What an awesome hidden gem.
There are quite a few trails to take here, and some fun steps to climb if you wish.
Lots of birds and hardly any people, what more could you ask for?
It’s a good fishing Spot you just gotta be there at the right time

Was planning on walking my dog here, but felt incredibly unsafe, so locked my doors and did a U-turn. There was only a campervan with no sign of the occupants and guy standing next to his car. It’s a very isolated spot and if you’re a Woman on your own, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The gravel section of the road is in desperate need of grading, meaning the maximum speed I could do on it was 10 km/h. I’ll be letting Council know.
Great trails and a beautiful area to explore especially during wildflower season.
Good place to go for a walk but bring aerogard as there are a lot of mosquitoes. Some of the path was flooded. There are bbq areas but no toilets. There is a fishing area that is maintained. Plenty of parking space during the week day. Some of the path is wheelchair and pram friendly. I recommend going to have a look 😊😊.

Kid friendly, for scooters and bikes

Rad skate park, good for pro skaters who like tricky looped tracks.

Great parking, and a good place to practice novice skating haha! 😂

Lovely place to walk around, go to the bird viewing hut, see wildlife, and get a fresh breeze of air 🩵🌻🌳🪿🐢

Very close to Leederville, lots of places to have dinner, jog, skate or walk around 🍽🏃‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶
What a beautiful spot
Rubbish and ants. Dirty and dirty water. It stinks. I had to wash dogs after swimming. No where to walk dogs. Men urinating on trees. Rubbish everywhere. Yuk.

Beautiful conservation wetlands in West Leederville. Fantastic for walks, fitness, cycling, and picnics.
There's a massive amount of wildlife, including the iconic swans,as well as board walks, playgrounds, bmx bowls, toilet facilities, and most times, some food trucks.
The reserve is mostly shaded under a canopy of native bush land and set around a beautiful lake.
Allow an hour to complete the circuit.
It's going to be a favourite location for my walks.
Easy flat walking paths on limestone gravel pathways. Some birdlife and bobtails can be seen. This is a remnant bushland you can't get lost in. Nicer viewing in autumn and winter months. Summer this place is very dry and not much to look at.

Free car Parks in a few places around the lake except the freeway side of course 🙄
Plenty of ducks, wrens etc.
Playground and a cuppa van.
Large grassed area and toilets to the West of the lake.
Just over 3kms around the shared cycle, jogging and walking path.

Beautiful place for a relaxing walk
Great for walking, flat and suitable for all but wheelchairs as access is not easy & paths not wheelchair friendly. Don't come here if you're wanting to picnic or looking for children's playground, as it's not that kind of place. Come to enjoy the feel of a bit of lovely bushland in an otherwise urban environment. Spotted a tiger snake and Quenda today and listened to the clicks, bonks and drips of the beautiful frog calls all along the water way.
This really is the jewel in Victoria Park. Wildflowers in abundance and some beautiful bushland. Get a breath of fresh air here!

One of my favourite places to go near floreat. I find peace in the serene landscapes all around the lake. Walking trails around the lake and also a very well maintained playing area for kids.

Good little place to check out. Out the back of an old smelter. Jetty near by but not accessible to the public. Few parking areas and toilets near by.

Great little spot for walking the dog
Only went as quick stop for my dog, definitely going to return & take a good look/walk.
Went back today (perfect weather),took the path walk around bushland, good walk, only downfall dogs have to be leashed, but still a nice walk. Then you get back to oval & dogs can run & play unleashed.
It's only 15mins,& seemed to be many different smells for dog,she enjoyed the walk & ball play.🤗🐶
Nesting season so ducklings and cygnets to see, light breeze, spring weather, relaxing & pleasant 3.5km walk, free - what more could you ask for?

A hard spot to get to if your not a local. This is a great launch spot, with no sand, but just gravel. We launched our kayak from here, with no problems. It was busy at the tide change but most people are considerate.
Amenities: no toilets. No picnic facilities. No playground nearby. No fresh water source. No shelter.
There were a couple of people fishing alongside and at the launch area. They were in the way. I hope they caught nothing, because they were a nuisance to try and avoid.
Took my Bengal cat for a walk.

Why are there so many tyres in the bay.

A group of friends and I managed to pull out almost 100 tyres.

Nice walk through the bushland, paved pathways most of the way through.
a.k.a. Jirdarup (Nyoongar word meaning “place of birds"). Lovely area of preserved natural bushland. Good place to spot black cockatoos, among other birds.
If bringing dogs into the area please keep them on a leash as per the many signs.

游人稀少,植被茂密,有一部分路面硬化。春天有野花但不多。南边马路边有免费停车位。没有卫生间、烧烤炉。
What a place for a lovely afternoon walk! The walking trail surrounding Lake Monger meanders through beautifully maintained lawns, blossoming native gardens and shaded scrubs. There is bird life a plenty: ducks, swans and herrons, to name but a few. Numerous play area for children of all ages and drinking water fountains are scattered around, and a number of signs telling the native history of the place provides another important aspect. There is even a coffee caravan. A must visit for sure.

A lot of long grass and weeds with some bushland. A good size chunk of open space for walks and river views.

Pretty gross to be honest, they should put money into it and make it into a really nice reserve,. but as it stands it looks like what it is, an ex aluminium smelter, dirty, burnout marks everywhere, just not inviting. Needs work.
Natural wetlands, open to the public and is a Bush Forever, Heritage listed Reserve. Under 71 Ha, has pathways to walk on, made of road-base for safety.

In the warmer months, there are snakes, ticks and wildlife in the bushland, so recommend to stay on the paths. All dogs need to be on leashes or on the spot fines. Doggy disposal Poop bags and rubbish bins available at each gate entry points.

Best time to visit, Autumn and Spring...
People come here with and to do ;
Families, overseas tourists, locals, Community, hobby groups and for students educational purposes; free nature talks (with myself on Facebook) or book with City of Bayswater online....
Find us on Friends of Lightning Swamp Bushland, Facebook page. Enjoy your visit.

Great place to run or jog or just have a walk. STUNNING lake with great walkways, a couple lovely booths overlooking the lake.

There's also a cafe where people love to get their coffee after the run, and a playground. It's got everything you need.
Nice little bush walk i recommend parking at lightning park rec centre and entering at that entrance
There is plenty of beach near by. Not much in the way of parking as carpark is small. But at least there is plenty of space along the beach to walk along or to simply enjoy the view.

Magnificent lake reserve with parks at different sections around the lake.
Great views from different directions toward Perth Skyline or residential homes along Lake Monger Drive.
Walking trails and cycle paths around the lake were also great for people to take a long walk, or cycling to take in some nice views.
Even on a weekday especially in the early afternoon, there was a consistent flow of people going around the reserve.
Love walking on this track, I always seem to find really good things to take pictures of. Great way to unwind!!

Council needs to maintain the roads and parking areas a lot better. Security cameras do not deter people doing burnouts on the access roads. Actual recreation area is ok, but limited in features. Plenty of wild birds, and lots of shoreline to explore.

For dog owners especially

Be prepared to walk in some sludge, not really much of a beach to be totally honest.
All the cool stuff around there is fenced off, which was the long jetty that couldn't be accessed and also an abandoned furnace warehouse(totally fenced off!)

Walked around the old nature walk and was swamped by mossies even tho it was a windy day..

We left soon after to Queenscliff(which is another 30mins away from the city centre) but was well worth the trip coz the dog beaches/parks there were beyond amazing!

Always very smelly at low tide, due to the sea weed and people using it to throw out their rubbish. Young guys getting there doing burn-outs in their cars, road is disgusting with pieces of tyre's everywhere on the road. With a bit of Government money spent and a lot of work and a high rise motel built or even a fun park theme it could be a beautiful holiday resort, bringing in the many thousands of tourist from all over Australia and the world.

Great running spot
Wide open space, nothing especially exciting but great place to feel on the end of the world :)
Don't go past Salt Couch Flats without boots of some sort. Lots of mud! Beautiful place to relax and stroll around 😊🌺 well kept
Point Henry was the place where many numerous early European settlers landed when coming to Geelong. The shallow waters and sandbar made it burdensome for larger vessels wanting to enter Corio Bay. Point Henry became the closest landing base.

Right now its the site of the now closed Alcoa Smelter and has a couple of highlights, as visitor attractions. There is a public toilet, a pier which makes for good photos, if you have a zoom lens, and an old signal station. Its not great for fishing due to mud, reeds and shallow water depth.
Come here to spot the endangered black cockatoos, really cool that local council has put in water sources for the birds.

Pristine piece of remnant bush with a wide varity of landscapes. Has a small population of roos living within the bush. Plenty of nice walk trails and full of life and diversity which is on display during spring
Great spot, usually quiet. Perfect for kayaks. Fishing is pretty good too.
Really nice place for a bush walk
I love this bushland reserve.
Went walking there today with my dog.
She didn’t want to leave!
It was windy & very wet there today
and I had thoughts of leaving but my dog urged me to keep walking!!
Shortly afterwards we spotted a fox.
I took a pic of it (from a distance) before it quickly darted away once it was aware of our presence.
On another occasion I came across a very large kangaroo (in a clearing)
right near the boardwalk that runs parallel to the swamp.
I wondered if it was injured as normally kangaroos quickly dart away.
This one didn’t though I made sure I kept a safe distance from it.
Eventually it just slowly moved away.
This a great place to appreciate and enjoy our wonderful bushland reserve’s.
All in all it’s one of our favourite places to go for a walk.
Great place for a walk and checkout a few wildflowers.
Easily wandered 7+ km here with my friend and our 2 dogs (though this was partly due to minimal trail signage or location markers but that wasn't a big problem for us). Lots of cool abandoned automotive + farming equipment to stumble upon while on your exploration as well as a few plants I had not seen before.

"Craigie Bushland is classified as a major conservation area and is ranked in the City of Joondalup’s top five bushland areas due to its high biodiversity values, including the Banksia Woodlands Threatened Ecological Community.

The reserve covers approximately 56 hectares of bushland and includes a permanent fenced area of approximately 42 hectares. Quenda, a small native marsupial listed as a Priority 4 fauna species as they are in need of monitoring live within the fenced area."

Amazing section of bushland that's been a part of a rehabilitation project since the late 90's. The bushland here truly is beautiful given it is so close to the centre of the city. You'll forget you're in the big smoke for a while if you take a stroll through here. I've even seen a little quokka once when walking through. Don't be afraid to walk off the beaten path otherwise you'll never see the best bits.
Good place to walk the dog or go for a bit of kayaking/ paddle boarding.
A beautiful location with more facilities than expected.
Mostly shaded by the canopies of trees and overgrown scrub, this walk is not hilly with some sandy, gravel and grassy pathways. I did the Bargara road return from the Mon repos walking track. This follows a creek which in places is stagnant and some spots it's running water. The maluecka circuit next.

Nice walks in early morning although having cattle through the reserve isn’t ideal. Large areas to be developed hopefully. Last planting of native trees largely didn’t survive the last dry spell and is now extremely weedy.
Beautiful swamp spider orchids, 3 kangaroos, and a little blue fairy wren. Only a made a short stop here today but I'll certainly be coming back.
Love walking through here, lots of birdlife and in spring the native flowers and wildflowers are lovely. It's great to see so much pink myrtle, donkey orchids and yellow wattle, smells lovely in spring too. Great dog park nearby also. There's a lovely frog mouthed owl family there also 😀
A contrasting mix of plants and birds throughout the seasons, natural pools in Winter and random blooming local flora during the drier months. A few options for walking tracks, closed shoes suggested as a bare minimum (bull ants) and waterproof for the wetter months for those feeling adventurous.
Great place to take the kids.
😍 my fav walk
Great place for a nature walk!
