Hochi Mama

Nice Asian fusion restaurant.

I liked:
+good food
+some nice vegetarian options
+big portions
+cool interior

I disliked:
-very loud due to bad acoustics. I could barely hear the waiters.
-our main waitress seemed annoyed. Not sure why, we were friendly. Nothing she did in particular, just body language and face gestures.

Following high reviews and late business hours then we came from Epping downtown, service is great and warm, caring us if right to eat. Chicken bau is not affordable to miss, satay chicken is delicious though not looking fine, stir noodles are average. Overall ambience is good.

We visited Hochi Mama on Valentine’s Day because they offered a set menu that was almost exactly what we would have ordered anyways. Such yummy food sleuth those fusion flavours that I will always come back again and again. For me the duck curry is a must as is the kingfish sashimi.

We both hadn’t tried their pandan dessert before but are converts and loved it.

Trendy Asian eats with high costs attached.
Plenty of options and has a nicely priced sharing deal, which as a meat eater and a veggo didn't quite gel.
However food was lovely plated and tasted pretty decent though I qualified no coriander *the devil s pubic hair * and got it

The atmosphere and overall vibes was great. The food wasn’t bad but it was overly sweet and after a while all we could taste was the sweetness.

The bathrooms could be more clean and could also use hooks to hang bags.

Had a great experience at Hochi Mama and will certainly be going back. Great food with a ton of exotic flavours and each dish was plated beautifully. Brilliant atmosphere. I couldn't fault the service by the staff who served the meals in ample succession with the name of each dish being mentioned on delivery. They were very attentive to whether we wanted anything else to drink as well as keeping our water glasses full. Suitable background music was playing. Would certainly recommend this place!

I was disappointed with our meal tonight, our small dishes were hit and miss, the Chicken Baos were great and Kingfish Sashimi was also lovely. However, I didn't think their Betel Leave Bites or the Crispy Dumplings were anything outstanding. I wanted to be excited with the Betel Leave Bites but wasn't.

We had their whole fish, Pad Thai and Beef Ribs large dishes. The fish was over cooked, Pad Thai was lacking complexities and I found it overly sweet. The Beef Ribs' flavour was wonderful but the meat was a little dry.

This venue is a little on the loud side and seems lively for cocktails and drinks. Our seating of 6 was a little on the tighter side. Our wait staff could have been a little more attentive, however, they were wonderful and accommodating once you had their attention.

There are better modern Asian fusion food around.
