Beautiful nature reserve tucked away in the suburban streets of Knoxville. The lake is a main feature of the reserve, with several sealed walking/cycling paths winding their way through the peaceful bushland. A variety of birds inhabit the area, including some black swans on the lake if you’re lucky enough to spot them! Very peaceful place, perfect for taking your dog for a walk or just to zen out on your own!

Nice scenery and good for sight seeing and just relax
Pretty good
Great nature walks and wildlife, it’s a shame people ignore the signs and walk their dogs off lead though as quite a few people are trying to improve their reactive dogs confidence so you sometimes see some negative interactions
Perfect coastal walk with city skyline view, beautiful scenery, various hidden beaches to chill.a perfect way to spend your weekend with friends and family
Star Swamp has always been a place of natural beauty, offering a peaceful retreat in the midst of suburbia. However, it’s become increasingly difficult to fully appreciate and interact with this environment due to the wire fencing that now lines many of the paths. Where it once felt open and accessible, allowing for a more immersive experience with the surroundings, it now feels like much of the area is locked away behind barriers. While the fencing may serve a purpose, it unfortunately detracts from the sense of connection that made Star Swamp so special.
Lovely and easy track with beautiful city and harbour views!
Hermitage foreshore track is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park.Hermitage Foreshore walk starts Belevue st Rose Bay and finishes at Nielson Park Vaucluse. There are a number of spectacular beaches ⛱️ with amazing Sydney harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera views 😀 . I was going to Hermitage beach for a swim. Highly recommended 👌 👍 one of Sydney's hidden gem's
Amazing place for a nice walk, picnic or day out.
Lovely place to walk with our greyhound group. Pretty lake, lots of nice trees. Very popular with families, dog walkers and joggers.

Beautiful reserve. So much bird life, loved seeing different type of birds

We did a 10 KM loop, very nice walking trail, includes some hills. Oh the views were just gorgeous. Several picnic tables. Nice place to hang out with family/friends. Very popular with locals, car park was full
Great walk in Sydney. Will be better when Nielsen park opens again

Amazing volunteers have planted all these native beach plants at Floreat Beach to save the dunes and the car park.

It has plenty of beautiful vistas and views as you walk around the reserve. Spotting local birdlife is enjoyable with scents of the local bush/ forrest with a creek feeding into the lake.
The water birds are friendly as they come to the waters edge.

Aptly named - there’s always a variety of native birds around including darters, ducks, kookaburras, lorikeets, king parrots, rosellas, and more. Quite flat, easy paths. Usually relatively busy, especially on weekends and sunny days. Dogs are welcome, and there are always plenty of people walking their dog around here. Please keep your dog leashed for the protection of the birds.
Nice little park for a quick walk. Not that big and not a lot of bins. Doggies loved it

I don't rate this as 5 stars for swimming or sunbathing on golden sand. It's an unspoilt place from another era. Pack the kayak and go for a paddle, launch the boat from their modern boat ramp and drive very carefully and slowly. The evaporative salt pans are still there but no longer have piles of salt in them. There's bird life, a beautiful view of the You Yangs and plenty of fish in the sea.
I stop here quite regularly on my bike rides to have coffee while watching one of the informational videos about turtles that display on a large video wall. The staff and volunteers are always friendly. It is also a good place to buy Indigenous gifts.

Such a beautiful spot to walk the dogs, the trail is nice and flat and very picturesque!
Stunning and well maintained walk with great views of Sydney Harbour. The paths through the trees add to a sense of seclusion.
So much fun and very beautiful! We went later on Sunday and a lot of the buildings were closed, but we loved the nature walks and the little lake.
A really fantastic way to see Sydney harbour and enjoy a harbour side swim.
Challenging for those with injuries but a good alternative to Bondi to Brontë on a blistering summer’s day
We had such a beautiful time here! One of the best kept secrets in the area. Such a great walk or good for folks who would like a relatively flat bike ride.
So nice to walk along the creek as well as doing a full lap around the lake.
Plenty of bird life, a variety of nature a lovely experience, whatever the weather and walking ability.
Leave yourself plenty of time if you prefer a stroll or allow an hour for a quick lap.
Dogs on leads welcome and appreciated especially with little children enjoying the park and surrounds.
Oh also, there's a fabulous picnic area close to the car park. Very shady and peaceful.
What an amazing experience! And one that exceeded the expectations of our family group. We watched a loggerhead turtle lay her eggs, bury them and return to the ocean…she was a 1 in a 1000! The conservation efforts and knowledge shared by experts and volunteers amplified the experience!
Lakewood Nature Reserve is a remarkable destination for nature enthusiasts. This serene reserve offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, providing ample opportunities for wildlife spotting and birdwatching.

The well-maintained trails within the reserve make it easy to explore and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds you. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, Lakewood Nature Reserve has options for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts.

I highly recommend visiting Lakewood Nature Reserve for a refreshing and immersive experience in the great outdoors.
Great little place to do a bit semi bush walking
It's clean and well looked after by council as well as locals
Amazing nature reserve unique to the west coast. Can you see Quenda in the evening and Tawny Frogmouths roost in the massive engaged Tuart trees :)
Beautiful and good regional park for jogging, relaxation, and strolling walks. Keep within the broad track route as there were snake risk warning signboards. There were lots of wild birds. Enjoy! (2023-09)
Lovely place for a walk and bird watching. Play equipment and shaded areas however the walk path is not shaded and there are no toilets or water refill stations.
Love this little reserve for a quick walk with the family. It's quiet and has enough to make you feel like you've gone further out of Melbourne than you actually are.

This reserve is big enough for wildlife to habitat. There were wildflowers and birds around this area. Good riverside walks for appreciation of the environment. People walk the dogs there. It has a very relaxing and peaceful environment along the beautiful Swan River. Small children need parental guidance. This is not a suitable place for family activities and picnics. Cheers!
Beautiful nature, lots of BBQ and picnic area, there is a playground. Saw a few people fishing but not sure if there is fish. Nice and quiet in the bush land, had a lovely walk, you can see many birdies :)
What a beautiful spot. I only had a short amount of time here, but it would be well worth spending time walking along this picturesque river and bushland. The footbridge across the river is beautiful, especially at sunset! There is a lovely park area with benches and gazebos. A Perth gem!
1. Great place for you and dog to hang out as there are leashed and off leashed area with enclosed gate for the dogs
2. Water fountain for you and the dog
3. Toilet is available
4. Skate park
5. Bridges with beautiful pelican birds, ducks, swans
6. A long walking routes for on leashed area
7. Kayaking service on the river
8. Canning River Cafe is located here
9. Kids playground and plenty of gazebos for picnic
A nice walk around the lake. Took a few hours of casually strolling. Stopping along the way to see the flora and fauna (wagtails, magpies, larks, ducks, swamp hens, swans, storks, herons, parrots, cockatoos, fish, turtles, waterlizard? , bobtail lizard, snakes, jumping mice and more).

Lots of snakes (tigersnake) on the NW side, where the paths are less travelled.
As a volunteer and Marine scientist who has worked with the turtles at Mon Repos I can tell you I am disgusted with the way the turtles are treated. Hatchings are killed if someone tags them incorrectly, I was told to gouge the mother turtles eyes to stop her from going back in the water. Not when tourists were around of course. They care more about their research data than the actual well being of turtles.
Wonderful time here today, we watched a cinematic tour of turtles, hatchlings, and how we can all do our bit to help these creatures.
Starting one man at a time to becoming a world wide cause.
The cafe offered plenty of choices to eat and drink and the artwork on display was totally stunning, no photography allowed so I cannot add a photo. Go see for yourself, you won't be disapointed. Very helpful staff too. Thank you.
Nice area for a walk or for a run sometimes senior riders came to ride from young to old you can get some peace and serenity here. It is a peaceful place not far from knox shopping center. It is best to see the little ducklings in spring here.
This is a great place, excellent walking, biking, jogging trails with amazing natural scenery.
The place is well looked after by volunteers (Friends of star swamp bushland)
There is an environmental centre (Henderson center) which offers a range of education and it also has an interactive app you can download for information on the history of the place while you walk through its many trails.
The place is very peaceful and is welcome to dog walkers 😊
5 stars 👍
We are now leaving with sad kids and broken hearts! We are a family that travelled across the world for this experience from the United States to Australia with four kiddos hoping to experience this, we attempted to buy tickets and spoke with the representative at the front desk and she was kind and agreed to allow us to watch the turtles hatch! However when she talked to the man in charge, he was the most rude Australian we have met! He made my five year old cry because he said we couldn’t see the turtles.
He was extremely stand off ish with his hands on his hips and yelled at my husband twice to leave.
And when everyone wanted to allow us to wothness the turtles hatching he came out and said he would not allow it!
We may never be back in Australia and I hope this man remembers how he impacted our holiday in Australia. I wish I had his name. But he was on shift on Thursday March 16th,2023
Black hair, thin, tall and oh SOO mean.
Wonderful volunteers, lots of information provided. My husband walks with crutches, we had a volunteer assigned to us who ensured we got the full experience. The Centre itself is world class with displays and images to maintain interest while waiting to head for the beach. Good compromise between turtle conservation and public information and propaganda. Money well spent. I would come again.

I love this place it is so beautiful. I personally love the lakes they have and there are plenty of birds to practice my photography. It's a quiet place so you can relax while listening to different birds chirping every where.
Beautifull, loved it.
5 stars for the magnificent girl laying eggs for her first season. What an amazing thing to experience. It was nature at its best and truly appreciated the opportunity to see it. Just wondering though about the appropriateness of the human contact especially moving the eggs. Was this just part of the tourist show or is it really necessary? Will those eggs survive human interference? Does it happen anywhere else? A little disappointed with how much information the volunteers could offer compared to the marine biologist who took us on a tour with Lady Musgrave tours the day before.

Beautiful natural publis reserve tucked away, and slightly off the beaten track. We enjoyed the full loop walk - approx 2.3 km - that passes two lakes, a flat gravel path, and provides the opportunity for bird watching. Carport area has toilets, seating, tables, limited shelter and information boards. Birdsland is named after settlers - the Birds family - however, there are also plenty of actual birds!

Stunning scenery, particularly on the coastal reserves. However, the place is ruined by the amount of rubbish everywhere. Who drinks beer and just chucks the bottles in the water. The toilets were foul, unusable. Real shame.
Nice walking trail around the park with a few different options. Good option for a walk in the Perth metro area if you don't have time to head out further to a national park. 🚶‍♂️👍
An absolute delight to visit. This area has been really well developed by the local council to celebrate the wonderful natural beauty that the Canning River has to offer. It's combination of quite dirt tracks that preserve well the natural state of the environment, to beautiful paved walks that weave and meander through waterways down to cafes, and indeed past well kept lawns and modern thought-out playgrounds, makes this a wonderful walk for people of all ages to enjoy. I hope it encourages other families to spend time together in a way that's inclusive of all the generations, like it did for mine.

Lovely spot for fishing, breathing sea air, or even just going for a walk..
Did the loop which took about 1.5 hours. Lots to see and heaps of cute ducklings and cygnets. It’s a strict on leash area because of the wildlife but there’s also lots of cyclists and runners. Good amount of shade and sun. Saw some baggies for the dog but no water
Wonderful patch of remnant woodland and a freshwater lake. We saw a large flock of around 50 endangered Black-Cockatoos (Carnaby's or Baudin's, I'm not sure which).

Small boat ramp with some parking. Beach nearby to be able to walk along. A few houses here. Nice place. Narrow single lane bridge to cross to get there. Will come again.
I pay my respects to the Nuungar people their leaders past present and upcoming as the original and traditional custodians of the land. Simply breathtaking and the sounds of nature are all around … the fact you can kayak is a huge bonus. It makes for serene walks even with your pooch

Lovely place driving along the riverside .and stop go for walk 🚶‍♀️ along the reserve. Beautiful pathway around water and Got best Christmas tree 🎄 around December 🥰
An easy walk with beautiful scenery, I recommend doing it just after sunrise.
Lovely walk with great views! Has a moderate amount of steps but nothing too strenuous.
Great board walk with fantastic views of the beach and ocean one side. On the other it overlooks the sand dunes.
🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Fantastic spot for a walk, run or ride!

- 20-30min walk around the lake at a leisurely pace.

- Asphalt shared path.
Another beach area you can enjoy fishing and boating.
Just book or hire or take your own boat and go fishing along with family. Lovely place
Great place for a picnic , go to the water tower museum first ( entry via donation), look at the amazing views from up top.. then have a nice prepackaged lunch with the kid's on the lawn , walking trails are here also. Take note the swamp dries up mostly in Summer so the best time is after the wet periods. Kid's will love it here i know because i grew up here myself as a kid and have always enjoyed this place.
fenced off & closed 22/02 - 05/03.2021
Nice walk along the beach without getting any sand on your feet....
Beautiful little trail around the river. Not too long. Biking will require a mountain bike for some parts if you plan to venture into the reserve.
Can’t get enough of this view. Short and easy walk for all
Every beautiful cycling path around the lake for families, 11km. Birds photo
One of my favorite places in the perth metro to visit for wildflowers, specifically native orchids. Great variety and range of native orchids. Theres a few individual plants that are particularly beautiful.
Am I In the city or at a nature reserve ?? 🤔🤔🤔
Just 30 minutes from Scarbs, I started this most unusual hike. I walked clockwise around the reserve ( my opinion was the best way to do it ). On my right was the beautiful and serene reserve and on my left was the busy of a main road which eventually gave way to upmarket suburbia. The paper bark trees and lake are jaw dropping. It’s really a great walk that took me 3h30 to do the 11 km hike🌟🌟🌟
The enjoyment one feels when fellow hikers nod their heads and give you a warm greeting made this a remarkable experience for me ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
One of the best places to watch the Sunset over the ocean. A fantastic walk connecting Floreat and City Beaches.
Beautiful and relaxing
Nice walk down to the river. Lovely place. Beautiful bit of rain forest.
A fascinating beach that changes so much as you walk it. Starting as golden sand at one end, moving through to shellgrit then pebbles and finally volcanic rock. Beautiful.
Great place to walk and jog. And lots of space for kids to run around and to throw out a picnic rug.
My first foray here was early 2017 and, at the time, it was more like a construction site than a reserve. I returned here quite by accident late 2018 and am impressed with the improvements made. Lovely place for a short walk and was quite beautiful at dusk on this particular Spring day. A few entry points here and there, but I'd recommend parking on Lakewood Drive if you're not arriving on foot.
A very special place. Quite beautiful, quiet and unspoilt.
Fantastic stop, lots of space. Lots of road noise as its just off the highway.Toilets are a long drop, so its smelly, but theres enough paper etc. Its dark, so take light. Bbq areas are clean, fires are allowed with respect of course. Loved this stop! So grateful this is available. 😊
Small camp area but quite good still
Nice place but noisy.
You feel inside a marsh hundreds kilometres from the city. Almost fresh water. Hence, the environment, flora and fauna are different from that around Swan River. There is a car park and playground. However, poor playground is that one
Couldnt get it to see the area
Really enjoyed my walk around here last week. Great unspoiled beach and the water was so warm

Great place for a quiet walk along the river or great for a game of any sort
