Wow! this is one of the best Chineese meals I have ever had. I took my two disabled clients here, and they were treated really well. Service was prompt, food was tasty, and prices were really reasonable. I will be back! :)

The go-to when it comes to craving the finest Chinese (Shanghai) cuisine. You'll be welcomed with a bustling atmosphere and generally a long line of hungry patrons waiting for a table. Empress of China does BYO so that's definitely a plus as well. I encourage everyone to give this restaurant a go if you haven't already - you won't ever look back. Cheers.

We came here after not wanting to wait at Shanghai Street as they were busy.

Great value and taste in the heart of china town. We had a variety of dumplings, noodles and vegetables and it was all very tasty and affordable. Highly recommend this place. The dumplings in chilli oil are delicious.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Empress of China on Little Bourke Street, and I must say, it's an absolute gem. If you're after an uncomplicated dining experience with tasty food that won't break the bank, this is the place for you.

Starting with the Pan Fried Vegetarian Dumplings and Fried Green Beans in Garlic, the flavours were vibrant and fresh, an absolute delight for my vegetarian companion. My order of the Chicken and Corn Soup was just as satisfying. The flavors were comforting and well-balanced, making it a dish I'd happily recommend.

The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a budget-friendly dumpling place - no frills, just good, honest food. The restaurant was bustling, adding to the vibrant, authentic vibe.

The service was efficient and friendly, considering the crowd. The system of writing your order on a piece of paper and waving down a server was uncomplicated and quick.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Empress of China for anyone looking for a casual dining spot with tasty food. Its cheap, fast service, friendly staff and a wide range of menu options accommodating various dietary needs make it a go-to spot in the city.

I remember visiting here years ago and know I enjoyed it. I don't think it has changed at all. There is still a staircase to climb to reach the extra dining space.
Plenty of choice on the menu. Dumplings and wontons were good. Salt and pepper squid was not what I expected.
Service was efficient. The place was full making for a lively Thursday dinner. 3 of us attended at a cost of $25 each

Cheap place . Quick service with big portions. I've ordered many things in the past and love the wonton with chilli oil.
Fried dumplings r ok for the price but not that great. Rice dishes are great mostly but the presentation is not so appealing but tasty.

Probably the worst Chinese cuisine I’ve ever tasted in melb. Service was bad, food was worse. The 辣子鸡 is like sour sweet chicken, Xiao long bao was all burst when it arrived, not sure why, even the 水煮鱼 doesn’t have taste , not even a spicy taste at all.
