HuTong

We had a perfect lunch today. Whilst catching up with colleagues in Melbourne, we opted for HuTong. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the tastiness of the dishes and friendliness of the staff. Will be back

These chicken wings were so good that we came back twice. And since our visit in January, we have been trying unsuccessfully to find a restaurant that makes the fried chicken wings with dry chili and peanuts.

The Kai Lan was too salty for both of us.. The Honey chicken and dumplings were all right. But the table and sitting chairs was too small for us 🤭🤭 or I am too big for the chair and table.... After we have ordered four dishes there was no more extra places to place our food. So we need to eat the dumplings quickly and finish our meal quickly. At least have a chance to visit so call one of the 25 's " famous" Chinese restaurant in Melbourne.

We had two rounds of dishes served, first being juicy baos and dumplings and second with pan fried dishes. I have to say the quality is great, we thoroughly enjoyed every dish.

Do yourself a favor: make a reservation, be on time, and order the xiao long bao. The best you’ll have outside of Asia. People don’t come here for Michelin star service - if you come with high expectations for service, you will be disappointed. Come with an appetite and ready for the dumplings: xlb, and the fried ones. Make them swim in chili sauce and vinegar. Get the fried rice and the spicy fried chicken. Your head will spin after a phenomenal meal.

There are many other better places than this one.
👎 Shao long bao had a thick outer cover - Go to a local place like Shanghai Street or Juicy Bao
👎 Chinese brocolli had only stems ( almost no leaves)
👍 Wonton and Pan fried dunplings were good
👍 Soups were ok

No 👌 dish

They served wrong twice for a table of 2

Also, didn't give me the option to say no to tip - kind of moved ahead and said - how much would you like to tip?

Not returning!

The food wasn't bad. However, the service to the customers was very unfriendly, so I never wanted to go again.
The first one was discrimination against those who reserved and those who didn't. I was very surprised by the different ways of serving customers.
The second one was that even though there were two people, if we ordered more than two dishes, there was no room for the food on the table. I was uncomfortable throughout the meal, and we couldn't fill our hunger, so we ended up going to another restaurant to eat.
