⭐️ Betel Leaf, Seared Scallop
✔️ BBQ Chicken Skewer
✔️ Chargrilled Wagyu Beef Skewer, Cashew Nut Cream
➖ Stir Fried Calamari
✖️ Yellow Curry, Charred Lamb Shoulder
➖ Jasmine Rice

Longrain is a modern, fusion Thai restaurant located at the top end of Little Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Although originally opening in Melbourne in 2005, it was was bought by @scottpickettchef (@matilda159domain, @estellenorthcote, @chancerylanebistro) in 2020. 🇹🇭

The venue itself is huge and absolutely stunning, hues of green dressing an old converted horse stable from the 1900’s. There is a combination of private and long communal dining tables, which goes hand in hand with their share-style menu. Order A La Carte or go with a Banquet for $89pp.

Cocktails were great, I loved their version of a Negroni and another popular one is their Phuket Pash. My favourite dish was the Betel Leaf with Seared Scallop, it was so flavourful and spicy! The rest of the dishes were nice but I did expect more.

The BBQ Chicken Skewer had a delicious sauce but on the dry side. The Wagyu Beef Skewer was tasty, loved the Cashew Nut Sauce, I did expect pieces but it was almost like a long thin strip. The Calamari was so spicy we almost had tears in our eyes, a warning would’ve been great haha! The Yellow Curry and rice both too bland for me.

If you are dining pre-theatre, they are very good at getting you in an out on time, they even had a specific 5:30pm seating and area for this. They also keep half of their dining area available for walk ins! During December Longrain are taking part of homelessness initiative DineSmart 2023, so a $2 donation is added to every bill. Relax Karen, if you don’t want to, you can opt out. 😉

My final thoughts: It’s a vibey venue, great service and menu. Execution was off this visit but I would still try again, I have visited their upstairs venue @longsong and experienced delicious food, so I know what they are capable of!

A Melbourne staple. Cool dining area in the CBD that was previously a horse stable back in the day. Its fairly condensed menu has you covered for Asian flavours. I really enjoyed the egg net snow crab dish which is amazing to look at and delicious to boot. We were seated at the bar since we were a random walk in and didn't have a booking, but that didn't detract in any way from the experience and we were seated almost immediately. The friendly bar staff took care of us throughout. I can recommend this place if you want something Asiany but are not sure what exactly.. their menu will show you the way.

Went to Longgrain more than 15 years ago and Melbourne food scene is so amazing that never really clicked to go back. Really enjoyed the lunch and had the betel leaf scallops, calamari, som tum and lamb curry. All the dishes were amazing! Be back soon to try their signature fried fish dish! Yum yum!!
Really great food with an awesome taste.
Saturday night table of seven. We had to ask to get drinks, ask to get ordered taken, after watching a couple of tables get served before us, ask to get served dinner, as we hadn't been served a single item.( with a movie to get to) Then it was hap hazard mains and appetizer's thrown at our table, With us all eating different courses and at different times. One of our appetizer's happened to be the last item to the table. Two hours later and we were done, in shock and asking of our selves what just happened.
PS: could have done with better day core and some music to improve ones experience too.

Having visited Longrain restaurant several times, I can confidently say that the food has never disappointed me.
One standout dish that I highly recommend is the "eggnet" which not only impresses with its presentation but also delivers on taste. Another highlight at Longrain is the crispy whole fish. The perfectly cooked fish with its crispy exterior is a testament to the kitchen's skill.

One of the many new Thai establishments around the top of Bourke street. You can get individuals or share dishes here. We ordered a number of small entrees with pad Thai and dry tom yum noodles as main. Out of the 4 entrees we ordered, only the stir fry cabbage that is pretty good and the rest is just okay. The pad Thai is a little wet if you like that style but the star was the dry tom yum noodles otherwise I would've rated this place as a 3 stars for food. The service was really slow when we were there although it wasn't a full house, most probably because they just recently opened.

We were greeted so nicely by your front of house staff member and then we enjoyed the most delicious food. The beetle leaf was the highlight, although every dish was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant. All the staff were fabulous ☺️
I’m very very disappointed with the food the beef was rubbery when you chew it’s like you eating a bumble gum. The service is very very slow there’s no other customers it was just us chicken curry was spicy couldn’t eat it they didn’t tell us in there menu value for money it’s not worth going to this restaurant there’s more Thai place in Gold Coast more better then this. I’m sorry to say the customer service was very slow.

We were out for an evening walk and stumbled across this place which was a nice surprise! It is small inside and the ambience downstairs is lovely. Unfortunately there were no free tables there so we had to sit upstairs which doesn’t have the same vibe as downstairs. Having said that, the food was delicious and spicy. We had the fish cakes, green chicken curry with jasmine rice and seafood pad thai. If upstairs had the same vibe as downstairs I would have given this review a 5 star ⭐️

We were looking for a nice Thai restaurant and came across this place. The food and service were outstanding. We picked 4 dishes to share between two of us at $38 per head. Very reasonable price, highly recommend.
Beautiful Thai Restaurant, I would highly recommend this place if you’re wanting genuine beautiful Thai food. The atmosphere is so nice and cosy and the staff were very lovely. This is our first time in Adelaide and our first night out for dinner and it did not disappoint. 10/10 for food, atmosphere and service.

Me and my partner went here tonight for our first-year wedding anniversary. From the time we arrived, we received first class service. The food was great and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. If you are looking a Thai food in Adelaide I would 100% recommend here. See you next time.
Yummy food and nice ambience. We have ordered vegetarian green curry thai and pad thai chicken and tom yum soup vegetarian. Must visit if you are in Adelaide.
Great portion. I ordered a three course dish and had to take way. Food is so good. I had minced chicken with eggplant + Pork belly with shrimp paste+ Panang curry chicken. Everything was yummy and spicy~~
Love this place. Good is amazing, never had a bad dish.

We had dinner at this Thai restaurant on Wednesday night. As all Thai are lovely people to us, we found them exactly like that.
Service was lovely, polite, food was great. Wish we were more hungry as we really love Thai food.
They are not licensed, which we didn't know, so byo with you.
Very reasonable prices and yummy food.
Khàawp-khun khâ..
Worst Thai food we ordered peanut sauce pork stir fry the pork is boiled and no sauce. The mixed entrée absolutely appalling chicken is boiled and no sauce and the fish cake burnt. Garlic & pepper stir fry prawns again no sauce and the vegetables were raw. When I rang and complained the manager just said she would pass on the feedback to the kitchen. The manager didn't really care . This restaurant is in a tourist area and has a lot of passing trade and they don't care about the food they sell . Save your money and go elsewhere. I am a local and will never go there again.
Beautiful food and amazing service. I can't wait to come back to Melbourne so I can eat here again! We ordered the caramelized tofu, crab eggnet and Thai green vegetable curry and could not fault any of these dishes. My cocktail (Gin Sin?) was delicious. Loved everything about the building, the lighting and all shades of green made for a great experience...it was gorgeous.

Could not fault our visit to this popular restaurant. We were taken here by our brother and his partner and it is their go to for visitors and I can see why. I had the green curry and the flavours were fantastic and tasting the other dishes they were flavoursome and filling.
We will definitely be back on our next visit.
This place reminds me of the real taste of Thai food! The prices are friendly, so you can choose a lot of choices of foods.

Ps.Tom Yum is the real taste of Thailand. I have tried a lot of Tom Yum, but I think this restaurant is the best.

There are so many choices you can choose. The food tastes like in Thailand. Authentic and delicious. Crispy pork here is the best!!🥹 I've been here more than 5 times and will keep going back.
This place is honestly underrated! I love my spicy food and this place hits the spot! I love that the meals change everyday!
Great if you want cheap eats in a hurry. Only opens for lunch on weekdays, the selection is different each day although they will almost always have Thai basil stir-fry.
Great range of dishes.

Affordable and delicious Thai cuisine, but the table service was poor. We got our food after 2 couples (who came in after us) received theirs.

We ordered:
🥢 Khao Soi w/ Chicken
🥢 Som Tum Thai Salad
🥢 BBQ Chicken (received BBQ Pork)

🍺 Singha on tag

Khao Soi soup had a smooth and creamy texture, served with a generous about of chicken that was falling off the bone. The noodles were al dente and had a great consistency. Honestly, the best Khao Soi we’ve eaten in Melbourne.

Som Tum Thai was fresh, crunchy, spicy, salty, sour and sweet. Bold flavour as you would expect from a Thai salad.

We ordered BBQ Chicken, but we ended up with BBQ Pork somehow. We didn’t want to wait again for another plate so we ate what it was brought out.
The pork was cooked well and the tamarind dipping sauce served on the side elevated the dish.
If it wasn’t for the confused and slow table service, we would have been very happy with this restaurant.

Visited with family 6th May 2023. Food was very nice but I only gave 1 star because - my Beef Pad Thai was missing quite a lot of beef. 4 very small bits of beef in the whole meal. Called manager and she couldn't give 2 hoots about it. She said we put 100 grams of meat in every Pad Thai we send out. I said no way was there 100 grams in my meal and she just walked away. If you call something a Beef meal - put some beef into it. I bought 100 grams of ham today from a shop. 6 slices of ham so I'm all set for a nice sarnie tonight for tea and will give this place a miss.
Randomly try this shop when look out for dining.

Ordered 7 dishes but 3 of them were good so 2 stars.

Staff friendly, attentive but kitchen food came out not even, they bring out 3 dishes to the counter in every 10 minutes. Please speed up.

Beer tap is good, price reasonable.

Deep fried crab: sauce was nice, crab came out cold and not crispy
Fresh oysters: good combination, sate is nice, I had 2 which is fine, my husband had the last piece and it’s not completely clean. Their still sandy underneath. Yes for me and no for him.
Deep fried pork belly: ok
Pork cheek grilled: ok, generous portions
Papaya salad mixed with raw seafood: looks super odd, papaya turns pale, cabbage starts to darken. Old veggies, salad sauce is super salty, salted eggs look old. Overall terrible.
Tomyum prawns: had the taste of light coconut milk, water and tomyum paste. I think kitchen staff forgot to seasoning it, taste blanched and exactly what I described.
Green curry chicken: this one is just over seasoning, too much salt, no taste of green curry only coconut milk.

I pay the meal with cash, it’s my own money so I’m not seeding, hope you take this comment to step up your games. Otherwise, your next door is much better. You are competing with Heng, Nana and Pinto, and you’re far behind.

Cheers.
Staffs are very welcoming and friendly, but the we didn’t enjoy our food. We ordered Basil Beef that taste like the beef have been soaking in blood, a very strong gamey smell. Thai fried rice was quite bad too, I don’t taste any flavour in this dish, probably they just frying the rice with soy sauce. Honestly I never expected the food to be authentic but I also never imagine the food can be so bad. Price is reasonable for this quality.
A few friends and I went here for dinner and we had excellent food and great service.

Staff are terrific and value is pretty good. Get there early, or you will have to wait a bit for your food!

The Best Thai food we've ever had. Everything was delicious, great service. Absolutely loved it.
Went for a couple dining. In contrary to images portrayed the places is super tiny. Can feel a strong “wok hay”.

We ordered all mild spice Drunken noodles, Fried rice, Satay chicken, Red curry chicken and plain rice (this never came though). Order took 45 minutes, would have been still a 5 star rating if not for the food. I have had real Thai food from Thailand.

Everything was sweet, super umami and salty. Couldn’t feel the taste of any meet. Satay chicken was basically steamed chicken and veges with a sprinkle satay sauce. We eat big, but with this amount of salt and having to sleep before work without needing to drink water all night, had to leave after a few nibbles.

Not recommended! Wasted $90.

Staff was nice! I’d give them that. This star is for you guys.

Food wise - great for the price and it tasted amazing however we ordered our food and we didn't receive it for almost 40 minutes after we ordered - now I am assuming this is because we ordered the "Freaking hot" when it came to spice and the bottom floor of the restaurant was full of customers. Ours was cooked once the bottom floor was cleared of customers and I walked through through the area to use the bathroom and when I say you can taste the air... You are legit tasting the spice haha it was great though.

All in all while the waiting was a little frustrating because we were hungry and had been there for almost 2 hours by that point it was still a great experience and the staff were so friendly.

It's a great little hidden gem.

Consistently bad. l have gone here a few times to give them a chance but their speciality is to not offer you anything decent always. They need drastic improvement if they want to compete with the other two very good Thai joints in the same food court. I’m done buying food from this joint.

Very small shop with more seatings upstairs. Bit run down and old. The soft shell crab was really good. Crispy. Yellow curry was very small with little meat in it. Pad Thai chicken tasted yummy. Basil stir fry has more vegetables than meat portion. Overall, food is alright, but not amazing. Staff was not very attentive. Had to grab menus ourselves and he didn't know to take away empty plates that have been left on the side of the table.
Why take a booking for 2 for 8pm at night if you know you close your kitchen at 9pm. Wouldn't you say no to people booking giving this information. Went for dinner totally unaware having our main went to order our dessert to only be told we are closed ..we were not asked approached or advised of this at any time ruined the whole evening and dining experience
Visited before a show I was in at Goodwood Theatre. The staff were super accommodating considering our group of 6 has no reservation. They had several options that could be made vegan. The food was delicious and very decently priced. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Can’t fault it. Tasty, fiery dishes on a budget. Sadly only open on weekdays.

Super authentic Thai food, loved everything we have ordered: entrees (spring rolls and money bags), mains (massaman beef curry and ho-mok talay), sides (garlic fried rice and jasmine rice). Our mains are amazing: hands down the best massaman beef curry we ever had (3 hours slow-cooked beef in herbs and massaman curry did make a huge difference in the texture and flavor of the beef), and the Ho-mok talay (steamed seafood and veges with red curry sauce and egg) was an absolute delight. This was the first time we had Ho-mok talay and were impressed with the taste profile (love it so much that we ended up ordering another bowl of rice to have with the sauce, yum). Highly recommended and we will be back next time we are in Geelong!

Genuine Thai cuisine, very fast service and lovely open air atmosphere. Highly recommend 👌
Another tasty Thai food can be found in Paramount Food Court. Managed by DoDee Paidang, one of the famous Thai restaurant, KhaoKang serves their dishes differently. Buy one main and rice for $10, 2 mains for $12, and a full serve for $15, they serve on average 5 to 6 dishes per day vary from the famous curry until a mixed of vegetable.

Unfortunately, despite all the deliciousness, they only open for less than 6 hours on the weekdays which makes it hard for a full time worker to taste it freshly. In substitute, they provide frozen meals which can be found in DoDee Paidang restaurant or by delivery.

I had the 2 mains with rice today, with squid and beans with shrimp paste and pork belly. Both were sinfully delicious and pocket friendly. Can't want to try other dishes next time.

On august 14 Sunday night 6.30 ish for dinner the food was great BUT The service was poor we were the first table to be there and three more table came soon after. two had there on trays and Main and finsh before we had even had our main meal. Also there was no kids meals it would have been great to have something for our little one instead of ordering two set of on trays because one was a little to spice for our little one .
And a little more advice HAVE More stuff on so you don't have one guy running all over the place trying he best to do the take away, front of house, and phone orders.
I will say this the food was great BUT it's let down by what happened tonight which is a shame.

An amazing Thai restaurant - great food, staff and service. My favourite is Bangkok Beef which is served sizzling on a hot plate with vegetables. Pairs well with jasmin rice. Fried rice with chicken is so delicious and mango curry is yum. I think they have halal meat so I’ll recommend asking ahead. Prices are on the higher end but worth it for an occasional treat. I have dined here many times over the years and would recommend it.

They seemed quick to take my order and my money. Sadley the food took over 40 mins then I was told they had only one of the two dishes I had ordered. I was so hungry I just took the green curry which was basically some cut up veges in a watery liquid. Could have bought a green curry paste from the supermarket and done a better job.
This place was really nice - I loved the lamb green curry, and the lychee mocktail tasted awesome too!!! The toilets were quite a trek from the main restaurant space, and they didn't appear to be wheelchair accessible as they were down a flight of stairs (I couldn't find an elevator but there could be one), so you might need to keep that in mind if it affects you.
Went here for dinner and had a good experience. We love their Thai pink milk tea.
Best Thai food we’ve had in years. The green curry fish with veggies and coconut rice were so tasty and traditional, we felt transported to Asia. We also tried the delicious lychee and lime mocktail. Staff were very friendly and prices very reasonable. We’d go back anytime.

Nice and fast. Serving is generous for the price and felt it was made fresh too. Unlike most of the places these days where they pre-cook it and store it.
Beautiful restaurant that has inside and outside dining.Staff were helpful. Food was ok, just not authentic. SomTham papaya salad was very disappointing. Lacks zing and crunch. Pad Thai was the only dish that made it, with generous amounts of crushed peanuts (better if roasted). Most of the dishes were not spicy at all.
Beautiful old house transformed into a a restaurant. The outdoor space is nice and elegant. The inside is typical Thai dining with Thai sculptures and artwork. The service was very good! Girls were always smiling and happy to help.
I ordered a chicken curry panang and it was nice not too grease with lots of vegetables and enough for maybe 2 small servings. The seafood mix was good too very very mild and with lots of cashews and vegetables.
Great prices! Curry goes for around 14 dollars and appetizers goes for 7 to 9 dollars.
Great experience!

I don’t want to even give a star! Really bad service and I was using EatClub to get 35%off discount when we arrived. When we ordered at the counter like they asked, he didn’t apply the discount. When they serviced our food i asked them that we didn’t get the discount, so the waiter or the chef said they will figure it out. But there was no answer still when we finished our dinner, I think maybe they just want to ignore us. It’s not a big money but definitely will not go back again. The worst experience ever in Melbourne.

Nice Thai food restaurant at Geelong town! It open at after lunch hour too!!! There is toilet which need to walk beside of the walking path to another building beside with key request from the staff! Free drinking water as well!!!
First of the service was really good. Very friendly and the decor warm, clean and inviting. Food came out without waiting for a long time which is always good.

The only problem is that the portion size is so small for the astronomical prices they are charging! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay for food but there has to be a fair balance between what you get (size) and or the quality or uniqueness, which unfortunately is not here (plenty of other similar places with similar food).

Please adjust your prices or keep the prices and adjust the portion size to reflect what you get.
Excellent food. Tasty. Meat, prawn and vegetables all top quality.
Flavors were great.
Service was good.
Lovely atmosphere 🙂
Love this place, food is always made fresh for your order, lots of vegetables and protein of choice. Prices are great, staff are wonderful, huge variety of food choices. Spices and chilli can be adapted to your liking. Book ahead as they are often busy. Easy oarking and bathrooms ok. Dining outside as well.
