I have been going there for a long time. At any doctors office, the highlight is the receptionists. If they are kind and patient, you're already in good hands. For me this team is amazing. Thanks for being so knowledgeable and always happy to help.

This is a long review.
I have been a patient of the Don Mills Family Health Team for about 10 years now. After a visit to my doctor today, and a chat with one of the lovely receptionists, I decided to read through the Google reviews of the practice. I literally laughed out loud at some of the negative reviews (badly written, misguided, and ridiculous for the most part) and feel that a rebuttal is called for to defend this gem of a practice.

The ladies manning the reception desk are amazing, the very embodiment of grace under pressure. Their job is tough, fielding hundreds of calls on a daily basis, and language/communication with newcomers to Canada can often be a challenge. As far as I'm concerned, and from what I've seen over the past decade, these ladies have the patience of saints and should be applauded. I'd like to see some of the negative reviewers last more than 10 minutes behind that desk before running away screaming.

My family doctor is Dr. E. Boucher - I love her. She spends a generous amount of time with each of her patients, is over the top thorough, never rushes, and thinks 'outside of the box'. Dr. Boucher is amazing.

Over the course of a decade, I have seen several other doctors at the practice for different reasons. Each and every one of them was great, as are the nurse practitioners also, and I felt that I was in good hands during each visit.

A couple of years ago my ex husband was having great difficulty in finding a family doctor. I asked Dr. Boucher if she could help. Due to her perseverance, he was able to become a patient of Dr. Chow and is super happy with her.

Because this practice is so wonderful, it is very difficult to obtain a family doctor there at present - they are fully booked and most cannot accept any new patients.

I truly feel blessed to be a patient of this practice.

The worst doctor's office in the city. You will wait over a week to see your Doctor. Calling for a same day appointment first thing in the morning, you will never get seen, even for a phone call appointment.
The front desk is unprofessional. They will harass you till you tell them the reason for wanting to see your doctor - that is a breach of Doctor-Patient confidentiality. The office has "urgent care" appointment slots for same day, unless you're case is urgent and you disclose personal information to a front desk receptionist, you won't see your doctor. Urgent care is something we go to the hospital for, not our general practioner.

I will be leaving this clinic as a patient as soon as possible. I have never had to go to a walk-in clinic so often.

P.S. This clinic will also try to bill you, charge you, if you go to a walk-in clinic. You do NOT have to to pay this. This is not normal for a doctors office's and goes against our health care system.

They paperwork they have you sign, read it carefully, but also know - it is not legally binding.

Your chart/information, all your papers containing your patient records, is yours. You can leave any doctors office and ask for your chart to be sent elsewhere, to a new doctor. They CANNOT charge you for what is YOURS. That is illegal.

I have been seeing a doctor here for more than a year now and I had never had any problems with the staff until last week when I had requested a NP to draw me a requisition of blood works. I am almost always asked to get an ALT(SGPT) test done however the NP referred my last records and still missed to advise me that. Surprisingly, my doctor too missed to identify that and had called me up to tell me that my liver function looked great. Had I been not been on top of things and had asked her about my ALT work missing, the team would have potentially caused risk to my health.
I have a family. history of Type 2 diabetes and each time(mosty in 3-6 months) I have to beg the team to advise me fasting blood work or an Hba1c. Although they do advise the test, I am given a long lecture how my blood sugars have been normal in the past and that a yearly blood sugar check is enough. I mean, they have a tendency of missing key health factors and they advise me not to get a certain blood work done.

Was quite an unpleasant and a scary experience. There are so many tests whose test results are never shared with patients first and the team turns up and says “all is okay”. Mot sure what to believe and what not to now.

Great place to get a family doctor. They have many doctors who are easily available and also have after hours service which is so convenient. I always get early appointments at this place promptly. Dr. Pinnaduwage and Dr. Boucher are both amazing doctors. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a family physician.

Edit: I have changed my review because I always have a bad experience with the reception here. Some of them are so rude and need to be trained properly on how to speak to patients. This behavior is not acceptable.
