Best place to get both Cafe and Chinese food in Nerang, no doubt. There is so much variety and everything I've tried has been delicious! 10/10

Lovely food and friendly service
I recently visited Old Hong Kong for the first time and was blown away by the quality of the food and the unbeatable prices. The all-you-can-eat option for only $28 per person is a steal, especially considering how delicious and fresh everything was. The food came out quickly and was piping hot, which added to the overall experience. Additionally, I appreciated the $2 per year per child pricing, making it an affordable option for families as well. Overall, I highly recommend Old Hong Kong for anyone looking for a great meal at a fantastic price.
The shop is located at Burwood Westfield along side Burwood Road. Walking distance from the Burwood Train station.

Their Dandan Noodles is really delicious 👍!! This tiny restaurant specialises in wontons & noodles, and their prawn toasts are tasty too! I love their Dry Noodle in Scallion Oil, l The noodles seem to be housemade, as there’s great bite to it. I also love Wontons in Special Chilli Sauce, so good!! Friendly service too 😊

There is a significant different between this place at Highland court vs the Asian court place in the same suburb. This is the one to pick! Have been ordering for over a decade.

One star for this restaurant only due to this waiter. Very grumpy and absolutely rude customer service. Does he even know the meaning of friendliness?. He thinks that he is making a favour for us. I was heavily ignored and no response when I said Thank you.

Best Chinese I have ever had, been getting Chinese with them for years now, get delivery most Friday nights to engadine, they always look after us and the food is sooooo good, the man that runs this joint is a legend.

Food taste was ok. In the takeaway boxes, it had more vegetables than the meat. I would expect it’s 60:40 vegetables:meat ratio.

This place is Honestly the best Chinese I've had in my long years here on the Gold coast and that's no lie!! Great Service for just 2 people behind counter and very Friendly for Anyone who goes there.. Me and my family go here every weekend because it's that good 💯☝🏾
This was once a great Chinese Restaurant. We had take away. There was nothing special about the Special Fried Rice. Extremely dissapointed. We might as well of cooked the rice at home. It definitely wasn't wok cooked or taste anything resembling a Chinese Fried Rice. The rice was quite wet and just tasted boiled. The prawn chips were very poor quality and totally tastless. We won't be going back.
Tried for the first time. Never again. Salt and Pepper chicken had grey/black mush inside the batter, tasted disgusting as it looks. Also had cashew chicken, chicken was strange colour and had a stranger odour. When I called the Owner to complain he said he would give me a discount on my next order, when I said I'd never go there again he hung up on me. 1 star is too many.

Ordered three different types of pan fried dumplings (Pork, Beef and Chicken with chives) they were absolutely delicious and jammed pack with flavour. I really loved that they weren’t small dumplings either, they were big and well packed with ingredients.
Their soy sauce comes mixed in with vinegar which was a great addition as well, not to mention the chilli oil that was included was by far some of the best that I’ve tasted. Packs a flavoursome punch of heat.
We’ll definitely be coming back for more than dumplings.

As others have stated, this place looks quite generic from the outside, but the food is hearty and delicious. Nothing fancy, but great for a reliable fuel up! Can't really go wrong with this one :)

Got 3 Takeaway Thai dishes for an easy dinner tonight. Absolutely beautiful, big servings, friendly staff, ready in less than 10 minutes, and even some free spring rolls as a nice surprise!. Will definitely be back!!
Don’t let the unassuming rather plaid looking store front fool you. The food is wholesome and tasty to boot! Portions are also plentiful and you’re sure to exit stuffed!

The best DanDan noodles I’ve had in ages in Sydney!!!! Highly recommended to try. Dishes can be spicy for the chilli intolerant. Serving sizes are great. Prices are descent. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. One waitress/server so can be very busy but she was very friendly. Restaurant itself is tiny and very squishy with minimal seating. Pan fried dumplings were juicy and meaty on the inside and crunchy base on the outside with a perfect thickness wrapper (forgot to take a photo though). And always love a restaurant with condiments on the table for self serve.
I think business must be tough because the Beef Satay Mains I ordered was 90% vegetables with literally 4 pieces of chewy sandwich steak that seemed more boiled than grilled or braised. The most expensive Chinese restaurant in Christie's beach so not just dissappointing, actually insulting. I politely commented to the waitress and she patronisingly responded by saying that the beef is weighed and portioned for every meal they make ,which is basically admitting it's rationed in order to make as much money as possible. To many other decent options in the area so I won't be going back, their loss.
Okay Nanjing / Shanghai style wontons. The Nanjing wontons tasted sour - the meat was not fresh anymore. I hope I won’t have food poisoning afterwards… the soup was delicious though.

Stopped for a snack on the go and ordered the 3x fried dim sims, 2x potato scallops and a coke. $17 is expensive, but I though "that's the Gold Coast!" Staff were friendly, so oh well. First thing I noticed when they handed the bags of food over was the dripping oil! Jumped in the car and headed off, eating on the go. Dim sims first - not bad but EXTREMELY oily! Then the potato scallops. First one wasn't bad, but also very oily, rhen I pulled out the WORST potato scallop I've EVER seen! Don't know what happened, but why would you give this monstrosity to a customer? Will not be back!
We recommend Sydney Dumpling King for a quick and hearty meal when in Burwood. The highlight of our visit were the ribbon noodles with chilli garlic oil. They were bursting with flavour and frankly one of the most enjoyable dishes I have had since visiting Sydney. Surprisingly the dumplings were rather average.
First time in Burwood and went for a quick pre-movie dinner at this place. Had the ‘famous’ Shanghainese noodles which was a bit ‘basic’ but the slighlty fried dumplings were yummy. The menu was extensive and would probably visit again to try other specialties and when not pressed for time.
I highly recommend the Dandan noodles, very delicious and not too spicy. I really like the chewy texture of the noodles. The food here is above average with good portions, reasonable prices and quick service.

The worst Chinese take away I have ever had. The Mongolian Lamb was definitely not ‘lamb’ we all commented that it tasted weird and have kept some in the fridge incase we all end up in hospital - the honey chicken was some stringy who knows what? Dim sims were a ball of glug and sauce was jelly, but the spring rolls, Fried & boiled rice were ok. Would never buy from here again.

I find myself eager to return and indulge in their delicious offerings again. This restaurant is now a top choice for my future Chinese cuisine cravings.
I had high hopes for the food here considering all the great reviews. I ordered the Satay beef and Pork in Peking sauce plus and Special fried rice. The satay beef was the most disappointing, the beef was over velveted to a point where it no longer tasted like beef, though the sauce was good. The pork and fried rice were passable, but not in a hurry to order either again. Delivery took over an hour on a weeknight which would have been ok if the food was good.
Absolutely delicious, I would like to give compliments to the chefs and the front-of-house team, we ordered 1 portion of lobster, barramundi and egg york prawns. Their service was so attentive and friendly. We were so full to have the duck, which is one of their signatures as well. Strongly recommend to everyone
The atmosphere here is very casual so don't expect anything less. Food is amazing for the buffet price and comes out quickly and hot every time. My reluctance for 5 stars is as follows: I knew I was overcharged but didn't bother arguing about it ($28 x2 plus $10 child 10 and under...he charged me $12), we ordered only 3 waters and 3 cans of pasito which definitely didn't come to an extra $30. I felt it was worth tipping the guy $50 but he just snatched it out of my hand without a second thought or thank you for my kindness (I WORKED FOR THAT MONEY MATE). My wife wants to return here but I don't think we will
We ordered takeaway two nights ago 25 January. My husband had the roast duck and I think he liked it. I ordered Kung Po Chicken but it was disappointingly bland. I've had it before, a few months ago, and it was so spicey hot I had a struggle to eat it but it was enjoyable. This time it completely lacked the chilli peppers, and I've since discovered that kung po should have peanuts. Cashews were a substitute but I missed the spiciness of the chillies. Very disappointed with my Kung Po Chicken. Tossing whether we will go back.

Just ordered the chicken fried rice for lunch, it was a very decent serving size, could feed two adults conservatively but a really big serve for a single person WAHOOO all of the carbs and goodness for my gym session after work.
I was greeted and served with a big smile by a friendly man at the counter and it really made my day, so thank you for the delicious food and great smile and good energy, always feels nice eating somewhere that has a good positive feel to it.

I don’t normally leave bad reviews, preferring to leave only good ones, however as someone that loves Chinese food, this was tasteless and servings were not great value for the price, and I really felt like I had to warn others as this was extremely disappointing.
The only nice thing here are the young women working the counter. Honey chicken was chewy as hell and their veggie rice was bright yellow and bland and undercooked and i felt sick all night. They used to be good but they don't care at all about serving delicious food anymore.
Food was disgusting. Sweet pork was over cooked. Sweet sour chicken was deep fried batterd but chicken snitzy. With small amoumt of sauce in bottom of tub. Not even enough to coat the chicken. Dim sum was big pork ball fried in batter. Would never order from here again. Satay chicken stick Was a tender and tuff. Not even my husband who eats anything would eat any of it.
The owner Teresa is an absolute wonderful lady. Her staff are greatly mannered and the food was magnificent. I held my wedding reception there of over 40 people and they tended to our every need. I couldn't have been in better hands than there's. This is definitely on everyone's must go list BEST CHINESE IN THE WORLD !
Gave 1 star because my corona was cold and tasted like beer, the only thing that did taste as it should have. Yellow fried rice was bland and tasteless. Lemon chicken had a sour taste, but nit lemon sour and every item of food was stone cold and we ate in. I regret not reading the reviews prior and without doubt the worst Chinese we both have ever eaten. Might as well rip up the 65 dollars and throw it on the road. 90 percent of both meals left on the table, and we walked out.

My order was takeaway for one person. Short soup very tasty but my combination omelette was the best....plenty of good sized prawns, delicious pork and veggies.. . Very Impressed...would recommend.
Been living in Menai for years and never tried this Chinese food but this is definitely the best Chinese food in Menai / Bangor/ illawong ! I was having illawong for years but recently they have unfortunately lower the standards with new owners. The food was packed and they didn’t cut back in the meat on the food which is appreciated. The only thing is they need to change into a traditional special fried rice as it’s too plan and white so not enough browness, need to add pork and chicken and egg so definitely need to improve and change the style of fried rice like the other styles used in Chinese restaurants but the other food 10/10

Unfortunately didn't get a picture of everything but love the food here - reasonable prices, good flavours and great service. XLB is probably my favourite here and one of the best I've had around. The rice and noodle dishes are also very tasty. The only thing I could pick at is I would prefer if the saltiness of the dishes were toned down a little. Recommend the tofu as well and worth trying the mango pancakes 🥭

4.4 - Delightful busy little eatery where I dropped by to try the Fish Roe Wontons, Jellyfish Salad and Radish Cakes (I've also tried the Pork, Prawn Wonton Noodle Soup). The wontons were delicious although the soup was quite peppery - unsure if this is MSG taste or Pepper and I didn't like the noodle. The highlight is that the food is quite clean, not much oil or sauce. I liked the cosy little atmosphere although note that the tables are small and you may not have space to place your bag or jacket. Service-wise, even though I had just ordered, they gave my Jellyfish Salad to another table, plonking it into their hands, and it was passed around a bit before they realised and came back for it. That was the part that wasn't so good for me. Hoping it is a once off but I will definitely be back again - I loved their Radish Cakes - they're a little different to the ones at Yum Cha. Presentation and Effort lacking for Takeaway Radish treats. A good restaurant maintains the same standard.

Special fried rice was definitely most on the “special” side than on the “fried rice” side of things, rice was yellow and under cooked, was more crunchy than soft, my friend said it tasted like corn not that there was any of that in there just a lot of peas which although may have been frozen we perhaps over cooked separately, the lemon chicken was dry and crunchy also didn’t taste of lemon, the sweet and sour pork wasn’t very “sweet or sour” both of the main meals also were lacking the usual vegetables mixed through them. Definitely not willing to go there again after spending over $60, would have been better getting 3 pizzas from elsewhere at least they would have gotten eaten!

Had dinner before our movie Saturday night , only because our two favourite places were closed . Never been here before and never again . Order beef and oyster sauce , Malay chilli beef and sambas chicken . The two beef dishes had a horrible pungent smell , like the meat was off . I didn’t want to even try it for fear of being ill . I don’t like to say this but they actually stank ! All three dishes were identical with the same veg and cornflour slurry . Worst food I’ve come across!! I didn’t take a photo of the other meal but this is the insipid fried rice .
Bought 2 servings of satay chicken mains and a special fried rice. The satay chicken tasted nothing like satay at all and basically was just plain chicken with tumeric put on it. Absolutely bland and flavourless for almost $50!!! What an absolute rip off for a disgusting meal. The food was also extremely greasy like there was a cup of oil poured into the container. My refund was denied (we ate none of the food) and the woman could barely speak english and just rambled about how their "satay main is the same as their skewers" which is a lie because my mother in law ordered before us and our meals look completely different!
Chinese dumplings are plentiful in the promised land that is Burwood, but many I've asked have pointed me in the direction of Sydney Dumpling King as their top pick! The problem with Burwood though is that there are way too many good restaurants beckoning for you to eat at. After several years of having this place on my hitlist, i finally made it here for lunch!
The dumplings here are done well, and are very affordable. 15 dumplings will set you back anywhere between $16-19. Add an extra $3 if you want it fried. The cool part is you can order two different types of fillings in one serving if you like - something I wish I knew before I ordered! They have some rather interesting filling options here like pork with eggplant or fish with sweet corn. It's hard to look past the classic pork with chive and beef with chive on your first visit to a dumpling restaurant though... "One boiled and one fried please!"
We also took on an order of soup dumplings (xiao long bao) and some pan-fried pork buns too. They have a house-made chilli oil on every table that you can add to your dipping sauce. The dumplings themselves were really good. The fillings were flavourful, meaty, and the skin was of a medium thickness, a nice soft bite to them. I definitely think the fried dumplings and the xiao long bao were the best orders of the day. I probably wouldn't order the pan-fried pork buns again though. I felt like the fillings in these didn't have as much of a pork meat taste compared to the dumplings.
I wouldn't say it's my absolute favourite dumpling spot in Sydney, but the dumplings are certainly up there with the better ones! Would happily come back to try other fillings.

They have some rather interesting filling options here like pork with eggplant or fish with sweet corn. It's hard to look past the classic pork with chive and beef with chive on your first visit to a dumpling restaurant though... "One boiled and one fried please!"
We also took on an order of soup dumplings (xiao long bao) and some pan-fried pork buns too. They have a house-made chilli oil on every table that you can add to your dipping sauce. The dumplings themselves were really good. The fillings were flavourful, meaty, and the skin was of a medium thickness, a nice soft bite to them. I definitely think the fried dumplings and the xiao long bao were the best orders of the day. I probably wouldn't order the pan-fried pork buns again though. I felt like the fillings in these didn't have as much of a pork meat taste compared to the dumplings.
I wouldn't say it's my absolute favourite dumpling spot in Sydney, but the dumplings are certainly up there with the better ones! Would happily come back to try other fillings.

The place looks like a usual Asian restaurant. But the service, quality of food and the flavour makes this restaurant set itself apart. If you like a bit of spice, try their Nasi Goreng. I reckon it's the best in the state.
The food is OK but the service is fantastic. They are really nice. It's a good local suburban old school Chinese restaurant. I had prawns and vegetables and a dish called Billy Kee chicken which apparently has history in Sydney Chinese food. It was nice tasty and deep fried. I reccomend getting old school dishes like sweet and sour pork etc. The atmosphere is old school. Try it out.

Gross food here now. The fried rice was super salty, the sauce on the plum beef was so strange, vegetables over cooked, squid chewy. Thrown out.

If I could give this restaurant no stars I would. Me and a friend went to eat dinner here a few weeks back and had the worst experience. We ordered a prawn dish for our main and when it arrived it still had the poo shoots attatched, hadn’t been washed and were dirty. When we explained this to the manager and other staff they simply shrugged their shoulders and denied any responsibility and instead blamed it on their “supplier”. We said that it is not a problem with the supplier as they are the ones who are preparing and cooking the food. They continued to either ignore us, talk about us amongst themselves and deny any accountability. It is absolutely disgusting and not to mention completely unhygienic to be serving dishes with the poo shoots still attached to the prawns. They then expected us to pay full price for the meal and eventually gave us a 10% discount. We should have just walked out. I was actually sick the following two days from that horrific meal. I am truly dumbfounded by this whole experience and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Restaurant is big and spacious with ample seating. Meals are great for sharing (I would say 8 people would be the best number) as most of the dumplings come out in sets of 8 😉

Ordered hot & sour soup.what I got was a pot of ??? As soon as I took the lid off, the smell was of rotting meat. It was thick with egg, disgusting. Nothing like what this soup should be. So disgusting I reported to the health department
Very friendly staff and a great variety of vegan options! Prices are also very reasonable for the amount of food you get per meal. And as a nice bonus, they have bubble tea!
We had a rare date night and gave this place a try , very disappointed, outside says $21 we were told no vegetables have gone up so much now it’s $25 so we were ok with until apart from a broccoli head divided into 4 very small meals a slice of zucchini and two strips of cabbage the same ,no onion carrotts beans nothing , the chicken well it’s debatable it was chicken was basically just presented in three different sauces 4 crispy noodles in one rice with bacon in another the only thing we enjoyed sweet and sour pork which was nice , we didn’t like the fact we were watched by the old lady constantly coming out and looking at us made us feel very uncomfortable, we left all chicken dishes they were inedible so was the child portion of beef , dirty walls with works all over them , mould on the roof , sticky tables and floor dated furniture surprised this has not been shut down only good thing was the son at the counters manners , sadly we feel a waste of our date night , waste of $50 and we were both I’ll for 24 hours after so never again the only customers in the place on Saturday night I advised there needs to be more vegetables not just watery chicken he said they took expensive for extra he can add them ? I guess as they were busy, they did not really care if we were happy or not, but over 2 hours is just too long to wait for your meal. My advice if you really want Chinese food here is: Do not book a table, they really did not seem to care how long you will wait. We had McDonald's on the way home!

kept us waiting over an hour for food when they said 25 mins and our other restaurant order from next door was stone cold by the time we got home. they should have been honest about the wait time as everyone else seemed to be waiting over an hour than originally told to. sorry but won’t be coming back here ever again!!
Excellent service and fantastic food. Our family all enjoyed the dishes we ordered being very tasty and light and not too oily or gloopy like many Chinese restaurants. The dishes arrived really quickly and the serving sizes were generous. They were most accommodating reducing the spiciness of the Mongolian Beef dish for my mother They even gave my father a replacement wine glass without charge after he spilled it and without us even asking. First rate.
4.4 - Came by and tried the Hot & Sour soup again but they have changed the recipe to be more peppery and I didn't enjoy it. However, loved the Fish & Coriander Dumplings - the sweetness of the fish was delish!

What a lovely place to dine in! Friendly service in a picture perfect location, and the food is simply divine. The meat is so perfect and the flavour and spice just explodes in your mouth, can't wait to try everything on the menu
Great chinese food! They were very accommodating to us being vegetarian. Fantastic service and lovely staff. They've tried their best during Covid-19 and I would encourage everyone to support their business! 5 stars from me :)

We tried this legendary place at Burwood recently for a quick lunch. We ordered their staple e.g. pork meatball soup, pork-mince rice and their famous pork & coriander fried dumplings. We love all dishes especially the dumplings. Their prices are very good value for your money but you're recommended to pay cash since they apply a harsh flat surcharge of $1 for CC payments. This kind of flat charge may even be illegal in Australia.
On a second visit, we ordered their famous shallot pancake, hot & sour soup and pork, prawn & mushroom dumplings. Their dumplings and pancake were very good, while the soup was just OK.
On our first visit after Sydney lock-down lifted, we tried their shallot-oil noodles. It was nice dish, and we love the noodles especially.

Have only ever had takeaway from here but it's our go to Chinese food place, now since moving we make the trip maybe once a month or so to go pick some up. Absolutely love it.

We go to this restaurant regularly and it's usually always busy of a Saturday night. Very nice food and friendly staff. A reasonably small restaurant but cosy adding to its charm. Highly recommended. I overheard a group of 4 middle aged patrons commenting on the price and couldn't believe they got change out of $80 for the four of them. Recommend making a reservation for Saturday night. It's also BYO.
