Staff is great building is top-notch a wonderful experience and the leasing office crew is always willing to help. Carmine was very professional with his ways and he was always willing to go the extra mile with us.
Living at The Standard at Penn State was an amazing experience, and a lot of that was thanks to Carmine. From the very beginning, he went above and beyond to make sure residents felt welcomed and taken care of. Whether it was organizing fun events like cookouts or trivia nights or simply being available to answer questions, Carmine always made everyone feel at home. One time, when my roommates and I had an issue with our apartment, Carmine personally ensured it was resolved quickly, going out of his way to check in and make sure we were satisfied. He was the kind of person who remembered your name and genuinely cared about how you were doing. His energy and enthusiasm created a sense of community that set The Standard apart from other housing options. I still remember the time he helped us set up for a group study session in one of the lounge areas, even offering snacks to keep us going. Carmine’s kindness and dedication made the living experience much more than just a place to stay—it felt like a home. He truly made The Standard a standout part of my Penn State journey, and I’m grateful for everything he did to make it special.
The Standard State College is an excellent place to live! The maintenance team does an outstanding job keeping everything in top condition, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The elevators, floors, and all common areas are consistently spotless which really shows their commitment to cleanliness and comfort. I highly recommend living here!
I had a great experience at the standard, thanks to Carmine. His professionalism and quick responses to my requests made this year easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Carmine is amazing. He is professional, personable and knowledgeable! He provides an extraordinary level of support and service. Truly makes for a wonderful experience!
Horribly managed. Move in was a shit show and after my first semester I would say the shit show continues with them being unresponsive to emails and just overall unimpressive and unresponsive. I just received a call from them. The representative Tamara told me she was calling to let me know there was a balance on my portal. They never respond to my emails regarding move in time change but they will call you if they want your money!!!
Tamara told me of a balance on my portal but when I asked what happened if I didn’t pay it…she said it would continue as a balance on my account. It wasn’t until I asked if there would be late fees that she told me yes they would charge late fees. I find it interesting they call to notify of a balance but you have to pull information out of them. When I asked for her name…Tamara hung up on me.
Definitely shady business practices and unprofessional employees. Apartment is low quality….no vanity in bathroom so you must bring storage and living area/kitchen is too small for all the people to sit down and eat at the same time all for $1700 a month. One would think you weren’t in central PA!! Also shady practices of pressuring people to resign lease within less than a month of living there.

Unfortunately, they have one of the worse policies. Everything is done through a third party which means you have to install and register to all their apps. For instance, for mail you need to use an app, where you must registered. For internet you need another account with a different party. In fact I never found internet connection stable in the past 6 months, so good luck with that. For payment you must register and share sensitive info like SSN with another party. It seems like all this is intended to collect data which is of course worth selling. I dont feel comfortable sharing so much information with different agencies unnecessarily and neither should you. No to mention the sulky attitude of the office managers. Good luck if you chooses to live here.
Worst place to live in State College, easily a scam. We have had broken furniture, packages stolen, stains on the walls from rain leakage, and insane mold growth on the windows that the landlord refuses to take seriously. Both my roommate and I have allergies to this but cannot get a response. Our refrigerator door has also been broken for 4 months and they told us they “ordered a new one” but refuse to give an update every time we ask. And it’s ridiculously expensive even though the entire building is basically made out of toothpicks.
I am writing this publicly and with real concern. This apartment WILL scam you during move out. It is not just something I experienced, but 4 other tenants (different units) have corroborated that this has happened to them as well.

If you currently live here, take photos of EVERYTHING. Take pictures of the chips in the paint, the water markings in the bathroom, and definitely the terrible renovations that maintenance does because they WILL blame you and charge you at the end.

If you have not yet made the decision to live here, don’t. There are 0 amenities, and laundry is all the way on the bottom floor. The laundry room is often a mess and the machines break… a lot. The front door is broken a lot as well, which is alarming considering it should be fully locked each night.

My and my roommates were charged $300+ each after moving out. We were there for 2 years and there was certainly not $1000+ worth of damage or repairs. Essentially, from the 2 emails that they sent back to me, we are paying that amount for a few paint touch ups and a “cleaning” crew. Which is interesting cause our apartment was not freshly painted or cleaned when we first moved in. After sending us this egregious statement, for 3 months me and my roommates attempted to resolve the issue with them and dispute the damage charges. The Legacy, specifically MEGAN, completely ignored us and ghosted every single call/email.

They are scammers who are counting on students and their families to not pay attention at the end of their lease. Most people just pay it without actually looking at it. But even if you do look, and prove with photos that they are lying, they will still threaten to send it to collections and essentially rob you of your money.

They are sneaky. And I highly recommend living literally anywhere else. It’s not worth the price at all, and the people are shady.
The newly installed washers and dryers have extremely loud card readers. They beep like fire alarms and are highly audible next doors. Requests were sent to PMI (rental company) and to CSC ServiceWorks (laundry provider). Both requests were marked as completed without any actual actions at the time of writing.

Update: PMI wrote that they submitted a request to CSC. Did PMI check if their request was completed? Did they confirm with the tenants? They have let it slide for a month already.

Update2: The CSC technician put some cardboards on the side of the readers and claimed it was fixed. The noise is still loud and clear. I am so done with this.

Update3: 2 months in, nothing fixed. The technician came to mute the machine buttons, but not the card readers. They either couldn't read or didn't care. Fire alarm every night 4am and 5am.

In response to The View’s reply under my review, I still don’t see an apology for the attitude of your staff. Instead, the response seems to shift the blame onto the residents for the dissatisfaction caused by your management. This lack of accountability only adds to the frustration.

First of all, I would like to clarify that I did not ask your staff to kill the bug for me. It was raining yesterday, and after standing outside in the heavy rain for over twenty minutes, I decided to ask for help. However, all I received was an unappreciative attitude. While we did not report any bugs or cockroaches initially, would reporting them even resolve the problem immediately? Are we supposed to just wait and watch the bugs or cockroaches fly around the unit while waiting to submit a request and for you to come and fix the problem? This would only cause anxiety for everyone in the unit.
When I first moved in, there were already two bugs inside the apartment—one was a worm the size of my finger, and the other was a spider the size of my palm. Other bugs were seen in my roommates' rooms. Clearly, pest control hasn’t been done, or there wouldn’t be this many bugs present.

Second, regarding the parking situation. Do you think I haven’t tried to park within the community, even though the parking lot near my unit is always full? I reported this problem over the phone when you called for a survey on 9/14/2024.

As I mentioned earlier, I completed a phone survey with your team on 9/14/2024, during which I also reported the maintenance issues. If our maintenance request was not submitted successfully, why weren’t we notified so that we could resubmit it? Your staff clearly has records of our maintenance request history, which proves that you are not prioritizing residents' concerns or addressing problems promptly.

Lastly, regarding "RentPlus," when did residents receive emails from "The View Apartment" notifying us that we would be automatically enrolled in such a program? I receive a tremendous amount of junk mail every day, and you expect me to check my junk folder daily? If the program is optional, residents should have the right to enroll at their own discretion, rather than being automatically enrolled. To opt out, we have to waste around five minutes searching our email for "RentPlus," figuring out what it is, and then going to the website to cancel it. If we wanted it, we would enroll ourselves.

The View is the worst, and the living experience is TERRIBLE. I would rate a 0 star if I could.

1. The staff is unfriendly, especially McKenzie and Makayla, who claim to be the managers.
2. They sign you up for a third-party service called "RentPlus," which charges $8.95 per month without notifying residents or obtaining consent.
3. They do not conduct any pest control. Bugs, cockroaches, and moths are all over the place, both inside and outside the units. They claimed this is “Mother Nature’s land” and said there isn’t much they can do, but pest control should be the bare minimum.
4. The kitchen disposal often spits out trash when turned on. We were told this happens because we put too many fruit and vegetable skins in it, which supposedly caused it to jam. But isn’t that what the disposal is for?
5. During the in-person tour, we were only shown a premium unit and were told the only difference between the standard and premium units was that one had carpet, and the other had flooring. Based on this, I signed the lease, but it turns out the units are completely different. The furniture is old and unfinished, the chairs are broken, the wardrobes are scratched, and the carpets are moldy. Every time we report these issues, we’re told to submit a maintenance request, but the request we submitted in August still hasn’t been addressed by October.
6. You won’t find a parking spot anytime after 6 PM. You'll have to park at the Valley, another apartment complex, and risk having your vehicle towed.
7. TVs are not provided, or you'll have to pay an extra fee of around $15 per month. While I don’t necessarily need a TV, it’s frustrating that this wasn’t communicated before signing the lease. This should have been disclosed upfront.

If you’re paying similar rent, I strongly recommend going somewhere else, like the Yards or Aspen, for a much better living experience. The environment and service at The View are not worth the money, especially with such terrible staff.

Terrible!!! MOLD ISSUES!! Go to the Bryn! Cheaper with less issues. This place is way over priced! My daughter has mold in her apartment. I couldn't believe how fithy and dirty everything was move in day. Definitely nothing like the model apartment they showed us.
Maintenance went above and beyond to clean our stove and always comes very quick and is very friendly. Makes the living experience so much fun!!
I would give this place 0 stars if I could this staff member named Katie Ishler is incredibly unaware of how a toilet works. They tell me it’s a clog that resulted in 2 inches of water being all over my section of the apartment even though I called up 2 experts who have been doing this for years and they said that that much water could never result unless there was something else wrong with the toilet than just a standard clog. I am also not convinced the toilet was clogged in the first place. They will do anything to save a few bucks and refuse to sanitize my carpet for something that was wrong with their toilet. My apartment now smells like wet dog and I have to clean up a problem caused by them out of my own pocket because they refuse to listen to reason. These people suck at their jobs DO NOT LIVE HERE!
The management is horrible. Charged $160 after end of lease for light touch up cleaning. The place was spotless upon move out end of April, scrubbed top to bottom. No damages, no itemized list, just kept security deposit (plus some). Unbelievable…oh, and good luck with elevators that never work!!

Lacks professionalism and extremely money hungry tried to charge me 750 for a visitors ESA even though that’s illegal even contacted hud I just didn’t feel like dealing with the legal trouble and having court. Wouldn’t recommend and Tonya is an imbecile, she’s going to be the reason Burkely communities get sued.
We lived here for 6 years. Overall, I would normally give a place like this 3 stars. It was a good value (one of the last more reasonably priced places in State College), with decent apartments and facilities. But Tami in the front office alone gets an extra star for the building. She was always kind, friendly, and quick to help, and made our experience here feel that much more like a home.

As for more standard review stuff, maintenance was a little slow and sometimes we would need to ask repeatedly to get work done. We had multiple issues with water (only one bad pipe burst in the ceiling, everything else was minor), we had to get a couple appliances replaced (though Executive House wasn't too difficult to work with for that), and the laundry room would have major issues about 50% of the time, either with payment or cycles not running properly. The AC units have difficulty cooling the whole apartment in the hot months, especially in larger apartments. We had some minor pest issues throughout the years, but never anything terrible (one mouse, no cockroaches over 6 years).
The Legacy building had a very comfortable space. It offered a clean, home like environment where my peers and I were able to study and chill out. The staff was also excellent. They offered support on any questions or issues we had.
My daughter lived at The Legacy this year and had a great experience. The staff at the office are so friendly and helpful. The apartments are well maintained. I highly recommend the Legacy at State College!
Thanks to Megan and Nick at The Legacy State College, their customer service was unmatched. Well maintained apartments and convenient location. Recommend parents to check The Legacy apartments for sure.👍🏻
I love living in the legacy! Couldn’t have asked for a better first off campus apartment at Penn state. The location is great and the staff is friendly and welcoming! The building is clean and the apartment itself is spacious
Critical: Professionalism

Horrible place to live in or rent from, Mark was a complete PRICK. The security NSA was great group of guys and they did their best but were always being blocked by the Staff on doing what needed to be done. The staff of SV you deal with isn't worth a dang when issues happen, maintenance was a joke, half the time never showing up, at some point someone went in our apartment without our knowledge and locked our dog in the bathroom, Mark claimed it wasn't any of this staff yet the issue there was the door was locked and nothing was broken in, a week later got a notice about care and blinds and things. So... Who else would it of been. And don't live at the other place they have out on spring garden the houses cause the management there is a joke too
Nice place, lived here for 3.5 years, 3rd floor. Landlords are nice. Relatively few bugs, never saw any other pests. Quiet. Place is older but well-kept, did not often have to have any maintenance requests. When something did have to be fixed, landlords responded in a timely and reasonable manner.

Laundry room, hallways, and lobby were up to date and clean. Balconies are nice enough given the price of the unit.

Complex is across from the high school, so at 8:30am and 3:00pm traffic can get a bit messy, but it's nothing that the landlords can do anything about. Likewise, sometimes in the nicer months during the school the marching band will play for a couple hours outside, which can get extremely noisy.

But, besides that, the place is pretty nice. So nice, in fact, for the price, I ended up living in State College for another year than I meant to.
I have lived at the legacy for almost a year now and I couldn’t ask for a better first apartment. The staff is wonderful and are so helpful with any issues that arise whether it be a simple question, problem solving, or fixing something in the unit. The living space is really nice and the apartment building itself is close to campus and many places downtown.

Renewing was the best living decision I made! I was offered a great renewal rate and it was leaps and bounds better than any other apartment in the area. It is currently my second year at the view and the only reason I am not renewing this year is because I’m graduating. If I was here for another year I’d be living here again for sure. Best bang for your buck, plus it’s a beautiful place to live with a great and incredibly helpful staff!
I currently live here. The apartment itself is so outdated, but that is not the worst part. The worst part is the amount of inspections and maintenance things they do without warning. They come banging on your door at 9 in the morning so often and it is very annoying. Today they did this twice in the past 10 minutes. I understand if something needs to be changed but there is not communication on what is going on, just banging on the door in the morning when we are sleeping.

Have had a wonderful experience with this place! 👍

I’m not currently living here but will be a new resident come Fall of 24. For the upcoming school year at Penn State University Main Campus WE ARE! 🦁

The staff are so nice and friendly and are willing to help out in any way possible! Especially Emily who works with the leasing office she’s super helpful!!

The property is also super nice!

I’m excited to call the View my new home away from home come next year!

If you are in need of a place to stay I would highly recommend The View especially for the upcoming school year!
I really enjoyed living here. I lived here from Aug 2021 to Dec 2023. I let Tami know I was graduating in December and they found someone to take my lease, which was great. They never bugged me unless necessary, fixed any issues I had quickly, and were overall just very kind. The price is reasonable for a one bedroom in the area, and it's overall a lovely place. I recommend!
My partner and I rented from Executive House for 2 years and were extremely satisfied with our experience. The apartments are very affordable considering their size and location, and the property is well-maintained. The office and maintenance staff were always courteous and responsive. If we could have taken the building with us when we moved, we would have!

Hi I have a question, I'm an off campus part time student student, with a job and a child who is quiet. Do student apartments accept parents?
Move in was fantastic! Everyone was so helpful!! There were a few things scratched or broken at the apartment, but overall and amazing experience.
This studio room has everything i need. The set up is convenient and the space is very nice.
I can not say enough about Foster Arms studios. The management was awesome and always responded immediately to any concerns my daughter had. The location can not be beat! TY for making my daughter's senior year a great one!
EXCELLENT PLACE

I cannot quite emphasize enough how poor of a decision it was to live here. On top of the rooms themselves being massively overpriced- $900/ month/ person for the 4 bed/ 4 bath apartment, I was also anticipating to be treated like an adult, which the university does not. Room checks twice a semester, invading my tiny dorm sized room to ensure that I don't have candles in my room, space heaters, or other contraband. I was not given the privilege of visiting the space before I moved in, but if I had, I would have noticed that the busy highway right next to the building- West Gate City Bvd- is extremely loud and the thin walls of the building block very little sound, making it very difficult to sleep at night. I literally dread being in my room every day. I am begging you, if you are looking at UNCG grad programs and don't know where to move to, don't move to the lofts on lee building. It is probably the worst mistake I have made in a very long time, if not ever.
I've lived here for a few years without any issues. The front office folks have been really responsive, helpful and friendly. Maintenance team is almost around the clock and are very helpful.
Quiet place to live for graduate students. I've also had a lot of plants in the patio and the front desk/maintenance didn't have any issues with what I can grow in house or on the patio. The heating is really good in the winter and is part of the utilities. Maintenance team removes the snow on time in the winters.
Overall it's a safe, convenient and quiet place to live in for working professionals and graduate students.
I lived here for a year and I enjoyed my stay. The leasing office was nice - Kim (the younger woman) who works in the office always answered my questions and inquiries and was always nice and pleasant to be around. She was a nice person and I always liked talking to her. I also had a 2 bedroom apartment and the apartment that I was given was a little worn out - the kitchen area, but the apartment itself was quite spacious and large. The neighborhood is quite nice, safe and residential. It is in a college town, so the place is safe and nice. My neighbors became my good friends and I found the people to live in the apartment complex to be good people and normal. The apartment is very close to a Weis, Dominos. It is also close to Penn state Campus and downtown State College. The apartment wasn't too expensive either it's around $1200/month for a 2 bedroom place, which is definitely affordable and reasonable price. My only issue was with management charging for petty things. Overall, though, I enjoyed staying here and I definitely recommend Executive Apartments!

You get what you pay for and it wasn't worth it. Management didn't really do much. The unit I lived in was FILTHY the day I moved in. Don't live here!
Had a pleasant stay here during my tenure at state college. The management is helpful and all the requests were duly addressed.

This apartment has good location, and the unit is good sized and affordable, however, no security camera or locked building door so packages are constantly missing! I have lost 5 packages in the past 6 months and have to rent a PO Box now. Some packages were gone within 2 hours of delivery!

Don’t stay here. All they do is cut corners and find reasons to charge extra fees with no explanation simply to get over on students. Many of which are struggling already to pay for school alone. They don’t properly inform you of regulations and are very rude when you ask questions. Being managed by NCAT clearly means nothing. I suggest taking it up with the state honestly. When I moved in there were gnats in the fridge and microwave, ashes and trash in the couch cushions, grime on the floor, the shower and toilet were both dirty and the air-conditioning did not work. The carpet in room C was covered in ashes and dirt that left stains on the floor that I’m now being charged for, dents in the wall and so much more. They act like they actually maintain the spaces but they don’t. They just charge students for extra money. It’s severely inhumane and is this not illegal. Charging us for a service that you don’t even actually apply and regulations that you don’t actually adhere to. I’m taking this to a higher up.

The WORST apartment complex you could EVER LIVE in. I thought the fact the NC A&T now owns Sebastian that management would be different, but they’re still very unprofessional. They will assign inaccurate charges and fees to your account at random if you fail to owe them any extra money within the end of the year. They’re very money hungry and can provide no explanation on why you have additional charges just that you must “trust their system” stating that you did it and pay up. I wouldn’t recommend staying in this student housing to my worst enemy. Your maintenance request will never be answered they will just close the request after 2 weeks. Also, you will never be able to reach anyone other than the receptionist in the leasing office to address any of your concerns. PLEASE STAY ELSE WHERE.

Really close to the street so you constantly hear cars go by, even street racing at like 3am. But overall a safe place to live.

Also the walls are REALLY thin and when I used to live there, they moved me in with undergraduates. So you could here them....ya know...getting busy.
My daughter rented at Foster Arms her senior year at State College. The management (PMI) were accessible, knowledgeable & made themselves available at all hours during the week of move in. The apartment was clean and any issues were taken care of in a timely manner. We appreciated the individual WiFi access which made remote classes run smoothly, the location was fabulous and move out was as easy as move in. PMI returned most of our security deposit and we agreed what was charged was correct, this is unlike other experience we have had in the area. We highly recommend this location and management group. Thank you!
After just moving out of Dorchester, here is my review.

My roommate and I shared a "large" furnished studio. The apartment is small, but can be worked to favor your way of life as a student. They kitchen is barely able to fit 2 people, but the bathroom is well sized. There is a TON of storage space which is incredibly helpful. PMI did an excellent job of providing as much assistance with furniture as they could, so that was also very much appreciated.

The only reason it gets 4 stars is because it's a really small apartment unit, but PMI provided great service.

Very overpriced for student housing. I am paying 560 (during a global pandemic) but the quality of the apartment is not worth the price I am paying. I feel like as a college student I am being robbed because for starters my apartment was NOT furnished, I am paying 560 for an apartment with dirty carpet, old utilities, and wifi that almost never can work properly. The walls are thin, my appliances are old, and my ice machine has not worked since I have lived here. My shower leaks brown/black stuff occasionally and I stay on the second floor and my room is ALWAYS hot even with the AC blasting. During the pandemic the apartments have made no efforts to help students whom have lost hours, they simply just waived a 27.00 late fee. Last thing I will say is that NCAT bought Sebastian for their own personal gain and not for the sake of the students. I cannot AFFORD to live and pay through the school so after this lease is up I will be homeless because my financial aid will not help me pay up front the cost of living here. Not to mention that my rent went up 20.00 but nothing was improved or changed in the apartments so why am I paying more? DO NOT LIVE HERE AND DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!
If you're a student at A&T, don't move in here. They are always cutting corners and don't consider residents at all. The move in crew ran my apartments electricity bill up to where I had to pay overages and I was responsible for all payments. The wifi is shotty AT BEST (slow to load on YouTube past 480p and don't even think about playing video games online) The key fobs to the workout area/rec room never works ( I had to go to the front office 4 times over the course of 3 weeks before mine started working.) The amenities are mediocre. When my hot water went out in my apartment, I had to wait over 6 hours before maintenance arrived even though the front office deemed this work order as a "high priority" request. The pet fees are outrageous. And the leasing manager is VERY rarely reachable. Over my 2 years living here the only thing good I can say about this place is its location being close to campus.
I currently live in a large fully furnished studio at Dorchester and I am enjoying my stay. It is a quieter apartment complex with on site laundry and electricity/water included in rent. With it being an older building with older features, things can break but the maintenance is very quick to service your request. The water pressure/temperature is the best I’ve had so far in my experience at Penn State. All of the staff at the office are also very accommodating and friendly! I would recommend Dorchester to others as it is affordable and in walking distance to campus.
Clean, affordable, and great if you’re moving off campus. The apartment complex is decent and the rooms are a good size. Clarke is the property manager and she does a great trying to help everyone as much as she can. She will work with you if you are late on your rent and she is professional. Lived here for a year and have had few minor problems.
The other reviews don’t look too good but I personally have a had a great experience here in regards to management. I moved in November of 2018 and they’ve been nothing but helpful. If I have any questions or concerns, they usually reply to my email within an hour. And when my financial aid was late, they gave me time to scrap up the money to pay that months rent. They do send text messages to let us know about events or if maintanence is being done. If you’ve been late before on rent, they send text reminders...now those can be annoying but hey, you shoulda paid your rent on time, I guess.
I haven’t seen a single bug in my apartment and my roommates aren’t super neat when it comes to the kitchen.
My only complaints are towards some of the residents here. For example, the dumpster is RIGHT THERE and people will still leave trash beside it when it’s not full.

For a minimum of $390/m, this is amazing. and it’s my favorite student housing bc not too much happens over here. I don’t want a block party in my parking lot.
We lived in an 1-bedroom apartment at Executive House for over 2 years and absolutely LOVED it. Before this, we had stayed in two different apartment complexes within the neighborhood but nowhere beat the affordability, convenience, and service at the Executive House. The best thing about this apartment, in our opinion, is its central heat system, which keeps the room very warm at a stable temperature (heat is included in the rent!). When we needed to move out of the apartment before our lease ended, Tami and Kim (the property managers) helped us find a tenant to sublease very quickly. This is a great place to stay for both students and families in State College.

This complex would not be half bad if the property manager had even the slightest bit of professionalism. Clarke is constantly over involved in resident lives. I have spoken with several other residents who say that she borderline harasses them as well. As a property manager you have only one job. That is to manage the property, not to harass the residents. Clarke has meddled in my relationship and insulted my boyfriend's weight to his face. Clarke constantly calls my mother over the most trivial things. She has annoyed my mother so much that my mom told her to stop calling. Secondly, Clarke's roommate matching skills are piss poor. I had to switch apartments because my old roommates were extremely obnoxious and filthy, so filthy that the apartment was roach infested. Also, if you are a student, be aware that 99.9% of the residents are locals. I receive text messages from Clarke at least daily. It's just ridiculously annoying. I feel like I can't even exist in peace. She bursts into my room to "talk" and "check up on me" whenever I make the slightest noise. My room is right above the office so there is no escaping the harassment. She even harasses my dog! I have a chihuahua registered ESA and he's an alert dog so he barks when people approach me as he was trained to do. She has literally ran out of the office to complain about him barking in the parking lot. The last time I checked ESA's trump all property rules. My puppy is welcomed to bark whenever he damn well pleases! My RA's were not nearly this nosey when I was living on campus! I just believe there are certain rules and codes of conduct that you should govern yourself by as a property manager. Clarke clearly doesn't grasp that concept. So in short, please don't move here, save yourself the headache!
Apartments are in a bad neighborhood. Apartments can use some updating so they will be more attractive and office personnel should not procrastinate on business. Office hours doesn't fit the times you can actually reach someone in the office. I hope this apartment complex upgrades in ever aspect or they will continue to lose a lot of their residents.
The apartment is very spacious and the layout is nice! The pricing is extremely fair for an apartment in State College, PA. You can set up automatic payments which is super convenient!!!! Nevin's Real Estate has been incredible to work with, responding to every issue in a respectful and timely manner! The only downside is the distance from the campus, but the apartment and price make it worth it!

I’m going to lay it out on why you SHOULDNT move here..first off, the office is closed more than it is open. You’ll barely be able to get in there and talk to someone. They let people park in the handicap spots without a handicap sticker, which is illegal. The smell of marijuana is everywhere. When I moved in, they didn’t even bother to clean my carpet that was filthy, and my room smelled like someone just had a session. I’ve asked the property manager several times to clean my carpet...Theres at least half of the residences who are not even in college who live here. Gillian does not care about the safety of students, she only cares about putting bodies in rooms. And the cameras outside do not work. Don’t be fooled, they’re just for show. They also have a MAJOR bug problem, I have seen spiders, roaches, etc...So if you ever thought about moving here you might want to think again they don’t care for you. Y’all might think because the rent is lower than everywhere else that it’s a good idea but no. You get what you pay for! They only want your money and the overages are ridiculous..I got an overage for $50 and I knew for a fact I did not use that much electricity..jokes. Don’t move here. It’ll be the worst mistake.
Calder Commons is a great place to live! It is less than a 5 minute walk to campus and is in a great spot downtown. The staff is friendly and helpful. The apartment is spacious and has new furniture. Also, there is a study room and gym downstairs, which is an added bonus. I definitely would recommend living here.
I have lived in Calder Commons for the past two years and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I decided to remain in Calder my Senior year because of the convenience to campus and downtown and mostly due to the great service of the building workers! Any maintenance requests are handled very quickly and the attendants in the office are so easy to access if I have a problem or question. The free gym and study room is a great addition and I love being able to park my car in a garage that is attached to the building. Overall, a great place for anybody to live!
This was my first year living at Calder Commons and I have really enjoyed my experience here. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I love chatting with them on my way to class. The building is very clean and safe. My roommates and I live in one of the deluxe apartments and absolutely love it, especially our kitchen which we just had remodeled over winter break. Would definitely recommend renting here.
Love living here. The maintenance staff is very kind and always very timely with help! Very safe and clean and our apartment just got remodeled and is exceptional! The office staff has been amazing with any issues I have had this year and keep Calder an awesome place to live!
Calder Commons is a wonderful place to live!! The apartments are fully furnished which is a huge plus, and they are definitely spacious! The staff at Calder Commons is also incredibly helpful and they often provide free food for residents on special occasions (like finals week)! I would definitely recommend living here! :)
I’ve had a great experience living in Calder Commons! Whenever we’ve had any issue, the maintenance comes right away to fix it. Also, the staff is always so friendly and looking to get people involved through little prizes and giveaways. It’s also a perfect location with a lot of added amenities. I couldn’t have picked a better place to live for my junior year! I definitely would recommend Calder for anyone looking for an apartment in State College!
Calder Commons is the perfect place to live. It's super close to campus and everything downtown. There are parking spaces available for residents, which are extremely convenient. In regards to the individual apartments, they are clean and well-kept. Anytime we need maintenance, someone comes either the same day or the next. Management here is always super friendly and helpful, and they are always giving away prizes and goodies for the students!
BED BUGS!!!! BED BUGS!!!! I recently had to move home to my mothers house after not living home for 6 YEARs! because the property manager (not the owner) sent me a text message stating that my apartment had been checked for bedbugs and there was no site of bed bugs, but after contacting the inspection company the owner and the individual who inspected the apartment states he did find findings of BED BUGS! So now I've been told a lie by the property manager on purpose to keep me in the apartment. I also want to make this clear I haven't even been in the apartment 1 month yet, and there sittings of bed bugs that they continued to try and cover up, my water didn't work, my carpets where very dirty and the walls had not been painted. When you are going to take on a management job you have to be able to manage, and yes was promised a refund but I moved out on August 16 and still have yet receive my refund. The business practices that are performed at campus east are not professional and the only care about numbers not there residents.

No frills whatsover, but I definitely think Park Lane is one of the best deals you can get living down town. Huge apartments, relatively quiet, and haven't had any issues with management. I've heard from neighbors of some issues with broken laundry machines, but other than that I really can't complain about living hear. Wish I found it sooner.

Dear Reader, I would strongly recommend that you would not rent an apartment in this complex, or any other apartment/property belonging to the Burkely Community LLC. I repeat, do not sign a lease, it is not worth it even if they would pay you to live there. I want to give 0 stars but that is not possible with the review. I had the misfortune to rent an apartment with this company from August 2016 till July 2017 while pursuing my graduate studies and working for the admissions department at UNC Greensboro. Before I continue I want to disclaim that as a state employee these views are mine alone, and does not represent the views of UNC Greensboro, the University of North Carolina System, or that of the State of North Carolina.
Originally drawn by the affordable rent of a single bedroom with 2 roommates, with the promise that I would get fellow graduate students (I did not get those), and show a standard empty three room apartment I accepted the lease. The day before I suppose to move in I picked up the keys and checked out the apartment to only find out that the whole apartment was disgusting, food remains on the floor everywhere, a sticky black residue, trash and dirty dishes everywhere. I was very unhappy and requested to be placed in another unit in the complex. Management refused to move me to another location and sited that I had signed a lease and was bound by it. They however promised me they would send a professional cleaning crew. I moved my stuff in my room and left for two weeks.

After I came back the place was still dirty. After complaining they finally send over a cleaning crew. The women from the external cleaning company were really nice & gave me a list of stuff that was broken. They said that if I give the list to management they will come and fix it for me. The faucet was leaking, food trays were missing out of the refrigerating, parts of the microwave were missing, was machine leaking and dryer was not producing heat, the filter of the heating system was missing. I gave the list to management and they placed a work order. However, maintenance was terrible. They said they completed work orders but did not. I ended up talking to the manager Mark Everhardt, but he insulted the cleaning ladies because of the list. According to him, it was not their job to do so. It took 3 months to get some of the equipment fixed after multiple complaints. If that was not enough more issues came to light. After that severe roommate issues started to appear with both roommates as result of their own issues, which started to affect my living space. It was severe enough that after consultation with resources at UNC Greensboro that they helped arrange alternative living arrangements at another property at Berkeley communities. However, Mark Everhardt refused to let me transfer to one of the other properties. He only allowed me to move within the complex. I accepted reluctant and moved in January.

The microwave door was broken, there was considerable floor damage at some parts, and cockroaches appeared, which I reported. I did not care about since it was much better than the old situation. However, I had to pay more rent. I did not mind, because I was happy to be out of that toxic situation and had not current roommate. 2 days later I had to call in again maintenance, because the heating system kept not working. After 3 calls they finally realized something was broken. They shot down the airco, but took 2.5 months before they fixed the system. Also within two weeks, someone broke into my apartment, because maintenance did not lock a window in one of the locked bedrooms (conclusion from police).

In march I got a transfer roommate without real notice, who within the month started screaming and talking to himself. He started displaying disturbing traits not only towards me but to the neighbors. Not being able to deal with the situation I moved out a month before the end of the lease.

Things have changed since others have lived here. I absolutely love it. Quiet, private, and secure. Parking is something to desired, but this is college. What did you expect?!

Since the first day I moved in, they were slacking. When I went to move in they were not just late, they gave me their spare keys because, they didn't have the original set. Which means one of the previous residents was walking around with the keys to my apartment. So, I had to get the locks changed off gate. The rate I was paying for a 2 bedroom was $515 which didn't seem terrible for student living. But, for some reason every month after I moved in, my roommate and I had overages. They set a cap for utilities and it's pretty reasonable but, for us to go over EVERY month is ridiculous. It never seemed like utilities was free. We couldn't even do basic routines like use the dishwasher, wash cloths, or even use A/C throughout the day without going over. We went through 6 different managers throughout the year and they still don't have a clue about what is going on. You never know who to talk to when it comes to issues and since its ran by students 85% of the time, they don't always have answers. They advertise promotions like "Free TV's" or "$100 gift cards" for when you sign a lease with them. But, they take forever to give that to you. My roommate and I signed our lease the same day as one another and we were promised a $75 gift card and not only did they take 5 months to give it to us they also lowered the amount to $50. They don't notify you when you receive a package in their office or record all the packages that are received in their office. Someone sent me a surprise package and it was received on August 18th and I didn't find out about until the end of October. Absolutely Ridiculous!!!

Overall, Sebastian Village is irresponsible and has poor management and I really don't recommend anyone living here unless they have to and have no other options.
