dishes to get a full experience on the various items on the menu. I highly recommend the mushroom cheese and rice dish!

We had the creamy mushroom, spicy ramen and ultimate spicy ramen, the ultimate one was like really really spicy so my friend wasn’t able to finish her broth mind me telling you she is brown and eats ton of spicy food so be careful into getting that option. Overall good portion sizes and quick service.
Speedy service and the portion of the orders are generous in comparison to the price was great. I ordered the Tsukimi Udon and Niku Udon. The flavours of the food itself isn’t amazing, it’s missing more umami which results into being a bit bland. For the price, don’t expect it to be the best but it is decent.

Food: 7/10
Service: 9/10

The ramen was very delicious and wasn't too salty. The pork was also very soft and flavourful.

They were able to accommodate our table of 7 quickly and were very nice.

I highly recommend this place and will be back soon.

A nice place to go with friends after work. We got their squid pancake which was delicious. We got their skewer set, the beef tongue and mushroom were the best, their pork and chicken skewers were okay. We also got their Kanto, I think only the egg is worth trying, everything else was average. The service was great, overall it's a good place to try it out.

Ordered: Omakase at Vela

Sushi was a bit disappointing... The flavours were not too distinct and the fish didn't taste fresh...
Was served wasabi during the first 2 courses despite asking for no wasabi...

It is perhaps the best sushi place in Toronto that I’ve tried. Sushi is fresh and tasty. Service is nice and quick. I had California roll and spicy salmon last time and they are so good. I will definitely come back.

We had Aburi Salmon Dragon before (my favorite so far) but this time we decided to try something new for my boss's farewell party and and this did not disappoint us at all - Sashimi Sushi Roll Tray B. We also ordered a tempura and all were super yummy! The sushi rolls here are high-quality with great ingredients. Any roll with the rice is fantastic, rice is soft enough, not too sticky not too dry. Plus the sushi and sashimi at this place are not pricey as I thought. You can feed your belly with just $20 or so. Highly recommended!

I have been returning to this place several times every time I am in downtown. The sushi is always fresh and flavourful and my favourite one is Aburi Salmon. It is also affordable considering the huge portion. Staff is nice and welcoming. Highly recommend it!!!

I happened upon this place while looking for a lunch spot. I am SO glad I did. I did take away and the service was quick. Tried one of the lunch specials and was surprised by the quality and amount of fish in these rolls! The spicy rolls are not a mayo mess and the fish is chunky and delicious.

It's going to be difficult to stay away from lunches here. Can't wait to go back.
This spot is a must try! The service is on point, the ambiance is great and they’re not going to disappoint. In terms of food you need to try their Salmon/Shrimp Ozusushi, the chicken karaage, and the rice bowls! Highly recommend trying a sake bomb if you’re with a group of people too! Overall this is great spot and I was really happy with my experience.
Tucked away in a foodcourt across from the AGO/OCAD, Manpuku has always been known as one of the best deals in the city for cheap eats or a quick meal.

What I got:
- Takoyaki
- Tofu Nuggets
- Kitsune Udon

Final Thoughts:
I haven't been to Manpuku in years and I'm quite honestly torn as the price is still unbeatable (the whole meal cost me about $15), but the quality is not what I remember from years ago.

I bit into an empty takoyaki and after biting all of them in half I found only 2/6 pieces had any octopus in them. The octopus that was present was so small I almost missed it which was incredibly disappointing. I hope this was just a one-off.

The udon is nothing special, but for the price it's a great cheap meal. The tofu nuggets had edamame in them and were topped with a tangy sauce. The server helping me was also incredibly sweet. I'd come back for the price when I'm in need of a quick bite, but if you're looking quality it may be worth spending a little more elsewhere.

Really enjoyed the sushi from here. It's a small spot more ideal for lunch or dinner take out but there is some small seating tucked in there. What stood out with the sushi was just the high quality ingredients and freshness.... As if the fish had just jumped out of the ocean, disassembled itself in mid air and landed in a bed of rice, ready to be enjoyed. But not on that way, get your mind out of the gutter, do i look like Aquaman? It's just good sushi, you dig?

Having lived in Vancouver for many years I sometimes have a craving for good Ramen and this place delivered in spades. The service was excellent to start with. The Ramen was very good, the broth and noodles were perfectly done( not too salty ) .The pork was tender and delicious ( I added more meat for a few dollars) . And it was spicy ( what I ordered) but not flame thrower ridiculous.Def will go back and bring a few people along with me.

Very good sushi. It's a stand-up sushi bar where pieces are given to you one by one. You can converse with the chef preparing your food which adds to the atmosphere. The sushi quality is very high for Toronto standards and the price is fairly high too. This is not a filling meal but a good snack or appetizer before a meal. The staff were very accommodating and the service was excellent. The uni and salmon roe were particularly good. Worth a try and you will leave hungry with just the set menu.
We came for the experience, and I’ll give 5 Michelin stars for that. The food was alright for me. It was fresh and imported from Japan. Overall, 4 stars seem right.
Our bill was almost over 400$ including HST and tips. Overpriced, yes; but if you are one who sees reality as something made out of multilayered experiences, this might be one of them.

Amazing. Love love loved the sushi and the experience. We went during 3-5 and received a percentage off. The place is really small and intimate … I love the feel of a small place in Japan. One thing I would suggest is staying true to the time limit. We were out in 15 mins… our server did ask if the speed is okay, but I felt really uncomfortable to say “slow down,” but that’s just me. Still, I would go back.

An incredible dining experience! Toronto’s first standing omakase and the food was phenomenal. The chefs take the utmost care in making and explaining each piece of sushi.
Go to spot back when I was in college because it’s close by, delicious, and affordable! Always recommend this place to everyone visiting Toronto🫶🏼so so good for the value!! The servers are also very nice and attentive, and the place is relatively clean despite being part of the Grange foodcourt.

Kind staff and reasonable pricing :) I got a set which was three rolls, salad, and miso soup for under $20 after tax! the sushi was also very nice! Will be my go to take out place for sushi in toronto
We really enjoyed authentic Japanese dinner at this restaurant. According to them, this restaurant is one of the oldest Japanese restaurant in Toronto. I do not know if that is true or not, but what they served tasted real quality Japanese food. As for drinks, they have several choice of Japanese sakes (rice wine) and we can enjoy the difference of their aroma. Please notice that this is my very personal opinion, but their choice of sakes seemed a little bit too sweet, I mean they are good to enjoy by itself, but too sweet to drink with food. So in case you feel the same, it may be a good idea for you to drink a glass of dry white wine, not sake. Their food was quite delicious with white wine. At least I felt so.
We visited this place for a V-Day dinner. They'd decorated the place beautifully to fit the vibe. The food was great but I won't say it was exceptional. I've had better sushi for the same or at a lower price. The servers were dressed in kimonos, being true to Japanese culture. We were told that the last call was at 9:30pm and the restaurant would close at 11pm. However our server was persistent on us placing the last order by 9:15pm. Considering our booking was for 9pm, I thought half an hour was enough to decide the mains but we were rushed into it. My wife and I really liked the wasabi they had but couldn't really appreciate it as much since the plates were cleared the moment we took our last bite from a dish, without confirming with us.
Overall, their service could improve a tad bit.

Adorable omakase restaurant inside located in a high end food court. You are given 30 mins to complete the meal while the chef and servers tell you about each individual piece. Special thanks to Helen's exceptional customers service. She went out of her way to help me with answering all my questions. When I had previously come by.

The food quality is exceptional fresh and delicious. I highly recommend coming here to treat yourself to some high end sushi!

This is a great, small place for omakase. It is a 30 minute stand-up place for 11 nigiri and 1 hand roll, reservation required with deposit for no-show. Around $70 per person, with 15% discount from 3-5 PM. Sister restaurant to exclusive restaurant Sushi Masaki Saito priced at $680 per person. Accessible by PATH and in prime location downtown.

The fish is extremely fresh from Japan, imported 2-3 times a week. The chef prepares it in front of you. The chef preparing our food was very friendly, explaining the flavours of each piece and making conversation. Best raw fish I've had - highly recommended. A bit on the expensive side if you're used to going to your average sushi place for rolls, but definitely value for omakase. A great place for a taste of high quality fish without spending too much.
Okay, this was seriously amazing Japanese fried chicken. I had the slider and the curry and both were amazing. The chicken is sake marinated so it has a suddle sweet sake flavour, and the the crunch factor was quite dense. Not too much breading, but serious level of extra crispiness. The chicken also was well seasoned. Not too salty and you can taste everything. Definitely check this spot out if you haven’t. You won’t be disappointed.

The whole experience was amazing. The omakase sushi set served here is top notch and deserves the recognition. The fish and rice quality were memorable. The ratios were perfect and the order of each piece seemed thoughtfully curated.

We got lucky that we didn't need a reservation. We went during the snow storm when lots of people had canceled. Didn't wait long to get a spot at the sushi bar.

To me it didn't feel rushed even though technically there was a 30 minute time limit.

Would definitely do this again the next time I am back in Toronto.
Tiny but mighty and tasty is how I describe Gushi on Gerrard x Parliament. The portion is more than I expected. Everything is flavourful. Wonderful staff and quick service. Great choice especially if you are craving for quality Japanese fried chicken.

Excellent quality sushi, I think this is the best sushi I've had in my life. Everything was so tasty it was mind-blowing! I wish I had taken better pictures, next time I will, because I'm coming back for sure!

Staff was 10/10, super nice and attentive.

I recommend this place!

The 2 times I've been here were great!
First visit I ordered: tuna and avocado sushi + pork katsu dinner. The tuna was fresh, avocado was creamy. Pork was so soft and crispy, the sauce was so good too! It came with a mini lettuce salad with kewpie dressing (I think) and miso soup. (Total bill: $24.66)

Second visit: silver box. It was very worth the price, I was stuffed! The rice was less than I expected though. The tempura (the yam one especially) and chicken teriyaki were great. (Total bill: $19.25)

Props to the waitresses too, they were so friendly.
Best fried chicken spot in Toronto! I’ve had the H&M (hot and maple) chicken and the Original but the Original is way better. I didn’t find it that much different than the H&M one. It comes with spicy mayo sauce and soy sauce.. honestly the flavour combo is just so good. I’ve ordered a few times now and every time it is fresh, moist and flavourful!

Stand-up omakase in 30 minutes on the dot. You get 12 pieces plus a hand roll for $80 after tax (not including tip). Fish was fresh and chef knew what she was doing.

I think it’s a cool idea but if I’m shelling out for omakase I’d rather have a longer experience in a nicer setting where instead of being rushed the restaurant gives you time to enjoy and gives you surprises throughout. I would recommend the omakase at Shunoko (st Clair west) which is around same price but far better experience (unless you’re really just looking for quick downtown lunch)

Was pretty impressed.
The staff was very kind and accommodating.
I got their omakase and a Charles St. Roll.
I enjoyed the omakase very well, but I found the roll to be a bit disappointing. It wasn’t very fresh and the tuna didn’t taste like much.
This restaurant is very affordable at a very reasonable price!
I would recommend this sushi shop :)

Phenomenal. I agree 100% with all the recent positive reviews of Sushi Club. Its quality is unparalleled and staff are very friendly. Tastiest miso soup I’ve ever had. Sake delicious!! Bento was generous and delicious. Sushi and rolls *impeccable*. Can’t wait to return.

if i could give 6 stars i would... had such a lovely experience here!!! the price is also very affordable (especially as two university students hahah) and the owner was so courteous and friendly. service was amazing and we also got our food really quickly! overall, we enjoyed every moment of our time here!!

17/10/21:
we ordered the yam tempura, a salmon roll, mango & avocado roll, charles st. roll, and a rainbow dragon roll.
the yam tempura was perfectly crispy and not too greasy which went especially well with the dipping sauce!
the presentation for the sushi was absolutely gorgeous and the sushi rice ratio was perfect— unlike a lot of places i’ve been that go waaay overboard with the rice! all the fish tasted fresh and the avocado was the perfect ripeness!! i especially loved the mango & avocado roll and the rainbow dragon :)

18/10/21:
ordered the veggie maki combo takeout with 6pcs each of avocado, mango, and cucumber maki. it came with a soup and a side salad, which was nothing special. but i couldn’t get enough of their sushi! everything was so delicious again and my favourite had to be the avocado one!! however, some of the rolls seemed like they were falling apart... maybe dining-in is still the best option!

will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu!!!

Tatsu Sushi has perhaps one of the best 'spicy salmon roll' of all sushi place I went to in Toronto. Why so specific? Well, I really love 'spicy salmon roll' and it is something I always ordered every time I visit a sushi shop. So if you are like me, then you should definitely try it!

Aside from that, the sushi/sashimi and food tasted great and worth your money. It is priced well; and I highly recommend getting the combo or set menu to get the most of it. The sushi is always fresh and of a great quality every time I order here. This is one of my to-go place when I'm craving sushi, especially 'spicy salmon roll'!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6 star place.

Don’t believe the old reviews. The new owner got this place in March 2021 and he is running this place like a rockstar.

His name is Han and he is awesome. Stellar service. Courteous, engaging, respectful, attentive.

We got a platter for 4 people 70$. And a couple of beers.

Everything is fresh, huge chunks of salmon 🍣 , tuna, scallops.

Delicious!

Thank you, Han and the team.
Whenever I am in the area this is where I will go.
You got yourself a couple of regulars right there :)

See you soon and keep up the awesome work!

👋
Amazing Japanese fried chicken. I’ve always seen this place on Uber/foodora/ritual but I’m all about supporting places like these without the third party. This place is quite the hidden gem considering the area. I really enjoyed the food here at this cute lowkey joint. The guys here were polite and helpful. It was less than $10 for a regular size fried chicken with purple rice. There are other mix and match options too though, but the chicken was so dam crispy, and juicy. My friend loved the food too. I am hoping to go again soon.
Kinka is a lively restaurant that is excellent for groups. The food comes as small sharable plates that come out at a good pace. The food itself is delicious.

Whether it's new friends or old, kinka is a great spot for a good meal and a good time!
