Very friendly staff and good service. I ordered the Ruka vanilla cream latte and it tasted a little off but was still good. The person who took my order came over unprompted and said they made a mistake and made it with oat milk . They already had a replacement being made and gave me the correct order very quickly. Coffee was nice and atmosphere was chill. Great place!

Great local spot to grab coffee and treats. The staff are really nice and make an effort to remember your order, chat you up and bring you your food or drinks. There's a cute seating area outside and a smaller area inside. The wraps and treats are quite good too! Love getting a breakfast burrito with my coffee!

I really enjoy my visits here, even it's while I wait for a sandwich to be toasted. There's a real sense of community in here. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is really good, excellent quality and reasonably priced. I'm lucky that my office is close by.

Ordered a delivery this morning and was genuinely happy to see this “Happy Friday” wish on a bag of cookies. For me it means that they care, thank you ☺️ ordered tiramisu coffee which was absolutely amazing, panini and almond croissant. Definitely will order again.

The barista was very friendly and warm. Even helped me decide on a drink. I got the pumpkin spice latte, thanks to the barista's recommendation. I only wish it was sweeter, but that is merely my own petty critique. Otherwise, I very much enjoyed my drink.

The interior was very cozy and cute with a very picturesque image of what a cafe would look like in a book.

Everything is awesome about this cafe! The staff are so friendly and genuine, I love stopping by on my way to work ☺️ coffee is great and banana bread is delicious — they have lots of sandwiches/food options but I haven’t tried those yet
Tried their Hawaiian coffee, but it was a bit too sweet for me. Their regular latte is way better. It's a spacious cafe, and interiors are done tastefully. Will come again and stick to my regular latte.

I had a fantastic experience at this cafe! The customer service here sets a high standard for all others. The staff was fast, competent, and incredibly friendly.

Their coffee selection is impressive, and I tried the floral blend, which was absolutely perfect. The unique presentation of coffee in a small pot with a small cup adds a delightful touch.

I ordered the Mortadella Supreme, and the croissant was divine - crunchy, golden, and fresh. There are also tempting pastries that I'm eager to try on my next visit.

The ambiance of the cafe is incredibly relaxing, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

The only drawback was the absence of Wi-Fi, which was a bit surprising considering the inviting environment. Nonetheless, the exceptional customer service more than made up for it. I'm leaning towards giving them a 5-star review despite the Wi-Fi issue.
I was quite surprised by how good the coffee is. I’m a coffee snob and I tried many coffee shops… the two problems I have with coffee shops is either the coffee is too acidic or low quality that tastes like water… I liked this place because it wasn’t acidic nor tasting like water and better tasting then Starbucks is all I need to be satisfied. I tried the iced latte their popular one and it was delicious!

Ordered Ruka Tiramisu Latte and Raspberry donut. Was super good. Staff was friendly and nice!
This is always a fun place to stop for a quick bite. I love the tropical aesthetic with the feel of the open air cafe! It's the best when it's a nice (or just nice-ish) day and the windows are open and you can feel the breeze while you're inside... It seems like it's always busy around lunch, when I usually come, but I've always been able to find a spot inside or in the patio area.
Between this downtown location and the other cafes, I've been here many times and gotten the chance to try a lot of the menu. There are always a few very cool seasonal drinks which keeps things fresh. My personal favourites for food are the veggie quiche and the guava loaf (or whatever seasonal loaf is available), but everything is great. For drinks, I usually go for whatever is seasonal, but they also do really good matcha lattes, and lattes are very good too - again, you can't go wrong. It's a little expensive but it's all really good stuff!
They have a small retail selection where you can buy their jams, dressings, beans, and merchandise. I'm not much of a coffee nerd but if you are, they have a few different unique beans from Hawaii here.

When I arrived a staff member ran to open the door for me, since the cafe is tucked in the lobby of a building with a buzzer to get in. Feels like an exclusive place with an in-crowd.
The menu was health conscious with lots of hearty options. I had BC berry and matcha smoothie which was good and wholesome. Decor is cute and they also had a couple racks of clothing for sale.

Such a hidden gem! The wanpaku sandwiches are extremely good and such a treat! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their food options as well. Love their homemade bread on the sandwiches! The coffee and tea drinks were all great as well- and very cute original coffee cups. The atmosphere is a little odd as it is tucked into the lobby of a quite building, but with sandwiches this good that is a tiny minor detail! If you’re nearby and need a great original sandwich, I can’t recommend popping in quickly enough.

First of all, staffs are very friendly.

And I know people do make mistakes sometimes but my drink did not come with what I pay for, and it's probably like the sixth time now. Sometimes my drink is made by same person but still taste totally different everytime.

Lack of standard.

This cafe has what I call the holy trinity:
1. Beautiful cafe space, 2. Excellent coffee, 3. Fantastic food.
This was probably my favourite cafe in downtown Vancouver.
Located on a corner opposite a small park, the cafe is very light and bright, stylish and welcoming.
The coffee was exceptional - it looked and tasted absolutely perfect.
The food offering is so good too - lots of choice, both sweet and savoury.
I would definitely recommend trying this cafe!
Our mid morning bike ride pit stop for the last year. I’m completely hooked on their Yuzu Espresso Soda. A cold spritzer coffee with just the right amount of sweetness. 😋😋

All their pastries are amazing. My goto snack are their amazing Matcha Breakfast cookies.

Great service and friendly staff.
We always return to this Hawaiian themed oasis for the coffee. Nicely prepared. The place is calm, clean, comfortable and cool on a hot day. Our preferred place for a coffee break in Kerrisdale.

Today we had the immense pleasure of visiting La Cuisson cafe. What an incredible experience. We arrived and were served very quickly. We asked for a coffee recommendation, mentioning that it was our first time there. We were suggested a delicious coffee – light and flavorful, just as we had requested. We had the opportunity to watch the syphon coffee being prepared up close, and throughout the whole process, Jason explained intricate details about the coffee. We enjoyed a flavorful red berry and passion fruit cheesecake. The place is very clean and pleasant, and the decoration is amazing. However, what will definitely make us return is the taste of the coffee paired with the excellent quality of service.

I never give bad reviews, but this time I unfortunately just have to. The place is pretty, the products fine and the location amazing, but the service we received was awful. The cashier didn‘t greet us, was standing right in front of us without talking and just being on his phone for about a minute, very slowly took our order in a disinterested demeanor while continuing to text, didn‘t say a word after payment and left even though there was a line behind us. He stood in a corner, still on his phone, not giving a single look to what was going in the café. The barista also wasn‘t too engaging, was fairly slow and didn‘t do the drinks in order since the people who ordered after us got their drinks first. I hope they just had a bad day but it didn‘t seem that way.
Went for an interview nearby and the VP recommended I try this cafe so made my way here after the meeting. And I'm glad I did.

Variety of beans available here, each of which liked tempting. I got the Futura, which had pistachio and spice influences, but was so tempted to try out order flavors as well.

Some of the baked goods here were from To Live For bakery, which is a mind blowing vegan bakery (make sure you try their double chocolate cookie).

Loved this place and will be back!

We really loved our rice bowls from the cafe. Entry can be a little daunting on Carrall street but staff is super friendly. Sablefish was delicious, bowl came loaded with veggies and matcha was very nice. Will come here again for a satisfying healthy lunch. Also, dog friendly 🐶

I requested extra caramel syrup in my coffee, and when received my drink it had very little of the flavouring. I believe this happened as I observed the caramel syrup they were using was near done, and the correct amount probably wasn’t used when making my drink. I understand that things like this happens during a fast paced work environment. Just next time be more aware of different ingredients amounts.

Excellent friendly service. I was visiting Vancouver for vacation, and went to this cafe for breakfast everyday during my week long vacation, due to the friendliness of the staff and delicious food. Their truffle mushroom wrap and the ham & cheese croissant were delicious. They also made my chai latte extra strong when requested, exactly to the way I like it. Thank you for the great service.

We enjoy coming here, with the good food and chill atmosphere. The lady at cash is always very smiley too, nice start to a day.
This is an incredible spot! The food is Michelin star quality, service is impeccable and the atmosphere is tasteful. Perfect spot for a hangout, a date or for a few hours of work.

My only complaint is that they don’t have wifi, I really really wish they did :)

The best coffee place in town! The owner Jason is a coffee master. He is so knowledgeable in coffee and can teach every customer how to enjoy a cup of coffee without adding any cream or sugar. Their dessert are all made in house. If you want to taste high quality coffee, this is the place to go. You won’t regret it!
The service provided by the staff was outstanding at Nemesis- they were friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome.

Regarding the coffee, it's a matter of personal preference, as found that the taste didn't align with my palate.
However, I must emphasize that the coffee itself is not necessarily bad; it simply wasn't to my liking.

On the bright side, the pastries I ordered, both savory and sweet, were a real treat! They were delicious and definitely added a positive note to my visit.

While the coffee might not have been to my liking, the excellent service and delightful pastries were notable aspects of my experience at Nemesis Coffee Gastown. If you're looking for a place with great pastries and a friendly atmosphere, this might be worth a visit❤️

Went by this afternoon to check out the one on Hornby. Paid over seven dollars for a large latte. Seems like it’s turned into another tourist trap coffee shop. Apathetic, ESL staff, dirty dishes on most of the tables, bland food and Mediocre coffee. They had a promotion for a complementary croissant with a latte, the croissant was a plain day old bakery item about as tasteful as the cardboard box it came in. This used to be a great coffee shop but now it seems like another business that didn’t recover its service after Covid

I went to Artigiano this morning to grab a coffee and food. When I leave from the entrance, there was a caretaker blowing the street leaves and dust all over me, including my coffee and food. I hope that there could be improvement from the property management to provide clear guidance to their staff not to blow the dust toward customer or any entrance of these coffee shops. located in their building. It is common sense.

Great ambiance at this cafe. Quiet during the week days. Can be very lively and busy once cruise season hits in the summer with lots of tourist. Super busy on the weekends. Coffee here unfortunately was very watered and gross. We ordered two cappuccinos and they were watery and bitter. Bathroom is available without key required.

The owners made us feel warmly welcome and opened their beautiful Cafe a little early. My 96 year old Mum enjoyed a delicious and unique fruit mousse, and I loved the coffee hazelnut cake. All made by hand. Of course the hand roasted coffee was beautiful. Try it. You'll like it!

Always the friendliest and welcoming baristas! They take to time to learn your name and always greet you when you enter and exit. Definitely a great atmosphere especially in the mornings before the first cup of coffee!
Okay wow! This place was amazing- from the delicious croissant like pastry we had (it had the tastiest raspberry and custard filling) to the perfectly steamed and prepared oat flat white/chai latte!!

Staff were super friendly and the shop is inviting, has great natural light, and had good amount of seating!

The area is a little sketchy, but that can’t really be helped

It's the first time I tried this coffee shop, the coffee, the environment, and the staff are all good
They have a nice outdoor seating area. There’s a nice open courtyard that kids can play in. Hubby ordered their Hawaiian latte which was very tasty. The chai I ordered was bland and watery and could definitely use more flavor.

Such a cute cozy coffee place, pet friendly and the staff are amazing. They make homemade muffins and other baked goods, just a few step from my home.
A really nice Hawaiian themed cafe with great beverages and tasty looking snacks.

I tried the Hawaiian latte, which was just a bit sweeter than a regular latte, with flavors of macadamia and coconut 🥥 (which worked really well with the coffee).

The baked goods looked really nice as well, and though I wasn't hungry, I had to put up a picture so people check em out.

Kinda hard to reach since there's no skytrain around the area, but if you're nearby and like coffee and cookies, you should definitely try this place.
I have walked by Milano numerous times and never went in. Well I finally decided to go in to satisfy my espresso fix.

I was surprised by the different options for espresso. Each with a different flavour profile. After speaking with the lovely lady at the counter, I decided on the espresso flight. I mentioned I would like to enjoy them from lightest to darkest. She said start with La Futura and go right. Please see picture.

The espresso shots were perfectly pulled and delicious. I am definitely coming back!

Great place to relax while looking out across the park in front.

exceptional service and the owner and his wife are very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu offerings. The cafe is also has cozy atmosphere with excellent baked goods selection and coffee drinks. La Cuisson cafe is reliable and enjoyable spot for anyone looking for a relaxing break.
Good place for coffee and bites.

We tried the croissants, latte, mocha and hash. The butter croissant was made really well, very fluffy and multiple layers and crisp on the outside but I wish it was warmed up before serving.

The latte and mocha were good, the hash wasn't to our taste.

Would recommend this place for their croissants, and the French toast brulee sounds like an incredible concept, will be back for this one.
Honolulu Coffee was an excellent cafe to have breakfast at to start off our time in Vancouver. With ample space, outdoor seating, delicious and unique items like the guava cream puff, and abundance of aloha vibes, this spot did not disappoint. The breakfast burrito was a bit heavy on the quinoa I have to say, but the cold brew, breakfast sandwich, and cream puff were quality. Worth a stop if you’re walking by and looking for a place to step back and relax.

Super cute cafe, lovely owners, great service, amazing quality drinks, gorgeous pastries, fashion & accessories, plus a fun and memorable logo.

Have tried Aiyaohno twice, once at their usual location, once at their booth for Japan Market.

Salted sakura latte: LOVE IT! Strong coffee, subtle floral scent, just the right hint of salinity to let the flavours bloom, without being salty.

Iced matcha latte: highly recommend! Beautiful, vibrant green, powerful matcha. Tastes super fresh. They use (and sell) really high quality teas and I want to try the hojicha next.

Vegan brownie: UGH SO GOOD! I let mine warm up to room temp before eating, it was the perfect amount of chewy and so aromatic.

I really like the Hope & Sesame Barista Blend milk that they offer as a dairy alternative, it’s a favourite. Great flavour, nutritious, and reduces waste.

They were giving away posters (free with any purchase) to promote the documentary Big Fight In Little Chinatown (totally my thing) and very sweetly saved one for me after I sent them a DM on instagram to ask if there were any left.

I’m not in the area often, but will try to visit every time. Their menu sounds so good, love that there are vegan/vegetarian/pescetarian options, and the lunches have good reviews here.
One of my favourite coffee spots in Vancouver! I frequent both the Olympic Village and downtown locations. I’m not from Hawaii, but I’m from the East Coast of Australia, so the overall surfy/beach vibe at Honolulu Coffee makes me feel right at home. I enjoy the black coffee at Honolulu, and the Hawaiian latte. Also: the cream cheese muffin. Absolutely delightful. The downtown location has a big table ideal for working from a laptop also! Staff are always friendly and there’s just a real cosy atmosphere here.

Terrible service. I watched the cashier (assistant manager) making mistakes when submitting customer orders. Instead of easily rectifying the issue she was escalating the situation by telling them they were wrong and made the wrong order. As a customer standing in line, it was clear it was her mistake. Regardless this Assistant Manager needs to receive more training and set a better example for their staff. There are way too many cafes in the neighborhood to bother dealing with such bad service. I left without ordering after seeing the interactions.

I gave them 1 star because of their poor service. I ordered a soy latte because I’m lactose intolerant and while the barista was making the drink I noticed she used whole milk. I quickly told her I ordered soy milk and the cashier quickly said I didn’t say soy. She then gave me a weird look and told the barista a couple times saying I didn’t say soy. Instead of apologizing to me for the mistake she made, she turned it into an uncomfortable situation. I will not go back again.

Funky Japanese cafe! Saw a friend having a take out from this place and decided to try myself. Their foods are authentic but with modern twist.
Tried a sandwich and a bowl and both were very fresh, hearty, and delicious ! (You need to be a veggie lover to like this place. If you are a carnivore, maybe not.)
Lots of interesting drink options, too. Cherry blossom latte was good just like had in Japan.

The absolute BEST place for vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian food! Everything is always so fresh and delicious, lots of raw vegetables. I have a friend who visits pretty much every week, and if I had more money I would likely do the same. Highly recommend the vegan chive dumplings, they’re packed with flavour and it was such a filling lunch.
Delicious açai bowls. Coffee is definitely a must try. They have many options to choose from. They also usually have creative menu items to try and they always participate in Vancouver Hot chocolate fest with cool entries.

A bit busy but can usually find a seat quickly enough. Docking one star because the prices are a bit on a higher side.
Must try hawaiian coffee if you like sweetened coffee. If not, it is still worth to try their kona coffee which is fabulous. Guava bread is amazing. They have cute merchandises as well.
I love your place for great coffee and great location. That is why not 3*.
BUT‼️folks, what’s stopping you from:
a) being friendlier to your customers (I visit you quite often and this is the experience of more than one visit). Your workers are polite; however, it is different from friendly (usually it happens when something goin on in work environment)
b) Can you agree with some cool bakery? Your sandwiches are delicious, but your pastries are not so good.

Many say you can't have everything at once, but the question is why? Maybe in addition to delicious coffee and a cool location, you will also have friendlier staff and some delicious pastries?
I wish you this from the bottom of my heart, and I know that many of my friends would like come to your place more often as me.

Smooth like butter! Wow, super impressed at this awesome spot and a phenomenal quaint little coffee house is a hidden gem. Boasting a minimalistic, clean and modern vibe with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating and a treetop style view of the beautiful park adjacent.
I got their Butter dark blend as an iced Americano, delicious sippin on a hot day and a follow up walk around a beautiful area. The value was totally reasonable and preferred compared to a lot of places. They also have Soy, Oat and Almond milk available and don't ridiculously charge for a splash.
If you love coffee down to the details, this down to earth, no-fuss and "justifying'ly" bustling joint is most definitely your jam!
Support local businesses!

A very cute and friendly cafe with wonderful food and service. The tataki lunch set is packed with vegetables, decently cooked rice and well seasoned tuna tataki. Vegan BLT is refreshing (the toasts are a bit dry to my liking though). Salted sakura latte is very interesting; I can't exactly taste the sakura (which is understandable given its subtle fragrance), but the light salty, savory taste does give a unique edge to the coffee. Would definitely come back again!
I left Vancouver 5 years ago. At that time Nemesis was great. I’m confident to say they’ve upped their game and remain at the top end of the Vancouver coffee and pastry scene. Everything we had was top of class. Coming from Europe I was not expecting to be floored by the pastries but they were truly exceptional.

Food was solid. Service is speedy and helpful. Coffee was really cool. A bit stronger brew than European style brewing but great none the less.

High recommendation,
High praise.

We tried their mocha, matcha drinks and the cookie. The mocha was amazing, full of flavour. The matcha drink was creamy but I was hoping for a bit more taste. The cookie was really sweet but has nice fragrant.
Loved this place. Nice vibes and good. Especially I really liked seating near glass and click pictures lol coffee was good too. Only thing is less options available for my vegetarian friend who went along with me.

Long overdue to write this review. I have frequented this coffee shop for quite a number of years, but much more regularily in the last two or three. It is now pretty much my main destination for coffee, to sit in or take out, and I cannot say enough about how great the currrent ownership and staff are. It is not common to find such consistently pleasant and professional staff like the group here. They are wonderful! The coffee and food are good too, and the decor and surroundings are lovely and well maintained.

If you are serious about coffee and want to try different types of coffee, this is your place! i am so lucky that this is my local starbucks where i work. the staff here are so kind! i pretty much exclusively mobile order and therefore am only in the shop for a few moments to grab my drink and go, and even in my short time in the shop, someone (or multiple people!) will ALWAYS say hello/good morning to me! it seriously is so appreciated and enhances the already great experience of getting a little sweet treat, by having a warm exchange with their sweet staff💗 thank u for being amazing!
Ordered the Acai smoothie but it unfortunately only tasted heavily of the Sun Rype apple juice that they were using as a base. There were no blueberry, strawberry or banana taste at all and the consistency of the drink was basically juice instead of smoothie. I would not pay $10.76 again just to drink Sun Rype apple juice.

We went to have a birthday brunch with my friend. It’s such a hidden gem in the area. There are so many different kinds of coffee and drinks on the menu and we had a hard time to choose what to order. The lady that served us was so friendly and sincere, she recommended us to choose the Blue Mountain coffee and the Mocha Java. We also ordered the Panini with Turkey Ham. We could smell the toasted Panini from the kitchen before it got to our table. It was delicious!! I am not a coffee expert, but my friend had the Blue Mountain and she said it’s really good. Since it’s a birthday celebration and I didn’t prepare a cake (my bad!!), so we ordered 2 mini cakes (also recommended by the server)- Chestnut tart and Passion fruit tart. We’ve finished our coffee, so we ordered a pot of Fruit Garden and Wild Berry as our dessert drinks. We loved the Fruit Garden, it’s perfect match with the cakes. I like the Wild Berry too, but a little sour for my friend’s taste. During our dessert time, we asked our lady server and see if she can take a photo of us, but she said she isn’t a good photographer and introduced us to her colleague, whom can take good photos because he’s also a photographer. We were really impressed with the friendly services and ambience from the restaurant. We will be back!!

I had a pleasant dining experience here, thanks in part to the great quality of the coffee beans that are roasted in-house. The hand-made syphon-style coffee had a pleasant mouthfeel, and the gourmet desserts were a perfect match. I highly recommend trying the truly exceptional cup of coffee they serve.

WOW! Kranky Cafe really did fix my cranky. Not only is this a hidden gem coffee shop, but the service is amazing! I had the soup of the day which happened to be a white cabbage soup-- delicious! The ladies serving us brought out out food and drinks to the patio since it was a beautiful day. I wish I were local to the area, because I'd be here all the time. Thank you!

Please receive this review as an invitation to enjoy a hot cup of Java at Artigiano in Kerrisdale. The service is excellent and your name is remembered. There are only a few places in Vancouver that treat people so kindly, give Artigiano (in Kerrisdale) a chance.
I'd been wanting to come here since the very beginning of the Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival. Just couldn't resist the "Raincouver" hot chocolate with the cloud of Cotton Candy that I'd been seeing all over social media and I knew it was something our daughter would enjoy. So...we finally made it out to Honolulu Coffee for the "Raincouver" hot chocolate. While we were at it, we decided to also order "The Donut" which is the other flavor of hot chocolate that Honolulu Coffee is offering for the hot chocolate festival.
The donut which accompanied "The Donut" hot chocolate was delicious. We enjoyed it almost as much as we enjoyed the cotton candy. We enjoyed the cotton candy more...but only because it was funner. In terms of tastiness, the two treats were about neck and neck.

Both hot chocolates were good but the Raincouver was our favourite, and not just because of the Instagram worthy cloud of cotton candy that was suspended over the drink. The Donut hot chocolate had a shot of espresso in it. This made the drink taste more like a coffee beverage than a hot chocolate beverage. We enjoyed it; however, we preferred the Raincouver hot chocolate which had more of a traditional hot chocolate taste to it.

I was overjoyed when I saw a sign in the shop that said they accept clean, reusable cups! Really hoping to see more of this moving forward as I'm very much an advocate for eco-friendly options.

Service: Good
Parking: Free parking nearby on West or East Blvd.
Location: West 41st @ West Blvd.
I loved the place, I came here on purpose to have Raincouver (it’s their seasonal drink - hot chocolate , they will serve it till 14 Feb) I saw it in Instagram, it looked so appealing. When I came there it was almost on every table 😄 also it works till 6 pm, which is a pretty good as normally cool cafes in Vancouver close real early. It was very crowded though , we luckily got a seat.

Latte was pretty good. Pasties looked delish - I tried Vanilla cream brioche. It was not very sweet, but the bread tasted dry - probably not from the same day. Anyway, a good place for grabbing some coffee and just chill.

Quiet, clean, very nice cafe!!!

I ordered coffee and dessert, both were very good and I had a wonderful time.

Reasonable prices too.
Good staff, loved this place! Next time I go I will ask for macarons.

I would recommend this place to other friends😊.
Unfortunately have to change my rating. I’ve had good açai bowls here in the past but the quality has gone down. I brought an out of town friend here for the açai bowls and they were icy and not at all the texture of a smoothie. Chunks of ice in the bowl made it very unenjoyable to eat for breakfast. I mentioned it to the barista and she said “the açai is cold so that’s why there’s chunks of ice”. Considering you pay $20 a bowl, I expected a little more or at least better service. Will not be returning. Body energy club and Craffles on Davie have better smoothie bowls.
The coffee here was decent despite the disappointing bowls.
Milano's coffee is an easy 10/10. LOVE everything so much. The mocha is incredible and so is are their (lavender!!) lattes and cappuccinos. I'm always impressed. highly recommend <3
Wonderful coffee shop that serves up good coffee and tasty food! I have tried their box cakes and oat latte and really enjoyed them! The cakes are made in-house (like everything else) and make a really great treat that’s easy to take home or gift to someone!

Their menu also listed bubble tea and a bunch of other sandwiches and goodies that I must go back for. What a great addition Ruka Coffee is! If you’re looking for a new coffee shop to check out, give them a try. Their space is also nice and bright and conveniently located on E Broadway and Nanaimo!
Kona coffee is one of my favourite coffees. Just had to come here to taste their peaberry Kona coffee. I’m a huge fan of pour over coffees. Yes it is expensive but if you love coffee you would appreciate it. Starbucks is not even in the same playing field. Starbucks coffee is so over roasted. That’s why you have to put cream and sugar to mask it.

Açai Hawaiian Bowls - brings back memories of Maui. The açai was really good texture. Was not watery and had good consistency. Lots of nuts, honey and fruit and granola. My family really enjoyed it.

Brownie - was kind of hard. So not moist, a bit dry but it was yummy.

Pour over 100% Kona Peaberry - really good cup coffee. Chocolate and honey notes. Pour over method used was Hario V60. Water temp was 205. I’m happy to pay the money for this coffee. I watched the pour over being done and it was well done. I didn’t time the extraction but it tasted good.

I wanted to love this location but it wasn't meant to be. Firstly, this store needs an updated look. Oddly enough the ceiling tiles are warped and some of them are lifted on the corners which makes for an overall strange aesthetic. Much of the furnishings are worn such as the edges of tables, the table legs, wooden trim around the fireplace, the leather chairs and sofa all look dated. Outside the grounds are littered with cigarette butts despite having no smoking signs on each table. Seems people don't care, so don't be surprised if you get exposure to smoke while outside. I had retreat to my car as it happened to me. On the bright side they offer plenty of seating, washrooms, handicap accessibility in a large space. Also a friendly staff which made a good beverage.

I LOVE their coffee but i find the food overpriced for its quality and compared to other cafes. There are plenty of outlets and seats. Staffs are nice and I’d love to go back!

Update November 2021: This store has undergone a renovation and now has a contemporary look (and cleaner). Therefore, rating has been adjusted to 4 stars.
-----
Cozy, larger than average size store with a steady stream of customers. Offers the products and service that customers come to expect of this popular chain, including a Clover machine. Fireplace, outdoor seating and large patio windows (opened in good weather). Parking is by street meter and nearby lots and residential street spots.

2020 Note: at times this location is not kept clean including the washrooms (therefore 3 stars).
