It is a mall, lots of shops...
Located at the site of the former Jackson Brewery on the Mississippi River, the Shops at Jax Brewery is host to immense history and culture. Today, the building is no longer an active brewery, but is home to the premier retailers of the New Orleans French Quarter and the most breathtaking views of the Mississippi River in New Orleans.
Great spot for pictures, especially during sunset.

This was a stop on a city tour. The area looked very pleasant and clean. Had Bignets and hot cocoa at Cafe Du Monde.
I went with two of my best friends and we had a Great Time!! It was so much fun and the guide was terrific. They stop and let alligators come up to the boat. Will definitely do it again when I bring my wife!

The woman working security saturday afternoon is unhinged.

We came in as a group to buy stuff from the gift shops. We had barely passed the door when she started YELLING at us that if we were not buying we had to leave. Great way to welcome customers! No wonder the mall was empty despite the rain outside.

I understand she was trying to do her job but we hadn’t been there 30 seconds, we were literally on our way from the entrance to the gift shop. Yelling at us from the get-go, without even trying to talk first was rude and unnecessary.

She calmed down when we told her we were there to buy stuff and left for a bit (to yell at other people). A bit later she came back to ask those who were finished buying stuff and were waiting for those who were not done shopping why they weren’t leaving if they were done. My friends started getting really annoyed. She was no longer yelling but her tone was very aggressive.

Once we were all done with our shopping we started leaving. We stopped a few moments under the porch to put on our rain poncho and look at google map to figure out how to get to cafe du monde. We had stoped for maybe 30 seconds when she came out to yell at us to leave. That we couldn’t protect ourselves from the rain there and had to leave immediately or she would call the police. We tried to explain we were just stopping for a second, but she kept interrupting us shouting “Bye, I said bye, bye, now you leave, bye…” every time with someone started a sentence. There is only so much yelling in the face one can take. So at this point, we lost our patience and started shouting back.

The gift shop owner saw the shouting match from his shop and came to our defense. He told her to stop driving people away and being rude to his customers. She started shouting at him saying he was only a tenant and had no right to comment on her behavior. There was a lot of yelling for a few minutes and then we left after thanking the shop owner for his support. We hope he doesn’t get in trouble with the property manager (because she threatened repercussions to his shop) because he did nothing wrong.
Our tour of Pitot House was fascinating! Our tour guide, Jamie, was a delight--friendly, knowledgeable about the history of both the house and New Orleans more generally, and very generous with her time. We had a great time! I highly recommend this tour.

Living in New Orleans we do not get as many chances as I would like to stay in the beautiful homes in the area. We have not stayed here so my review is on the outside of the Degas House. We found the exterior to be lovely and the grounds are well kept. The home is located in a beautiful area of town and a great neighborhood. I would love to arrange a tour of the home and will expand my review if I can.

While empty of fountain water during the Winter months I gather, it is still an impressive sight empty. The entire boardwalk area is both a useful and visually appealing sight from all the window view on the two Hilton towers.
It’s a small raised area with stairways in the front off of Decatur St and smaller stairs leading up to it from behind, on the Mississippi River side.

Even though it’s fairly simple to see, it does provide a fantastic view of Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral! Also, you will be facing just shy of the sunset, which gives you even more of a reason to check it out during the evening hours!

Photos attached are of a surprise proposal that photographer earlier this year. Captured by Firmin’s Photos!
Came across this museum when walking from the convention center to French Quarter. My husband who is Italian was very excited. We visited in the middle of a 100 degree heatwave and the building A/C was out so the entrance fee was waived. It was stifling on the third floor but we stayed for over an hour. Learning about Italian heritage in New Orleans was fascinating.
Great monument, and something definitely needs to be checked out by everyone.
Such a poignant and beautiful memorial. The area by the water is well worth a walk. There are new statues for the newly refurbished aquarium.

The Spanish Plaza is a nice area but I think could be so much nicer. The large fountain is beautiful but is not operating, at least not all the time. With a little plaster work, some tidying up and repairing of the fountain the City could have a five star attraction in a very nice area. Hopefully these few items are on the list and this can be outstanding.
The food was good and it was all you can eat.
Incredible. If your looking to have a wedding here i would highly recommend it!! So beautiful and peaceful i wish i knew about this sooner.

The museum piece is also really cool it’s not often you get to look back 300+ years and see what life was like for a family living in New Orleans.

This is a historic space that I've attended events at and it also operates as a bed and breakfast. The noted French artist, Edgar Degas, lived here and produced some of his art here completing 18 paintings and 4 drawings before moving back to Paris. This is the only remaining home and studio of Degas who lived here for only five months when he stayed here with his mother's family during 1872 to 1873. It is a nice space for an event and it looks like it would also be an interesting place to stay at if you wanted a bed and breakfast experience. Overall this is certainly a nice spot to visit if you're in the area.

** Groupon purchase: a much better deal **

The food did not disappoint for a buffet! The salad was very good. I love that they serve fish and not just meat options. There was also pie for dessert. Redeeming & setting appointment was very easy online. Fast response to my appointment request. Lovely jazz night cruise. I love that it was 2 hours. Beautiful views ♥️ I was shocked when the crew did not ask for tips like most cruise excursions do. Very nice employees!!!
A beautiful space to pay your respects

We did the walking tour, which included a video, house walkthrough and then short walk through the nearby neighborhood. It was interesting to learn about Degas’ time in New Orleans, about the home and area. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was a great host.
We had a wonderful tour of this lovely house with a delightful and knowledgable guide. Its very accessible being close to the NO Museum of Fine Art and the St John cemetery is just around the corner. The Degas House is also not far away. Its not as big as the famous planation houses but its similar in style and not crowded and well within uber distance.

Ample parking, historical venue, quaint and charming building! We had the pleasure of DJing and completed a Wedding Videography package at Degas House for Jesse & Jessica October 2023 and it was a blast!

There was a little issue with the string lights near the dance floor but we had some uplights that helped remedy the situation.

Pennywell Events decorated perfectly and dressed up Degas House outdoor area so well. The ceremony and reception were a hit. One improvement to the ceremony area outdoors, in the future, is to turn off the camera chirp/alarm. Otherwise, it was beautiful, peaceful and a very celebratory evening.

We look forward to many more events later this year.
I would highly recommend this tour. The instructor was knowledgeable and very personable. He showed us things you would normally over look, but was very cool.

We stayed in the Jeanne Garret Room, the house itself is a beautiful building, the room however.... the bathroom has had it's best time, so bad that one of the little tiles on the floor kept sticking on my foot when exiting the bathroom. When I wanted to take a shower, I almost lost my balance because the whole bathtub was loose. The airco was no luxury with the tempreratures at the time off our stay but we couldn't sleep from the racket the airco made. We where there for two nights, after the second night we had no breakfast, we were the only people in the house and the office was closed because it was Sunday, nobody there to help us out. We did make a mistake to not try to adress the manager by phone but we were on a tight shedule.
That room didn't enhaced our experience of New Orleans at all.

The location however is great.

Lil Wayne was born in 1982 in New Orleans and was raised in the Hollygrove neighborhood and is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his time. I love how this mural pays tribute to him and the neighborhood he grew up in.

Informative and fun. Smaller gators through the ride and some hatchlings and mom were witnessed. Different birds and beautiful area to take a ride through the swamp. Had a great time as a family!
We had an excellent tour, and were guided brilliantly around the property by Margot. There is lots of history around the property, and it is unusual to find something like this to see within a city! We were able to take the tram and walk over from the art museum which was a bonus. I highly recommend - book a tour in advance on the website and enjoy a lovely piece of NOLA history!

Its nice to see a city Native Mural and he's still alive
We really love the American Italian Cultural Center Museum. This is a great facility with a small gift shop, outdoor courtyard and a really nice museum on the third floor. They have displays of clothing worn by people who immigrated to New Orleans, businesses started by Italians, sports and music contributions. There is even a section on Italians that served in the US military. A very well done museum.
On your Tourist bucket list - we had a great visit on nice warm n sunny day, great visibility.
Would someone PLEASE buy this house, they people who own it are HORRIBLE custodians of the property. The condition of the house is tragic!! Ugh!!

Holly Grove......! Beautiful picture
Beautiful historic place to visit and get a little education at the same time. It's next to the River, so there are many photo opportunities.
Great explanation. I enjoyed all the historical details .
The New Orleans Holocaust Memorial is easy to miss walking along the river. Very interesting sculpture adorns the property adjacent to Woldenberg Park. Viewing the monument while walking by reveals several looks. From one angle it almost disappears another it looks like a post of blue. Continue to walk by and it reveals a yellow Star of David. A very interesting monument to see

It truly was a unique experience and super cool to do. I HIGHLY recommend taking a tour with them if you visit! The only thing I think I would ask to change is maybe just having our tour boat driver have some more information to give us along the way about the different things we are seeing anf such, but he did an amazing job at answering any questions we had!!!!

If you'd rather enjoy a quieter side of town, this is the spot. It's a very well cared for gorgeous home built in the 1800s with some room options that include a private balcony & even a kitchen. We received complimentary breakfast served fresh daily & the option of mimosas or bloody Mary's. And of course, coffee & tea available. The staff was amazing, they made us feel at home. Big shout out to Ms. Dee, Sharon Parker & Mathew Rhodes for your great service. Hope to stay there again on our next trip to NOLA.

Probably the closest I'll ever get to meeting Lil' Wayne.
Jamie was an amazing tour guide who knew a lot about the history of the city and the house. I went with my parents and we had an amazing time. She was very passionate about the history which made the tour very engaging! The house itself was beautiful as well as the bayou. I highly recommend this experience.
Beautiful park and nice view the bridge and Mississippi River. Love to walk around listening street singers, shopping….
Such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit! The thought and care that went into the Memorial is incredible. There is a guide sign that explains how to move around and interact with the Memorial to see all of the different images hidden in the simplistic looking design.
Great spot to watch the sunset, sunrise, and people watch in between. The park overlooks the Mississippi River on one side and Jackson Square on the other. You'll regularly find street performers in the area and the smell of Cafe du Monde in the air.
Took the sunset boat tour. 100% worth it. The guides take you right up to the gators and make them jump.

Sunset tour is the best time to go. Sun's low and watching it set on the water is stunning.

Ive not seen it yet but I'm on my way.
It was awesome. Great experience. Never been on airboat. Saw some gators and other animals and heard some interesting stories from our guide. Got soaked at the end when rain storm came but still awesome. Loved it. Would go again. Was on large air boat. Hotel pick up/drop off. With Louisiana Tour Company - recommend them.
This is a very interesting monument, but sad at the same time.

It represents a loss of life, and it was created in the neutral ground at these two crossroads.
Pitot House is such a wonderful place to hold an event or wedding, and it is all thanks to Jenny and Loren. Without those ladies doing all that they do for their couples, it just would not be the same. I have had the pleasure of being a wedding planner for 2 back to back weddings at Pitot House and even with all of the historical quirks of the house, I could not have asked for a better, more accommodating venue. Thank you ladies for everything! Hope to work with you again very soon!
An inviting space in Woldenberg Riverfront Park. The large art installation by Yaacov Agam. His art is wonderful and beautiful the way it transforms as you change your viewing angle. From one side you see a menorah appear and a Yellow Star of David on a Blue background appear from seemingly nothing.
This beautiful park has nice views over the Mississippi river. It’s located just a short walk from Cafe Du Monde where you can grab a quick coffee and beignets. And across Jackson Square where you can take a stroll and see the local vendors, artist and entertainers doing live performances or just relax on a bench while enjoying the ambiance.
Now BE AWARE of locals that will come to you and ask you if they can guess where you bought your shoes, my recommendation is that you just ignore them and say no thank you and keep walking, those are con artists trying to trick you to get your money.
Beautiful small park setting with large oaks that provide shade. A different view became apparent as you walk around the monument. Also- lots of Pokémon and a great place to take pictures of the docked steamboat.
Not open to the public and on a side street near Bayou St. John, this crumbling mansion that is now somehow subdivided into eight apartments sits tucked in on what was once a 30 acre property. A shining example of Italianate architecture, it is definitely worth the short walk from City Park.
It is a nice monument considering that I am Mexican and I do love History. I think if you know who is Benito Juarez you should visit it. I visited New Orleans too many times and I didn't know about the monument. It is very close to the Bourbon Street, I just followed street "Calle D Conti".
Website says museum is open on Saturday’s. The recorded telephone message says museum is open on Saturday’s. But when we walked 35 minutes to visit the museum on a Saturday we found it closed. Obviously the staff do not have any respect for people’s time. All they needed to do was to update the recoded telephone message but even that was too much work for them. We will never go back.

I would travel across the world to see this statue.
This was such a beautiful Holocaust memorial. I loved that you have to walk around it to appreciate the entire memorial. And it's right next to the Mississippi River so the evening view was spectacular.
I went to this wonderful wine and cheese tasting this Wednesday. It was fantastic. Besides that event I visited the not to be missed, greatly researched and interactive museum of the Italians who arrived to make up so many of our historically famous Americans.
Fascinating account of Italian immigrant experience in Louisiana , beautifully renovated museum space in historical New Orleans building. They offer a floor of event space also.
We had amazing time, our tour guy was funny, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to everyone, young and old. We got to see amazing channels of the swamp and get to feed the gators. It was a very enjoyable ride!
A hidden gem! How did I go my whole life not knowing the contribution of my family to this city I have visited so often?
Wonderful museum which has been beautifully curated and gives a great taste of Italian-American heritage from the past up to now. Would highly recommend!
Cool spooky looking mansion. If you're lucky, an octogenarian neighbor who goes by the handle Chris Boone will tell ya everything you'd care to know about the mansion...and other things too.
Found the mansion from an article read previously. It's really sad how it's fallen in such bad shape. You can still picture it in its regal beauty when it had acres and acres of grounds and how beautiful it must've been back then. Now it's surrounded by a neighborhood with bad streets but still worth a stop to gaze and imagine what it must've been like back then.
Known for its festive spirit of the Mardi Gras and vibrant nightlife. New Orleans has a lot more to offer. The rich history and beauty are almost mystical. In particular, Washington Artillery Park and Jackson Square. Even though not considered entirely safe for travelers, it remains a personal preference. During our time spent cycling, around the remarkable landmarks reduced possible risk, and make short stops to take in the beauty.
A definite thumbs up in my book and most certainly a revisit.
Did not know about Benito living in Nola until I watched Patria a Netflix documentary of Mexico.
Awesome statue honoring Benito Juarez

Old mansion (1850s) with interesting history. Off the beaten track. The man with no shirt is a neighbor who came out to tell the story. Off Esplanade.
The property is fascinating however visible from the street only.
My wife and I dropped in midday on a Wednesday. Jaimie welcomed us and took us on an informative tour, not only of the house, but of the neighborhood as well. Her knowledge was incredible. She had a passion and pride for the neighborhood and gave terrific restaurant recommendations. We ended our tour with a hug.

This is a private resident and not a place to visit. No tours and the residents aren't welcoming.
This is a fantastic place to visit during the sunset. You can enjoy a great view of the river and the Jackson Square with the Saint Louis Church as background. If you are lucky then some musician could be performing some instrument and you can enjoy the music and the landscape. Many tourists from everywhere. Don't forget to take great pictures.
Lots of history here
Thanks new Orleans
So much rich history in NOLA. From Oaxaca to Louisiana the Zapotec nation travels far.
I can't remember the name of my tour guide but I toured on Aoril 26th and my guide was amazing. Very informative and happy to answer any questions I had and even offered suggestions and assistance in gaining dual citizenship. If I find myself in new Orleans again, I will certainly be back!

You can't get in the building or on the property. It's pretty eerie to view from the street though.
Given to the city of New Orleans by the Mexican government for providing shelter to Benito during his two times in exile.
